# Send her victorious Your majesty, your Royal Highnesses,

:04:57.:05:00.

Lords, ladies and gentlemen, good evening. Welcome to the gardens of

:05:00.:05:06.

Buckingham Palace for this very special Gala as part of the

:05:06.:05:09.

Coronation Festival, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Queen's

:05:09.:05:13.

Coronation. The Royal Warrant Holders are here to celebrate their

:05:13.:05:17.

craft, innovation and excellence over the past 60 years, and tonight

:05:17.:05:21.

we will echo these themes through music, song and dance. Let's start

:05:21.:05:27.

where it all began. June the 2nd, 1953 - the Queen's Coronation in

:05:27.:05:32.

Westminster Abbey - it was a service that honoured an ancient

:05:32.:05:36.

tradition, but for the first time in history, the Coronation was

:05:36.:05:41.

broadcast live on television. More than 20 million people across the

:05:41.:05:45.

UK watched that day, as broadcasting history was made. The

:05:45.:05:49.

most solemn part of the service was the moment when the Queen was

:05:49.:05:55.

anointed with holy oil by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the

:05:55.:06:01.

choir sang Zadok the Priest, the words of which have been sung at

:06:01.:06:06.

every Coronation since King Edgar's in 973.

:06:06.:06:16.
:06:16.:06:16.

To perform Handel's Coronation anthem Zadok the Priest, the

:06:16.:06:18.

English National Ballet and the Bach Choir conducted by Anthony

That was Laura

:14:11.:14:14.

That was Laura Wright, with the Bach Choir, performing A Red, Red

:14:14.:14:19.

Rose, from the poem by Robert Burns. Not long after the Coronation the

:14:19.:14:23.

Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh embarked on a six-month tour of the

:14:23.:14:26.

Commonwealth. Since then they have visited Commonwealth countries more

:14:26.:14:31.

than 200 times. At the start of the Queen's reign, there were just

:14:31.:14:35.

seven nations. Today there are 54 Commonwealth members, representing

:14:35.:14:39.

two billion people. The next piece has been specially

:14:39.:14:46.

created in tribute to this family tree, a big dance and Roman Flight

Weren't they wonderful? Now, we have another special Coronation

Festival Commission next in tribute to Her Majesty by Mike Batt, one of

:18:00.:18:06.

the UK's leading music composers. Tonight's world premier is titled I

:20:08.:20:08.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 81 seconds

:20:08.:22:39.

# Though life is never easy I'm sure many of you have taken the

:22:39.:22:42.

opportunity this evening to explore the beautiful gardens here at

:22:42.:22:46.

Buckingham Palace, and you will, of course, have seen the displays of

:22:46.:22:50.

the Royal Warrant Holders, and they represent all kinds of British

:22:50.:22:53.

industries and pastimes from wallpaper and wellies, shortbread

:22:53.:22:57.

and smoked fish to cheese and chocolates, so if you're feeling a

:22:57.:23:01.

little bit peckish now, just have a look at what we've got on the menu

:23:01.:23:11.
:23:11.:23:33.

# You can't imagine the rapture # Oh, I can cook, too

:23:33.:23:43.
:23:43.:23:49.

# And I can cook, too # Oh, here's an hors d'ouvre

:23:49.:23:59.
:23:59.:24:16.

# Don't tell me not to fly # Have a napkin, have a chopstick

:24:16.:24:26.
:24:26.:24:57.

# Everybody give a cheer # I didn't do it

:24:57.:25:07.
:25:07.:25:07.

What do you call this dish? Coronation chicken.

:25:07.:25:10.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!

:25:10.:25:12.

THEY CHEER

:25:12.:25:22.
:25:22.:25:25.

# Baby, you're cookin' with gas

:25:25.:25:28.

# Oh, you're a gumdrop A sweet lollipop

:25:28.:25:29.

# A brook trout right out of the brook

:25:29.:25:32.

# And what's more, baby I can cook!

:25:32.:25:38.

# And what's more, baby I can cook!

:25:39.:25:42.

One more time!

:25:42.:25:44.

# And what's more, baby I can cook! #

:25:44.:25:50.

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:25:51.:26:00.
:26:01.:26:05.

Now,

:26:05.:26:06.

Now, just

:26:06.:26:06.

Now, just think

:26:06.:26:10.

Now, just think how much Britain has changed since 1953. It was only

:26:10.:26:14.

a few years later that British style, fashion, film and music

:26:14.:26:19.

really took off - from Carnaby Street to Savile Row, pinewood to

:26:19.:26:26.

Abbey Road - the swinging '60s conjure up so many images which

:26:26.:26:28.

still resonate today. Matthew Bourne, with his extraordinary

:26:28.:26:32.

company, New Adventures, is one of our great cultural success stories.

:26:32.:26:37.

So with another special commission for this evening, please welcome to

:26:37.:26:41.

the stage, presented by Big Dance, New Adventures to take us on a

:26:41.:26:51.
:26:51.:26:51.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 81 seconds

# I wasn't lookin' # I tried to hide

:29:12.:29:19.

# But like heaven above me The spy who loved me

:29:19.:29:26.

# Is keepin' all my secrets safe tonight

:29:26.:29:35.

# And nobody does it better

:29:35.:29:40.

# Though sometimes I wish someone could

:29:40.:29:49.

# Nobody does it quite the way you do

:29:49.:29:53.

# Why'd you have to be so good?

:29:53.:30:03.
:30:03.:30:04.

# The way that you hold me Whenever you hold me

:30:04.:30:08.

# There's some kind of magic inside you

:30:08.:30:14.

# That keeps me from runnin' But just keep it comin'

:30:14.:30:21.

# How'd you learn to do the things you do?

:30:21.:30:27.

# Oh, and nobody does it better

:30:27.:30:37.

# Makes me feel sad for the rest

:30:37.:30:41.

# Nobody does it half as good as you

:30:41.:30:50.

# Baby, baby, you're the best

:30:50.:31:00.
:31:00.:31:01.

# Baby, you're the best

:31:01.:31:09.

# Sleep in your bed

:31:09.:31:15.

# Ah, you're the best

:31:15.:31:25.
:31:25.:31:30.

# Baby, you're the best. #

The

The audience

The audience is

:32:12.:32:15.

The audience is taking a quick interval which gives me a chance to

:32:15.:32:20.

catch up with the man you're about the see lot more of, Russell Watson.

:32:20.:32:24.

Have you been anxious backstage? Anxious is the word of the day. I

:32:24.:32:27.

have been doing my warm-ups. This is by no means the only time you

:32:27.:32:30.

have performed at Buckingham Palace, is it? No, I have been here a

:32:30.:32:33.

couple of times in past years. I did something recently for the Duke

:32:34.:32:39.

when he turned 90, which is on the stairs where the stage is erected.

:32:39.:32:42.

I was nervous for that one because he stood with his arms folded for

:32:42.:32:48.

the whole performance, then when I finished he had - I had my

:32:48.:32:56.

microphone in my hand. He said, "What's that?" I said it was a

:32:56.:33:02.

microphone. He said I am you can hear your voice in space!" Maybe

:33:02.:33:05.

they will tonight as well. Thank you very much.

:33:05.:33:09.

I am here with Katherine Jenkins. It's a fantastic line-up so far.

:33:09.:33:15.

What have you enjoyed so far? all amazing. I think the National

:33:15.:33:17.

Youth Orchestra are sounding awesome. It's overwhelming. I think

:33:17.:33:22.

everybody is doing a great job. I am excited to be a part of it.

:33:22.:33:27.

have performed for the Queen many times and for Pope John Paul II and

:33:28.:33:31.

in Iraq and Afghanistan. What's been the highlight for you? I would

:33:31.:33:36.

say Iraq or Afghanistan in terms of it being a proud moment but I think

:33:36.:33:40.

every time you sing for her majesty, it's never something you get used

:33:40.:33:44.

to. I have been lucky enough to do it a few times, and I still get

:33:44.:33:48.

nervous even though I am never nervous. So it's a big deal. Still

:33:48.:33:52.

pinching yourself Still pinching myself. My family are here sitting

:33:52.:33:55.

in the garden. They can't believe they're at Buckingham Palace. It's

:33:55.:34:00.

wonderful to share this moment with them. I'll let you go and warm-up

:34:00.:34:06.

because part two is about to begin. Your Royal Highnesss, Lords, ladies

:34:06.:34:16.
:34:16.:34:52.

and gentlemen, please welcome The # You got me so

Now, 60 years

Now, 60 years and 12 Prime Ministers later, Britain has been

:41:25.:41:29.

through huge change since the Coronation, but there has been one

:41:29.:41:35.

constant, the Queen. Tonight, we are proud to present the premier of

:41:35.:41:39.

Tempus, a collaboration between the English National Ballet and the

fashion designer Julien Macdonald, which reflects on constancy through

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 81 seconds

At the Coronation, television was of course still a novelty. People

:44:48.:44:53.

couldn't have imagined that there would be such a thing as the

:44:53.:44:57.

internet. Nowadays it's really hard to imagine life without it. The

:44:57.:45:01.

composer, Eric Whitacre, is a pioneer at the forefront of both

:45:01.:45:06.

# From glen to glen # The summer's gone

:11:49.:11:58.

# Tis you, tis you must go and I must bide

:11:58.:12:05.

# But come ye back when summer's in the meadow

:12:05.:12:12.

# Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow

:12:12.:12:20.

# I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow

:12:20.:12:30.
:12:30.:12:31.

# Oh, Danny boy

:12:31.:12:33.
:12:33.:12:36.

# I love you

:12:36.:12:43.

# So ye'll take the high road and I'll take the low road

:12:43.:12:46.

# And I'll be in Scotland afore ye

:12:46.:12:50.

# But me and my true love will never meet again

:12:50.:12:54.

# On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

:12:54.:12:58.

# So ye'll take the high road and I'll take the low road

:12:58.:13:02.

# And I'll be in Scotland afore ye

:13:02.:13:05.

# But me and my true love will never meet again

:13:05.:13:10.

# On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

:13:10.:13:20.
:13:20.:13:24.

# I don't know if you can see the changes that have come over me

:13:24.:13:29.

# In these last few days I've been afraid that I might drift away

:13:29.:13:38.

# So I've been telling old stories

:13:38.:13:41.

# Singing songs that make me think about where I came from

:13:41.:13:47.

# And that's the reason why I seem so far away today

:13:48.:13:57.

# Oh, let me tell you that I love you

:13:57.:14:00.

# That I think about you all the time

:14:00.:14:04.

# Caledonia you're calling me and now I'm going home

:14:04.:14:12.

# If I should become a stranger

:14:12.:14:15.

# You know it would make me more than sad

:14:15.:14:20.

# Caledonia's been everything I've ever had

:14:20.:14:27.

# Yes, Caledonia's been everything I've ever had

:14:27.:14:36.

# Do do do do do do do

:14:36.:14:39.

# Do do do do do do do

:14:39.:14:44.

# I won't be king

:14:44.:14:47.

# But you are our queen

:14:47.:14:55.

# And nothing will tear us away

:14:55.:15:03.

# We could be heroes

:15:04.:15:05.

# Just for one day

:15:05.:15:11.

# We could be heroes

:15:11.:15:15.

# We could be heroes

:15:15.:15:21.

# Just say yes

:15:21.:15:22.

# Just say there's nothing holding you back

:15:22.:15:28.

# It's not a test nor a trick of the mind

:15:29.:15:35.

# Only love

:15:35.:15:37.

# Just say

:15:37.:15:38.

# Say the word and learn to believe it

:15:38.:15:48.

# I vow to thee, my country

:15:48.:15:49.

# All earthly things above

:15:49.:15:53.

# Entire and whole and perfect

:15:53.:15:58.

# The service of my love

:15:58.:16:06.

# The love that asks no question

:16:06.:16:10.

# The love that stands the test

:16:10.:16:15.

# That lays upon the altar

:16:15.:16:21.

# The dearest and the best

:16:21.:16:26.

# The love that never falters

:16:27.:16:29.

# The love that never falters

:16:29.:16:35.

# The love that pays the price

:16:35.:16:43.

# The love that makes undaunted

:16:43.:16:51.

# The final sacrifice

:16:51.:17:00.

# The final sacrifice

:17:00.:17:08.

# And her ways are ways of gentleness

:17:08.:17:15.

# And all her paths are peace

:17:16.:17:22.
