'Some of Swansea's most desperate homes are about to be transformed.'

0:00:020:00:07

-Any chance of cracking on, next door?

-Yes.

-And doing it without chatting?

0:00:070:00:11

'Plasterer Jamie Denyer is a man on a mission.'

0:00:110:00:14

Whenever you fancy doing a stroke of work, just let me know,

0:00:150:00:19

because it's not as if we're up against a deadline or anything.

0:00:190:00:23

'He may be a tough taskmaster, but this isn't your typical job

0:00:230:00:27

'and he isn't your typical tradesman.'

0:00:270:00:31

'He wants to help Welsh families in the only way he can.'

0:00:310:00:34

You can't take away illness,

0:00:340:00:37

you can't erase people's memories of a negative past,

0:00:370:00:40

but what we can do is hammer a couple of bits of two-by-four together, plasterboard it,

0:00:400:00:45

plaster it, paint it, and hopefully just make them smile a little bit.

0:00:450:00:49

'Since moving to Swansea two years ago,

0:01:030:01:06

'Brighton-born Jamie Denyer has started an extraordinary project.'

0:01:060:01:10

I started up my project, my charity project, ETSETH,

0:01:100:01:13

which stands for Enlarge The Spirit, Encourage The Heart

0:01:130:01:16

and basically, what I was offering to do was plaster a room free of charge.

0:01:160:01:21

People either send a letter of nomination or an e-mail,

0:01:210:01:26

via the ETSETH website, nominating a deserving person.

0:01:260:01:30

I then pick a couple of the letters themselves,

0:01:300:01:35

because you can tell a lot from a letter.

0:01:350:01:38

You can get a real good feel for it.

0:01:380:01:40

I will then get in contact with that person, go to their house,

0:01:400:01:44

do a site visit, have a cup of tea and a chat,

0:01:440:01:48

get a little bit more or other feel for the person themselves,

0:01:480:01:51

and then it will be a case of booking in a time to make over the room.

0:01:510:01:57

Now, I've created a little bit of a monster.

0:01:570:02:01

It's a big, pink, fluffy monster that's more likely to hug you

0:02:010:02:04

than bite you, but it's a monster nonetheless.

0:02:040:02:07

'Jamie's next project takes him to Scurlage,

0:02:130:02:15

'in the Gower, where life has been less than rosy

0:02:150:02:18

'for Sharon and teenage daughter Katie.'

0:02:180:02:21

That's some fat sausage rolls there, aren't there?

0:02:210:02:24

'Dealing with a marriage break-up is hard enough,

0:02:240:02:27

'but they've also inherited an unfinished extension.'

0:02:270:02:32

For the past sort of three years or so,

0:02:320:02:35

Katie and I have had to kind of start all over again,

0:02:350:02:39

when her dad and I separated.

0:02:390:02:41

-Hiya, Jamie, how are you?

-Good, thanks.

-Come on in.

0:02:420:02:45

'When Katie's dad and I were still together, we planned to build

0:02:460:02:49

'the extension, we started it, and he was building it with a friend.

0:02:490:02:53

'They were doing all the work themselves.'

0:02:530:02:56

This, plan-wise, was supposed to be an en suite.

0:02:580:03:02

You can see that the wall has been kept, there...

0:03:020:03:04

'And we separated then, and I remortgaged the house

0:03:040:03:10

'and added some money on to that remortgage,

0:03:100:03:14

'to finish the extension off, but I didn't realise how much,'

0:03:140:03:17

I suppose, materials, it was a big shock,

0:03:170:03:21

I had no idea on how much it was going to cost.

0:03:210:03:24

And then this is the bedroom.

0:03:240:03:26

This is the bedroom, the bedroom-to-be.

0:03:260:03:30

'I did a little bit of work on it, what we could,

0:03:300:03:36

'and of course the money ran out then, so for three years, perhaps,'

0:03:360:03:40

now, three-and-a-half years, we've done absolutely nothing on it.

0:03:400:03:45

And that's basically because we just can't afford to get it completed.

0:03:450:03:51

I think we can make a bit of a change in here, in all fairness.

0:03:510:03:59

It will look a tiny bit different by the time we're done!

0:03:590:04:02

That will be very good, yeah.

0:04:020:04:04

That's all I'm going to say.

0:04:040:04:05

'Well, my first thoughts are that we can make a massive difference.'

0:04:070:04:12

'The only thing is, I think we're going to have to prioritise

0:04:120:04:15

'as to what can actually be done.'

0:04:150:04:18

'As you can see there's two bedrooms downstairs, the little hallway, there is also an attic room upstairs.

0:04:180:04:23

Now, the attic room I don't think is a priority,

0:04:230:04:25

inasmuch as it being used straightaway.

0:04:250:04:28

There's going to be a bedroom for Katie there,

0:04:280:04:30

and there was another room that was going to be an en suite,

0:04:300:04:35

but the plumbing works that would need to be done in there,

0:04:350:04:39

because it hasn't been position in its rightful place,

0:04:390:04:44

it's going to be a lot of aggro, plumbing into that,

0:04:440:04:48

so that's going to be another kind of habitable room.

0:04:480:04:50

By prioritising the downstairs, we can get it done

0:04:500:04:55

to a much, much higher standard.

0:04:550:04:56

Because there is no budget there,

0:04:560:04:58

what we've got is purely donated, so we will do what we can

0:04:580:05:04

with what we've got, but I think, with what I can sort out,

0:05:040:05:08

beg and borrow from, it's a case of, we can make a real change in there.

0:05:080:05:13

-Aye, aye, the cavalry's here.

-How are you, mate, how are you doing? All right?

0:05:130:05:17

'There's no time like the present for Jamie.'

0:05:170:05:20

'He's called the cavalry, in the form of carpenter Steve and Jamie's apprentice, Corey.'

0:05:200:05:26

If we concentrate on clearing out, a bit of preparation work,

0:05:260:05:30

we'll plasterboard, there's a stud wall to be built, mate,

0:05:300:05:33

so if you could crack on with that, that'd be fantastic.

0:05:330:05:36

Let's get the tools out then. Come on, boys, let's do it.

0:05:360:05:39

Jamie, now, I've been helping for about the last year.

0:05:450:05:48

I've only done about three jobs with him so far,

0:05:480:05:50

but I hope to do a lot more in the future, you know?

0:05:500:05:53

It's very rewarding, doing it.

0:05:530:05:56

Really enjoy it.

0:05:560:05:58

-Less talk, more work!

-Sorry, sorry!

0:05:580:06:02

Corey has helped me out loads on these projects and I think,

0:06:020:06:10

in its own way, it's like an example, because I mean, he's 19 years old,

0:06:100:06:16

and there's so much bad press about youngsters of that particular age.

0:06:160:06:21

Corey has been in the paper a couple of times now

0:06:210:06:24

and it's for the reason of the projects,

0:06:240:06:27

where people that he actually knows, are actually in there for,

0:06:270:06:30

like, mugging someone, thieving and going on a downward spiral.

0:06:300:06:34

But he's held in very, very high esteem with his friends now.

0:06:350:06:39

We are sort of really proud for what he does

0:06:390:06:42

and sort of all credit to him, you know?

0:06:420:06:45

'Although Jamie has an army of volunteers,

0:06:450:06:49

'it wasn't always this way.'

0:06:490:06:51

When I first started this,

0:06:510:06:53

it was just literally me plastering a room, free of charge.

0:06:530:06:57

And that's how it went for, like, the first four months.

0:06:580:07:02

And then, it was a case of, er, more people heard about it,

0:07:020:07:07

people that I'd done paid work through, other trades,

0:07:070:07:12

they then said they wouldn't mind lending a hand,

0:07:120:07:15

so it's a case of, we've got people like Steve next door,

0:07:150:07:20

I've got three other carpenters, a painter and decorator, electrician,

0:07:200:07:27

so the scope of what can be done, all of a sudden widened.

0:07:270:07:33

'Each project must be nominated.'

0:07:360:07:38

'In Sharon's case, it was current partner

0:07:380:07:41

'and work colleague Theo who approached Jamie.'

0:07:410:07:44

I nominated Sharon because, basically,

0:07:440:07:47

they extension was not only unfinished,

0:07:470:07:50

but we couldn't ever see a way

0:07:500:07:52

of getting it finished.

0:07:520:07:53

Sharon's so selfless, always giving her time for anybody

0:07:530:07:57

and everybody else and never having much time for herself, really.

0:07:570:08:02

So anything that can give them a better way of life, quality,

0:08:020:08:08

it's great, you know?

0:08:080:08:10

'A few days later and it's a gloomy start in Scurlage,

0:08:130:08:17

'but that hasn't dampened Jamie's enthusiasm.'

0:08:170:08:20

'Normally, he gives up two days

0:08:200:08:21

'but in this instance, he's given himself less than two weeks

0:08:210:08:26

'to transform Sharon's extension.'

0:08:260:08:28

As you can see, the boys are in next door, Dean and Geraint.

0:08:280:08:31

Dean's helped me out numerous times. This is Geraint's first time.

0:08:310:08:35

They're sort of keen as mustard.

0:08:350:08:37

I think they wet the bed this morning, both of them!

0:08:370:08:40

But, today, as you can see, it's all plasterboarded,

0:08:400:08:43

fibre tape's all ready to go,

0:08:430:08:45

so the first bit were going to do is the ceiling and the two walls.

0:08:450:08:50

I met Jamie about two years ago.

0:08:560:08:58

He had met a girl from Swansea who I was in school with,

0:08:580:09:02

he'd moved down with her,

0:09:020:09:03

and he just contacted me to see if I had any work.

0:09:030:09:06

He happened to mention that he was doing these charity jobs,

0:09:060:09:10

and I thought that was a nice thing to do.

0:09:100:09:13

I said, "Next time, I'll give you a hand," and here we are, two years on.

0:09:130:09:17

We've seen some unfortunate cases.

0:09:170:09:19

People really appreciate what we do for them,

0:09:190:09:22

and it's only a day out of my week.

0:09:220:09:26

It's easy for us to come here and do this and we get a lot from it.

0:09:260:09:30

'Jamie's decision to start donating his expertise

0:09:300:09:34

'came following his own personal heartache and then meeting his new Swansea bride.'

0:09:340:09:39

I was living in Essex and married up there, and, just out of the blue,

0:09:390:09:44

was told, "That's it, game over, you know, I want to separate."

0:09:440:09:52

And it knocked me for six, in all fairness.

0:09:520:09:55

The difficulties that come with that was, I went from

0:09:550:10:00

a two-salary relationship to a one-salary relationship.

0:10:000:10:04

My, you know, my mortgage went higher.

0:10:040:10:08

I had two young plasterers on the books

0:10:080:10:11

that I felt a real responsibility to,

0:10:110:10:14

that I couldn't just sort of sack them at the time,

0:10:140:10:19

so I was taking out little personal loans,

0:10:190:10:21

I was getting a credit card,

0:10:210:10:23

which was something I said I would never do,

0:10:230:10:27

you know, just to keep things ticking over.

0:10:270:10:30

But it was on a random night out in Brighton where I met a girl

0:10:300:10:35

and after saying to myself, "Well, that's it,

0:10:350:10:38

"I'm not looking for anything,

0:10:380:10:40

"marriage is the biggest sham in the world,"

0:10:400:10:43

all this, that and the other,

0:10:430:10:45

she restored my faith in a lot of things.

0:10:450:10:47

-How's it going, chaps? You winning?

-Yep, getting there.

0:10:480:10:51

'I think Sharon has hit a chord with me because I can really relate

0:10:510:10:56

'to what she went through, because I went through exactly the same thing.'

0:10:560:11:00

Now, Sharon as a person, Katie as a person,

0:11:000:11:03

go a long way for me to do a project.

0:11:030:11:06

They're lovely people.

0:11:060:11:08

Sharon does work for a very worthy and deserving cause.

0:11:080:11:15

It's just all little elements and I think, because it will benefit them as a whole,

0:11:150:11:21

but it will benefit Katie, who's still a youngster.

0:11:210:11:27

It's all kind of part of the emotional healing process.

0:11:270:11:30

Sort of cracking the whip on 'em. Can't let 'em slack.

0:11:300:11:33

'Over the last three years,

0:11:330:11:37

'not only has Sharon dealt with the aftermath of a marriage breakdown,

0:11:370:11:41

'she's also started a new job at a homeless charity in Swansea.'

0:11:410:11:45

When you start a new job, you don't know people very well, and of course

0:11:460:11:52

you don't want to tell people what's going on in your personal life.

0:11:520:11:55

You don't yet have that relationship with them.

0:11:550:11:58

So it was really difficult, and, at the beginning, I thought, "Oh, my God, what have I done?"

0:11:580:12:02

Obviously, Katie was - is -

0:12:020:12:05

a big part of my life, and she did have a lot of issues

0:12:050:12:09

going through school because, at the time as well,

0:12:090:12:12

it was the sort of transition between primary school

0:12:120:12:17

and comprehensive school and it didn't go well for her,

0:12:170:12:22

so all my time, really, was taken up with work and Katie.

0:12:220:12:29

'Back in the extension, Jamie has come up with a plan.'

0:12:330:12:36

The smaller room was supposed to be an en suite, but because of

0:12:360:12:40

how it was planned, how the drainage is set up, it's just not viable,

0:12:400:12:47

it's too expensive,

0:12:470:12:48

so what were going to do is,

0:12:480:12:50

I thought that because this has been a very hard process on Katie,

0:12:500:12:54

I would like to do something like a chill-out room,

0:12:540:12:58

basically, a room where she can go in and just sort of relax

0:12:580:13:02

and also do her studies in peace and quiet.

0:13:020:13:07

I think she actually deserves that, you know?

0:13:070:13:09

'It's the following day, and with the plastering magic performed,

0:13:130:13:17

'Jamie is armed with more generous handymen, carpenters Pete and Gaz.'

0:13:170:13:22

'He's also quite pleased with the progress,

0:13:230:13:25

'even though there's still plenty to do.'

0:13:250:13:28

'Once it's at this stage,

0:13:280:13:31

'you can start to sort of a visualise it as a room, you know?'

0:13:310:13:35

This is when you can start to sort of see light at the end of the tunnel, you know?

0:13:350:13:40

And now that the boys are here today, it's in my mind's eye now

0:13:400:13:44

that the skirting and the architraves are going to be on,

0:13:440:13:47

and it's a case of, you can start to think of the finishing touches.

0:13:470:13:51

Once it's dry, the paint and other stuff is going to be going down.

0:13:530:13:57

Yeah, it's a good feeling.

0:13:570:13:59

I call Corey "the solar eclipse", because he only works now and again.

0:14:040:14:10

About once in a blue moon, mate, because you work me so hard.

0:14:100:14:13

-Just carry on now, eh?

-Yeah.

0:14:130:14:16

You ain't a bad boy, really, are you? He's a star, an absolute star.

0:14:160:14:21

If truth be known, whatever goes wrong,

0:14:210:14:24

Corey then digs us out of a hole, really.

0:14:240:14:26

Corey is the glue that holds this whole operation together.

0:14:260:14:29

'Whilst the extension is left in Corey's capable hands,

0:14:350:14:39

'Jamie needs to beg and borrow elsewhere.'

0:14:390:14:42

Just going into town to sort and the donation of carpets.

0:14:420:14:46

Sharon doesn't actually know that the carpets are going down.

0:14:460:14:49

I think, in her mind,

0:14:490:14:51

it is just literally the case of the stage that it's at now,

0:14:510:14:54

and painted, really.

0:14:540:14:56

Which, you know, she would be over the moon with,

0:14:560:14:58

but I'm trying to get every single little finishing touch that I can,

0:14:580:15:02

to make it look as good as we can.

0:15:020:15:05

And hopefully she'll be pleasantly surprised with that.

0:15:050:15:08

-How are you, Steve?

-Pretty good, mate. How you?

-Yes, very good.

0:15:090:15:12

Jamie has spoken to a company about the possibility of donating carpets.

0:15:120:15:19

We appreciate you donating the carpets. Superb.

0:15:190:15:22

Right, I've chatted to the manufacturer. These are the kind of things we're looking at.

0:15:220:15:27

With less than a week to finish the extension,

0:15:290:15:32

it looks as though Jamie is onto a winner.

0:15:320:15:35

Well, in all fairness, we're spoilt for choice here.

0:15:350:15:38

I thought it was just going to be a case of one or the other,

0:15:380:15:42

but we are spoilt for choice.

0:15:420:15:44

So far, Jamie has helped over 20 families.

0:15:480:15:52

One family who has benefited from his generosity is the Worgan family.

0:15:520:15:57

Because their dad has gone to Afghanistan and the kids want to bring their friends back,

0:15:570:16:03

I nominated the family as a group

0:16:030:16:06

because I wanted the living room

0:16:060:16:08

to be decent and it wasn't at the time, it was a mess.

0:16:080:16:11

He, basically, ripped it apart

0:16:110:16:14

and completely replastered the room from top to bottom.

0:16:140:16:18

Then, as a plus point, we came back from holiday

0:16:180:16:23

and he'd completely renovated my daughter's bedroom.

0:16:230:16:26

She was just so happy. We weren't expecting that.

0:16:260:16:29

We were just expecting a basic bit of plastering.

0:16:290:16:32

It made an amazing difference, cos there is no way we would have been able to afford it.

0:16:320:16:36

My daughter's room was covered in mould and we couldn't get rid of it.

0:16:360:16:40

We didn't know what we were going to do.

0:16:400:16:42

We tried papering, but it grew back over the paper.

0:16:420:16:45

So it has made a massive difference. I think he is a star.

0:16:450:16:48

A genuinely nice person who wants to make a difference to people's lives.

0:16:480:16:53

I just think he's a really stand-up guy.

0:16:530:16:56

It is a few days since work has been done in Scurlage. Today, there's a new hive of activity.

0:17:010:17:07

This is Hannah's first time she has helped out.

0:17:090:17:13

Emma has helped out on a number of occasions.

0:17:130:17:15

She has done quite a few jobs and she is absolutely loving it.

0:17:150:17:18

It's people like Emma, having people like Emma aboard,

0:17:180:17:23

it just makes the whole project roll smoothly.

0:17:230:17:27

She's, yeah, she's an absolute diamond.

0:17:270:17:30

I met a Jamie in a pub.

0:17:310:17:33

Erm, I was telling him I was in college

0:17:340:17:38

doing painting and decorating.

0:17:380:17:42

He explained to me what he does

0:17:420:17:44

and I thought it was a really brilliant thing to do.

0:17:440:17:46

I thought, "I'd love to do that."

0:17:460:17:49

I've always wanted to do something for charity,

0:17:490:17:52

but never really known what to do or what you could do to help.

0:17:520:17:56

When I found out about this, I thought, "This is brill."

0:17:560:17:59

So, I've been doing it ever since.

0:17:590:18:02

We haven't been here for the past couple of days,

0:18:020:18:04

because we had to let stuff settle and the plaster to dry out.

0:18:040:18:07

But, yeah, by the end of tomorrow, we should be there or thereabouts

0:18:070:18:14

and then it's a case of waiting for the carpets to be fitted,

0:18:140:18:17

the blinds to be fitted

0:18:170:18:19

and then Steve the carpenter is coming back on Saturday

0:18:190:18:22

to do the finishing touches, such as put on the doors and stuff like that.

0:18:220:18:28

So, we should be there or thereabouts.

0:18:280:18:30

-Is this the second coat that is going on?

-Yep, this is the second one.

0:18:300:18:35

-The second coat.

-This is going on good.

0:18:350:18:40

-Once you've done that, any chance of cracking on next door?

-Yep.

0:18:400:18:43

-And doing it without chatting?!

-Yes!

-So we get a little bit more done.

0:18:430:18:48

-Any chance of that, any danger?

-No(!)

0:18:480:18:50

-I didn't think so, really(!)

-Let's be realistic(!)

0:18:500:18:53

-It's like asking me to hold my breath!

-Yeah!

0:18:550:18:58

Jamie really needs to push the pace if he is to finish the job on time.

0:18:590:19:03

Sharon and Katie are expecting to see the finished extension in two days.

0:19:030:19:08

Yes, on the painting side, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

0:19:090:19:14

We're in the final throes. It's the last finishing touches.

0:19:140:19:19

-I can still smell paint.

-Yeah.

-I was just wondering.

0:19:190:19:22

It's the aroma of progression, let's call it that.

0:19:220:19:27

That's good. That good.

0:19:270:19:28

But, whether you will like the fuchsia pink, is another thing.

0:19:310:19:35

It's, it's, er, progression, nonetheless.

0:19:350:19:38

-It will be a bachelorette pad.

-You will never see her.

0:19:380:19:42

-No.

-You'll think she's left home.

0:19:420:19:45

Perhaps she'll lock me in. That's what will happen.

0:19:450:19:48

-She might get the key for that door and lock me in, so I can't get out.

-I like that idea!

0:19:480:19:53

With the tea break over,

0:19:590:20:00

Jamie will have to work well into the night to get the painting done.

0:20:000:20:04

It's the day before the extension is unveiled.

0:20:140:20:17

The carpets are being laid, but Jamie has other priorities today.

0:20:170:20:21

As you can see, the juggling act is sort of in full swing.

0:20:270:20:33

The juggling act of the project and the paid work.

0:20:330:20:36

I'm here today on my own.

0:20:360:20:39

Corey is on another job, getting it prepped up

0:20:390:20:42

and starting the ball rolling there,

0:20:420:20:44

because we are only a day away from Sharon's big reveal.

0:20:440:20:49

So, yeah, it's a case of getting this job

0:20:490:20:52

and the other job done tomorrow, then we can concentrate on putting our energy and focus

0:20:520:20:58

into bringing Sharon's over the finishing line.

0:20:580:21:01

Because I haven't been there today, but I believe the carpets have being laid today.

0:21:010:21:05

I think the blinds are being installed

0:21:050:21:08

around about four o'clock today.

0:21:080:21:11

There will be a lot happening that I haven't seen yet.

0:21:110:21:13

But, yeah, just really excited about it.

0:21:130:21:16

On the other side of Swansea, Sharon is oblivious to the activity in her home.

0:21:190:21:24

She is on her way to work, supporting vulnerable adults in accessing further education,

0:21:240:21:29

training and employment. It's given her a new focus.

0:21:290:21:33

I've had quite a tough time myself.

0:21:350:21:37

However, when I come to work there are people there who have had it really tough.

0:21:370:21:43

Erm, and it does put things into perspective then.

0:21:430:21:47

It's great to see their achievements

0:21:470:21:51

throughout their learning journey.

0:21:510:21:56

Erm, and it's real job satisfaction, you know.

0:21:560:22:02

This award was a shock to me, because, since I've been on this scheme

0:22:050:22:11

and the certificates I've had, which are fantastic, which I thank you both for...

0:22:110:22:15

Today, Sharon is helping Neil,

0:22:150:22:17

but her thoughts are never too far from the extension.

0:22:170:22:20

'The last couple of nights, I haven't been able to sleep,

0:22:220:22:25

'thinking about what is actually going on in the extension.'

0:22:250:22:29

I came home from work last night

0:22:290:22:32

and as soon as I walked in the back door, it sort of hit me, the smell hit me.

0:22:320:22:38

I knew it was paint. So obviously they are painting out there.

0:22:380:22:42

You can hear noises, and the smells,

0:22:420:22:46

you're thinking, "What are they actually doing?"

0:22:460:22:48

Because I haven't seen it. I can't see through the little window now, because they've blocked it out.

0:22:480:22:53

So, it's wondering all the time what is going on out there.

0:22:530:22:58

So, yeah, it's countdown, now, countdown to Saturday.

0:22:580:23:02

Today is the day that Sharon and Katie will finally see their concrete-shell transformation.

0:23:070:23:13

It's also the day of reckoning for Jamie and his team.

0:23:130:23:17

Once, that is, they've finished admiring their handiwork.

0:23:170:23:20

Superb!

0:23:200:23:22

Ah, they've done a class job.

0:23:230:23:26

That's all the way throughout.

0:23:260:23:28

That's beautiful. Beautiful.

0:23:300:23:33

-Even up the apples!

-Even the plastering's pretty good, eh?

0:23:330:23:36

LAUGHTER

0:23:360:23:37

Oh, mate.

0:23:380:23:39

The finished extension truly will be a turning point for Sharon.

0:23:390:23:43

-Lights and all.

-'It's going to be a massive difference.

0:23:440:23:47

-'It will make a massive difference to us, isn't it, Kate?'

-'Yeah.'

0:23:470:23:51

Erm, I think we'll be able to use the front door again.

0:23:510:23:55

And your friends will be able to come over.

0:23:550:23:58

And, of course, I know Jamie's done a massive amount of work out there.

0:23:580:24:03

It's been a massive help. Because I wouldn't have been able to do it.

0:24:030:24:08

I just wouldn't have been able to do it, so it would have stayed like that.

0:24:080:24:12

It's been quite fun actually.

0:24:120:24:14

We've loved it. We've loved having everybody here.

0:24:150:24:18

It's going to be annoying when they've all gone. It'll be too quiet.

0:24:180:24:22

As is it's Katie's birthday in a few days,

0:24:240:24:26

-Sharon is taking her and friends for lunch...

-Have a good time.

0:24:260:24:30

..before returning home to inspect Jamie's work.

0:24:300:24:33

The clock's ticking, but Jamie seems to be a man down.

0:24:350:24:40

Last time I saw him, he was walking through that way somewhere

0:24:400:24:44

-with a little carton in his hand.

-What's that, a portion of chips?

0:24:440:24:47

He's on the chip bus, is he?

0:24:470:24:49

Let's go and find him, shall we?

0:24:490:24:52

-Corey!

-What?

0:24:520:24:53

Whenever you fancy doing a stroke of work, you know, just let me know,

0:24:560:25:00

it's not as if we are up against a deadline or anything(!) Yeah?

0:25:000:25:04

Corey isn't allowed to refuel for long.

0:25:050:25:08

They only have a few hours to finish the job.

0:25:080:25:11

There's just one more thing before Jamie can relax.

0:25:190:25:22

Both he and Katie are huge Chelsea fans.

0:25:220:25:26

Hang on, what do you think you're doing?!

0:25:260:25:28

-We're improving the room, not making it look worse!

-JAMIE MAKES MUFFLED NOISES

0:25:280:25:32

-Get that down, for goodness sake!

-JAMIE LAUGHS

0:25:320:25:34

It looks as though they may just have finished in time.

0:25:400:25:43

-How are you girls?

-Are you all right?

-Yes.

0:25:460:25:49

It's all good this end.

0:25:490:25:50

As you can see, this is just the first bit as you come into the door.

0:25:550:26:00

-You can finally use...

-Oh, my God, yes.

-..the front door.

0:26:000:26:04

A massive difference. That is so different.

0:26:040:26:08

I believe this is going to be the bedroom for Katie.

0:26:100:26:14

Oh, my God! Oh!

0:26:140:26:17

Oh, my God! It's a room. A real room.

0:26:170:26:21

-What do you think?

-I think it's lovely.

-Again, a massive change.

0:26:240:26:28

It is a massive change. It's ready and you can just move in.

0:26:280:26:33

-There we are. It's great.

-It's amazing.

0:26:330:26:35

This is going to be a chill-out room.

0:26:380:26:41

-This is going to be a chill-out room for you.

-Oh, my God.

-Oh, wow!

0:26:410:26:45

-Look at that.

-Oh, it's amazing.

-That is amazing.

0:26:450:26:50

The T-shirt is signed by John Terry. This can be your little bachelorette pad,

0:26:500:26:56

where you can chill out, have no distractions, do homework,

0:26:560:27:01

-chill, just do whatever you like, you know.

-Yeah.

0:27:010:27:04

-What do you reckon...

-I think it's brill.

0:27:040:27:08

-It's amazing.

-..on you chill-out room?

-It's really, really good.

0:27:080:27:12

It's just perfect, isn't it?

0:27:120:27:16

Finally, Sharon's hopeless burden may well be a distant memory.

0:27:160:27:21

-Thanks, Jamie.

-You're more than welcome. You are more than welcome.

0:27:210:27:25

SHE SOBS

0:27:250:27:26

-This is why we do it.

-Thank you.

-To help people. And you deserve the help.

0:27:280:27:34

-And I'm just pleased that we were here.

-Thank you.

0:27:340:27:39

You're more than welcome.

0:27:390:27:40

More than welcome.

0:27:410:27:42

-It's fabulous.

-Yes.

-It's really great.

0:27:430:27:47

When you get a reaction like that, it makes every single second worth it.

0:27:470:27:52

This is why we do what we do.

0:27:520:27:54

Because we know that it will help people in more ways than one.

0:27:540:28:00

As you can see, I am a bit choked. I can't talk now. But, yeah, it's wonderful.

0:28:010:28:06

You can't thank him enough, really.

0:28:080:28:10

What do you say?

0:28:110:28:12

-Come on, girls.

-It's another achievement for Jamie.

0:28:120:28:15

-But he's hungry for more.

-What's next is more of the same, in all fairness.

0:28:150:28:20

Just people keep on nominating other people.

0:28:200:28:25

We'd look at each nomination on a case-by-case basis

0:28:250:28:30

and just carry on.

0:28:300:28:32

As I like to say, changing the world one room at a time.
