I don't know anything about Metallica. When I think about

:00:15.:00:22.

Metallica loud. Power. Guy liner. A live force. Genius. Controversy.

:00:23.:00:28.

I am humbled. Well, hello there. Welcome back to

:00:29.:00:49.

Glastonbury 2014. I only left you here a few hours ago and it was

:00:50.:00:54.

looking positively like William Blake's Green and Pleasant Land. But

:00:55.:00:58.

look at it now. We have had more Queen weather in the interim. It's

:00:59.:01:02.

looking brown and wet out there. But luckily the skies have cleared.

:01:03.:01:06.

However, I have to say thunder is coming. It is of the musical

:01:07.:01:13.

variety, though. Metallica, of course are taking to that Pyramid

:01:14.:01:25.

Stage shortly. Also we have -- Goldfrapp coming up. And Jo Whiley

:01:26.:01:31.

is up on that hill, I think it's that one. She's waiting for

:01:32.:01:35.

Metallica to come on stage, hi, Jo. Yeah, I am here on the hill waiting

:01:36.:01:40.

for Metallica. There will be thunder and lightning, power and loudness

:01:41.:01:43.

and probably will be guy-liner. That's all to come. First of all, we

:01:44.:01:48.

are going to go to a man who was revving up the audience for

:01:49.:01:51.

Metallica earlier. He was mean and moody, he was the one and only

:01:52.:01:53.

magnificent Jack White. # And every single bone in my brain

is electric # But I dig ditches

debut album. We will catch up with our Mark now. He is with Goldfrapp.

:06:15.:06:23.

You join us here where we are having a sophisticated soiree of enigmatic

:06:24.:06:28.

disco hits in the company of Goldfrapp.

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Nice. Thank you so much to Jess and

:19:50.:19:52.

friends playing live this evening. As they say, the lass can chant,

:19:53.:19:56.

beautiful stuff. Another lass with us tonight has been with us all day,

:19:57.:20:01.

out and about literally our girl in the field making friends and getting

:20:02.:20:08.

up to mischief, let's catch up with Gemma

:20:09.:20:13.

I am in a - the only true rock bar here at Glastonbury this year. It's

:20:14.:20:22.

hidden in a secret location. Oh my goodness!

:20:23.:20:27.

I felt liberated enough on Metallica night to get a special bespoke

:20:28.:20:37.

tattoo. My mate here is a special tattoo artist is giving me one. You

:20:38.:20:41.

would never guess it's light outside, I don't know what's going

:20:42.:20:46.

on, but I feel liberated. Rock on brothers and sisters!

:20:47.:20:55.

Oh my goodness. She's changed. Poor Gemma, although that tattoo is going

:20:56.:21:00.

to look amazing when she's back on radio in the week. It's all to the

:21:01.:21:05.

good. OK, so Metallica are on their way. We are going to bring you that

:21:06.:21:09.

set as soon as we can, as soon as it happens. While we are waiting why

:28:45.:28:53.

# I don't want to but I have to try # Oh, baby

:28:54.:29:08.

# Oh, baby, please A brilliant songwriter, that was

:29:09.:29:31.

John Grant here at Glastonbury, a Festival that's traditionally been

:29:32.:29:34.

about this, but this year it's very much about this. It definitely is

:29:35.:29:40.

tonight. I spoke to Lars from Metallica yesterday, he says they've

:29:41.:29:43.

been waiting years to play this gig. Here is their story at Glastonbury.

:29:44.:30:00.

Four mere mortals rede-15ed rock and together they changed the world.

:30:01.:30:14.

One word - Metallica. Tonight these titans of rock are the

:30:15.:30:17.

first metal band to headline Glastonbury. Glastonbury is the

:30:18.:30:22.

greatest Festival on this planet and it's been on a bucket list of mine

:30:23.:30:26.

for years, so the fact that we are the first sort of harder rock band

:30:27.:30:31.

to come in and give it a go is very cool. We are very honoured. It was

:30:32.:30:40.

33 years ago that James Hetfield answered Lars add in a paper looking

:30:41.:30:45.

for someone to jam with. They played harder and faster and louder than

:30:46.:30:53.

any band before. Stripping away the cliches, they

:30:54.:31:00.

were unique. They were Metallica. Then from the depths of the

:31:01.:31:04.

underworld an album of great darkness arose, a jet-black master

:31:05.:31:09.

piece seeking with gloom, it catapulted Metallica to stardom.

:31:10.:31:22.

Metallica rotated on MTV and these four horsemen stole the souls of a

:31:23.:31:32.

new mass audience of metal fans. In the mid-90s they reinvented

:31:33.:31:36.

themselves with snappy new haircuts and darkness made visible.

:31:37.:31:43.

But at the dawn of a new millennium they met with turbulent times. The

:31:44.:31:51.

lead singer was admitted to rehab and Jason Newstead left the band.

:31:52.:32:02.

With new bass machine Robert, they saw a return to form. They've

:32:03.:32:05.

celebrated their 30th anniversary, made a record with the late Lou Reed

:32:06.:32:11.

and are now ready to rock the Pyramid Stage. It's clear 33 years

:32:12.:32:16.

into a ride that you can still get a chance to play so people who may not

:32:17.:32:21.

be familiar with what you are doing. It keeps us, I guess young. These

:32:22.:32:27.

uncompromising monsters of rock promise a riff-laden heart-pounding

:32:28.:32:34.

shattering set. Say your prayers, here come Metallica.

:32:35.:32:43.

And here they are. Be ready to be rocked by Metallica. The biggest

:32:44.:32:48.

rock act in the world, here they are.

:32:49.:33:36.

# Hebrews born to serve to the pharaoh

# So let it be written So let it be done

:36:59.:37:06.

Are you having fun, Glastonbury? Let's keep it going! This is For

:37:07.:38:45.

Whom The Bell Tolls! # Make his fight on the hill

:38:46.:40:27.

in the early day # Shouting gun, on they run

:40:28.:40:30.

through the endless gray # On they fight, for they are right

:40:31.:40:37.

Yes, but who's to say? # For a hill, men would kill

:40:38.:40:41.

Why? They do not know # Men of five, still alive

:40:42.:40:44.

through the raging glow # Gone insane from the pain

:40:45.:40:50.

that they surely know # Take a look to the sky

:40:51.:40:56.

just before you die # Blackened roar, massive roar

:40:57.:41:31.

Fills the crumbling sky # Shattered goal fills his soul

:41:32.:41:38.

with a ruthless cry # Stranger now are his eyes

:41:39.:41:42.

to this mystery # Crack of dawn, all is gone

:41:43.:41:45.

except the will to be # Now they see what will be

:41:46.:41:52.

Blinded eyes to see Hello, Glasto! Metallica is grateful

:41:53.:49:17.

to be invited to such an event called Glastonbury. We are very

:49:18.:49:24.

proud to be here. And to be representing, shall we say, the

:49:25.:49:30.

heavier side of music, all right? I know it's all represented here, so

:49:31.:49:35.

why not heavy rock and heavy metal? Hey? It's about time! So, me and the

:49:36.:49:40.

boys would love to dedicate this next song to everyone who has been

:49:41.:49:44.

waiting for something like this, but also all of the British heavy metal

:49:45.:49:50.

bands that have been dreaming and still do dream of playing on this

:49:51.:49:58.

estate right here. And uttering the words, do you want heavy? Do you

:49:59.:50:05.

want heavy? Metallica gives you heavy, baby!

:50:06.:50:57.

# No-one but me can save myself but it's too late

:50:58.:59:52.

# Now I can't think Think why I should even try

:59:53.:00:11.

# Yesterday seems as though it never existed

:00:12.:00:18.

# Death greets me warm Now I will just say goodbye. #

:00:19.:00:32.

# So, goodbye... # Say goodbye!

:00:33.:00:51.

All right! Is it happening? I feel all right! I hope you do. We can get

:00:52.:03:07.

even a bit closer and get to know each other. Raise your hand if you

:03:08.:03:14.

want this Earth to be a better place, hey? That's right! Part to

:03:15.:03:21.

that, raise your hand if you think you are doing your part with

:03:22.:03:25.

integrity and honesty to your own morals. -- part two. That's right.

:03:26.:03:35.

And number three... Who would want to be accepted and loved by all your

:03:36.:03:39.

brothers and sisters here on this Earth, exactly how you are right

:03:40.:03:48.

now? That's right! And the fourth question is, raise your hand and

:03:49.:03:52.

your voices if music moves your soul! That's right! This one's from

:03:53.:04:00.

Death Magnetic. It's called Cyanide! # NT, they say

:04:01.:05:17.

# Death, won't you let me stay? # Death, won't you call your name?

:05:18.:05:26.

now! Have you got your singing voices on? And they turned up?

:17:11.:17:11.

Better get louder! # Just listen they play my song

:17:12.:18:42.

# Ash to ash # Dust to dust

:18:43.:18:46.

# Fade to back # Fortune, fame, mirror vain

:18:47.:18:52.

# Gone insane # Fortune, fame, mirror vain

:18:53.:18:57.

# Gone ensign # Dance little tin goddess

:18:58.:19:05.

Sing it Glastonbury! Ash to ash

:19:06.:19:33.

# Dust to dust # Fade to black

:19:34.:19:50.

# Fortune, fame, mirror vain # Gone insane

:19:51.:19:54.

# Ash to ash # Dust to dust

:19:55.:19:57.

# Fade to black # But the memory remains

:19:58.:20:03.

Like a faded prima # Can't tell if

:20:04.:22:30.

this is true or dream # Now that the war

:22:31.:24:28.

is through with me # Back in the womb

:24:29.:24:38.

it's much too real # Fed through the tube

:24:39.:25:12.

that sticks in me # Now the world is gone

:25:13.:25:25.

I'm just one God, no! No, no, no! Oh, please, God

:25:26.:26:13.

help me! # Master of puppets

:26:14.:29:29.

I'm pulling your strings # Twisting your mind

:29:30.:31:40.

and smashing your dreams # Blinded by me

:31:41.:31:43.

You can't see a thing # Just call my name

:31:44.:31:46.

cos I'll hear you scream # Just call my name

:31:47.:31:49.

Cos I'll hear you scream # Needlework the way

:31:50.:31:52.

Never you betray # Master of puppets

:31:53.:32:13.

I'm pulling your strings # Twisting your mind

:32:14.:32:50.

and smashing your dreams # Blinded by me

:32:51.:32:54.

You can't see a thing # Just call my name

:32:55.:32:56.

Cos I'll hear you scream # Just call my name

:32:57.:32:59.

Cos I'll hear you scream # Where's the dreams

:33:00.:33:03.

that I've been after? # Hell is worth all that

:33:04.:35:05.

Natural habitat # Never-ending maze

:35:06.:36:24.

Drift on numbered days # Master of puppets

:36:25.:36:29.

I'm pulling your strings # Twisting your mind

:36:30.:37:04.

and smashing your dreams # Blinded by me

:37:05.:37:08.

You can't see a thing # Just call my name

:37:09.:37:09.

Cos I'll hear you scream # Just call my name

:37:10.:37:12.

Cos I'll hear you scream # Couldn't be much more

:37:13.:37:16.

from the heart # It couldn't be

:37:17.:40:00.

much more from the heart Are you still will there? -- out

:40:01.:41:15.

there? # And never mind

:41:16.:45:34.

that noise you heard # It's just the beasts

:45:35.:47:48.

under your bed Oh, yeah! Oh, yeah! Oh, yeah? Ooh!

:47:49.:49:03.

Yeah, yeah! Whoa! # Ha-ha!

:49:04.:49:12.

# Take my hand # We are off to never never land.

:49:13.:49:34.

Glastonbury, together at last! Off to never never land! Thank you,

:49:35.:50:22.

Glasto! That felt good! Thank you,

:50:23.:50:28.

Glastonbury! CROWD: We want more! We want more!

:50:29.:51:00.

We want more! I guess they need more! Are you

:51:01.:52:30.

sure? Do you really like this stuff? Oh, I'm not alone! All right, this

:52:31.:52:33.

song is going to be good. # Yeah, and I brought it home

:52:34.:52:53.

to Molly # Yeah, for you know

:52:54.:53:48.

she tricked me easy # And I shot 'em

:53:49.:54:02.

with both barrels, yeah # Mush-a-ring

:54:03.:54:56.

dum a do dum a da, yeah, yeah # And I shot 'em

:54:57.:55:00.

with both barrels, yeah # Mush-a-ring

:55:01.:56:05.

dum a do dum a da, yeah, yeah # Here I am

:56:06.:56:07.

with a ball and chain, yeah # Mush-a-ring

:56:08.:56:48.

dum a do dum a da, hey he-ah Yeah, yeah, yeah! Sadly, we've come

:56:49.:57:57.

to the last song. CROWD: Boo! I know! But we are

:57:58.:58:07.

grateful to have been part of this awesome event and bring some

:58:08.:58:10.

heaviness to this festival, and we hope you've enjoyed it, too. So this

:58:11.:58:15.

last song, if you're a fan of Metallica or not a fan, this is a

:58:16.:58:20.

song you can get behind. It's got three simple words but before we get

:58:21.:58:25.

into that, we need to turn on some house lights. We want to see this

:58:26.:58:29.

awesome event, we want to see the Glastonbury family. Can we turn on

:58:30.:58:35.

the lights? Oh, yeah! Whoa! Look at you all! All right, this one's from

:58:36.:58:47.

our first album and it's called Seek And Destroy. We want to see some

:58:48.:58:53.

action out there, Glastonbury! # We're scanning the scene

:58:54.:59:42.

in the city tonight # We're looking for you to start up

:59:43.:59:44.

a fight # There's an evil feeling

:59:45.:59:46.

in our brains # But it's nothing new

:59:47.:59:48.

You know it drives us insane # There is no escape

:59:49.:59:52.

and that's for sure # This is the end

:59:53.:00:46.

We won't take any more # Say goodbye

:00:47.:00:52.

to the world you live in # You have always been taking

:00:53.:00:54.

but now you're giving # Our brains are on fire

:00:55.:00:56.

with the feeling to kill # And it won't go away

:00:57.:03:28.

until our dreams are fulfilled # There is only one thing

:03:29.:03:33.

on our minds # Don't try running away

:03:34.:03:35.

cos you're the one we will find Metallica loves you Glastonbury!

:03:36.:03:38.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE hey, hey, hey. You made us feel so

:03:39.:06:27.

good, Glastonbury, thank you. Thank you for having us. Glastonbury, you

:06:28.:06:35.

guys were fucking great. Thank you so much! All right, Glastonbury,

:06:36.:06:51.

there we go, Ha-ha! I came down here about 24-hours ago. Since then I've

:06:52.:06:56.

walked every fucking of this beautiful place. There is no place

:06:57.:07:04.

on this fucking earth like this beautiful Glastonbury festival.

:07:05.:07:06.

Thank you so much for letting us be part of your experience. Thank you

:07:07.:07:11.

Michael, thank you Emily, thank you Mick. Metallica fucking loves you.

:07:12.:07:17.

We hope to see you one more fucking time!

:07:18.:07:39.

Wow. Metallica, live at Glastonbury 2014, thanking Michael, Emily and

:07:40.:08:12.

Emily's husband Nick for booking them at the festival them have been

:08:13.:08:18.

card a wildcard headliner. I spoke to Lars on site yesterday. He knows

:08:19.:08:21.

exactly what this festival is all about. He is telling the truth.

:08:22.:08:24.

There we have seen him out and about here. He has been out and about.

:08:25.:08:29.

This is not a band that need to play Gerhard Schroeder gas. They have

:08:30.:08:33.

sold hundreds of millions of records - Probably the last thing to do.

:08:34.:08:40.

They played every continent of the world, including Antarctica. The

:08:41.:08:44.

this has been eluding them for 30 years. You can see how much they

:08:45.:08:51.

enjoyed playing that show. They were relishing that moment. Took them a

:08:52.:08:56.

while to get off. Metallica loves Glastonbury. There are very few

:08:57.:09:01.

experiences that can't be made better if you add a giant beach

:09:02.:09:07.

ball. It doesn't hurt. The colourful one was not as Metallica as the

:09:08.:09:12.

black ones? Yeah. What did you do to get a ticket to be on the back of

:09:13.:09:18.

the stage. That was a cool move. Full metal dudes on stage, we have

:09:19.:09:25.

come for your festival, here is the metal hoard. Following it on Twitter

:09:26.:09:31.

the reaction to it. I mean, metal fans, Metallica fans loving that

:09:32.:09:34.

performance. Some people confused by it. Lars himself was saying

:09:35.:09:39.

yesterday, Metallica are a band who bring out strong opinions in people.

:09:40.:09:42.

That is what you want in your Glastonbury headliners. There has to

:09:43.:09:45.

be something a moment people will talk about. What I enjoyed, that I

:09:46.:09:50.

hadn't heard for a long time is twin lead guitars like the Thin Lissie

:09:51.:09:57.

styles. They did Whiskey in the Jar. Yeah. It went down a storm. Massive

:09:58.:10:03.

crowd. Great to see the crowd lit up at the end. Massive crowds for all

:10:04.:10:06.

of our headline acts here. We will bring you all sorts of great music

:10:07.:10:09.

from around and about the festival site. You can see behind us, over

:10:10.:10:18.

there, Mogwai. They promised they would pull funny faces and turn it

:10:19.:10:21.

up extra loud. We will bring you some of their set. We have the Manic

:10:22.:10:29.

Street Preachers, who were our guests earlier on today. Robert

:10:30.:10:33.

Plant who I braved weather to see earlier on. When we started. With

:10:34.:10:42.

his new band, I keep calling them Shape Shifters they have Space

:10:43.:10:45.

Shifters. When they started it was like a bomb going off.

:10:46.:10:49.

Extraordinary. We will cross to the John Peel Tent. MGMT were heading

:10:50.:11:01.

over there just a few moments ago. -- headlining over there just a few

:11:02.:11:02.

moments ago. # I'm feelin' rough I'm feelin' raw

:11:03.:11:14.

I'm in the prime of my life # Let's make some music, make some

:11:15.:11:21.

money, find some models for wives # I'll move to Paris, shoot some

:11:22.:11:31.

heroin, and cook with the stars # You man the island and the cocaine

:11:32.:11:40.

and the elegant cars # This is our decision

:11:41.:11:50.

to live fast and die young # Yeah it's overwhelming

:11:51.:11:54.

but what else can we do? # Get jobs in offices and wake up

:11:55.:12:12.

for the morning commute? # Forget about our mothers

:12:13.:12:28.

and our friends # I'll miss the playgrounds

:12:29.:12:35.

and the animals and digging up worms # I'll miss the comfort of my mother

:12:36.:13:06.

and the weight of the world # I'll miss my sister, miss my

:13:07.:13:15.

father, miss my dog and my home # Yeah I'll miss the boredom and

:13:16.:13:24.

the freedom and the time spent alone # But there is really nothing

:13:25.:13:34.

nothing we can do # The models will have children

:13:35.:13:38.

we'll get a divorce # We'll find some more models

:13:39.:13:57.

everything must run its course # We'll choke on our vomit

:13:58.:14:12.

and that will be the end # To shock you

:14:13.:14:19.

like you won't believe # With the voltage

:14:20.:16:02.

running through her skin # You turn me on

:16:03.:16:09.

with your electric feel # You turn me on

:16:10.:16:34.

with your electric feel amazing. I had a great time. I was

:16:35.:20:24.

introducing Bryan Ferry on the west holt stage. I had a tuxedo on. Here

:20:25.:20:29.

is a nasty low trick from the television people. Tuxedo and a

:20:30.:20:33.

white shirt and bow tie on. I thought when Bryan came on he might

:20:34.:20:38.

want to see someone made an effort. He has never been before. I can't

:20:39.:20:42.

believe it was his debut Glastonbury. You should have seen

:20:43.:20:54.

his jacket. They panned out and I had my wellies on. They don't do

:20:55.:20:59.

that on the news. Exactly. We saw the site the lit up and watched

:21:00.:21:04.

Metallica. It was a wonderful trip. The perimeter is nine miles. The

:21:05.:21:11.

it's massive. Incredible. We are here with 175,000 reasonably

:21:12.:21:15.

like-minded individuals. It is a vast sea of people and canvas out

:21:16.:21:19.

there. We do our best to bring you as much as we can. Also, some very

:21:20.:21:23.

special moments. We have one for you now. Talking about the fact it was

:21:24.:21:27.

unbelievable Bryan Ferry's debut at Glastonbury. We have a musician

:21:28.:21:33.

making his debut at Glastonbury Festival this year. He's called

:21:34.:21:39.

Bernhoft. Who is doing five shows. He did a couple. A few more to come.

:21:40.:21:43.

This track is called Wind You Up. Enjoy.

:21:44.:21:58.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:21:59.:22:07.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:22:08.:22:17.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:22:18.:22:26.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:22:27.:22:35.

# I know the situation looks pretty dry

:22:36.:22:40.

# Your social life has been consumed in a fire

:22:41.:22:46.

# No, don't go, it's not that life you desire

:22:47.:22:49.

# Every day you just wanna sit down and cry

:22:50.:22:57.

# Brings you lower when you need to go high

:22:58.:23:02.

# Just lean back, you don't even need to decide

:23:03.:23:06.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:23:07.:23:34.

# I don't know who you been listening to

:23:35.:23:36.

# But you can't get out of this by yourself

:23:37.:23:43.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:23:44.:23:59.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:24:00.:24:05.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:24:06.:24:18.

# Wind you up, I'll be appearing on the place

:24:19.:24:27.

# You want me, you need me to wind you up

:24:28.:24:43.

# Cos a storm is brewing, winter's coming.

:24:44.:24:52.

# When you're asleep (Wind you up)

:24:53.:25:06.

# I'll just be looking (I'll be appearing on the place)

:25:07.:25:09.

# You spring for (Wind you up)

:25:33.:26:01.

third album Islander is out on Monday as well. If you enjoyed that.

:26:02.:26:06.

Fill your boots. Brilliant stuff. A joyful day. We had one rain storm

:26:07.:26:10.

this afternoon. I saw a sad thing this afternoon. With a was that? A

:26:11.:26:16.

man dressed as a Tin Man. Always sad. With a man dressed as The Lion.

:26:17.:26:23.

They got split up from the man dressed as the Scare grow. Oh, no!

:26:24.:26:33.

Do we think the Strawman was OK or a wicker thing happened? No. All sorts

:26:34.:26:39.

of fancy dress. More costumes than ever before this year. It bled into

:26:40.:26:43.

the way people dressed for festivals. I wear crazy colours. It

:26:44.:26:49.

was black back in the day. We have the Pixies now. The Other Stage had

:26:50.:26:54.

a big crowd, the Manics were on, followed by the Pixies. Let's look

:26:55.:26:56.

at the Pixies in action. # Outside there's a box car waiting

:26:57.:27:17.

Outside the family stew # Outside we wait till

:27:18.:27:20.

Face turns blue # Out by the box car waiting

:27:21.:27:25.

Take me away to nowhere plains # There is a wait so long

:27:26.:27:39.

So long, so long # Big shake to the land

:27:40.:27:42.

that's falling down # Here comes your man

:27:43.:28:13.

Here comes your man # There is a wait so long

:28:14.:28:54.

So long, so long # Here comes your man

:28:55.:29:11.

Here comes your man. # # Girlie so groovy

:29:12.:29:54.

I want you to know # Don't know about you

:29:55.:30:28.

But I am un... # I am un

:30:29.:30:31.

Chien Andalusia # Wanna grow

:30:32.:30:46.

Up to be # Debaser

:30:47.:30:47.

Debaser # Girlie so groovie

:30:48.:31:08.

Ha ha ha ho # Don't know about you

:31:09.:31:19.

but I am un... # I am un

:31:20.:31:22.

Chien Andalusia # Debaser

:31:23.:31:36.

Debaser # With your feet on the air

:31:37.:32:41.

And your head on the ground # If there's nothing in it

:32:42.:33:26.

And you'll ask yourself # Where is my mind?

:33:27.:33:41.

# Way out in the water See it swimming

:33:42.:33:57.

# Animals were hiding Behind the rocks

:33:58.:34:10.

# Except the little fish But they told me, he swears

:34:11.:34:25.

# Tryin' to talk to me Coy koi

:34:26.:34:27.

# Where is my mind? Where is my mind?

:34:28.:34:30.

# Way out in the water See it swimming

:34:31.:35:01.

# With your feet on the air And your head on the ground

:35:02.:35:09.

# Where is my mind? Where is my mind?

:35:10.:35:41.

# Way out in the water See it swimming

:35:42.:35:49.

# With your feet on the air And your head on the ground

:35:50.:36:03.

# Way out in the water See it swimming

:36:04.:36:20.

# Where is my mind? Where is my mind?

:36:21.:37:09.

the Pixies at the Other Stage. New crowd. New bass player. Happy

:37:10.:37:18.

birthday. It has just gone 12! Thanks. First person to wish me

:37:19.:37:24.

happy birthday. Thank you very much. The Pixies people are again which

:37:25.:37:28.

winly pleased to have them back. Making new music for the first time

:37:29.:37:33.

in years and years. They have been on brilliant form recently.

:37:34.:37:39.

Demonstration there, flares. A new Arcade Fire thing. Were nervous

:37:40.:37:44.

about the flares. When I interviewed them they said - what is the thing

:37:45.:37:49.

about flares. They said, is it health and safety. I'm not sure if

:37:50.:37:52.

health and safety said it was OK. There seems to be more flares and

:37:53.:37:57.

less flags. Tipping point. That is where we are. You said it. There is

:37:58.:38:06.

nothing worse than a limp flag held aloft. People thought it would rain.

:38:07.:38:11.

Metallica have not long finished on the Pyramid Stage. They seemed to

:38:12.:38:14.

enjoy it. Seemed to genuinely move them. Let us find out how it was for

:38:15.:38:21.

them. We have hooked up with Lars. These are the interviews I love

:38:22.:38:25.

doing. The post-show, post-mortem, I guess. Lars from Metallica. This is

:38:26.:38:34.

the post-mortem. Dig them up, carry them up the stairs. Couldn't we have

:38:35.:38:38.

met half way down. We could have carried you up. How was it for you?

:38:39.:38:43.

That was um... That was... That was sensational. I don't remember much

:38:44.:38:47.

of it. I remember walking up on stage. I walked up your stairs. The

:38:48.:38:52.

rest of it was a bit of a blur. It was great. The energy was fantastic.

:38:53.:38:58.

All I saw when I looked that the way was flags. When I looked that way

:38:59.:39:04.

was flags. Just... There was lots of... Real positive vibes and good

:39:05.:39:09.

positive energy. Everybody had like big smiles on their faces. We sort

:39:10.:39:16.

of held it together and played. Actually, fairly decently. All round

:39:17.:39:22.

it was good. Thank you for asking A huge us. Congratulations. I feel

:39:23.:39:28.

eleaved and emotionally drained. There has been such a build-up - Try

:39:29.:39:34.

being me. There was a lot of controversy, how do you feel. We

:39:35.:39:38.

were like, we are a rock-and-roll band playing your festival. Said it

:39:39.:39:43.

was humbling to do. It you were here yesterday morning. Yeah. We saw you

:39:44.:39:48.

everywhere? I have been here for 30 hours. The why did you do that? I

:39:49.:39:51.

figured if you were going to do this. Everybody talks about how this

:39:52.:39:55.

is... I mean this is something that penetrates at a whole other level

:39:56.:40:00.

than at any other festivals anywhere. This is part of your guys

:40:01.:40:04.

culture and history and everybody who is watching. I figure, you never

:40:05.:40:10.

know if you will get invited back. I figured, we have one shot. I want to

:40:11.:40:16.

come in. I'm going to soak up every second that I can of this thing. We

:40:17.:40:24.

came in. Yeah, about 30-hours ago. Last night we saw Arcade Fire. We

:40:25.:40:32.

saw bands. We walked every where. A crew of five or six. Nick, Emily's

:40:33.:40:39.

husband. He was our host. And took us everywhere. We saw every little

:40:40.:40:47.

area. And every little village and tent. It was an amazing experience.

:40:48.:40:53.

By the time we were done at that at 4.00am we knew what the vibe was.

:40:54.:40:58.

Slept for a couple of hours. Came right back down and felt like that

:40:59.:41:01.

we were ready to thabg this on again. And did. You proved to all

:41:02.:41:06.

the critics wrong. You smashed it. History has been made. The first

:41:07.:41:11.

metal band to headline Glastonbury. You mentioned on stage that maybe

:41:12.:41:14.

you will come back to Glastonbury in the future? We would love to. I'm

:41:15.:41:19.

coming back tomorrow. Oh, right! I'm here the whole weekend.

:41:20.:41:23.

coming back tomorrow. Oh, right! I'm forward to Dolly tomorrow, to the

:41:24.:41:29.

Black Keys, The Horrors. Can sakian. I will be the one sweeping up. I

:41:30.:41:33.

will be the one walking around with the garbage bag on Tuesday clearing

:41:34.:41:38.

up. You are a Glastonbury addict. Completely. I'm glad we sold it to

:41:39.:41:43.

you? I met it Michael yesterday. The whole thing has been amazing. Emily.

:41:44.:41:47.

The whole family. The Met met experience, how would you sum it up

:41:48.:41:56.

in a sentence? Other worldly. That is a big word for this time of

:41:57.:42:00.

night. It will take a little while to settle in. Obviously, when you

:42:01.:42:04.

find yourself talking about this whole thing - I have done nine

:42:05.:42:08.

Glastonbury interviews every day the last month. I have run out of things

:42:09.:42:12.

to say about it. You know what I mean. Now we are finally here we

:42:13.:42:17.

played it so much fun. Congratulations. Thank you for

:42:18.:42:20.

coming to see us straight off stage. Really good. Enjoy tomorrow? We will

:42:21.:42:25.

go out and play one more. Forgive me. One more encore waiting. The

:42:26.:42:31.

rabbit hole is in that direction. Have that experience? We ended up

:42:32.:42:35.

there last night. I'm sure that is where we will end up tonight. There

:42:36.:42:39.

is something about a secret under ground You go chamber. There. See if

:42:40.:42:45.

that can be the last bastion tonight. Thank you. Back to you now.

:42:46.:42:50.

He is, I interviewed Lars yesterday. He has done so many Glastonbury

:42:51.:42:54.

interviews every day. He is absolutely right. He completely gets

:42:55.:42:57.

what this festival is all about. He is such a smart guy. As you can see,

:42:58.:43:02.

brilliant company. Immersed himself in it. That was heart warming. That

:43:03.:43:07.

was sincere, wasn't it? That wasn't a charm offensive. He had an

:43:08.:43:13.

experience. He said other worldly. The good word. Hi struck me as a

:43:14.:43:19.

total music nerd. He was talking about the first time that they came

:43:20.:43:23.

over and wanted to play Glastonbury in 1981. They did their first London

:43:24.:43:27.

shows. He knew the address of the club where they first played London.

:43:28.:43:35.

He grew up on People Purple. He said all roads metal wise lead to the UK.

:43:36.:43:39.

This was the one thing left for them to do. He looked like Bill Bailey in

:43:40.:43:47.

close-up. Was he wearing a dressing gown or a monk's... I don't know.

:43:48.:43:58.

More lights than I have ever seen on the Park Stage than ever before

:43:59.:44:00.

tonight for Mogwai. Mogwai, for my money one of the best

:44:01.:48:04.

bands to see live in the world. The only time I've ever missed the

:48:05.:48:08.

chance to see them, when I've had it, when I nodded off on top of

:48:09.:48:17.

their bass amp in Spain. How is that possible? It was noisy. I was tired.

:48:18.:48:23.

It was a late one. It wasn't my job to be sow we are -- sober and report

:48:24.:48:36.

on them. A A double dose, any time. One of the features of night, or

:48:37.:48:41.

day, there is a massive spider in the area called Arcadia. You can't

:48:42.:48:46.

miss it. You can see the flames gusting out of the top. There is a

:48:47.:48:54.

DJ in there. Everything. Quite a feature. A little showy for my

:48:55.:49:00.

taste, to be honest. It's the most frustrating spider to shoot. Every

:49:01.:49:04.

year we go, there is a massive spider with flames coming out. We

:49:05.:49:10.

cut away to a shot of it. . It stops. The guy inside knows we are

:49:11.:49:14.

on. I know he is trying to mess with us. He was breathing this year. We

:49:15.:49:20.

saw it in its full spouting glory. I know what you are thinking - how is

:49:21.:49:22.

it put together. Let's find out. Arcadia is an idea of taking things

:49:23.:49:39.

no-one else wants any more and making them into a massive giant

:49:40.:49:46.

playground. The components of Arcadia are sculpture, recycling,

:49:47.:49:51.

music, special effects, circus performance. Our job is to marry up

:49:52.:49:54.

all those elements and bring them together and make interesting things

:49:55.:49:59.

happen. Glastonbury is the first show of the year for us usually. The

:50:00.:50:04.

spider has been in hibernation for the winter. Getting it out and

:50:05.:50:09.

dusting it off. Giving it its summer coat or doing any repairs that are

:50:10.:50:14.

necessary. We tend to use a lot of aviation equipment. We like jet

:50:15.:50:18.

engines, they are nice and look like they have come from outer space.

:50:19.:50:23.

This is the floor of the DJ Boot in the centre of the spider. This the

:50:24.:50:33.

one of the spider's eye sockets. We have an idea and find the bits, the

:50:34.:50:37.

bits inspire the idea. The two bits get knocked around. Within two

:50:38.:50:41.

minutes of walking into a scrapyard we change direction of what we are

:50:42.:50:46.

going to build and we find another piece that take it is in another

:50:47.:50:50.

direction. These are the top muscles of the spider. This big leg you see

:50:51.:50:54.

here is one of the three legs of the spider. It weighs about 10 tonnes.

:50:55.:51:05.

It's 's a monster and part of a customs and excise scanning machine.

:51:06.:51:13.

The convoy rolls in. The first thing that comes in, the very first thing,

:51:14.:51:20.

is 100 tonne crane which we put in to position. We have already dug

:51:21.:51:24.

trenches and three pads for the spider feet. We reverse the trailers

:51:25.:51:29.

in one at a time, take the legs off. They get laid down with a central

:51:30.:51:33.

hub, using chains, the whole structure is lifted up. When all the

:51:34.:51:43.

dressing goes on and the eyes go on. The characteristics of the spider

:51:44.:51:48.

really to come on then. There is definitely danger involved with it

:51:49.:51:57.

working in the way that we do. It's what make is it exciting. We do

:51:58.:52:05.

dangerous things safely -- makes. They pioneered the neck tolling to

:52:06.:52:09.

get the size of the flames we do on top of the spider. They want big

:52:10.:52:14.

flames and many flames in short time. They are the biggest flames,

:52:15.:52:19.

25 meters. If you had a long enough stick in the crowd, you could

:52:20.:52:23.

probably toast yourself a crumpet and stick a bit of butter on it. Wen

:52:24.:52:29.

we let it off for the first time people stand back and are like,

:52:30.:52:38.

"ahhh!" It goes from something that you just build. It's just a big load

:52:39.:52:44.

of scrap. It then comes alive. It's amazing. It when it switches on,

:52:45.:52:54.

it's magic. It's a privilege to be part of it.

:52:55.:53:00.

It really is fantastic that spider, isn't it? Amazing. Plenty of flames

:53:01.:53:07.

tonight. The guy who created the flames he was really cool. Henry

:53:08.:53:17.

Hot. And Pit brush. How brilliant. Listening to the soundtrack of that

:53:18.:53:28.

film it makes me want Kasabian to ride it. There aren't things as big

:53:29.:53:34.

as that. Things people have built. They don't need to do any of that.

:53:35.:53:38.

They have great bands. It is the set dressing of the whole site that

:53:39.:53:44.

stays with you. Absolutely. That is another Glastonbury icon, the

:53:45.:53:48.

spider, we had it a few years. It has become part of the farm here.

:53:49.:53:52.

The next band is a duo. They have stripped it right back. They were on

:53:53.:54:01.

with The Temples. How are they making that noise with two of them.

:54:02.:54:08.

Drums and bass. They were on the peel stage earlier on. Royal Blood.

:54:09.:54:29.

# Hey little monster, I got my eye on you

:54:30.:54:32.

# Where are you going, where you running to?

:54:33.:54:43.

# Hey little monster, you know it's all OK

:54:44.:54:52.

# I'm gonna love ya, no matter what you say

:54:53.:55:04.

# I'm your wolf I'm your man

:55:05.:55:18.

# Hey little creature, tell me what's on your mind,

:55:19.:55:31.

# Where've you been hiding? And can I come this time?

:55:32.:55:44.

# So pleased to please ya, and rip that heart off your sleeve,

:55:45.:55:53.

# I'm your wolf I'm your man

:55:54.:56:12.

# I'm your wolf I'm your man

:56:13.:57:13.

Those guys, it has a little bit of edge to it. There is aggression back

:57:14.:58:09.

in the music. It's nice - obviously the diversity is brilliant. That is

:58:10.:58:13.

what makes it Glastonbury. I'm liking there is something rawer in

:58:14.:58:17.

there. It's the heaviest bill for years, isn't it really? Yeah. I love

:58:18.:58:23.

those guys. How is he doing that? I don't know. It's weird. It is what

:58:24.:58:28.

they had. It's two of them. Maybe they had no friends. It happens to

:58:29.:58:32.

have worked out brilliantly. I just love the sound they make those two

:58:33.:58:37.

guys. Fantastic. Royal Blood on the John Peel Stage with Little Monster.

:58:38.:58:42.

We will have a chunk of Robert Plant in the not too distant future.

:58:43.:59:40.

# I stand on the edge of sadness # That I can't face

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE I didn't have my glasses on for that. They had

:02:44.:02:51.

some three barrel electric fires hanging up above them. Did they

:02:52.:02:56.

really? I can't see a thing without them on. I have to put them back on.

:02:57.:03:02.

I lost mine. Lost my bins! Have mine and see if they work for you. That

:03:03.:03:15.

was Anna Calvi. The weather was really rubbish. I thought I want to

:03:16.:03:19.

see Robert Plant, it's raining. I thought, come on. You are at a

:03:20.:03:24.

festival. Get out there. I did. I braved the elements. Man up. I

:03:25.:03:30.

suppose a lot of people want to see Led Zeppelin headlining Glastonbury.

:03:31.:03:36.

It could happen one days. Plant keeps trying new things, lineups and

:03:37.:03:42.

new bands. Sensational Space Shifters are his new band. They paid

:03:43.:03:46.

this afternoon. Here is a chunk of their set. -- played.

:03:47.:04:21.

# Ooh-ooh, ooh, oh Oh, yeah

:04:22.:05:43.

# Oh, now, love is enough though the world be waiting

Zeppelin tunes. The world influence there. A little bit of Bo Diddly.

:12:42.:13:59.

Massive amounts of Led Zeppelin. No really great stuff, I think. An

:14:00.:14:05.

icon. That is over used. You see his face on the big screen. He looks

:14:06.:14:14.

Mount Rushmore-esq. He does. He opened that stage. After it burnt

:14:15.:14:18.

down they had to build it quickly again. A few weeks before the

:14:19.:14:29.

festival one year. He Chrissened -- Chrissened it with a pint of milk.

:14:30.:14:34.

We have a live acoustic. This is a band called The Rails. They are a

:14:35.:14:40.

couple in every sense. Master guitarist who played with The

:14:41.:14:46.

Pretenders. Their album Fair Warning is an absolute joy. Someone decided

:14:47.:14:52.

to deliver several metal mop buckets. Hopefully, no-one is hurt.

:14:53.:14:58.

We will get back to you on that. We give you from the Fair Warning

:14:59.:15:02.

album, The Rails. # Oh, Bonny Portmore,

:15:03.:15:14.

you shine where you stand # And the more I think on you

:15:15.:15:19.

the more I think long # If I had you now

:15:20.:15:25.

as I had once before # All the lords in Old England

:15:26.:15:33.

would not purchase Portmore # O bonny Portmore,

:15:34.:15:40.

I am sorry to see # Such a woeful destruction

:15:41.:15:44.

of your ornament tree # For it stood on your shore

:15:45.:15:51.

for many's the long day # Till the long boats from Antrim

:15:52.:15:57.

came to float it away # O bonny Portmore,

:15:58.:16:05.

you shine where you stand # All the birds in the forest

:16:06.:16:10.

they bitterly weep # Saying, "Where will we shelter

:16:11.:16:13.

or where will we sleep?" # For the Oak and the Ash,

:16:14.:16:17.

they are all cutten down # And the walls of bonny Portmore

:16:18.:16:23.

are all down to the ground # Oh, Bonny Portmore,

:16:24.:17:01.

you shine where you stand # And the more I think on you

:17:02.:17:03.

the more I think long # If I had you now

:17:04.:17:08.

as I had once before # All the Lords of Old England

:17:09.:17:17.

would not purchase Portmore. # on the Park Stage. You can watch it

:17:18.:17:46.

on the live stream. On the website. The Rails album is called Fair

:17:47.:17:49.

Warning. It's a joy. We recommend that. Definitely. Two thumbs for

:17:50.:17:54.

that one. Thank you. Thank you very much. Ever so cold up here. I will

:17:55.:18:02.

let you into a secret. Shall we show them, Mark? I knew this was coming.

:18:03.:18:08.

Rock-and-roll. We know how to live! I tell you what. This next little

:18:09.:18:14.

film is for anyone who says Glastonbury is rubbish.

:18:15.:18:18.

# I see trees of green... # I am Lucy Smith I co-ordinate the

:18:19.:18:26.

green initiatives. I started to work in the press office. To work doing

:18:27.:18:32.

the green initiative your observations are completely

:18:33.:18:33.

different. # I think to myself

:18:34.:18:42.

# What a wonderful world... # We do a litter pickup at 6.00am that

:18:43.:18:51.

is taken and bagged up to a lorry to the resigh ling centre. They are

:18:52.:18:59.

hand sorting the rubbish. Cardboard, tins and plastic bottles. They are

:19:00.:19:03.

talking about the environmental messages and banning poll Stoy even

:19:04.:19:06.

then, which was progressive for Glastonbury to do that. They talk

:19:07.:19:11.

will recycling. It has always happened at the festivalle we could

:19:12.:19:16.

just have black bin, plastic cans, bottles going in the same thing and

:19:17.:19:19.

send it to land fill. The sustainability is in the heart of

:19:20.:19:22.

Glastonbury. It's in my heart. It's in the heart of everyone who works

:19:23.:19:28.

with the festival. They want to reduce the impact on the environment

:19:29.:19:30.

# What a wonderful world... # They do a fantastic job cleaning up.

:19:31.:19:52.

It's so quick. I came down to the festival site about six weeks after

:19:53.:19:56.

it was over, you would never know. The stone circles is here and the

:19:57.:20:00.

Skeleton of the Pyramid is here. That is it. People who come here for

:20:01.:20:04.

the first time can't believe it. The I walked around with a friend who

:20:05.:20:10.

said - this stays here. Showing off, what are you like? People can't

:20:11.:20:13.

believe it's stripped away in a couple of days. When the people

:20:14.:20:16.

aren't here the site looks quite small. That is what is weird about

:20:17.:20:21.

it. I don't want to be - this is a metaphor for Glastonbury. It's a

:20:22.:20:25.

metaphor for Glastonbury. The people coming and the bands and the kind of

:20:26.:20:30.

spectacle of the whole thing. The cabaret that makes it look enormous,

:20:31.:20:35.

is everybody being here. I know. Amazing place much amazing place.

:20:36.:20:39.

Someone we had on the show earlier on. They took a while to warm to the

:20:40.:20:44.

Glastonbury experience. They were suspicious of it many years ago.

:20:45.:20:49.

That is fair to say, yes. They are on top form. Their new album is

:20:50.:20:55.

great. Pixies were on the Other Stage, before them, quite a night

:20:56.:20:59.

down there, the Manic Street Preachers.

:27:17.:27:30.

# Went away # One day we will return

:27:31.:27:37.

# No matter how much it hurts # And it hurts... #

:27:38.:27:48.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Manic Street Preachers at Glastonbury today on

:27:49.:27:54.

The Other Stage. They will be with the other Nina, the German actress

:27:55.:27:58.

who you saw collaborating with them on the first song there. It's around

:27:59.:28:04.

this time of evening that we bring you cabaret entertainment. It

:28:05.:28:09.

certainly is. We swept the site and brought you The Lizard Man. He will

:28:10.:28:14.

do things that are, sort of, unexplainable. Lizardy He will do

:28:15.:28:24.

mystifying things with a beer g and a corkscrew. Give it up for The

:28:25.:28:31.

Lizard Man. My name is The Lizard Man from is Circus Field. I will

:28:32.:28:37.

give you a demonstration in the pierced weightlifting. I put these

:28:38.:28:43.

through my ears. Connecting them to the thin strip of flesh to the side

:28:44.:28:52.

of my head. In 3-2-1, I raise the keg off the ground. But this is the

:28:53.:28:57.

only the beginning. Now it's time for a helicopter spin. NO! Ah! Oh! I

:28:58.:29:13.

don't like it! Ah! I'm dizzy. I've got one more. Here it is. It's right

:29:14.:29:20.

here in the box. This is one of my absolute favourites. It's the

:29:21.:29:26.

cranial corkscrew. A corkscrew for my head. The tip right here goes up

:29:27.:29:32.

to the nose. The handle turns, it is travels through my sinus cavities

:29:33.:29:37.

down the back of my throat and ultimately out my mouth - like so!

:29:38.:29:43.

Oh... Oh... Ah... . The cranial corkscrew.

:29:44.:30:19.

APPLAUSE Well, that's all very well. We do have a

:30:20.:30:23.

bottle of wine that wants opening, actually. That is how most of the

:30:24.:30:27.

beer gets delivered across the site here at the Glastonbury festival. I

:30:28.:30:35.

love it Lizard Man. At the end he span round saying, "I feel a bit

:30:36.:30:44.

dizzy." I with would say that was the least of the problems. I have

:30:45.:30:51.

forgotten what we are going to next. It's West Holts. We have Charles

:30:52.:30:59.

Bradley. It's coming back to you. They are on the West Holt Stage.

:31:00.:31:13.

It's the dap Daptone super dap toen sup er The Daptone Super Soul

:31:14.:31:20.

Review. Let's go over to that. Ladies and gentlemen all over the

:31:21.:31:23.

world. There has been so much confusion. And we've got to change

:31:24.:31:25.

this confusion. # Can I tell them

:31:26.:31:55.

# Fear, greed # Come on, hit it

:31:56.:31:59.

# Confusion # People like to talk

:32:00.:32:22.

# Confusion. Come on, hit it # Confusion confusion

:32:23.:32:38.

# # Confusion

:32:39.:32:45.

# Who are you gonna trust # Before the world turns to dust

:32:46.:32:52.

# Come on # Who you gonna trust

:32:53.:32:54.

# Before the world turn to dust # Come on, hit it

:32:55.:33:21.

# All over the world! # There's got to be some changes out

:33:22.:33:24.

here # We've got to make it right

:33:25.:33:39.

# Come on... # Confusion

:33:40.:33:49.

# Yeah # Confusion

:33:50.:34:30.

# Come on # Give it

:34:31.:34:50.

# People don't let confusion # You know, I want to get wet.

:34:51.:35:23.

yes, come on. Rest in peace, Bobby. Soul music is going to get on. We're

:35:24.:36:05.

going to miss you, Bobby. # When I was a child I believed what

:36:06.:36:10.

they told me # Every word

:36:11.:36:14.

# Each one shall come, each one shall earn

:36:15.:36:17.

# And if I work hard # Nobody can hold me

:36:18.:36:28.

# Hold me # The better the man who was born

:36:29.:36:32.

with a fortune # A a hard day's work he's never

:36:33.:36:37.

done # Living on easy street

:36:38.:36:49.

# As he drinks his champagne and lay in the sun

:36:50.:36:55.

# Money don't follow sweat # Oh, it don't follow peace

:36:56.:37:06.

# Oh, yeah # There is a man who lives like a

:37:07.:37:13.

saint # He works from daybreak until late

:37:14.:37:17.

in the night # Oh, he's never stolen

:37:18.:37:22.

# He's never been lazy # To feed his family there'ses

:37:23.:37:27.

always a fight # Hey had beening he tried to do

:37:28.:37:31.

right by all of God's children # All of God's children

:37:32.:37:37.

# He works mighty hard for what he can afford

:37:38.:37:42.

# Oh, and he don't regret one single moment

:37:43.:37:48.

# No, he don't # Will he get his just rewards

:37:49.:37:53.

# Money don't follow sweat # Money don't follow brains

:37:54.:38:11.

# Oh, it don't feel (inaudible) # No matter what you do

:38:12.:38:38.

# No matter what you say # Oh... #

:38:39.:38:46.

That was great. Sharon Jones there and before that Charles Bradley.

:38:47.:38:50.

Excellent dancing there. Amazing dancing. The best dancing of the

:38:51.:38:57.

festival. Great to see Sharon paying tribute to Bobby Womack. Jen Long is

:38:58.:39:04.

experiencing something I've been told is called The Hand of Man. I'm

:39:05.:39:11.

here in Arcadia. I'm not wearing a seatbelt. Right now there is a

:39:12.:39:19.

tornado of fire behind me. I'm in The Hand of Man. Is that correct?

:39:20.:39:23.

That is correct. Welcome to The Hand. Can you explain to me what is

:39:24.:39:28.

going on? Sure. You have your hand inside of a glove controller. You

:39:29.:39:32.

are controlling this giantic high drolic hand that is capable of

:39:33.:39:36.

picking up and crushing cars. Amazing. How do I operate this? So,

:39:37.:39:44.

you are live now with the hand. OK. I'm doing something, I didn't mean

:39:45.:39:49.

to! Anything you do with your hand, the hand is going to do it. You are

:39:50.:39:54.

controlling that thing. I'm controlling it. Oh, my, God I'm

:39:55.:40:02.

controlling it now. It's like Robot Wars gone wrong. Or right. How did

:40:03.:40:08.

you come up with this idea? I have a long history of building robots,

:40:09.:40:13.

high drolic machines that I've always used to... Am I doing this

:40:14.:40:20.

right. I feel like I missed it? Close your thumb. Pull the thumb

:40:21.:40:26.

inside the wind shield. I will try and lift the car. I'm breaking it a

:40:27.:40:36.

lot! The feeling right now is incredible. I feel like the most

:40:37.:40:44.

powerful woman in the world! I am James Hetfield. You have it there.

:40:45.:40:48.

That is the point of thing. I used to destroy stuff with robots in a

:40:49.:40:54.

theatrical setting. I realised it's lot of fun to destroy stuff with

:40:55.:40:59.

high drolic machinery. It's fun. I decided I wanted to come up with

:41:00.:41:03.

something that would share that experience with everybody. I'm

:41:04.:41:08.

crushing it again. Why are we in Arcadia. Why is this the choice for

:41:09.:41:13.

your wild machinery? Well, I haven't seen any other area of Glastonbury

:41:14.:41:17.

where it would be quite as at home. I broke it! I'm destroying this car.

:41:18.:41:23.

Yes. I'm going to leave it be. We will go back to the studio. Thank

:41:24.:41:26.

you so much for sharing. Thank you, Jen. Your crazy invention. Great.

:41:27.:41:36.

Brilliant! That is all very well for Jen Long and her giant fist, that

:41:37.:41:40.

was my car. Now I have to live here. It's a missed opportunity to say I'm

:41:41.:41:47.

James Hetfield and didn't throw the evil hand. Show that to Lars

:41:48.:41:53.

tomorrow. Two to drum with. That would be really great, wouldn't it?

:41:54.:41:56.

Thank you very much, Jen. We will have mutesic from the BBC

:41:57.:42:02.

Introducing Stage now with Budapest. This is George Ezra. This song is

:42:03.:42:11.

called Budapest, I hope you enjoy it.

:42:12.:42:17.

# My house in Budapest # My hidden treasure chest,

:42:18.:42:23.

any men there? That is where the clean girls are. Only clean girls

:42:24.:45:53.

who look like they have been working in a travel agent and not spent the

:45:54.:45:58.

weekend at Glastonbury were allowed into that gig. They adore him. He

:45:59.:46:04.

seemed adorable. We will experience music royalty am we brought you live

:53:08.:53:11.

special piece live on the Pyramid Stage. We will be back at 5.00pm for

:53:12.:53:18.

one of the highlights. Not it decry all the other achievements that have

:53:19.:53:23.

been going on and the great performances and amazing things

:53:24.:53:27.

happen. There is the triumph of Dolly Parton. It feels right. A

:53:28.:53:31.

country girl coming home to a different kind of country, fair

:53:32.:53:35.

enough. One of the best selling artist and most successful

:53:36.:53:40.

songwriters of all-time. 3,000 songs to her name. Everybody is revved up

:53:41.:53:45.
