The nine contestants preparing for today's show

are all people we love to hate.

Only one of them can win up to £10,000.

The rest will leave empty-handed as, one by one,

they're voted off as the weakest link.

The nine contestants in the studio here today

are all people we love to hate.

And any one of them could win up to £10,000.

They don't know each other.

If they want the money, they'll have to work as a team.

But eight of them will leave with nothing,

as round by round we lose the player voted the weakest link.

In each round, the aim is to answer

enough questions correctly

to reach £1,000 in the time limit.

The fastest way to reach that target is to create a chain

of nine correct answers. Answer wrong and you lose all the money.

Say, "Bank" and that money is safe.

However, you start a new chain from scratch.

At the end of the round,

only banked money can be carried forward.

Round One - three minutes on the clock.
