Day 2: Live and Highlights Glastonbury

Glastonbury is watching from home on my sofa.

Hello, everybody and welcome to date two of the world's best Festival,

Glastonbury Festival, hearing quite glorious Somerset. Look at this

weather. Bathed in sunshine, it's beautiful, it's been a great day

here, is always running the full musical gamut from Thundercat right

through the Craig David who killed it on the Pyramid Stage. Closely

followed by Jeremy Corbyn. It's been quite a day and we're going to be

bringing you as much of the action as possible. Later on the night

you'll see Katy Perry and also the headline is on the Pyramid Stage,

Foo Fighters. But now, we have something quite lovely for you. Yes,

we do. We are going to check out some action from the Pyramid Stage

in a few minutes' time with Jools Holland and his orchestra but before

we go there, the story so far off Glastonbury 2017.

the world. Also, our predictions were right. I think it's going to be

one area where I am superstitious. You need to bring your waterproofs,

just in case. I caught up with Jools Holland earlier today. He hadn't

brought any. It was slightly worried. The rain that was starting

at the beginning of his set, the clouds parted and it was sunshine

set, fantastic crowd for them and we have some live music for you right

the Junction has always been a favourite, but I never knew it was

missing and orchestra and it's so obviously is. It was with as and

Junction withers and here they are. Amazing, extraordinary. Wonderful

stuff. Any plans to record with these guys in the future? We are

just finishing an album now. I'm really looking forward to it.

Glastonbury site. Two days before the gates open, we

have a number of tours going round the site that Michael Foster and I

help out for some of the more senior members of the community, so this

morning we've got the Happy Circle from Pilton. I've been in the

village for over 150 years, my family, so we are local people. We

were here in the first place. My name is Rodney. I've lived in the

village for over 40 years. I've been here since it started, but driving

the coach, I expect 22 years. Part of the scenery, really. It's almost

two and a half miles east to west and a mile north to south, but I

think what fascinates them is the scale of the organisation. I know

all of these people. That's good, isn't it?

trendy, and I'm not that trendy any more. Well, that is a matter of

minibus to get the villagers to see what it was like down here, and now

we've got 57 seats and every year it's getting more. They like to come

and have a look. They can't get about too often.

This is one field where nothing happens. People come and sit on the

grass. There was a tall, skinny, stark naked man hugging one of those

stones. You don't see that all of the time! We are thankful to Michael

for taking us on a trip today. Thank you, Michael. This is Michael's

family, home and village, and these are his friends. That's why it

but we are trying to give you the full experience. What a bad taste?

We are great to out. Glastonbury is the best bands but also the best

snacks. What has been your highlight? A Cornish woman gave me a

protein ball and, I must say, it kept me going. I enjoyed a cheese

toasty last night. A bit of pesto and a bit of ham. Here is James

finding out more about the food on offer. There is nothing quite like

getting your boogie on to work up an appetite but leading 200,000

festivalgoers is massive, and the heart of it is behind this secret

gate. -- feeding 200,000 festivalgoers. Where are we?

Wholesale, where we supply all the traders and keep people happy. Shall

we have a look? Yeah. How is that courgette? It is firm. Feel the

weight on that! And a good girth. Flat leaf parsley. I have heard

there are a lot of herbs at Glastonbury. The range of produce is

incredible. You can have everything from across the world 24/7. It's a

city the size of Swindon and everybody needs to eat. Family

traders are on site? 514 food traders. What tips would you give?

We are looking for a nice product that is colourful and eye-catching

in keeping with the festival at a good price. What is the most unusual

application you've had from a trader? This year we've got vegan

jackfruit and the Mexican Brito stall. They also do a spin on fish

made from Hoffman. That is to spend thousands of people on site. It is a

side of the operation people maybe don't say. All of the food gets

eaten out here. Let's see what culinary delights Glastonbury has to

offer. Home fried tortilla chips with barbecue pulled jackfruit. A

big amount of jackfruit. It's good. This is the toadfish taco, tofu with

seaweed on it. This will blow your mind. It was called fresh this

morning! -- it was caught. Curries, stir-fries, salads. Not bad. In

English stir-fry with barley. It's meant to be a healthy dish. I've

been here 31 years. People know if they come to sell food they've got

to try and do something a bit different, or at least well,

home-made, locally produced. Those things are brownie points if you

want to get on at Glastonbury. Nice to meet you. What's happening

here, what are you making? Have you made this type of bread? As a first

time for everything. Do you use a lot of stuff from the wholesale

market? I every order everything in bulk. You need that back-up because

there's so much going on. So an operation like this can only really

happen at a festival like Glastonbury? Yes. Lets get our buns

in the oven. Look at those beauties, all sizzling. How organic does not

look? And all made in a field in Glastonbury. All made in a field,

good, honest food. I've had food that tastes like meat, a great

British stir-fry, and a bun in the oven. I still fancy a bit of desert.

An ice cream! Forget that. You know when you watch the Great

British Bake Off and you're like, I need a cake now. You bobbin

famished! I'm starving, I've never eaten food before. After watching

that, I need all of that right now, please. You are desperate for some

of that fish. Just gagging for it. Can we get some? While we do that

we're going to play use the music. This is British Sea Power earlier

British Sea Power on the Other Stage with a very dirty polar bear. I do

think it's ever going to look natural. I don't think there's a

casual way to lean on it. We're going to throw thrillingly live, to

Yasser, experiencing some Glastonbury magic. We are here in

the theatre and circus feel. It's pretty manic at the moment. We have

pelicans, some other animals I've never seen before. We've also got

some butterflies. It's quite magical, I'm telling you that. I've

It is Glastonbury 2017 and I enjoyed backstage before the deadline the

pyramid stage, Nate, Dave and Rufus, the Foo Fighters. How are you? Not

bad. Did you enjoy Katy Perry? I saw a couple of songs and it was pretty

awesome. Adolphe -- a diverse line-up with a lot of energy.

Driving through the crowd, you spot people you know. We saw Liam

Gallagher's last song. The last ten 's organs. What do you remember from

Glastonbury 1998? I think we went on as some sort of Euro cup final.

Right before that, I looked at the audience and thought, this will be

amazing, and then we went out for a drink and came back and nobody was

in front of the stage. Spacious. But what I remember is that it was kind

of training and may be cold, so the body heat created that weird sweat

above the audience. The atmosphere here is always incredible. You were

meant to headline two years ago and the leg happened. I'm sorry. But you

are here now. That's the main thing. We were excited to play and we

couldn't and we knew we'd come back at some point. When we found out we

were coming back for this one, we were excited. And Florence and the

machine stepped in. I was high on painkillers watching Florence to

headline the set and she did one of our songs and was in a wheelchair

crying. We owe her one. Of course. Have a brilliant time. Are you

looking forward to it? Absolutely, so much. Is going to be a good one,

I can feel it! When I walked out, Jeremy Corbyn was on stage and there

were 10 billion people out there and I was like, I would like this place

up. We can't wait for your set tonight at the Remit.
