He was pleased that Miss Mouse was right there by his side.

Then all of a sudden they heard a "ROAR!"

"Oh, fiddly-dee! What can that be?" said Miss Mouse.

"Don't worry, Miss Mouse!

"I am brave and strong!" said Toddler Tom.

But then they saw the beast with the roar,

and Tom didn't feel very brave any more.

It was...a lion!

"What a roaring hullabaloo!

"Shoo, lion! Be off with you!" Miss Mouse told the lion.

Then all of a sudden they heard some chatter.

"Oh, fiddly-dee! Whatever's the matter?" squeaked Miss Mouse.

"Don't worry, Miss Mouse, I'm brave and strong!" said Toddler Tom.

But then a beast so chattery leapt down from a jungle tree.

It was...

a monkey!

It tickled Tom. "Hee-hee-hee-hee!"

And Tom was very giggly.

"What a chattery chittaballoo!

"Cheeky monkey, be off with you!" chuckled Miss Mouse.

"Goodness gracious! Now what's this!" squeaked Miss Mouse.

But then a beast with a whispery hiss slid out of the slender grass

a snake!

And the snake said,

"Pleas-s-s-se can I give you a squeez-z-z-z-ze?"

And Tom said, "Of course!"

But Miss Mouse wrung her paws.

"Be off, hissy snake," she cried.

"Go on! Chop chop!

"When a snake starts to squeeze, it does not like to stop."

"Let's go home," said Miss Mouse.

"All our friends will be there.

"And if you want a squeeze,

"they'll have plenty to spare."
