in the breeze. Lee Westwood finds themselves 13 behind going into the | :00:04. | :00:10.
weekend. A lot of work to be done. We are gearing up to live coverage | :00:10. | :00:18.
this weekend starting at 2:15pm tomorrow on BBC One, and then the | :00:18. | :00:24.
decisive final round on Sunday on BBC Two. What a final round we had | :00:24. | :00:29.
last year between the world numbers 1 and 2. That will clearly not | :00:30. | :00:34.
happen this year but regardless of the outcome, it will be compelling. | :00:34. | :00:44.

The lovely sound | :15:04. | :15:04.
The lovely sound of | :15:04. | :15:09.
The lovely sound of Beach House. The song, Myth, from their album | :15:09. | :15:15.
Blue. Now at the piano the man you saw maying a moment ago, one of the | :15:15. | :15:24.
greatest ledge enced of Jamaican music, one of the greatest legends | :15:24. | :15:30.
of music, Jimmy Cliff. You have this record out, Rebirth, what a | :15:30. | :15:33.
fantastic record it is. It's your first record for about seven years. | :15:33. | :15:38.
Yes, it is. What inspired you to make this record? Well, it's a time | :15:38. | :15:44.
for me to make a new album, first of all, and I always like to | :15:44. | :15:47.
highlight and reflect on what's going on in the world as well as my | :15:47. | :15:52.
own life, what I'm doing, and that's the inspiration, just from | :15:52. | :15:56.
living my life and intermingling with everyone It sounds to me like | :15:56. | :15:59.
you're going back to your roots a little bit in this. Would I be | :15:59. | :16:05.
right in thinking that? Yes, going back to my roots because this album | :16:05. | :16:08.
is like the completion of a chapter that was incomplete, so I decided | :16:08. | :16:14.
to go forward to the roots on this one. You have written some amazing | :16:14. | :16:18.
songs, but you have also done some covers by people. Which are the | :16:18. | :16:23.
people You have covered? Guns of Brixton by the Clash because of my | :16:23. | :16:29.
connection with Joe Strummer. The last song he did was with me on my | :16:29. | :16:33.
last album, so that's one of the covers I have done. He was great, | :16:33. | :16:36.
wasn't he? Fantastic. Yes. And the thing is, you started very young, | :16:36. | :16:41.
really, didn't you, in music? How did you get your start in | :16:41. | :16:46.
music? Oh, I - you know, I have always known from a very early age | :16:46. | :16:52.
singing in church and things like that that music is what I love - | :16:52. | :16:56.
the arts. Actually, I like acting more, but music came easier to do, | :16:56. | :17:00.
so I did that. I just pursued that, you know? When I left the country, | :17:00. | :17:04.
I grew up in the country, then when I went to the city, Kingston, I | :17:05. | :17:09.
just had some songs, and I found out who I could get them recorded | :17:09. | :17:13.
with. Your first hit I think you had when you were 14, is that | :17:13. | :17:19.
right? Yes. In 1960, so the same year as Jamaican independence. Can | :17:19. | :17:22.
we have a little bit because it's just a sweet song. I used to dance | :17:22. | :17:27.
to that song. Maybe your band will clap along in time because it is | :17:27. | :17:37.
:17:37. | :17:40. | ||
# Violets are blue # Believe me | :17:40. | :17:45.
# I love you # Let's not be apart because you're | :17:45. | :17:50.

person I am going to pass I have to say hello to because she always | :27:47. | :27:49.
dresses beautifully, absolutely impeccably, Paloma Faith. Wonderful | :27:49. | :27:56.
to have you here. You sing beautifully. Where did this | :27:56. | :28:02.
marvellous dress come from? It's a designer called Inbar Spectre who | :28:02. | :28:06.
sculpts beautiful things. It is beautiful. It fits beautifully into | :28:06. | :28:14.
the neck of the piano as if it were a glove. Here is your record - | :28:14. | :28:18.
you're in another fantastic frock. I have to ask, is that your parrot? | :28:18. | :28:23.
No, but I wish it was. It was really well trained. It's a real | :28:23. | :28:27.
parrot? It's a real parrot, and it just flew back and forth all day | :28:27. | :28:32.
long without getting angry. How did you know it wasn't angry? It just | :28:32. | :28:36.
seemed well behaved. When you have experience -- I have experience | :28:36. | :28:41.
with birds from the magic day, and they always seemed to fly off when | :28:41. | :28:45.
they got bored, but this was a very focused parrot. | :28:45. | :28:47.
LAUGHTER Do you have any pet yourself? | :28:47. | :28:51.
don't. I don't have the attention span to look after them. What would | :28:51. | :28:54.
you have - if you did have a few moments to look after a pet, what | :28:54. | :28:59.
would you have? A tiger. We will get you one! You're going to be | :29:00. | :29:04.
playing a marvellous song in a moment, which we shall look forward | :29:04. | :29:07.
to hearing that - Paloma Faith. Marvellous to see you. Now, you're | :29:07. | :29:11.
going to be hearing her in just a moment, but now, let's hear the one | :29:11. | :29:21.

I'm feeling good tonight. Are you feeling good tonight? Me too. | :37:05. | :37:06.
Feeling good over there? APPLAUSE | :37:06. | :37:11.
Me too. We have some lovely artists in this room, so now let's enjoy | :37:11. | :37:21.

Very nice manoeuvring from Jake Bugg. Jake Bugg and Trouble Town. | :44:36. | :44:42.
Before that we enjoyed Beach House, done beautifully there. A lovely | :44:42. | :44:45.
room full of people here - beautifully dressed as well. Can I | :44:45. | :44:49.
just point this out - it is television - beautifully dressed | :44:49. | :44:54.
people in this room, very nice to see. And now, next, this is the | :44:54. | :44:58.
last in our current series, but on to the next few weeks at the same | :44:58. | :45:03.
time are some incredible films all about punk music, which was, of | :45:03. | :45:06.
course, invented here in Britain and London and everything. These | :45:06. | :45:11.
are amazing films, and one of the people they feature rather allot is | :45:11. | :45:18.
this man here, TV Smith. Of course, we - I remember, of | :45:19. | :45:26.
course, you in the adverts - this great punk band you were a part of. | :45:26. | :45:31.
What was your first introduction of the world of punk? Well, we moved | :45:31. | :45:37.
to London in '76 and were one of the first bands to play at the | :45:37. | :45:43.
Roxie. By the beginning of '77 it was all kicking off. We played that | :45:43. | :45:50.
club, and within the first week we were at 20, 30 bands. How many | :45:50. | :45:55.
people played... We supported. was one of them. It was great, | :45:55. | :45:59.
really good. I remember it well. What would you say, maybe a hundred | :45:59. | :46:04.
people I would have thought. Yeah. I would think you were be pushed to | :46:04. | :46:09.
get 70, a hundred people in there. But what do you think - what was it | :46:09. | :46:13.
that created punk music? What were things like before there was punk I | :46:13. | :46:17.
suppose? Well, it was a big music industry, and lots of bands were | :46:17. | :46:21.
just satisfied with what they were doing. They weren't pushing against | :46:21. | :46:25.
anything. The situation in the country was very bad, and the | :46:25. | :46:28.
musicians were ignoring it. They were presenting the same old thing | :46:29. | :46:33.
over and over again, and we needed something new, and loads of punk | :46:33. | :46:37.
bands came in. They stormed in. They took over. They all did | :46:37. | :46:41.
something they believed in - lots of new things happening, lots of | :46:41. | :46:46.
excitement. Yes, and I should also - which you don't see so much | :46:46. | :46:49.
anymore which is couldn't care less. We don't care what you think of us. | :46:49. | :46:53.
This is what we do sort of thing, which is almost like a blues | :46:53. | :46:57.
attitude. Definitely. There is definitely a tradition of it that | :46:57. | :47:00.
musicians say we don't care about you. We're going to do what we want, | :47:00. | :47:04.
and if that doesn't happen, things carry on the same way they ever do. | :47:04. | :47:09.
Do you think in the punk time it was bait like in the medieval time | :47:09. | :47:13.
or in the Renaissance - we look back and go, we're in the | :47:13. | :47:18.
Renaissance. They didn't go, we're in the Renaissance now! But did | :47:18. | :47:23.
they realise what was happening? don't think we thought about it. | :47:23. | :47:27.
That's the thing in these great moments. You seize the opportunity | :47:27. | :47:32.
and don't sit around thinking it's of historical significance. But we | :47:32. | :47:37.
are! 35 years later, here we are. Now we've got a little bit of | :47:37. | :47:42.
footage of you on Top Of The Pops, quite rare for a punk group. Punk | :47:42. | :47:47.
groups weren't welcome on Top Of The Pops. Top Of The Pops was a | :47:47. | :47:53.
traditional thing. They wanted nice, happy, clap-along bands, and the | :47:53. | :47:58.
punk groups were popular enough to get in the chart, so they couldn't | :47:58. | :48:02.
resist us. Guaranteed the stillly | :48:03. | :48:08.
# Because people see the same # Looking through Gary Gilmoreos | :48:08. | :48:12.
eyes # Looking through Gary Gilmore's | :48:12. | :48:15.
eyes # Looking through Gary Gilmore's | :48:15. | :48:22.
eyes # Gary don't need no eyes to see | :48:22. | :48:25.
# Gary and his eyes have parted company # | :48:25. | :48:33.
Marvellous. APPLAUSE | :48:33. | :48:39.
So you - now you work solo a lot of time. You go out with just a guitar. | :48:39. | :48:42.
That's right. Would you say it has that spirit of punk music about it? | :48:42. | :48:46.
It's exactly the same spirit. It's all about rebelling and seeing what | :48:46. | :48:49.
you mean and getting out there and looking people in the eyes and | :48:49. | :48:52.
giving them what you believe is the truth. Yes, a little bit of | :48:52. | :49:02.
:49:02. | :49:05. | ||
"couldn't care less". I love that. You're in this film, Punk Britannia. | :49:05. | :49:15.
It's interesting to see because of the haircuts and people don't have | :49:15. | :49:21.
cars and - lovely. Thank you for joining us, TV Smith. | :49:21. | :49:27.
Now, we've got a beautiful sound over here - what a beautiful band | :49:27. | :49:37.

Silence in the room, please. I need silence in the room. Sadly, two | :57:28. | :57:34.
great legends of music have been lost this week, Donna Summer and | :57:34. | :57:39.
robin Gibb. On Tuesday's film we saw a short film of Robin Gibb. Now | :57:39. | :57:41.
we're going to take a moment to remember the wonderful, lovely | :57:41. | :57:51.
:57:51. | :58:00. | ||
so I love this song particularly. # When I find myself in times of | :58:00. | :58:03.
trouble # Mother Mary comes to me | :58:03. | :58:09.
# Speaking words of wisdom # Let it be | :58:09. | :58:18.
