Liberal Democrats: 12/04/2012 Party Election Broadcasts

Ahead of the local elections on the 3rd of May,

Nick Clegg is touring Britain,

highlighting the tax cuts Liberal Democrats have delivered

for more than 20 million working people.

Mr Clegg's ambition is for no-one to pay any tax

on the first £10,000 they earn.

-How old are you two?

-I'm 21.

-Yeah.

-I'm 20.

-Oh, right, brilliant.

'I am addicted to one simple principle, which is this -

'that we should make sure that tax cuts

'are aimed at people on middle and lower incomes.

'That's why our flagship Liberal Democrat policy'

of making sure that the tax system allows you

to earn £10,000 tax free is so important to me.

'And I just want us to move the tax system in a direction

'where there is less tax on income, on effort and work,

'and more tax on wealth and the wealthy.'

Our priority has been about delivering tax cuts

to millions of ordinary, hard-working families.

We've said it, we've promised it and today we've done it.

-CHILDREN: Good morning, Mr Clegg.

'Of course this is a very challenging time,'

but it doesn't mean we can't do fair things.

-Hello.

-Hiya.

'It's Liberal Democrats who are delivering more new apprenticeships

'than have ever been delivered in our sort of peace-time history.'

The Liberal Democrats are once again a truly national party,

doing the right thing for the whole nation.

So the coalition government is working hard

on making this nation

stronger, fairer,

greener, freer.

That's the prize. So let's get out there and fight for it.
