Cary and Aileen are taking the plunge.

But this wedding will be like nothing you've ever seen.

Because it is being planned by the person you'd least expect.

We've given Cary 25,000 to spend,

but just three short weeks

to plan the entire wedding.

It is absolutely more work than I thought.

With absolutely no input from his bride.

'One thing that Cary needs to get right'

would be the dress.

And only one source of support - his best man.

I think renting a dress was the best decision we made.

Wheeler dealer Cary pinches pennies to afford the bachelor party

of his dreams.

Meet Cary and Aileen, our adorable engaged couple

from Torrance, California.

They go everywhere together.

My name is Cary.

-This is Aileen.

And we are getting married in three weeks. Crazy!

I always thought he was cute.

I had a little crush on him

because he was in a band and he was the lead singer.

The moment I saw her, I knew she had some spunk to her,

and that really caught my attention.

I went to his show, like, a few times just as friends.

And I was like, "Dang."

I definitely wanted to play it cool so when I saw her I was like,

"Oh, hey, how are you doing? I'm Cary, nice to meet you."

Afterwards, I told my buddy Miguel, "Man!

"Dude, she is really cute. I really hope to get to know her one day."

He was really friendly, really nice guy, definitely stood out to me.

So, he's a good-hearted guy.

We became best friends and now we're about to be life partners.

So, I mean, that's how it all started, really.

Dude, it still looks all nice right here.

It's still blinging, huh?

-I love it.

'We've been together for five years and engaged'

for five months now and we have been waiting

'to get married for financial reasons.'

'I faced a lot of turmoil a few years ago -

'I lost my job, I blew my knee out.'

And I lost a lot of money investing in a company

'that went pretty much downhill. So, it's just been tough'

for us to really focus on saving up for a wedding.

I'll marinate some fish.

You still have to wash all these, right?

'Aileen is Korean, I'm Japanese,'

however we're second generation,

so we still hold strongly the values of our culture.

And so with Aileen's side,

I definitely think her parents will want to see a lot

of the Korean traditions being embedded into our ceremony.

And I think that just shows a lot...a sign of respect

of us respecting their cultures and giving back.

The salmon teriyaki that I made last time. I got some more sauce.

-Uh-huh.

As far as my relationship with Aileen's parents is concerned,

because of the language barrier, there's not much that we can

communicate and discuss, so it's usually more a "Hi, bye."

"How are you? How are things at work?"

That's usually about it. That's all I can ask for at this point.

'So, the next three weeks,'

it's going to be tough knowing that

'we won't be hanging out, we won't be doing dinner together, him cooking,'

cos for the past year and a half, we see each other almost every day.

-Pretty much.

-Yeah, even though we don't live with each other.

But, yeah, we do see each other every day.

'The cultural and spiritual background'

just entails us not living together prior to getting married,

and stuff like that.

We just want to respect that and let it flow naturally.

-It's been fine.

It's very scary knowing that Cary is going to be planning our wedding.

I don't have a set plan right now.

I'm really, like, freaking out.

'She is a better planner, I'm more, "Wing it and see what happens."'

I'm just like, "Dude, I'll figure that out

"when I feel like figuring it out."

'Cary never writes anything down and he forgets'

almost everything.

'What adds to my stress is that I'm going to be working full-time

'throughout the entire process, so I foresee'

just being up until four or five in the morning,

just researching.

I love music and so,

'in my ideal wedding, we would have a band.'

I prefer not to have a band. I'd rather have a DJ.

'As for food, I don't want buffet style.'

We'd have four different stations with different ethnic foods.

I'd rather have everyone gets their own plate.

One would be, like, an amazing taco truck,

another one would be a ramen station.

My ideal colours would be grey and yellow,

just cause I like how those two colours flow together.

'I was thinking of pink,'

but not like hot pink or pink lemonade,

just, like, that soft pink colour.

The theme that I would want for my wedding would be an antique,

vintage, creative wedding.

'I love little bridges'

or bird figures, like,

I think that would be really cute and easy to incorporate into a wedding.

'I really enjoy'

the French colonial theme, with a Southern feel.

One thing that Cary needs to get right

'would be the dress.

'If the dress isn't right then,'

no, I can't be happy with that.

For her dress, I think I'm going to just go with the classic white.

I don't like white.

I definitely want to throw a good bachelor party, so to do that,

I want to cut costs down here and there.

'I think the process of the three weeks,'

I'm just going to be so swamped with the planning process that...

-Although I'm going to be sad and I'll be missing her definitely,

I'm just going to be thinking about preparing this wedding.

Once I see her walking down, I think that's when it will hit me,

like, "Wow, I missed her, you know, this whole time.

"I can't believe this is happening."

I think that's going to be the defining moment, definitely.

'I feel sad knowing I won't see him,'

but that just means we are getting closer to our wedding date.

I just left Aileen's house.

It is very emotional to know that I'm going to be spending

the next three weeks apart from her completely.

A lot of emotions will start hitting.

But tonight I'm going to relax,

spend some time with my parents, have some good food,

go work out and just let it all sink in.

Wait, what about planning your wedding?

Cary won't be planning the wedding alone.

He'll be joined by his buddy, TJ.

The two met at a friend's beach party two summers ago

and have been best friends ever since.

He is super sincere, he has good style,

he is in with the cool, you know what I mean?

I definitely trust his judgments.

I think he's going to be really stressed out throughout

this whole process, so I'm really going to have

to be there for him.

All in all, we're going to have a good time planning this

It's right down the street from our homes.

and planning a wedding for his fiancee, Aileen.

Oh, maybe that's why he's so in the dark.

He plans to get a venue for under ten grand

so he'll have more to spend on his Vegas bachelor party.

a private residence near Aileen's home,

which doubles as a wedding venue.

Its style ranges from Asian decor

to American traditional to creepy monkey statue.

But Aileen has a different view of romance, one that is 180 degrees.

Oh my God, I love it!

Aileen has been fantasizing about her wedding

since childhood, so she brings

three of her bridesmaids to show off La Venta Inn,

her dream wedding venue.

I love gazebos.

He proposed to me at a gazebo, like really close by,

closer to the beach,

and that has a lot of meaning for me.

'So, it was very romantic.'

-Yeah. Was that your dream wedding, to always be outdoors?

You can see the city lights and everything.

But, Aileen, the Sepulveda House has an elk head

and a romantic dining area on the cement driveway next to the garage.

Obviously, a big deciding factor is your guest count.

What I love about this place is that it's in our neighbourhood,

but it seems like you're in a different place, like down South.

You blend right in with the landscape,

the beauty of the greenery and, again,

I was just astounded by the environment here.

But, Cary, it's not quite the stunning view that Aileen wants.

This is my dream cos it's the garden.

I know.

-And it's right by the beach.

-And it's outdoor.

'This is so beautiful that

'I'd be so proud to show it off to my friends and family,

'to be getting married at such a beautiful place.'

Ultimately, it's like, why should that matter?

But for me, it does matter.

Aileen takes her bridesmaids to look at designer wedding dresses

and dream a little.

-Do you have anything that's like a mermaid?

-Yes, I do.

That would be the shape.

'My dream dress would be mermaid-cut,'

maybe a little ruffle, not puffy,

'that's just not me.'

I would not be happy.

We'll take these to the fitting room for you.

the pink bridesmaids' dresses catch Cary's eye.

-Now we have to go back to the bride. This dress rents for 495.

Alterations are probably going to be anywhere from 75 to maybe 150.

-So we are talking about maybe 650 at the most.

At first, I was a little hesitant about renting a dress.

I had never heard of that before.

But now that we've actually come here, looked at all the dresses,

made our decision,

I think renting a dress was the best decision we made.

Especially looking ahead in your future,

We are going to save over 2,000 just by renting this dress

off of our budget, and we're going to be able to put that budget

towards the bachelor party.

When Aileen puts on that dress,

but after seeing what they had on display,

the red really throws it off.

It is one week before the wedding

and all of the penny-pinching

has finally paid off.

Cary and his groomsmen arrive in Las Vegas

for a two day bachelor party!

So, after saving a lot of money on rings, flowers

and venues and stuff like that, we were able

to bump our original budget

for our bachelor party.

That's a huge improvement for us.

The next day, it's the bachelorette party.

While the guys are passed out,

Cary sends the girls to one

of Aileen's favourite restaurants.

-He's so thoughtful(!)

-'I think she's going to be'

just wowed by everything that we hooked her up with

'because when she sees the effort that I put into it,

'I think she'll be happy'

with what we presented to her, as well.

'I feel like I haven't talked to him forever.

'I definitely miss him. It's kind of cheesy,

just so I can be like,

Since I didn't have anyone around to talk to.

The surprise bachelorette party is an elegant,

prim and proper seven-course Japanese meal.

I love this place. So, I'm really excited.

'I'm glad the girls get to try it. It'll be all of their first time.'

But, um, you know, I tried it on and it looks beautiful.

It sucks that I don't get to keep it in the end,

but all I care is that I get to wear it on my wedding day.

I saw those shoes, and they're red.

And it's kind of freaking me out now because it's not me.

It is a colour that I would have never picked.

The dress went super well, I was really happy,

and then there are the shoes that I would never have expected.

And it just reveals that, again, I have no control.

It's just one day before the wedding

and Cary is searching for a thoughtful gift

that will show Aileen's parents

that he respects their Korean culture and tradition.

I think it's only natural or normal for us

'to hold strongly the values of our culture.

'So I think her parents will want to see Korean

'traditions in the ceremony.'

According to Korean tradition,

the groom presents his future mother-in-law

with a goose as a symbol of his faithfulness to her daughter.

So Cary and TJ head to a duck sanctuary, hoping to find one.

There is just one problem.

With less than 24 hours until the wedding, Cary puts his family

and friends to work folding 1,000 paper cranes.

So he can share a Japanese tradition with his future Korean in-laws.

our crane-making party. There were about 20 of us

The day of the wedding finally arrives and everyone is busy.

Cary is decorating the venue, the musicians are rehearsing

Alone by herself in a hotel lobby?

TJ did his job and got Aileen to the hotel, but Cary forgot to do his

part and inform the bridesmaids and hair and makeup to meet her there.

'I don't know what my friends are doing.

'I don't know if they're supposed to be here or not.'

I don't know what's going on and everything is just really

unorganized.

I'm sure Cary will remember to call the girls before it's too late.

and my bridesmaids still aren't here.

I'm still waiting for them and the wedding is at five.

I'm getting a little anxious, I'm getting nervous.

It's Aileen's wedding day, but Cary has forgotten to tell

and so she has been waiting in the hotel lobby alone

for over an hour.

I don't know what's going on. I was told to just get here at 11:30.

I'm trying to be positive now cos it's the day of the wedding

and I don't want anything to bring me down.

Finally, Sandy, the maid of honour,

calls Cary herself to get directions and tells Aileen she is on her way.

I don't know how much time it's going to take for everyone to get ready.

'Hopefully, everyone is going to get here and we will be ready on time.'

After an hour and a half of waiting,

hair and makeup arrives.

And she is a welcome sight for the lonely bride.

and it is already kind of messed up.

and her bridesmaids will help cheer Aileen up.

Yeah, it was like 12:00 and I still didn't know where I was going.

I guess Cary was supposed to tell us and he didn't tell us.
