-I've written lots of songs

-with the material I'm writing.

-I hadn't quite found my sound.

-with the songs I've written.

-I've a soulful voice

-with Celtic influences...

-..when I sing long, breathy notes.

-It's a combination

-of lots of different styles.

-I hope it gets a good reception.

-I'm excellent. It's nice to be here.

-in the life of Rhydian.

-I'm working hard at the moment.

-I've been promoting

-my new album, One Day Like This.

-I'm rehearsing for a tour

-which kicks off in the autumn.

-Aside from that,

-I go to the gym regularly.

-I don't sing opera like you...

-..but I train as a classical

-singer, though I do more musicals.

-It's important to be fit

-so that I can dance and sing.

-I do intensive vocal training.

-Some people warm up the voice

-for hours before a performance.

-Personally, I don't spend very long

-warming up, but how about you?

-Then you're lucky. Someone like Bryn

-and yourself can stand up and sing.

-But I can't do that.

-I have to warm up my voice.

-I do very simple exercises.

-You recently won a special award.

-Tell us more about that.

-It was the Welsh Musical Theatre

-Young Singer of the Year.

-It was quite funny, actually.

-I was in the theatre and only Mam

-was there to watch me in the final.

-Everybody else

-had brought lots of supporters.

-A person came on stage and said,

-"And the winner is Luke McCall."

-There was silence...

-..and then Mam started clapping.

-Everyone else clapped begrudgingly.

-I was lucky to win, to be honest.

-I have to ask, what's the story

-behind those shoes?

-I was looking for something at home

-and I came across them.

-I thought, 'I'm going to

-wear these for concerts.'

-I thought if ever I made a mistake

-during a concert...

-..they wouldn't remember me for

-the mistake but for the red shoes.

-the busiest choirs in Wales.

-Possibly. We like keeping busy.

-Our tours are important to us.

-We've been to Chicago, Canada

-and Lake Garda.

-playing smaller venues.

-What's the appeal

-of being in a choir like this?

-The singing's important, obviously.

-More importantly, the socializing.

-We're all good friends. A group

-of us has just been to France.

-Socializing

-is equally important as the singing.

-What's in store for us?

-There are two soloists here.

-It's quite a showy programme.

-dancing and singing.

-We've just made it through to the

-BBC Choir of the Year semi-finals.

-We're working hard for that.

-It's going to be quite a challenge -

-a different kind of challenge.

-How do you go about

-choosing your repertoire?

-I like

-as much variety as possible...

-..so that the rehearsals

-don't get too tedious.

-Tonight we're doing lighter pieces

-..whereas another time we might do
