Rory, you're most welcome to I Lar An Aonaigh.

No stranger to a recording studio,

with two albums to the credit of the band so far.

But tell me about Seven Summits,

because the membership of the band has changed

over the duration that it's been in existence.

So how has that changed the sound over the years?

It has changed things, obviously, yeah. I mean, we started off...

We've had three or possibly four different line-up changes

over the years now and it does -

it mixes things up whenever a new member comes in

but sometimes it changes the sound overall

and sometimes it just adds a bit of freshness or whatever.

But you just have to rehearse, gig and get on with it.

What about new material?

Have you been in the studio with the new line-up per se, so far?

Yeah, we have. We've got two singles ready to go,

so it's just a matter of putting everything together.

You've to get a video together

and sort of try and get the word around

before you unleash it, if you like.

It's quite a complicated process. Takes a while, basically.

It takes a lot of dedication, as well, especially

when you're trying to hold down jobs and get this done on the side.

So what keeps you going?

It's just... I mean, people ask me that quite a lot and it's just...

It's not really a choice.

You're driven to do it and you just do it, you know,

like any other passion someone has. You get up in the morning and it's the first thing you think of.

Well, we were listening to you in rehearsal here in the studio

and it sounds absolutely fantastic. Can't wait for the live performance.

How are you doing? Glad to have you here. So, how's the work going?

Well, as you see, it's reaching a very exciting stage.

A lot of hard work's been put in and a lot of hard work still to be

completed but we're getting there.

And, tell me, what's the inspiration behind this cross-community project?

Well, the inspiration - I suppose the physical inspiration -

was a visit to the Culturlann on the Falls Road

that I made probably 15 years ago.

Ciaran Mackel, an architect that I know,

invited me over for a cup of coffee, just to meet him,

and I suppose that's where the seeds of this were really planted.

And we're now at a stage, actually,

where we're developing a fruitful partnership with the Culturlann.

But certainly that feel they've created there, very successfully,

we hope to replicate here.
