So, tell me a little bit about your life back in Syria.

What was your daily routine like?

We used to go on weekends, like, to the park,

some restaurants - during the war, even,

I couldn't take the children for a wee walk or anything,

so we stay home.

Then everything used to change -

especially the prices getting very expensive,

like your ordinary things, like water, food, milk for the children.

So, tell me about the decision that you made to leave Syria.

From the early morning, they were bombing outside.

Very, very big bombs were outside, and my husband was in his surgery,

and I phoned him and said, "Please come back,"

but when he came back, at night-time,

I said, "No more. We leave."

Ihsan, tell me a little bit about what you remember

about that fateful day.

You don't think clearly, that day, and...

but we had to leave, like, everything was so fast,

and...we didn't think clearly, but we had to leave,

and it was in a rush,

so we didn't take everything we needed, but we went anyway.

Have you been able to keep in touch with your family

using modern communications?

Yeah, usually through WhatsApp or Viber,

we used to communicate with them,

but in general the internet in Syria was not that good,

and when the problems started, it's even worse,

so the internet could go out for weeks

and, like, if someone is injured or...you basically can't know.

SHE SPEAKS OWN LANGUAGE

What goes through your head when you see Syria on the evening news?

I used to wish that my country will be on TV, like, for a while,

like, for something nice like, let's say, a sport event,

scientific achievement - not in terms of war.

I'm worried about their situation - still dangerous,

still very hard conditions in Syria.

Yeah, we're still worried about them,

and hope everything is getting better for them.

People there made the place, and, like, most of the people there,

my friends, are in Germany, and if I would go there,

I would just go there and see my family, and aunts,

and see how they are doing -

but, as for a life, my life started here.

At that point, Grandma came striding into the yard.

From an enormous height she glared down

at the three people below her and shouted...

Why hasn't anyone brought me my morning cup of tea?!

-Terrible.
