-is the choice of Rachael Garside...

-..a familiar face and voice to S4C

-viewers and BBC radio listeners.

-She has presented Ffermio on S4C

-and Country Focus on Radio Wales.

-She's a faithful member

-at Cana chapel, near Carmarthen.

-For me, going to chapel

-is a moment of peace.

-A place where your soul can relax...

-..away from the bustle

-of everyday life.

-My life and my work is busy,

-and I'm in the public eye.

-I broadcast live on the radio

-and have to get up really early.

-Time to think is important,

-away from that routine.

-My choice is an obvious one,

-I Bob Un Sydd Ffyddlon.

-It's not a hymn to sing quietly,

-it's a hymn to belt out.

-I've heard it sung at rugby games

-and in pubs, as well as in chapel.

-I think that's important too.

-It summons you, doesn't it?

-It's got everything.

-is Fel Yr Hydd A Fref Am Ddyfroedd.

-Some five years ago...

-..I went through a period

-where I was suffering from anxiety.

-Feelings of panic, and so on.

-I'm not that kind of person at all.

-I found it quite hard

-to deal with the situation.

-I found it difficult

-to go into enclosed spaces.

-Clearly, one such place is a chapel!

-When you're in there,

-it's not easy to go out.

-You can't get up and leave.

-I took the children

-to Sunday school...

-..on a day, perhaps,

-when I wasn't feeling my best.

-This was the first hymn

-that was sung.

-At the time, I just wanted to go...

-..but once I started to sing

-what was a hymn I liked...

-..a kind of peace came over me

-while singing the hymn.

-I felt that everything

-was going to be OK.

-Catrin Heledd Jones farms in Peniel,

-a village outside Carmarthen...

-..on Hengil Fach Farm.

-It's a mixed farm,

-with sheep and dairy cattle.

-When I was a child, I remember

-going to weddings with my mother.

-Calon Lan was sung often, and

-I associated it with happy events.

-Close on 18 years ago,

-I chose it when I got married.

-There's so much emphasis on fame

-and such trivia nowadays.

-This hymn's words make us think

-about what's actually important.

-Family and friends.

-The words are on your wall at home.

-It was a wedding present

-from my mother.

-She enjoyed embroidering

-to mark special occasions.

-For our wedding,

-she stitched the names...

-..of the ministers,

-in-laws, my family and so on...

-..and she also included

-We look up and see them

-every time we eat at the table.

-I was on a cruise in Alaska.

-One day, the ship

-sailed along a strait.

-It was narrow,

-and the ship was huge.

-The sky was blue,

-the sea was turquoise...

-..and literally mountains of ice...

-..like a wall on either side of us.

-You couldn't hear a sound

-on board the ship.

-Everyone was in awe.

-Suddenly, you heard cracks.

-Chunks of ice

-melting in the sunshine...

-..and crashing into the sea.

-I remember looking down at the sea.

-A lump of ice floating by...

-..with a seal lying on it,

-giving birth to a pup.

-Well, that's God

-the Creator for you.

-But the glory of the hymn...

-..is not so much

-in the first two verses...

-..with God the Creator...

-..but in the third verse,

-with God the benefactor.

-The man who chose our next hymn

-is a familiar face all over Wales.

-Delme Thomas captained Llanelli...

-..played for Wales, and toured

-three times with the Lions.

-But through all his rugby success,

-his faith has been important to him.

-The chapel has been important to me

-since I was a child in Bancyfelin.

-Mam always sent us to Sunday school,

-whether we wanted to go or not.

-I remember, when I was seven

-or eight years old...

-..having to read this hymn out

-in front of the congregation...

-..back in the early 1950s.

-That's why I've chosen it.

-I haven't forgotten it since.

-That's my favourite.

-Llinos Roberts is a GP and lecturer.

-She and husband Aled are raising

-three children in Carmarthen.

-I've chosen

-Glan Geriwbiaid A Seraffiaid.

-It was the favourite hymn

-of my great-grandmother.

-One of my great-grandmothers,

-Nain Ffowcs.

-The hymn is important to me too,

-because as she got older...

-..the chapel meant a lot to her,

-and she attended faithfully.

-But as she got older,

-she couldn't go every week.

-But she enjoyed listening to hymns

-in bed or in her chair.

-As a family,

-we'd join in the singing.

-We'd all belt out

-this particular hymn...

-..then everybody quietened down

-for the last line...

-..to hear Nain Ffowcs

-caressing the words...

-.."Holy, holy, holy Lord."
