similar album content to us. If it doesn't meet my daughter, I'm

going to be in trouble. That guy in front of 100,000 people.

Amazing. High, and welcome to our show, my

gosh, the most glorious day today, sun has come out. But the music has

been exceptional today, something for absolutely everyone.

An amazing day, we were saying on the way up here it is a shame it is

not happening next year. People are feeling bereft, the

melancholy has set in. It will be a magical night. Of

course, all roads lead to Ed Sheeran with one of the big gigs of his

career, in 45 minutes. 9:45pm on stage. Barry Gibb wanted

to meet one person today, that person was Ed Sheeran. That meeting

has happened. He thinks he is a huge talent as a songwriter.

Goodness knows what they were talking about.

We will go down to Clara now for a feeling of what is going on.

Worthy Farm. There is a lot of love around. I suspect wedding proposals

Behind the Pyramid Stage is a massive bus painted in Ed Sheeran

artwork. What is in the bus at much he's only

got a guitar! He was bringing lots of friends and

family, I spoke to him the other day. His entire family on that bus.

Coming to him today. 9:45pm, headlining Glastonbury. Now,

Biffy Clyro had a brilliant time. This is what happened.

While, incredible, I hope you are having the same feelings as we are,

blown away by the performance. The way everything looks at the moment

following in that tradition of bringing country to Glastonbury.

I love the storytelling of country music so much. It is the conduit

between acting and music, for me. # Smart enough to know much better

Ain't tough enough to be alone You look the part at that, does it

help being an actor on stage? It is a really good question, I

thought it would, you would think 35 years of being on stage in front of

people would make you more comfortable. As an actor I have

always had a character to hide behind.

I am so aware of the stigma of an actor doing music, it required me to

open up in a way I wasn't so comfortable with at the beginning.

I finally got to a place where I like my songs enough and at a point

where someone says something not nice, go ahead, I don't care.

the site of Barry Gibb putting on the golden jacket, three guys in

front of him were dressed as Barry Gibb and he sportingly put on the

That is why I am not doing Strictly. Over two Yasser, it is nearly time

for Ed Sheeran and his headline set on the Pyramid Stage and Yasser is

in the middle of it. I am in the middle of it all.

Since 10am. It is fair to say they are really

excited. I can't even hear myself anymore.

It goes further and further back, everyone is extremely excited over

Exhausted but worth it. You have been constantly screaming.

Amazing. Clara, where are you? I am over here, the excitement is

clearly high, 200,000 people. And you guys at home getting ready to

see a guy who at one point couldn't even book a gig here at Glastonbury.

He is no stranger to the Pyramid Stage. He has performed here before

but tonight will be arguably one of the biggest of his career. Earlier

he told Annie Mac that he wanted to win over new fans. I suspect he will

do that tonight. Before we get ready for him, that us

look at why here's earned his place on that Pyramid Stage tonight.

Headlining the Pyramid Stage is one man, his guitar and is song book

bursting with the common touch and global appeal, the red hot Ed

Sheeran. Independently releasing music since

13, he had his breakthrough in the naughties and the Spotlight soon

beckoned. A marvellous new artist, let us

welcome Ed Sheeran. They say she is in the class 18.

She is stuck in her daydream, being this way since 18.

After his debut single, he shot straight into the top three in 2011.

With his first solo album about to drop there was only one thing left

him to do. Pack his bags for Worthy Farm.

I only started paying attention to Glastonbury when my friends started

playing it. I always tried to get booked on the little stages and

couldn't. It wasn't until the BBC said they would book me.

Glastonbury, how are you doing. My name is Ed Sheeran, thank you for

coming out today. This city never sleeps, the people

walked by when it is late. For the lucky few able to catch him

on the rise, he played a series of even more intimate gigs around the

festival that same weekend. I got a set.

I think I did the Acoustic Stage. And then I played a late one in a

circus tent. Then I played a really small one

without any PA because it broke. I think I did 12 in the end.

It was a slog, it was a slog. As the sun set on Glastonbury 2011,

he looked to the future. I did make a promise to myself after

that I wouldn't go back to Glastonbury unless I was playing the

Pyramid Stage. Three years later in 2014, that

determination landed him a slot next to Dolly Parton.

I got asked to do the Sunday afternoon slot and I remember being,

I would rather play at night. It did end up being the best I could have

had. Parents and kids wanted to sing along. That is what I had to offer.

And now with four Brit awards, and a Grammy and his belt, the Suffolk

light has a lot more to offer. His latest album smashed records in

March when he became the first artist to have every song from an

album entered the top 20 singles chart, nine in the top ten.

Now a global phenomenon who has filled Wembley three times in a row,

this humble man with his guitar is more than ready to rock the Pyramid

Stage. The Pyramid Stage this time will be

definitely the biggest night time slot I have done.

The only way in Gatenby is to play songs people know. Even if you don't

buy my music you will have heard it on the radio and having a sing along

with your mates is always fun. Always so honest and ready to share

that with you tonight as he graces the Pyramid Stage to headline

Glastonbury on Sunday. Ed Sheeran. When we spoke my radio

show he has always said, I am who I am. He famously took a year of

social media, away from music. Just to live, doing everything from

white water rafting, to hanging out in Ghana.

He then made a song in my native language.

Just to show the journey he has had. A guy who has had ridiculous success

will stop it got too much to him, he took time out. He now has this

brand-new songs. I'll never forget the time when he

was dominating the charts and Greg James had to announce the one song

consecutively as number one for 14 weeks! It is going to go off

tonight! Yasser is still at the front... I am still in the middle of

the Pyramid Stage, a lot of Ed Sheeran fans. Who can be the

loudest? CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

And it just keeps going! So many of them!

There is a lot of people who are! CHEERING. I have to say, the

atmosphere is electric ear, back over to you guys. Yasser must be

tired after that! That is his exercise routine! I must point out,

people are trying to claim parts of the set, the hare has already been

recovered -- claimed. Ed Sheeran is almost ready to get onto the Pyramid

Stage. I cannot think of another solo performer with his acoustic

guitar who has headlined the Pyramid Stage. I am probably wrong but we

are ready for this! As he heard from Ed Sheeran, he is ready for this, he

has history with this festival and his rise to stardom has been

phenomenal. I have never seen anybody so unfazed I doing a show

and when he was talking about Wembley, he was not daunted

whatsoever because he loves getting out there. The idea of being nervous

about doing this, not at all expect he cannot wait! And a lot of you

might never have seen Ed Sheeran live, he is about to step onto the

Pyramid Stage but we can look at this beautiful sight. Worthy Farm,

the last Glastonbury for two years, it will be back in 2019? Where

exactly, I am not sure. Look at that sky and the lights. This is the best

time of night at Glastonbury. We are in the park area, 200,000 people

here. At this incredible festival, which brings so many together every

year. Politics and ideas and every possible kind of culture. It meets

here every year. At the moment, when people are troubled, this has been

an escape and we hope it has been for you, wherever you are, lose

yourself in the music and see the effect user can have on people, so

many smiling faces and the line-up has been amazing, why is it so good?

Because the bands have been exceptional. Did you get to see The

Killers? No but we will show you some of them after Ed Sheeran later

on. It has been a brilliant year with grime, Stormzy had a great one.

Wylie, Kano is on the Park Stage and we can bring you some of that later

on after Ed Sheeran. What is Ed Sheeran doing right by? Apart from

keeping us hanging on. He can't be arguing with his band. Or inherent

make-up! Maybe it is his guitar strings? I think he is ready. Clara

is in front of the Pyramid Stage. As Worthy Farm is enjoying a singalong

to Green Day, Ed Sheeran is getting ready to join us for what definitely

will be the most important gig of his career. 17 acts have graced the

Pyramid Stage and there is only one left, get ready for Ed Sheeran!
