CHEERING AND APPLAUSE | 0:16:17 | 0:16:19
Rory, you're most welcome to I Lar An Aonaigh. | 0:16:52 | 0:16:55
No stranger to a recording studio, | 0:16:55 | 0:16:57
with two albums to the credit of the band so far. | 0:16:57 | 0:17:00
But tell me about Seven Summits, | 0:17:00 | 0:17:01
because the membership of the band has changed | 0:17:01 | 0:17:04
over the duration that it's been in existence. | 0:17:04 | 0:17:07
So how has that changed the sound over the years? | 0:17:07 | 0:17:10
It has changed things, obviously, yeah. I mean, we started off... | 0:17:10 | 0:17:13
We've had three or possibly four different line-up changes | 0:17:13 | 0:17:16
over the years now and it does - | 0:17:16 | 0:17:18
it mixes things up whenever a new member comes in | 0:17:18 | 0:17:21
but sometimes it changes the sound overall | 0:17:21 | 0:17:23
and sometimes it just adds a bit of freshness or whatever. | 0:17:23 | 0:17:26
But you just have to rehearse, gig and get on with it. | 0:17:26 | 0:17:29
What about new material? | 0:17:29 | 0:17:30
Have you been in the studio with the new line-up per se, so far? | 0:17:30 | 0:17:33
Yeah, we have. We've got two singles ready to go, | 0:17:33 | 0:17:36
so it's just a matter of putting everything together. | 0:17:36 | 0:17:39
You've to get a video together | 0:17:39 | 0:17:41
and sort of try and get the word around | 0:17:41 | 0:17:43
before you unleash it, if you like. | 0:17:43 | 0:17:45
It's quite a complicated process. Takes a while, basically. | 0:17:45 | 0:17:49
It takes a lot of dedication, as well, especially | 0:17:49 | 0:17:52
when you're trying to hold down jobs and get this done on the side. | 0:17:52 | 0:17:55
So what keeps you going? | 0:17:55 | 0:17:57
It's just... I mean, people ask me that quite a lot and it's just... | 0:17:57 | 0:18:01
It's not really a choice. | 0:18:01 | 0:18:02
You're driven to do it and you just do it, you know, | 0:18:02 | 0:18:05
like any other passion someone has. You get up in the morning and it's the first thing you think of. | 0:18:05 | 0:18:09
Well, we were listening to you in rehearsal here in the studio | 0:18:09 | 0:18:12
and it sounds absolutely fantastic. Can't wait for the live performance. | 0:18:12 | 0:18:16
How are you doing? Glad to have you here. So, how's the work going? | 0:19:03 | 0:19:07
Well, as you see, it's reaching a very exciting stage. | 0:19:07 | 0:19:10
A lot of hard work's been put in and a lot of hard work still to be | 0:19:10 | 0:19:14
completed but we're getting there. | 0:19:14 | 0:19:16
And, tell me, what's the inspiration behind this cross-community project? | 0:19:16 | 0:19:20
Well, the inspiration - I suppose the physical inspiration - | 0:19:20 | 0:19:23
was a visit to the Culturlann on the Falls Road | 0:19:23 | 0:19:26
that I made probably 15 years ago. | 0:19:26 | 0:19:29
Ciaran Mackel, an architect that I know, | 0:19:29 | 0:19:33
invited me over for a cup of coffee, just to meet him, | 0:19:33 | 0:19:37
and I suppose that's where the seeds of this were really planted. | 0:19:37 | 0:19:43
And we're now at a stage, actually, | 0:19:43 | 0:19:45
where we're developing a fruitful partnership with the Culturlann. | 0:19:45 | 0:19:48
But certainly that feel they've created there, very successfully, | 0:19:48 | 0:19:51
we hope to replicate here. | 0:19:51 | 0:19:53
