Heroes

We have the amazing stories of five real-life heroes who overcame it

obstacles in their life. The greatest sporting show has

arrived in Rio, the Olympics, new stars will be born,

new heroes created, but the most uplifting stories

are not from Olympians, but rather the unsung

heroes of sport. Not far from the Olympic Park

and across Brazil, there are people who are helping transform

lives through sport. Our first hero is in Rio,

a man who escaped a difficult childhood,

not through football, Meet the woman who overcame

a family tragedy to Still in Sam Powell oh we meet a man

who learned to use the power of skateboarding to keep kids away from

crime -- still in Sao Paulo we meet a man.

Next we're going back to Rio where golf and sailing are changing lives

An unlikely friendship is defeating the class

divide through one of the world's most privileged sports, golf.

Back to the Olympic Games after 112 years.

I've known him for many years, he has been a caddy here since it was a

teenager and sometimes he took my bags and other times other people's

bag. He came to me and said the mayor is

going to give us a large piece of land large enough to build a golf

course on and he said he doesn't want any more poor people here, he

wants a sport which will bring rich people, and rich people will spend

money which will be good for my city.

Golf has always been a sport for the elite in Brazil and in South America

because of the lack of public courses. When we started this, we

built the first public golf course in Brazil.

We have about 120 kids in the programme right now and we have

created various champions in Brazil in their age categories and we are

very pleased with them. Next, how I live changing accident
