the Crescent Arts Centre provides the Jimmy Uzi with 200 classes a

week. How many classes can I get This is the busiest arts centre in

Northern Ireland. Sec over four floors, you can learn just about

anything here. But I have only got one day. So, let's go. What is it

that's so good about this place? is very diverse, you can do dance,

you can do creative writing, What does it mean to the community,

a centre like this? It draws people from across the Community, from all

different groups. It is not just art, it is all of the other classes

as well. We are spray-painting the side of the centre - are they not

going to get mad about this? No, it is purpose-built for street art.

This building is a hive of activity, as you can see. But a few years ago

it was nearly closed down. We had dry rot, damp, the walls were

crumbling, you could walk along and end up on the floor beneath. We had

various campaigns to save the centre, and with the help of the

National Lottery and the Arts council of Northern Ireland, we

have been able to save this fantastic building. What was it

like modelling in the old building, to what it is now? It was freezing,

absolutely freezing. Did anybody say flamenco dancing? Since the

�7.2 million refurbishment, hundreds of thousands of people

have visited the Crescent, doing everything from flamenco to belly

dancing. The restoration of the arts centre has given Belfast a

beautiful historic building. But it is not the building which makes the

place so special, it is what the community have created inside. I

love a woman who takes charge! I think he should put that down and
