Carole King and Friends at Christmas

I actually collect Christmas records, believe it or not.

The kids know it's Christmas if the Chet Harkins Christmas album goes on.

That's a definite sign that Santa is on his way.

For me, it goes back to Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby,

just those voices that sound like they're sitting next to a fire.

There are standards like Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

that tend to come back and come back,

but there's been additions to that.

You know, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree was a later addition.

Judy Garland, that kind of stuff.

Frank Sinatra, obviously the Rat Pack, Bing Crosby.

Yeah, generally that kind of era.

That was when it all came to life.

People weren't afraid to write lyrics that were innocent

and happy and carefree, and that really captured a moment.

And I think that's why they've stood the test of time.
