Headlining the Pyramid Stage on Sunday is one man, his guitar

and a song book bursting with the common touch and global appeal.

It's the red-hot Ed Sheeran.

Independently releasing music since the age of 13,

the talented former choirboy had his breakthrough

in the late noughties and the spotlight soon beckoned.

But now, a marvellous new artist from Suffolk,

let's welcome Ed Sheeran!

After his debut single, The A Team, firmly announced his arrival

by shooting straight into the top three in 2011,

and with his first solo album, +, just about to drop, there was

only one thing left for Ed to do - pack his bags for Worthy Farm.

I only really started paying attention to Glastonbury

when my friends started playing it.

And I always tried to get booked on little stages and never could.

And it wasn't until BBC Introducing said, "We will book you..."

he also played a series of even more intimate gigs

around the festival that same weekend.

I think I did 12 in the end.

I did kind of make a promise to myself after that, that I wouldn't

Three years later, in 2014, that Sheeran determination landed him

a slot next to Dolly Parton.
