Reggae Britannia BBC Four Sessions

Reggae is the heartbeat of the people.

Vibration, which makes everybody all over the world become joyful.

It can make you want to dance, make you want to cry.

-You tap your feet, you can't keep still.

Reggae is the most influential music in the world

and has been for the last 30 years.

The reggae that was coming over from Jamaica that we heard

looked at the world and talked consciously about politics,

about what was going on in society.

As a young black youth growing up,

reggae music was the music that spoke to me.

I was really surprised of the impact it had on the English people.

It's just changed the whole face of British music.

The beat is just there, it just grabs ya. That's why I'm a rude boy.

It's the thumping bass line, and the one-drop beat.

If it wasn't for reggae, we wouldn't have all the rappers

and the DJs that we now have, are now part of modern music.

Reggae music make a connection towards...

..the unification of mankind.
