I go to this corner of the room where a man has his first brilliant

solo album - well he doesn't have it there - I have it here. He is

Noel Gallagher. Welcome back to the show. APPLAUSE Very lovely record.

I have been enjoying it very much. Is that the ideal for the person to

listen to it? I don't know, I can't drive! Making a solo record, did

you find that daunting? Were you looking forward to it? I didn't

announce I was making one. By the time the speculation started, or

whatever it was, it was already finished. I didn't really - no, I

took it day-by-day and song by song. I had a lot of material. I hadn't

thought about it. Did you think about it differently than you would

have done if it had been an Oasis record? I have never sat down to

write an album. I write all the time. When I go in the studio, I

have a bunch of songs. I never sit down to write a project as such.

Again, I never thought about it. I don't really think of things like

that. I record the Best Songs I think I have got and see how it

goes. You have written some amazing songs. Is there any songs you would

have liked to have written? Apart from Kill For Cats?! I don't get

song envy. Not so much envy, but admiration? Erm... A lot of Neil

Young. I listen to his albums and think I'm going to be like him one

day! Do you remember the last time on the show? It was about ten years

ago. It was about 16 years ago. it really? Unbelievable! It is true.

great haircut! The haircut was all right. You don't have to worry

about that any more. What is the next song? It is called The Death

Of You And Me. It was my first single off the new album. What

inspired that? I guess living in London, the big city, longing to

see if the grass is greener on the other side. You are best staying

where you are. It's the same as it is where you are. The grass is

Life. Noel Gallagher! I am delighted to welcome Antony and

Josh from Red Hot Chili Peppers, at this table here. Nice to see you

both. Welcome back to the show. Thank you. The band is sounding

great. It is five years since the last record. And how come you left

it so long? Five years, is that right? It seems like five. It is

never really that long. Maybe since we actually recorded the record

before it but then we go out on the road for years on end, took a

little break and found Josh. Exactly. How did you find Josh?

Erm... Josh is a friend who happened to be in our circle of

people and it was just kind of a perfect and magical transition

where our previous guitar player, John, was ready to do something

else and we said that sounds sensible and then we thought about

it for a while and just let it come to us where we should go. Instead

of forcing some weird uncomfortable awkward direction, we drifted

towards... The comfortable job! Which has been not too praise him

too wildly on television, but it's been the greatest thing that could

have ever happened to us. He sounds great. Do you feel as if you have

blended straight in? I have known these guys for a while. Is it a

difficult group to fit into? really. They are so open and they

are kind of, they want me to be me and have as much fun as they are.

When you are on tour, do you - what do you do? Do you see the sights in

the cities you are in? Sometimes the sights, I have been bringing my

son on tour with me and I try to show him around a bit, he is four.

Show him the world! Show him the world. That is a good time to see

it, before it ends! True, before it ends. It could be next year.
