know. In a ditch, probably. Hiding. On over the place, to be honest. I

:00:14.:00:19.

have heard about a place called the rabbit hole. Hopefully celebrating

:00:20.:00:24.

in a wigwam. Loitering? With my family and friends. I am not telling

:00:25.:00:27.

you where you can find me! Hello and welcome back to

:00:28.:00:51.

Glastonbury 2014. Day two and I'll only feel like I have been here a

:00:52.:00:56.

week and a half, in a good way. You have. We have done three radio shows

:00:57.:01:01.

already. I am on top of everything and it is going really well. Great

:01:02.:01:05.

to be with you. We are overlooking the site. Hello, everybody.

:01:06.:01:09.

Thousands of people waving, but there is no camera so we can gloss

:01:10.:01:15.

over that! We were told there might be a repeat of the electrical storm

:01:16.:01:21.

and it has just started to rain. A little bit of precipitation

:01:22.:01:24.

forecast. If lightning happens, we have got plan B. The weather has

:01:25.:01:29.

been something from Bohemian Rhapsody but it has also been fun so

:01:30.:01:36.

far. The Manic Street Preachers are coming to chat to us later. Before

:01:37.:01:41.

we do any of that, let's catch you up on what has been happening, shall

:01:42.:01:42.

we? # You are supposed to care.

:01:43.:02:14.

# All you do is take. Lily Allen. She was brilliant

:02:15.:02:43.

yesterday. And Debbie Harry. All round a colourful day. Blondie were

:02:44.:02:47.

looking more monochrome. But you just saw the spectacular performance

:02:48.:02:53.

from Arcade Fire. Like a carnival. Everything and several kitchen

:02:54.:02:56.

sinks. Pink Floyd have got nothing on them. Brilliant. We don't want to

:02:57.:03:03.

go on about the weather but there were consequences of the electrical

:03:04.:03:07.

storm. All of the stages were closed down and certain acts got taken off

:03:08.:03:13.

mid set. In the acoustic tent they went after two songs. Even the

:03:14.:03:17.

acoustic tent? Yes, that they sang among us, so it really was acoustic!

:03:18.:03:23.

Rudimental had a main stage act and they were gutted. Literally in

:03:24.:03:27.

tears. I am sure people watching the coverage at home last year will

:03:28.:03:40.

remember how great they were on the other was their big shot at the

:03:41.:03:43.

Pyramid and then the heavens opened. I think they had got to their big

:03:44.:03:48.

track, which is called Spoons. Then it went wrong. Everybody has been

:03:49.:03:52.

feeling sorry for them and they have got press out, which means it has

:03:53.:03:58.

been OK in the end. This is Rudimental from the Pyramid stage

:03:59.:03:59.

yesterday. # I feel the chemicals burning my

:04:00.:05:29.

bloodstream. # Thought I had found her.

:05:30.:06:05.

# God make me another one. # God forgive me for the things I

:06:06.:06:08.

have done. # I was never meant to hurt no one.

:06:09.:06:20.

# Brokenhearted. # No, don't leave me lonely.

:06:21.:06:37.

# Oh, colour crimson in my eyes. # This is how it ends.

:06:38.:06:42.

# I feel the chemicals burning my bloodstream.

:06:43.:06:51.

# Fading out again. # I feel the chemicals burning my

:06:52.:06:53.

bloodstream. # Tell me when it kicks in.

:06:54.:07:49.

# All the voices calling across the line.

:07:50.:07:53.

# All the voices in my mind. # Calling out across the line.

:07:54.:07:58.

# All the voices in my mind. # Calling out across the line.

:07:59.:08:04.

# All the voices in my mind. # Calling out across the line.

:08:05.:08:09.

# All the voices in my mind. # Calling out across the line.

:08:10.:08:14.

# While the voices in my mind. # Calling out across the line.

:08:15.:08:21.

# All the voices in my mind. # Calling out across the line.

:08:22.:08:27.

# All the voices in my mind. # Tell me when it kicks in.

:08:28.:08:36.

Glastonbury! How does it feel right now?

:08:37.:08:53.

We ain't done yet. We not finished with you.

:08:54.:09:18.

That feels right. Glastonbury, can I get you to come down low with us?

:09:19.:09:27.

Can we get down low? Can you get down low with us?

:09:28.:09:37.

Get down low. Get down low. Get down. And here, too. Get down. Get

:09:38.:10:02.

down. # In my bloodstream, in my

:10:03.:10:12.

bloodstream. # In my bloodstream.

:10:13.:10:25.

# Tell me when it kicks in. # Tell me when it kicks in.

:10:26.:10:36.

# Tell me when it kicks in. Thank you. Make some noise for

:10:37.:11:22.

Rudimental. Can you make some noise for Ed?

:11:23.:11:27.

There you go. They might have been cut off that they were having a

:11:28.:11:33.

great time and I have never seen anybody having a piggyback off

:11:34.:11:37.

security. Lucky he was a big lad because there are some spry girls at

:11:38.:11:42.

the front. What would have happened then? Not everybody was

:11:43.:11:45.

enthusiastically getting down low. It is too muddy, make! Everybody has

:11:46.:11:52.

been standing up for six hours! But it was a great set from them. And Ed

:11:53.:11:58.

Sheeran. I remember him three years ago sitting patiently like a little

:11:59.:12:02.

ginger health on a toadstool in our studios that in the compound waiting

:12:03.:12:08.

patiently to do his first acoustic. And look where he is now. A lady did

:12:09.:12:13.

an acoustic performance for us in the BBC music TP on BBC six music.

:12:14.:12:19.

She played yesterday and she is playing this afternoon as well. She

:12:20.:12:21.

is from Melbourne. # I sleep in late another day.

:12:22.:13:13.

# Oh, what a wonder, what a waste. # It is a Monday, Monday. Things

:13:14.:13:25.

will happen today. # I guess the neighbours must think

:13:26.:13:30.

we run a meth lab. # We should amend that.

:13:31.:13:35.

# I pull the sheets back. # It is 40 degrees and I feel like I

:13:36.:13:38.

am dying. # Life is getting hard in here so I

:13:39.:13:42.

do some gardening. # Anything to take my mind away from

:13:43.:13:46.

where it is supposed to be. # The nice lady next door talks of

:13:47.:13:51.

green beds and the nice things she wants to plant.

:13:52.:13:55.

# I want to grow tomatoes on the doorsteps.

:13:56.:14:00.

# Sunflowers, bean sprouts, sweetcorn and radishes.

:14:01.:14:04.

# I feel proactive, I pull out weeds.

:14:05.:14:06.

# All of a sudden I am having trouble breathing in.

:14:07.:14:13.

# I am having trouble breathing in. # I am having trouble breathing in.

:14:14.:14:36.

# My hands are shaky. # My knees are weak # I can?t seem to stand # On my

:14:37.:15:35.

own two feet I?m breathing but i?m wheezing

:15:36.:15:38.

Feel like i?m emphysem-in? My throat feels like a funnel Filled with weet

:15:39.:15:42.

bix and kerosene and Oh no, next thing i know They call up triple o

:15:43.:15:46.

I?d rather die than owe the hospital Till I get old I get adrenalin

:15:47.:15:49.

Straight to the heart I feel like was really sick and i Had too much

:15:50.:15:52.

psuedoefedryn and i Couldn?t sleep at night Halfway down high street,

:15:53.:15:55.

andy looks ambivalent He?s probably wondering what i?m doing getting in

:15:56.:15:59.

:16:00.:16:05.

she?s clever cos she stops people i?m clever cos i play guitar I think

:16:06.:16:08.

she?s clever cos she stops people dying Anaphylactic and super

:16:09.:16:10.

hypocondriactic Should?ve stayed in bed today I much prefer the mundane.

:16:11.:16:14.

I take a hit from An asthma puffer I do it wrong I was never good

:16:15.:16:16.

at smoking bongs. I?m not that good at breathing in.

:16:17.:17:15.

Thank you. Her name is Courtney Barnett and that is the best song

:17:16.:17:25.

you're going to hear this year about having a panic attack when you're

:17:26.:17:31.

doing the gardening. She is on at five o'clock today. You can check

:17:32.:17:34.

out all the stages live on the Glastonbury website. If you want to

:17:35.:17:40.

watch said as it happens, you can. All of the six stages at the

:17:41.:17:45.

festival are streaming live. She was great. She reminded me of Patti

:17:46.:17:50.

Smith. I just love the sparse backing. It shows you the sustaining

:17:51.:17:55.

power of guitar bass drums. It was good stuff. Look at the new columns

:17:56.:18:02.

at the side of the Park Stage. I have a new this year? I think so.

:18:03.:18:08.

They are very attractive. It is like John Nash has been around. We are

:18:09.:18:15.

going to have to live acoustic music now. This is a lady who is bringing

:18:16.:18:21.

country music to new audiences, both at home in the States and here. She

:18:22.:18:25.

has covered Dolly Parton who will be playing tomorrow at four o'clock. I

:18:26.:18:34.

have a Dolly Parton by John. I am so jealous. It is probably not that

:18:35.:18:47.

impressive at distance. This woman is from Golden in taxes. Here we go.

:18:48.:19:31.

If you ain't got two kids by 21, You're probably gonna die alone.

:19:32.:19:35.

Least that's what tradition told you.

:19:36.:19:37.

And it don't matter if you don't believe,

:19:38.:19:39.

Come Sunday morning, you best be there in the front row like you're

:19:40.:20:17.

supposed to. # Same hurt in every heart.

:20:18.:20:20.

# Same trailer, different park. # Mama's hooked on Mary Kay.

:20:21.:20:22.

# Brother's hooked on Mary Jane. # Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors

:20:23.:20:24.

down. # Mary, Mary quite contrary.

:20:25.:20:27.

# We get bored, so, we get married # Just like dust, we settle in this

:20:28.:21:11.

town. # We think the first time's good

:21:12.:21:13.

enough. # So, we hold on to high school

:21:14.:21:15.

love. # Sayin' we won't end up like our

:21:16.:21:17.

parents. # Tiny little boxes in a row.

:21:18.:21:21.

# Ain't what you want, it's what you know.

:21:22.:21:23.

# Just happy in the shoes you're wearin'.

:21:24.:21:25.

# Same checks we're always cashin' to buy a little more distraction.

:21:26.:21:29.

# 'Cause mama's hooked on Mary Kay. # Brother's hooked on Mary Jane.

:21:30.:21:33.

# Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down.

:21:34.:21:34.

# Mary, Mary, quite contrary. # We get bored, so, we get married.

:21:35.:21:38.

# Just like dust, we settle in this town.

:21:39.:21:40.

# On this broken merry go 'round and 'round and 'round we go

:21:41.:21:43.

# Where it stops nobody knows and it ain't slowin' down.

:21:44.:21:45.

# This merry go 'round. # Mary, Mary, quite contrary.

:21:46.:22:01.

# We're so bored until we're buried. # Just like dust, we settle in this

:22:02.:22:04.

town. # On this broken merry go 'round.

:22:05.:22:16.

# Merry go 'round. # Jack and Jill went up the hill.

:22:17.:22:27.

# Jack burned out on booze and pills.

:22:28.:22:54.

# And Mary had a little lamb. Mary just don't give a damn no more.

:22:55.:23:06.

Glastonbury is great. It is wonderful to have a mix of different

:23:07.:23:12.

voices altogether in the one place. Yes, and there are voices which

:23:13.:23:18.

carry a political message. There is always lots of campaigning, in a

:23:19.:23:22.

gentle way of Glastonbury. One of the voices associated with that was

:23:23.:23:27.

the late Tony Benn. He became a fixture on the folk circuit with the

:23:28.:23:30.

singer songwriter Roy Bailey. He formed a bit of a jewel with him. He

:23:31.:23:36.

has been a regular visitor to these parts, particularly with Billy

:23:37.:23:41.

Bright. Let's have a look at Tony Bennett Glastonbury. When I come

:23:42.:23:50.

here and I look at all the young people at Glastonbury, I realise

:23:51.:23:54.

that my grandchildren and you are going to have to build the world

:23:55.:24:02.

afresh. The idea that hundreds of thousands of others are gathering in

:24:03.:24:08.

religion -- gathering in rural England to share experiences and

:24:09.:24:11.

discuss ideas, it is an idea that goes back centuries. Tony Benn

:24:12.:24:15.

wanted to be the person that encouraged us. He really enjoyed

:24:16.:24:27.

himself. He was funny. This being our first year without Tony Benn as

:24:28.:24:31.

headliner, he was the one who always drew a crowd. We have kept pride of

:24:32.:24:35.

place for Tony in the centre of the stage. We will keep his banner. He

:24:36.:24:43.

encouraged us. We will take the whole thing off with a special

:24:44.:24:49.

tribute to Tony. Myself, and Mike Leavis, and his granddaughter will

:24:50.:24:54.

say a few words. My name is Emily Benn. I was privileged enough to be

:24:55.:24:59.

the granddaughter of Tony. There are not many people whose Glastonbury

:25:00.:25:04.

companion is there it here at year -- 88-year-old grandfather. When he

:25:05.:25:10.

spoke and 20 read what he had to say, you got the sense of something

:25:11.:25:15.

profound going on. We miss that from politics and therefore we missed

:25:16.:25:20.

someone like him. The fight that he came from a working-class background

:25:21.:25:24.

did not stop him from understanding the problems that people face. He

:25:25.:25:31.

was just so inspirational. He could talk to anybody. One time he

:25:32.:25:39.

actually drove through the festival and an open top linking convertible.

:25:40.:25:45.

He used to say that when he was low and needed a boost, he knew pretty

:25:46.:25:49.

could come to, Glastonbury, and he would feel better. If we set our

:25:50.:25:55.

minds to it, there is nothing we cannot achieve. He was very big on

:25:56.:26:02.

radical Christianity and so on. Lots of that is shared by the guy that

:26:03.:26:06.

founded and runs the Glastonbury Festival, Mike Leavis. It was the

:26:07.:26:11.

nonconformism that we were both weaned on. Both him and my family.

:26:12.:26:24.

We have renamed the left-field power. It is pretty appropriate to

:26:25.:26:31.

call it the power of strength. That cannot be a better title. He loved

:26:32.:26:37.

what was on it, people pulling backwards together in solidarity.

:26:38.:26:41.

For it to be named after him, that is amazing.

:26:42.:26:51.

Tony Bennett Glastonbury. Lots of that centred around the left-field

:26:52.:26:57.

stage, and Billy Brown. Once again, you cannot get away. The Manic

:26:58.:27:02.

Street Preachers are here. It is an awkward scheduling Cuenca DIMMs.

:27:03.:27:07.

Welcome. Well done. You Smith that out, the backstage toilet

:27:08.:27:13.

facilities. Yes, we were having a funny discussion on Twitter the

:27:14.:27:16.

other night. How has the festival been for you so far? IT must last

:27:17.:27:22.

night and did some busking. Then I had to go back to Cardiff and see my

:27:23.:27:27.

kid and my dog. We got here two hours ago. I will climb onto four in

:27:28.:27:33.

the morning. You are on the other stage at half past seven tonight.

:27:34.:27:38.

Your record, it is a great festival record. I am not sure that anyone

:27:39.:27:45.

will know it yet. It is an epic sound. I have come in my Eastern

:27:46.:27:58.

Block trench coat. But the big riffs of the new album, it will work well.

:27:59.:28:04.

You do not want to overdo it and bore everyone. I cannot help

:28:05.:28:09.

noticing that neither Paris is appearing at the festival today, and

:28:10.:28:14.

that obviously you guys around. You have a song together. I am wondering

:28:15.:28:18.

if you have any guess that may join you on the stage later? We could not

:28:19.:28:31.

get it to happen. Nina Persson. Kate Lobont. We are going to have

:28:32.:28:36.

somebody on stage with us tonight, definitely. Other Nina. I do going

:28:37.:28:43.

to be winning that had. It is my rugby had. I am sorry. We will have

:28:44.:28:50.

on our demand when we get back to the bus. Be used or have the big

:28:51.:28:55.

flag on your amplifiers? Yes, it is glued on with sweat and hard work.

:28:56.:29:00.

You said you are going through to four in the morning. Yes. I only

:29:01.:29:06.

ever get drunk at sporting occasions. This is my other excuse.

:29:07.:29:11.

I have got some good linkups tonight. It is a heavy crew. What

:29:12.:29:18.

about you, when are you going to bed? I'm hoping to get back for

:29:19.:29:26.

Uruguay against Colombia. I enjoyed the coverage last night. It was

:29:27.:29:32.

great last night. That is my ideal match. Thank you for coming to see

:29:33.:29:43.

us. The Manic Street Preachers, check out their new album. It is

:29:44.:29:48.

brilliant. We are going to go to Gemma. She is making friends.

:29:49.:30:02.

We are in the hospitality area schmoozing. Apparently this is where

:30:03.:30:06.

the serious fashionistas hang out. Is this true? I think so. We can

:30:07.:30:14.

represent our own style, you know. I have seen some interesting outfits.

:30:15.:30:18.

This is particularly fetching. This is what I am talking about. This is

:30:19.:30:23.

perfect because you can wear whatever you want underneath it. If

:30:24.:30:26.

you are not familiar with these wonders, this visual splendour on

:30:27.:30:34.

your eyes, it is The Cuban Brothers, of course! Who else would you find

:30:35.:30:40.

in hospitality but these VIPs? How are you finding the dripping? I am

:30:41.:30:48.

dealing with it. I am outside. It is a little bit soggy. How do you keep

:30:49.:30:54.

it up? I have a waterproof thing underneath. So if I get wet on top,

:30:55.:31:01.

I have a waterproof underneath. Can you give some morale boosting tips

:31:02.:31:07.

for our hungover bottoms? He does not speak very good English! I think

:31:08.:31:13.

the best thing to do is maybe laminate your body or something.

:31:14.:31:19.

Maybe cover yourself in WD-40 say the water is just falling off you in

:31:20.:31:26.

this manner. It is just water. It is not going to damage you. It is a

:31:27.:31:30.

beautiful thing. It is Glastonbury 2014. What is the weirdest thing

:31:31.:31:36.

that you have seen since you have been here? I only just got here five

:31:37.:31:40.

minutes ago so maybe you looking so fabulous. I am the weirdest thing

:31:41.:31:45.

you have seen? That is not what I said. OK... He is not very well. He

:31:46.:31:52.

has just woken up. The strangest thing I have seen, to be honest,

:31:53.:31:58.

there was an entertainer back in the day and there was a guy who had

:31:59.:32:03.

another gripe on a harness and they work bouncing around the field. --

:32:04.:32:08.

another guy. It was the most wonderful thing I have seen so far.

:32:09.:32:18.

OK! Harnesses, VIP chat, all with the Cuban Brothers in the

:32:19.:32:22.

hospitality area. That is the spirit, isn't it? They are known for

:32:23.:32:27.

DJ naked and break dancing when they get going. I was once at a house

:32:28.:32:32.

party when they did it and there was a laminate floor. The squeak of

:32:33.:32:36.

flesh as the back spinning began haunts me to this day. I find it

:32:37.:32:42.

hard to partake of their work. I was keen on them but I feel less keen

:32:43.:32:46.

after that! Waterproof layers, next to your skin with closing on top.

:32:47.:32:54.

Laminate yourself? Good step. I tell you who will not take that tipped to

:32:55.:32:57.

heart because she is fabulously attired wherever she goes. It is the

:32:58.:33:07.

phenomenal new album Food, named after the fact that she nearly left

:33:08.:33:12.

music after training as a cordon bleu chef. I wonder if she sampled

:33:13.:33:17.

everything here? She probably did. She took her own food truck to the

:33:18.:33:22.

Southwest Festival. She is the ever fresh and wonderful Kelis.

:33:23.:33:38.

If you know this one, get ready to sing along!

:33:39.:33:51.

# I showed you that I love too. # You might trick me once. Won't let

:33:52.:34:03.

you trick me twice. Seen it here one too many times.

:34:04.:34:19.

# So you might trick me once. # I won't let you trick me twice.

:34:20.:34:24.

# You might trick me once. # I won't let you trick me twice.

:34:25.:34:30.

# You might trick me once. # I won't let you trick me twice.

:34:31.:34:32.

# I won't let you trick me twice. # It is only because I am not with

:34:33.:34:50.

you that you make me number one. # Although I love you, it hurts me

:34:51.:34:54.

deep inside. # Now you no longer have to hide.

:34:55.:35:02.

# Started getting heavy when I really wasn't ready.

:35:03.:35:10.

# Called the police, there is a man gone down.

:35:11.:35:13.

# It is not how I want to get down. # Might trick me once

:35:14.:35:38.

# I won't let you trick me twice This next song is one of my

:35:39.:36:53.

favourites off my new album. For the simple reason just that there are so

:36:54.:36:57.

many break-up songs and nobody ever talks about after you are Andy and

:36:58.:37:03.

-- angry and sad. The practical stuff, which is important, too. I

:37:04.:37:08.

want all my stuff back! I like this one.

:37:09.:37:28.

# It is the strangest thing to have you back in my face.

:37:29.:37:38.

# With all these years past, I got used to my space.

:37:39.:37:46.

# I don't know how to feel. # This whole thing seems so surreal.

:37:47.:37:53.

# So you keep one foot out the door. # Baby, don't go.

:37:54.:37:59.

# We got so much history. # I hurt you, you heard me.

:38:00.:38:06.

# No, we don't need therapy. # What I need is you here.

:38:07.:38:14.

# And even though I know I'm right. # Just like a lapse in my memory.

:38:15.:38:20.

# I want you, baby, don't go. # Baby, don't go.

:38:21.:38:27.

# I'm so glad you gave me back my keys.

:38:28.:38:30.

# Oh, I'm so glad you gave me back my keys.

:38:31.:38:37.

# I'm so glad you give back my keys. # My keys.

:38:38.:38:55.

# You got so many issues. # I am just helping myself that I

:38:56.:39:03.

don't know who is going to help you. # Like a lapse in my memory, I want

:39:04.:39:09.

you. # Baby, don't go.

:39:10.:39:20.

# Don't go. # Baby, don't.

:39:21.:39:28.

# Stay the night. # Don't go.

:39:29.:39:38.

# Baby, baby, don't. # You go back my keys.

:39:39.:39:55.

# Oh, I'm so glad you give back my keys

:39:56.:40:00.

# Oh, I'm so glad you give back my keys

:40:01.:40:04.

# Oh, I'm so glad you give back my keys

:40:05.:40:09.

# Oh, I'm so glad you give back my keys

:40:10.:40:18.

# Oh, I'm so glad you give back my keys

:40:19.:40:24.

# Game over. # Give me what I want.

:40:25.:41:33.

# Give me what I need. # I am Becky you, please.

:41:34.:41:38.

# I am down on my knees. # Give me what I want, give me what

:41:39.:41:42.

I need. # I am begging you, please.

:41:43.:41:44.

# I am down on my knees. # Give me what I want.

:41:45.:41:58.

# Give me what I need. # I am begging you, please.

:41:59.:42:06.

# I am down on my knees. # Give me what I want, give me what

:42:07.:42:29.

# Give me what I want. # Give me what I need.

:42:30.:42:31.

# I am begging you, please. # I am down on my knees.

:42:32.:42:35.

# Give me what I want. # Give me what I need.

:42:36.:42:38.

# I am begging you, please. # I am down on my knees.

:42:39.:42:41.

# Give me what I want. # Give me what I need.

:42:42.:42:44.

# I am begging you, please. # I am down on my knees.

:42:45.:42:48.

# Give me what I want. # Give me what I need.

:42:49.:42:52.

# I am begging you, please. # I am down on my knees.

:42:53.:43:09.

# You are not even my type. I want tall. All the way back there in the

:43:10.:43:22.

corner. Yeah, you. # To us?

:43:23.:43:28.

# Year, you. # Ice cold water.

:43:29.:43:36.

# Give me ice-cold water. # She needs ice-cold water. Say it

:43:37.:43:44.

again. # She needs ice-cold water. One more

:43:45.:43:47.

time. # She needs ice-cold water.

:43:48.:44:01.

# Rock back and forth, baby. # No, not too close to me.

:44:02.:44:06.

# Rock back and forth, baby. # No, not too close to me.

:44:07.:44:14.

# Give me what I want. # Give me what I need.

go. I just want to dance, is that all right?

:45:33.:45:35.

CHEERING # La la-la la la,

:45:36.:46:40.

# Warm it up. # Lala-lalala,

:46:41.:46:54.

# The boys are waiting My milkshake brings all the boys to

:46:55.:46:56.

the yard, And they're like

:46:57.:46:58.

It's better than yours, Damn right it's better than yours,

:46:59.:47:00.

I can teach you, But I have to charge

:47:01.:47:17.

I can see you're on it, You want me to teach thee

:47:18.:47:19.

Techniques that freaks these boys, It can't be bought,

:47:20.:47:21.

Just know, thieves get caught, Watch if your smart,

:47:22.:47:34.

# And they're like # It's better than yours,

:47:35.:47:37.

# Damn right it's better than yours, # I can teach you,

:47:38.:47:38.

# But I have to charge CHEERING

:47:39.:47:54.

That is a classic track. Milkshake. And some brilliant tracks

:47:55.:47:59.

from her new album. It is well worth checking out. Great fun. What a

:48:00.:48:07.

great band and a great voice. That song has always worried me. If you

:48:08.:48:11.

are setting up a milkshake emporium, high Street frontage is

:48:12.:48:15.

what you want. You think that the customer should be prepared to

:48:16.:48:18.

travel. You cannot assume they are going to. It has worked for her. She

:48:19.:48:25.

has got quite a lot going for her. If I had been her business adviser,

:48:26.:48:29.

I would have said, that is a long shot.

:48:30.:48:35.

Maybe she thinks outside the box. A sunny afternoon at Glastonbury. That

:48:36.:48:40.

was perfect. She knows what she is doing. That was more or less a few

:48:41.:48:47.

moments ago at Glastonbury. We have Nina Persson coming up. She is

:48:48.:48:54.

behind us. She is on the Parks page. You can watch everything as it

:48:55.:49:00.

happens on the website. Right now, we are going to take you back a

:49:01.:49:05.

year, for a sound reason. We spoke about Tony Benn. He was a voice and

:49:06.:49:10.

presence at Glastonbury. We heard very recently, while we have been on

:49:11.:49:15.

the site, someone who made a big impact in recent times has also

:49:16.:49:20.

sadly passed away. It is the great Bobby Womack. I was like enough to

:49:21.:49:23.

have him on my radio programme and to see him live three times last

:49:24.:49:28.

year. Even though his health was not great, he was being driven to the

:49:29.:49:32.

stage rather than walking there, his voice was incredible. Better than

:49:33.:49:38.

ever. Again, I great band and Kenya had to put on a show. He made sure

:49:39.:49:44.

he had a cracking band with him. He was loving every minute of it. I

:49:45.:49:48.

spoke to him at the latitude Festival and he was full of

:49:49.:49:51.

fantastic stories and having a great time. We thought it would be nice to

:49:52.:49:57.

remember the great Bobby Womack with this performance. This was last

:49:58.:49:58.

year. # But I have to charge

:49:59.:50:25.

# With the things you say Shatter your world.

:50:26.:50:37.

Deep in your heart, with negative vibes

:50:38.:50:56.

Let me hear you all singing one time. That is such sad news.

:50:57.:51:36.

Especially at the festival really give such brilliant performances.

:51:37.:51:40.

Everybody is thinking about him today. We should be thankful for the

:51:41.:51:46.

great work you did that the end of his life. Absolutely. His last album

:51:47.:51:55.

was brilliant. Superb. We have loads more to bring you. Nina Persson on

:51:56.:52:01.

the stage behind us. Lots of good people on that stage today. This is

:52:02.:52:08.

someone else that we are both fans. She has appeared on both the version

:52:09.:52:12.

was. Yes, and she was still playing when we arrived to present this

:52:13.:52:14.

programme for you. vibes

:52:15.:53:15.

# I haven't seen you in the longest while

:53:16.:53:38.

# I thank you # I'll help you, I'll help you

:53:39.:54:20.

# I took a back seat # Everyone agreed to help you

:54:21.:54:45.

# I can't help you, I can't help you # After the fact, we were out of

:54:46.:54:46.

steam # Can't help you, can't help

:54:47.:55:31.

# Can't help you, can't help you # Can't help you, can't help

:55:32.:56:01.

# Can't help you, can't help you I love that song. It reminds me of

:56:02.:56:24.

other bands. Yes, I love the saxophone. We have been finding out

:56:25.:56:31.

on the television about the people that make the festival take. This is

:56:32.:56:36.

what we're going to be speaking about next. I have written

:56:37.:56:41.

tomorrow's front-page story on the onside newspaper. Has that broke the

:56:42.:56:48.

exclusive. It has not. It is going to be good. They publish this every

:56:49.:56:52.

day at Festival time. I have trodden on this. We are in a Glastonbury

:56:53.:57:01.

tales series. We're finding out about the people that run

:57:02.:57:04.

institutions like this. We are finding out about the man behind

:57:05.:57:10.

this paper right now. I am Denis Gould from Stroud. I am part of the

:57:11.:57:17.

Glastonbury free press. It took us completely by surprise last year,

:57:18.:57:22.

the first year. We came to print the Glastonbury free press and as soon

:57:23.:57:27.

as we opened the tent, the world's media were filming not pass but this

:57:28.:57:30.

beautiful machine, the Rolls-Royce of letter prices. Printing 20,000

:57:31.:57:41.

copies take six or seven hours. It is distributed through the

:57:42.:57:44.

information points, cafes. People walking around the side. People come

:57:45.:57:58.

looking for it. I hated poetry when I left school. I came out and

:57:59.:58:04.

discovered boots and started buying and selling bits. I published

:58:05.:58:10.

pamphlets and poems, from the 60s. People relate to playing cards. I

:58:11.:58:14.

get all packs and print my words and other peoples words on them. Take a

:58:15.:58:20.

card, any card, gamble your life away. Take a pass, any path, ramble

:58:21.:58:28.

your life away. Take a bike, any bicycle, cycle your life away. I

:58:29.:58:35.

like the immediacy of it. Poets have always been subversive. We have

:58:36.:58:38.

always been to the forefront of change. I think you can see poetry

:58:39.:58:45.

changing society. We have seen a whole host of performances that

:58:46.:58:55.

revolve around words. Marvellous. Wonderful. Really sweet. I just had

:58:56.:59:01.

a flashback to school. We had printing presses like that. We

:59:02.:59:07.

printed posters for our first gig. That is part of what makes

:59:08.:59:10.

Glastonbury so special, those things that bring you echo is of the past.

:59:11.:59:16.

Absolutely. It is all about the continuity and embracing change at

:59:17.:59:20.

the same time. Tradition is unimportant. It is like Christmas,

:59:21.:59:25.

it does not matter what happens, it is still Christmas. We are moving on

:59:26.:59:32.

to more music. We have the wonderful war paint, on the other stage.

:59:33.:00:00.

# I could not believe what I was seeing.

:00:01.:00:13.

# Seeing is believing. # How can we, when do we forget

:00:14.:00:18.

where we came from? # Touch the stars.

:00:19.:00:57.

# I could not believe what you had said.

:00:58.:01:10.

# With all your experience was your crowd in?

:01:11.:01:14.

# You read there when I first believed in.

:01:15.:01:17.

# I first laughed and thought I was dreaming.

:01:18.:01:49.

# I never made a sound. # Don't forget somebody else.

:01:50.:02:32.

# I woke up one day, baby # Let's get cool and

:02:33.:02:36.

# There's no need to where you're going

:02:37.:02:39.

# Take my hand, take my heart into this moment

:02:40.:02:41.

# To where you understand and where you believe in

:02:42.:03:01.

# In my dreams we are one awake. -- all awake.

:03:02.:03:21.

They were at John Peel last year and it is good to see them again at

:03:22.:03:28.

Glastonbury 2014. That is Warpaint on the other stage. And what

:03:29.:03:33.

glorious sunshine. At the start of the show we thought we might get

:03:34.:03:38.

lightning and go to a performance that this is absolutely beautiful.

:03:39.:03:42.

We brought our anoraks with us just in case. We had caught me on from

:03:43.:03:47.

Melbourne Australia, and someone else's here from Melbourne. --

:03:48.:03:58.

Courtenay Barnett. This is a live acoustic performance from Vance Joy.

:03:59.:04:16.

# I was scared of dentists and the dark.

:04:17.:04:21.

# I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations.

:04:22.:04:33.

# All my friends are turning green. # They come unstuck.

:04:34.:04:40.

# Running onto the riptide. # Taken away to the dark side.

:04:41.:04:47.

# I want to be your left hand man. # I love you when you are singing

:04:48.:04:49.

that song. # I got a lump in my throat because

:04:50.:04:56.

you are singing the words wrong. # There is this movie that I think

:04:57.:05:00.

you will like. # This guy decides to quit his job

:05:01.:05:04.

and head to New York City. # This cowboy is running from

:05:05.:05:09.

himself. # She has been living on the highest

:05:10.:05:18.

shelf. # Oh, and they come unstuck.

:05:19.:05:26.

# Lady, running down to the riptide. # Taken away to the dark side.

:05:27.:05:32.

# I want to be your left-hand man. # I love you when you are singing

:05:33.:05:35.

that song. # And I got a lump in my throat.

:05:36.:05:41.

# Because you are going to sing the words wrong.

:05:42.:05:48.

# I just want to, just want to know. # If you are going to stay.

:05:49.:05:59.

# I just got to, I just got to know. # I can't have it, can't have it any

:06:00.:06:03.

other way. # I swear she is destined for the

:06:04.:06:08.

screen. # Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer

:06:09.:06:13.

that you have ever seen. # Lady, running down to the riptide.

:06:14.:06:27.

# Taken away to the dark side. # I want to be your left-hand man. I

:06:28.:06:34.

love you when you are singing that song.

:06:35.:06:37.

# I got a lump in my throat because you are going to sing the words

:06:38.:06:40.

wrong. # I got a lump in my throat because

:06:41.:06:45.

you are singing the words wrong. # I love you and I got a lump in my

:06:46.:06:49.

throat. # You have gone and so the words

:06:50.:07:00.

wrong. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you very much, Vance Joy. We have

:07:01.:07:08.

just checked the timings, and Courtney is on at five o'clock on

:07:09.:07:13.

John Peel. Don't slip over or anything because I am sure your

:07:14.:07:20.

limbs are insured to make music. He has been already and he was great.

:07:21.:07:24.

We have been talking about the personalities associated with this,

:07:25.:07:29.

like the station master and the free press, but the Michael Evers family

:07:30.:07:33.

remain at the heart. Yes, the man who started the whole thing. But

:07:34.:07:37.

what are his real passion is? What is he really all about?

:07:38.:07:46.

I first came here in 1984 when I brought Billy Bragg down here for

:07:47.:07:52.

his first Glastonbury appearance. Now and every year 180,000 people

:07:53.:07:56.

gathered here for a festival of fun and music. We all know about Michael

:07:57.:08:01.

Eavis the Glastonbury Festival organiser but how many of us know

:08:02.:08:06.

about the farmer? This is still a working dairy farm.

:08:07.:08:13.

Michael. How are you doing? All right. Have you been farming today?

:08:14.:08:25.

Some people would think that when you have an operation as big as the

:08:26.:08:28.

Glastonbury Festival every year and the money that generates, why bother

:08:29.:08:37.

farming? It is all about the cows! They come first? The whole thing is

:08:38.:08:40.

all about the cows, it really is, seriously. Michael Eavis's

:08:41.:08:46.

relationship with this patch of farmland stretches back to the 19th

:08:47.:08:53.

century. It has been in my family for 150 years. My great-grandfather

:08:54.:08:57.

came up from Dorset and settled in this valley. Wasn't he wise?

:08:58.:09:02.

Beautiful. When did you take it over? When I was 19, my father died

:09:03.:09:08.

of cancer unfortunately. I picked up his enthusiasm right from the start.

:09:09.:09:12.

I was really keen on saving the farm. It has been my home forever.

:09:13.:09:17.

There is no better life on this earth than being a dairy farm in the

:09:18.:09:23.

middle of Somerset. And the dairy herd is central? Cows are the most

:09:24.:09:27.

beautiful animals. I think we should go and meet them. Glastonbury may be

:09:28.:09:34.

an award-winning music festival but this year it is Michael's cows

:09:35.:09:38.

grabbing the praise. The herd has been nominated for an award? What is

:09:39.:09:46.

it? We have been short listed for the UK dairy farmer of the year. It

:09:47.:09:49.

is more important than actually winning the NME Award. Can I

:09:50.:10:00.

introduce you to Stephen? Of course. Are you in charge? What happens to

:10:01.:10:04.

the cows during the Festival? They stay inside. Their accommodation is

:10:05.:10:17.

5-star. It is called the mootel. When the music is on they are on the

:10:18.:10:22.

edges watching it but they enjoy it. I imagine they will like Dolly

:10:23.:10:28.

Parton. For the past 44 years, balancing festival and farm has

:10:29.:10:33.

become something of an obsession for Michael that this years he reckons

:10:34.:10:36.

he may have finally cracked one of its less glamorous issues. What have

:10:37.:10:43.

you brought me to see? This is the premier long drop. The best we have

:10:44.:10:51.

built in 44 years. Toilets! Yes. You can see the depth. They will take

:10:52.:10:57.

all of the excrement for at least a week. I don't normally get seen

:10:58.:11:03.

standing in a toilet like this. People might talk! What do you do

:11:04.:11:10.

with it all later? It goes into the arable land eventually, back into

:11:11.:11:16.

the soil structure. It is one of those connections between the

:11:17.:11:20.

Festival and your beloved farmland? Absolutely. It is all about

:11:21.:11:24.

fertility in the land. There have been times when the impact of the

:11:25.:11:27.

festival has pushed the farm to the brink. It is the most beautiful

:11:28.:11:36.

valley. Absolutely amazing. I can see why you have affection for it.

:11:37.:11:40.

There have been problems in the past largely arising from the weather. It

:11:41.:11:45.

can get nasty and when it is heavy rain, it costs half a million pounds

:11:46.:11:55.

more to clean it when it has been muddy. We have to get every single

:11:56.:11:57.

metal tent peg up. If they eat it, they die from it. Have you ever

:11:58.:12:05.

thought you would not do it again? On a Monday morning when it is a mud

:12:06.:12:09.

bath and the tents are wrecked, there is a fleeting moment when I

:12:10.:12:13.

wonder if it is worth it but millions of people love it so much.

:12:14.:12:16.

How can I stand in the way of that? He is a proper hero. I found out

:12:17.:12:29.

something really lovely, which I did not know about the Festival until

:12:30.:12:33.

today, which is that when the Pyramid Stage collapsed and caught

:12:34.:12:37.

fire in the 90s and they had to rebuild it quickly when you're just

:12:38.:12:41.

before the festival, Robert Plant, who is playing on it today,

:12:42.:12:45.

christened it with a bottle of milk from one of the Worthy Farm cows.

:12:46.:12:52.

How lovely. Like a ship. Speaking about christenings. You are making

:12:53.:12:58.

your first appearance at Glastonbury. How has it taken this

:12:59.:13:03.

long? Our debut. I don't know how long. We never played in the 80s.

:13:04.:13:12.

Were you not a band who liked Festival is back in your principal

:13:13.:13:17.

days? You had strong opinions about what you might do. We had opinions

:13:18.:13:23.

about everything! We still have, in lots of ways. I don't know, they

:13:24.:13:27.

weren't really around that much. Not like they are now. What do you make

:13:28.:13:43.

of it when you got on site? At first it was like Vietnam or something but

:13:44.:13:46.

now the sunshine is out I feel better. The sunshine is going to

:13:47.:13:51.

help but it will just be fun playing here because I have never been into

:13:52.:13:54.

anything as big as this before. I am excited. The rebirth of Dexys, your

:13:55.:14:06.

album has been very well received. I did read one review of it. It was

:14:07.:14:10.

not mine! Don't punch me in the face! Now you have got a film and

:14:11.:14:16.

there is an important screening and people can get a single. Yes, a

:14:17.:14:22.

brilliant film has been made by Paul Kelly and Kieron

:14:23.:14:25.

brilliant film has been made by Paul Kelly and Evans. They really pushed

:14:26.:14:30.

it. They saw some shows we did last year, filmed it, did some other

:14:31.:14:34.

stuff and they have done a really good job. We can show they clip of

:14:35.:14:42.

it. You can get a free single if you book to see the film before the

:14:43.:14:43.

seventh. This is Nowhere Is Home. am just incapable of love. # stop

:14:44.:15:32.

that. # stop that. # no, no. That is not so. It looks fantastic. The good

:15:33.:15:37.

great job. The captured the spirit of it and filmed it beautifully.

:15:38.:15:42.

Martin Kelly said he did not want this phase of Dexys to go

:15:43.:15:48.

undocumented. Enjoy your first time here. We will do our best. These are

:15:49.:15:53.

the most pristine Wellington boots I have seen all day. That is going to

:15:54.:16:01.

get waterlogged. You have made an error. Dexys, looking flash as

:16:02.:16:10.

always. Now somebody else that knows how to dress well.

:16:11.:16:17.

I am still at the hospitality area, trying to impress some VIPs. Rock

:16:18.:16:28.

stars. The Cuban Brothers. I know you're performing later in the

:16:29.:16:33.

cabaret area. I thought we could one not, impress some of these people in

:16:34.:16:41.

big sunglasses. Let's do this. A little routine. Top rocking. We are

:16:42.:16:49.

going to bounce. Yes, bones, and spend. And spend. And point. Yes.

:16:50.:17:03.

Yes, hello. And sexy walking. They rate is. OK, and come round friends.

:17:04.:17:11.

This is what I am talking about. Friends of mine, let's go. Killer

:17:12.:17:27.

Kenny. He is so sexy. So nice. This is actually happening. This is not a

:17:28.:17:40.

dream. OK. Guys, we have to go back. They will not stop. The braking will

:17:41.:17:54.

not stop. OK. The feeling is nice, the feeling is nice. Back to you

:17:55.:18:03.

guys in the studio. This is not making sense, but it kind of does.

:18:04.:18:08.

This is what happens at Glastonbury. Please help.

:18:09.:18:13.

We can all do that, but we do not want to show off. That looked like a

:18:14.:18:19.

hidden camera inside the BBC to presenters' communal dressing room.

:18:20.:18:24.

We always do that. You want to see Hugh Stevens and the flips that he

:18:25.:18:30.

pulls off. Frankly surprising for a man of his build. His caterpillar is

:18:31.:18:35.

awesome. Speaking of someone who will not be break dancing any time

:18:36.:18:39.

soon, we will be checking out some music that is happening right now.

:18:40.:18:43.

Lana del Ray is performing at the pediment stage. Here she is a few

:18:44.:18:46.

moments ago. If you get my drift. It is amazing to be with everybody

:18:47.:19:03.

today. I am so excited. You guys are having the time of your lives.

:21:52.:21:53.

we?re still young. I pretend I?m not hurt,

I go about the world like I?m havin? fun.

:22:47.:23:59.

is on the main stage right now. It is wonderful stuff, enigmatic and

:24:00.:24:03.

approach. It has also been adopted by Lauren Laverne. Very convincing

:24:04.:24:10.

as well. We can bring you more from Lana del Ray on the main stage. This

:24:11.:24:12.

is blue jeans. # Blue jeans, white shirt # Walked

:24:13.:25:19.

into the room # You know you made my eyes burn # It was like, James Dean,

:25:20.:25:23.

for sure # You're so fresh to death and sick as ca-cancer # You were

:25:24.:25:27.

sorta punk rock, I grew up on hip hop # But you fit me better than my

:25:28.:25:30.

favourite sweater, and I know # That love is mean # And love hurts # But

:25:31.:25:34.

I still remember that day we met in December # Oh, baby # I will love

:25:35.:25:39.

you till the end of time # I would wait a million years # Promise

:25:40.:25:49.

you'll remember that you're mine # Baby, can you see through the tears?

:25:50.:25:54.

# Love you more # Than those bitches before # Say you'll remember, oh

:25:55.:26:06.

baby, say you'll remember, oh baby, ooh # I will love you till the end

:26:07.:26:11.

of time # Big dreams, gangster # Said you had to leave to start your

:26:12.:26:15.

life over # I was like, "No please, stay here # "We don't need no money,

:26:16.:26:19.

we can make it all work" # But he headed out on Sunday, said he'd come

:26:20.:26:27.

on Monday # I stayed up waitin', anticipatin', and pacin' # But he

:26:28.:26:44.

was chasing paper # Caught up in the game # That was the last I heard # I

:26:45.:26:48.

will love you till the end of time # I would wait a million years

:26:49.:26:54.

before # Say you'll remember, oh baby, say you'll

:26:55.:27:07.

remember, oh baby, ooh # I will love you till the end of time # You went

:27:08.:27:14.

out every night # And baby, that's all right # I told you that no

:27:15.:27:21.

matter what you did I'd be by your side # Cos I'mma ride or die #

:27:22.:27:31.

Whether you fail or fly # Well, at least you tried # But when

:27:32.:27:37.

you walked out that door A piece of me died # I told you I wanted more

:27:38.:27:41.

but that's not what I had in mind # I just want it like before # We were

:27:42.:27:45.

dancing all night # Then they took you away Stole you out of my life #

:27:46.:27:49.

You just need to remember # I will love you till the end of time # I

:27:50.:27:53.

would wait a million years # Promise you'll remember that you're mine #

:27:54.:28:07.

Baby, can you see through the tears? # Love you more # Than those

:28:08.:28:10.

before # Say you'll remember, oh baby, say you'll remember, oh baby,

:28:11.:28:14.

ooh # I will love you till the end of time. #
