A very warm welcome
to Leeds Cathedral, | 0:00:18 | 0:00:22
in the heart of the city. | 0:00:22 | 0:00:24
You join us on one of the most
important nights in the Christian | 0:00:24 | 0:00:26
calendar - the great feast
of Christmas, when God | 0:00:26 | 0:00:29
sent his Son, Jesus,
to live among us as one of us. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:34
I am standing in the Chapel
dedicated to Blessed Mary, | 0:00:34 | 0:00:37
the Mother of Jesus. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
Behind the altar, you can see
St Anne, our patron, | 0:00:39 | 0:00:43
the Mary's Mother, teaching her
daughter her prayers. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:47
With them and all the saints,
we rejoice once more that God has | 0:00:47 | 0:00:52
reached down and taken what is ours:
our frailty, sinfulness, anxieties | 0:00:52 | 0:00:59
and given us what is his:
hope, forgiveness and love. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:04

As we prepare to celebrate
the birth of Christ, | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
we pause to bless this
Christmas manger scene. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:02
When we look upon these figures,
the Christmas gospel comes alive | 0:03:02 | 0:03:06
and we rejoice in the mystery
of the Son of God made man. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:13
Let us pray. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
God of every nation and people,
from the very beginning of creation | 0:03:17 | 0:03:23
you have made manifest your love:
when our need for a Saviour | 0:03:23 | 0:03:29
was great you sent your Son to be
born of the Virgin Mary. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:36
To our lives he brings joy
and peace, justice, mercy and love. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:45
Lord, bless this manger, may it
remind us of the humble birth. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:53
of Jesus, and raise up our thoughts
to him, who is God-with-us | 0:03:53 | 0:03:58
and Saviour of all, and who lives
and reigns for ever and ever. | 0:03:58 | 0:04:07
Amen. | 0:04:09 | 0:04:11 | |
# O come all ye faithful | 0:04:18 | 0:04:23
# Joyful and triumphant | 0:04:23 | 0:04:27
# O come ye to Bethlehem | 0:04:27 | 0:04:35
In the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. | 0:07:53 | 0:07:57
ALL: Amen. | 0:07:57 | 0:07:58
Peace be with you. | 0:07:58 | 0:08:00

Brothers and sisters,
let us acknowledge our sins, and so | 0:08:03 | 0:08:08

Lord Jesus, you are mighty God
and Prince of Peace. | 0:08:16 | 0:08:20
Lord, have mercy. | 0:08:20 | 0:08:22
I confess to Almighty God. | 0:08:22 | 0:08:26
You are the Son of God
and the Son of Mary. | 0:08:28 | 0:08:30

us to everlasting life. | 0:08:49 | 0:08:52

with the splendour of the true
light, grant, we pray, that we, | 0:14:32 | 0:14:37
who have known the mysteries

may also delight in his
gladness in heaven. | 0:14:41 | 0:14:46
Who lives and reigns
with you in the unity. | 0:14:46 | 0:14:49
of the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever. | 0:14:49 | 0:14:53
ALL: Amen. | 0:14:53 | 0:14:55
A reading from the prophet Isaiah. | 0:15:05 | 0:15:08
The people that walked | 0:15:08 | 0:15:09
in darkness has seen
a great light, on those | 0:15:09 | 0:15:14
who dwelt in a land of deep
shadow a light has shone | 0:15:14 | 0:15:19
You have made their gladness
greater, you have made their joy | 0:15:19 | 0:15:23
increase, they rejoice
in your presence as men rejoice | 0:15:23 | 0:15:29
at harvest time, as men are happy
when they are dividing the spoils. | 0:15:29 | 0:15:37
For the yoke that was
weighing on him, the bar | 0:15:37 | 0:15:40
across his shoulders,
the rod of his oppressor, | 0:15:40 | 0:15:46
these you break as
on the day of Midian. | 0:15:46 | 0:15:51
For all the footgear of battle,
every cloak rolled in blood, | 0:15:51 | 0:15:55
is burnt and consumed by fire. | 0:15:55 | 0:16:01
For there is a child born for us,
a son given to us and dominion | 0:16:01 | 0:16:05
is laid on his shoulders,
and this is the name they give him: | 0:16:05 | 0:16:13
Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God,
Eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace. | 0:16:13 | 0:16:21
Wide is his dominion
in a peace that has no end, | 0:16:21 | 0:16:27
for the throne of David
and for his royal power, | 0:16:27 | 0:16:32
which he establishes and makes
secure in justice and integrity. | 0:16:32 | 0:16:39
From this time onwards
and for ever, the jealous love | 0:16:39 | 0:16:44
of the Lord of hosts will do this. | 0:16:44 | 0:16:48
The word of the Lord. | 0:16:48 | 0:16:49
ALL: Thanks be to God. | 0:16:49 | 0:16:54

A reading from the letter
of St Paul to Titus. | 0:19:17 | 0:19:23
God's grace has been revealed,
and it has made salvation possible | 0:19:23 | 0:19:29
for the whole human race and taught
us that what we have to do | 0:19:30 | 0:19:37
is to give up everything that
does not lead to God, | 0:19:37 | 0:19:42
and all our worldly ambitions
We must be self-restrained and live | 0:19:42 | 0:19:47
good and religious lives
here in this present world, | 0:19:47 | 0:19:55
while we are waiting in hope
for the blessing which will come | 0:19:55 | 0:20:00
with the appearing of
the glory of our great God | 0:20:00 | 0:20:02
and saviour Christ Jesus. | 0:20:02 | 0:20:09
He sacrificed himself for us
in order to set us free | 0:20:09 | 0:20:11
from all wickedness and to purify
a people so that it could be his | 0:20:11 | 0:20:15
very own and would have no
ambition except to do good. | 0:20:15 | 0:20:25

A reading from the Holy Gospel
according to Luke. | 0:22:34 | 0:22:37
ALL: Glory to you, O Lord. | 0:22:37 | 0:22:40
Caesar Augustus issued
a decree for a census | 0:22:59 | 0:23:03
of the whole world to be taken. | 0:23:03 | 0:23:07
This census - the first - took
place while Quirinius | 0:23:08 | 0:23:11
was governor of Syria,
and everyone went to his own | 0:23:11 | 0:23:14
town to be registered. | 0:23:14 | 0:23:17
So Joseph set out from the town
of Nazareth in Galilee | 0:23:19 | 0:23:23
and travelled up to Judaea,
to the town of David | 0:23:23 | 0:23:27
called Bethlehem, since
he was of David's House and line, | 0:23:27 | 0:23:33
in order to be registered together
with Mary, his betrothed, | 0:23:33 | 0:23:36
who was with child. | 0:23:36 | 0:23:40
While they were there the time came
for her to have her child, | 0:23:40 | 0:23:45
and she gave birth to
a son, her first born. | 0:23:45 | 0:23:49
She wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger | 0:23:49 | 0:23:54
because there was no room for them
at the inn. | 0:23:54 | 0:24:01
In the countryside close
by there were shepherds who lived | 0:24:01 | 0:24:03
in the fields and took it in turns
to watch their flocks | 0:24:03 | 0:24:06
during the night. | 0:24:06 | 0:24:10
The Angel of the Lord appeared
to them and the glory | 0:24:10 | 0:24:13
of the Lord shone round them. | 0:24:13 | 0:24:17
They were terrified,
but the angel said, | 0:24:17 | 0:24:21
"Do not be afraid. | 0:24:21 | 0:24:27
Listen, I bring you news of great
joy, a joy to be shared | 0:24:27 | 0:24:30
by the whole people. | 0:24:30 | 0:24:40
Today, in the town of David,
a saviour has been born to you, | 0:24:40 | 0:24:43
he is Christ the Lord. | 0:24:43 | 0:24:45
And here is a sign for you:
you will find a baby wrapped | 0:24:45 | 0:24:48
in swaddling clothes
and lying in a manger. | 0:24:48 | 0:24:51
And suddenly with the angel
there was a great throng | 0:24:51 | 0:24:56
of the heavenly host,
praising God and singing: | 0:24:56 | 0:25:03
"Glory to God in the highest
heaven, and peace to men | 0:25:03 | 0:25:06
who enjoy his favour". | 0:25:06 | 0:25:08
The Gospel of the Lord. | 0:25:08 | 0:25:11
ALL: Praise to you,
Lord Jesus Christ. | 0:25:11 | 0:25:13
# Alleluia! | 0:25:20 | 0:25:22
# Alleluia! | 0:25:22 | 0:25:24
# Alleluia! | 0:25:25 | 0:25:32
"The people that walked in darkness
has seen a great light. | 0:26:37 | 0:26:42
"On those who live in a land of deep
shadow a light has shone." | 0:26:42 | 0:26:47
Those words at the beginning
of the First Reading | 0:26:52 | 0:26:56
from the Prophet Isaiah set
the scene for our gathering | 0:26:56 | 0:26:59
in the darkness of this night
to celebrate the birth | 0:26:59 | 0:27:02
of Jesus Christ. | 0:27:02 | 0:27:10
"A people that walked in darkness,
who live in a land of deep shadow." | 0:27:10 | 0:27:16
When we hear those words,
we imagine a people who are trying | 0:27:20 | 0:27:26
to find their way, to understand why
and where they are. | 0:27:26 | 0:27:33
The "darkness" restrains
the ability to move freely. | 0:27:33 | 0:27:42
The "deep shadow"
oppresses the spirit. | 0:27:42 | 0:27:50
For anyone who has walked
in that kind of darkness, | 0:27:53 | 0:27:58
there is an experience
of helplessness, | 0:27:58 | 0:28:01
of not being in control. | 0:28:01 | 0:28:04
The door of life can feel locked,
shut closed, a door which can only | 0:28:06 | 0:28:10
be opened from the outside. | 0:28:10 | 0:28:18
They can only hope that someone
from outside that "land of deep | 0:28:18 | 0:28:21
shadow" will open the door,
free them and bring | 0:28:21 | 0:28:23
them into the light. | 0:28:23 | 0:28:27
Those who are seriously ill
or housebound understand this. | 0:28:33 | 0:28:40
Those trapped in poverty
or destitution understand this. | 0:28:40 | 0:28:45
Those afflicted by conflict
and war understand this. | 0:28:47 | 0:28:53
Prisoners understand this. | 0:28:56 | 0:28:59
Migrants and refugees understand
this. Christians persecuted for | 0:29:04 | 0:29:16
their faith, all of those persecuted
for their faith understand this. | 0:29:16 | 0:29:21
Those burdened by sickness,
depression or mental | 0:29:21 | 0:29:23
illness understand this,
and those oppressed by their own | 0:29:23 | 0:29:25
sinfulness understand this. | 0:29:25 | 0:29:32
When we experience darkness in our
lives, whatever form it may take, | 0:29:35 | 0:29:41
we might think that the story
of Christmas is a long way | 0:29:41 | 0:29:50
from the reality of
what is happening to us. | 0:29:50 | 0:29:56
A long way from that darkness and
deep shadow. | 0:29:56 | 0:30:00
Yet it is in that "land of deep
shadow" that the story | 0:30:00 | 0:30:03
of Christmas becomes,
in a very real sense, | 0:30:03 | 0:30:08
news of great joy -
a light in the darkness. | 0:30:08 | 0:30:12
Christmas reminds us
that the "land of deep shadow" | 0:30:13 | 0:30:19
is a place in which none of us
is meant to live. | 0:30:19 | 0:30:30
Christmas reminds us that the life
of each and every one | 0:30:30 | 0:30:33
of us has infinite value
and is precious to God. | 0:30:33 | 0:30:42
Christmas tells us that it is for
this reason that God came | 0:30:42 | 0:30:45
into our world as a person,
in human flesh, to rescue us | 0:30:45 | 0:30:53
from that place of darkness
and assure us we are not alone. | 0:30:53 | 0:31:01
For the prophet Isaiah, God's coming
is like a "great light". | 0:31:02 | 0:31:08
It is a "child born for us,
a son given to us, and dominion | 0:31:08 | 0:31:13
is laid upon his shoulders." | 0:31:13 | 0:31:17
That child is a gift from God,
the gift of His Son, God-with-us, | 0:31:18 | 0:31:26
God present among his people. | 0:31:26 | 0:31:30
In the reading from St Luke's
Gospel, we heard how God comes first | 0:31:32 | 0:31:36
and foremost to the poorest among
us, to those who are suffering | 0:31:36 | 0:31:46
That is symbolised by the shepherds,
some of the lowliest time in society | 0:31:53 | 0:31:57
at the time of our Lord. | 0:31:57 | 0:32:02
He comes to those who are suffering | 0:32:02 | 0:32:05
or feel oppressed, to those who walk
in darkness and live in a "land | 0:32:05 | 0:32:08
of deep shadow", to those whose
spirit is brought so low that | 0:32:08 | 0:32:11
at times they are unable to see any
purpose or meaning | 0:32:11 | 0:32:13
to their life at all. | 0:32:13 | 0:32:21
Why is this bishop going on about
darkness and deep shadow, you may | 0:32:21 | 0:32:25
ask, in this season of Christmas
joy? | 0:32:25 | 0:32:29 | |
Perhaps there are some
of you here in this cathedral | 0:32:29 | 0:32:33
or sharing in this Mass
on television at home tonight | 0:32:33 | 0:32:37
who are in some way or other
experiencing that poverty | 0:32:37 | 0:32:41
or oppression of spirit
in your own lives right now. | 0:32:41 | 0:32:51
In fact, I dared to say that all of
us, at some point in our lives, have | 0:32:53 | 0:32:59
gone through something of that
darkness and deep shadow. | 0:32:59 | 0:33:04
If so, then I ask you to
hear again the message | 0:33:04 | 0:33:07
of the angels to the shepherds
in the Gospel: "Do not be afraid. | 0:33:07 | 0:33:12
Do not be afraid. | 0:33:17 | 0:33:19
"Listen, I bring you
news of great joy. | 0:33:19 | 0:33:21
"Today in the town of David,
a saviour has been born to you. | 0:33:21 | 0:33:25
"He is Christ the Lord. | 0:33:25 | 0:33:28
"And here is a sign for you:
you will find a baby wrapped | 0:33:28 | 0:33:32
"in swaddling clothes and lying
in a manger." | 0:33:32 | 0:33:36
This is a message for all of us -
a message of joy to be shared | 0:33:38 | 0:33:42
by the whole people. | 0:33:42 | 0:33:47
Jesus Christ wishes to share our
life, to live with us, | 0:33:47 | 0:33:51
wishes to be close to us and bring
the light of His love into any | 0:33:51 | 0:33:56
darkness which is in our lives. | 0:33:56 | 0:34:01
So, do not be afraid! | 0:34:01 | 0:34:05
In the times of darkness
in your life, in those | 0:34:07 | 0:34:12
places of deep shadow,
do not be afraid. | 0:34:12 | 0:34:16
The light and good news
of the Christmas message is that God | 0:34:17 | 0:34:21
desires to be close to us,
so close to us that He sent His only | 0:34:21 | 0:34:27
Son, Jesus Christ, to be our light
in darkness and our companion | 0:34:27 | 0:34:33
on the journey of life. | 0:34:33 | 0:34:37
The Creator and Lord of All became
a little one, so that we might | 0:34:39 | 0:34:45
experience our own dignity and great
worth in His eyes. | 0:34:45 | 0:34:50
The birth of Christ,
in humility and weakness as a baby, | 0:34:52 | 0:34:56
was the sign that God
seeks our love, not our fear. | 0:34:56 | 0:35:03
So, if you feel oppressed in spirit,
if you have any darkness | 0:35:03 | 0:35:07
in your life, do not be afraid. | 0:35:07 | 0:35:11
Go now in your mind
and heart to the crib. | 0:35:13 | 0:35:23
Just blessed at the beginning of
this Mass. | 0:35:25 | 0:35:27
See the child with His arms
stretched out towards you. | 0:35:27 | 0:35:31
On the altar, see him later as man,
a poor man, as someone | 0:35:31 | 0:35:35
oppressed by others,
with his arms outstretched | 0:35:35 | 0:35:38
on the wood of the cross for you. | 0:35:38 | 0:35:44
Look and see His love burning
for you and know that He desires | 0:35:44 | 0:35:47
only your love for Him. | 0:35:47 | 0:35:51
However unworthy you may
think yourself to be, | 0:35:51 | 0:35:57
or whatever darkness may oppress
you, do not be afraid! | 0:35:57 | 0:36:07
Let us not be afraid. | 0:36:07 | 0:36:13
Let us open the door of your hearts
and ask Him to come into your life. | 0:36:13 | 0:36:17
For we are loved and
precious in His eyes. | 0:36:17 | 0:36:22
He has been born for us. | 0:36:22 | 0:36:25
May Our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ find a welcome home | 0:36:25 | 0:36:29
in your hearts this Christmas
and may His love bring light and joy | 0:36:29 | 0:36:33
into your life and into the lives
of your families and all those | 0:36:33 | 0:36:38
who are dear to you. | 0:36:38 | 0:36:41
Amen. | 0:36:41 | 0:36:42 | |
Amen. | 0:36:46 | 0:36:48 | |
Brothers and Sisters,

has been given to us. | 0:42:01 | 0:42:10

to pray with us now as we say... | 0:45:08 | 0:45:10
Hail Mary, full of grace,

that my sacrifice and yours may be | 0:51:49 | 0:51:54
acceptable to God,
the Almighty Father. | 0:51:54 | 0:51:57
ALL: May the Lord accept
the sacrifice at your hands | 0:51:59 | 0:52:02
for the praise and glory
of his name, for our good | 0:52:02 | 0:52:04
and the good of all his holy Church. | 0:52:04 | 0:52:06
May the oblation of this day's feast
be pleasing to you, O Lord, | 0:52:13 | 0:52:16
we pray, that through this most holy

always and everywhere to give
you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, | 0:53:12 | 0:53:19
# Almighty and eternal God. | 0:53:19 | 0:53:21
# For in the mystery
of the Word made flesh | 0:53:25 | 0:53:35
A new light of your glory has | 0:53:35 | 0:53:39
shone upon the eyes of our mind,
so that, as we recognise | 0:53:39 | 0:53:44
in him God made visible,
we may be caught up through him | 0:53:44 | 0:53:47
in love of things invisible. | 0:53:47 | 0:53:54

To you, therefore, most merciful
Father, we make humble prayer | 0:56:47 | 0:56:51
and petition through Jesus Christ,
your Son, our Lord: that you accept | 0:56:51 | 0:56:58
and bless these gifts,
these offerings, these holy | 0:56:58 | 0:57:05
and unblemished sacrifices,
which we offer you firstly | 0:57:05 | 0:57:08
for your holy Catholic Church. | 0:57:08 | 0:57:11
Be pleased to grant her peace,
to guard, unite and govern her | 0:57:11 | 0:57:14
throughout the whole world,
together with your servant. | 0:57:14 | 0:57:21
Francis our Pope and me
your unworthy servant, | 0:57:21 | 0:57:23
and all those who, holding
to the truth, hand on the catholic | 0:57:23 | 0:57:26
and apostolic faith. | 0:57:26 | 0:57:31
Remember, Lord, your servants | 0:57:31 | 0:57:37
and all gathered here, whose faith
and devotion are known to you. | 0:57:37 | 0:57:46
For them, we offer
you this sacrifice of | 0:57:46 | 0:57:48
praise, or they offer
it | 0:57:48 | 0:57:49 | |
for themselves and all who are dear
to them: for the redemption | 0:57:49 | 0:57:52
of their souls, | 0:57:52 | 0:57:54
in hope of health and well-being,
and paying their homage to you, | 0:57:54 | 0:57:57
the eternal God, living and true. | 0:57:57 | 0:58:03
Celebrating the most sacred night
on which blessed Mary the | 0:58:03 | 0:58:05
immaculate Virgin brought forth
the Saviour for this world, and in | 0:58:05 | 0:58:09
Communion with those whose memory
we venerate, especially | 0:58:09 | 0:58:13
the glorious ever-Virgin Mary,
Mother of our God and Lord, Jesus | 0:58:13 | 0:58:16
Christ, and blessed
Joseph, her Spouse, | 0:58:16 | 0:58:21
your blessed Apostles and Martyrs,
Peter and Paul, Andrew, | 0:58:21 | 0:58:24
James, John, Thomas,
James, Philip, Bartholomew, | 0:58:24 | 0:58:29
Matthew, Simon and Jude,
Linus, Cletus, Clement, | 0:58:29 | 0:58:34
Sixtus, Cornelius, Cyprian,
Lawrence, Chrysogonus, | 0:58:34 | 0:58:39
John and Paul, Cosmas and Damian,
and all your Saints, we ask that | 0:58:39 | 0:58:43
through their merits and prayers,
in all things we may be defended | 0:58:43 | 0:58:46
by your protecting help. | 0:58:46 | 0:58:56
Therefore, Lord, we pray:
graciously accept this oblation of | 0:58:56 | 0:58:59
our service, that of your whole
family, order our days in your | 0:58:59 | 0:59:03
peace, and command that we be
delivered from eternal damnation | 0:59:03 | 0:59:08
and counted among the flock
of those you have chosen. | 0:59:08 | 0:59:13
Be pleased, O God, we pray,
to bless, acknowledge, and approve | 0:59:13 | 0:59:19
this offering in every respect,
make it spiritual and acceptable, | 0:59:19 | 0:59:25
so that it may become for us
the Body and Blood of your most | 0:59:25 | 0:59:30
beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. | 0:59:30 | 0:59:35
On the day before he was to suffer, | 0:59:37 | 0:59:42
he took bread in his holy
and venerable hands, | 0:59:42 | 0:59:48
and with eyes raised
to heaven to you, O God, | 0:59:48 | 0:59:54
his Almighty Father,
giving you thanks, he said the | 0:59:54 | 0:59:56
blessing, broke the bread and gave
it to his disciples, saying: | 0:59:56 | 1:00:04
Take this, all of you,
and eat of it, for this is my body, | 1:00:04 | 1:00:14
which will be given up for you. | 1:00:16 | 1:00:25
In a similar way, when supper
was ended, he took this precious | 1:00:50 | 1:00:54
chalice in his holy and venerable
hands, and once more giving | 1:00:54 | 1:00:57
you thanks, he said the blessing
and gave the chalice | 1:00:57 | 1:01:00
to his disciples, saying, | 1:01:00 | 1:01:05
"Take this, all of you,
and drink from it, for this | 1:01:05 | 1:01:12
"is the chalice of my blood,
the blood of the new and eternal | 1:01:12 | 1:01:18
"covenant, which will be poured out
for you and for many | 1:01:18 | 1:01:24
"for the forgiveness of sins. | 1:01:24 | 1:01:29
"Do this in memory of me." | 1:01:29 | 1:01:35
BELL PEALS. | 1:01:43 | 1:01:45
# The mystery of faith | 1:01:59 | 1:02:03
ALL: # When we eat this Bread
and drink this Cup | 1:02:03 | 1:02:08
# We proclaim your Death | 1:02:08 | 1:02:11
# O Lord, until you come again. # | 1:02:11 | 1:02:19
Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate
the memorial of the blessed Passion, | 1:02:20 | 1:02:23
the Resurrection from the dead,
and the glorious Ascension | 1:02:23 | 1:02:30
into Heaven of Christ,
your Son, our Lord, we, | 1:02:30 | 1:02:32
your servants and your holy people,
offer to your glorious majesty | 1:02:32 | 1:02:37
from the gifts that you have given
us, this pure victim, this holy | 1:02:37 | 1:02:42
victim, this spotless victim,
the holy Bread of eternal life | 1:02:42 | 1:02:48
and the Chalice of
everlasting salvation. | 1:02:48 | 1:02:53
Be pleased to look upon these
offerings with a serene | 1:02:53 | 1:02:56
and kindly countenance,
and to accept them, as once | 1:02:56 | 1:03:00
you were pleased to accept the gifts
of your servant Abel the just, | 1:03:00 | 1:03:05
the sacrifice of Abraham,
our father in faith, | 1:03:05 | 1:03:09
and the offering of your high priest
Melchizedek, a holy sacrifice, | 1:03:09 | 1:03:19
a spotless victim. | 1:03:19 | 1:03:22
In humble prayer we ask you,
Almighty God: command | 1:03:22 | 1:03:24
that these gifts be borne
by the hands of your holy Angel | 1:03:24 | 1:03:27
to your altar on high in the sight
of your divine majesty, | 1:03:27 | 1:03:34
so that all of us, who through this
participation at the altar receive | 1:03:34 | 1:03:39
the most holy Body and Blood
of your Son, may be filled | 1:03:39 | 1:03:42
with every grace and heavenly
blessing Remember also, | 1:03:42 | 1:03:51
Remember also, | 1:03:51 | 1:03:55
Lord, your servants
who have gone before us | 1:03:55 | 1:03:57
with the sign of faith and rest
in the sleep of peace. | 1:03:57 | 1:04:01
Grant them, O Lord, we pray,
and all who sleep in Christ, | 1:04:01 | 1:04:08
a place of refreshment,
light and peace. | 1:04:08 | 1:04:12
To us, also, your servants,
who, though sinners, | 1:04:12 | 1:04:16
hope in your abundant mercies,
graciously grant some share | 1:04:16 | 1:04:20
and fellowship with your holy
Apostles and Martyrs: | 1:04:20 | 1:04:24
with John the Baptist,
Stephen, Matthias, Barnabas. | 1:04:24 | 1:04:28
Ignatius, Alexander,
Marcellinus, Peter, Felicity, | 1:04:28 | 1:04:35
Perpetua, Agatha, Lucy,
Agnes, Cecilia, Anastasia, | 1:04:35 | 1:04:40
and all your Saints,
admit us, we beseech you, | 1:04:40 | 1:04:45
into their company, not
weighing our merits, | 1:04:45 | 1:04:48
but granting us your pardon,
through Christ our Lord. | 1:04:48 | 1:04:52
Through whom you continue to make
all these good things, | 1:04:52 | 1:04:56
O Lord, you sanctify them,
fill them with life, bless them, | 1:04:56 | 1:05:00
and bestow them upon us. | 1:05:00 | 1:05:04
# Through him, and
with him, and in him | 1:05:07 | 1:05:12
# O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit | 1:05:12 | 1:05:20
# All glory and honour
is yours, for ever and ever | 1:05:20 | 1:05:28
ALL: # Amen. # | 1:05:29 | 1:05:34
At the Saviour's command
and formed by divine teaching, | 1:05:44 | 1:05:48
we dare to say: | 1:05:48 | 1:05:53
Our Father,
who art in heaven, | 1:05:53 | 1:05:54
hallowed be thy
name, | 1:05:54 | 1:05:58 | |
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth | 1:05:58 | 1:06:00
as it is in heaven. | 1:06:00 | 1:06:01
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, | 1:06:01 | 1:06:06
as we forgive those who trespass
against us, and lead us | 1:06:06 | 1:06:10
not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. | 1:06:10 | 1:06:14
Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
from every evil, graciously | 1:06:15 | 1:06:19
grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy, | 1:06:19 | 1:06:24
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress, | 1:06:24 | 1:06:27
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our | 1:06:27 | 1:06:31
Saviour, Jesus Christ. | 1:06:31 | 1:06:34
ALL: For the kingdom,
the power and the glory | 1:06:34 | 1:06:38
are yours now and for ever. | 1:06:38 | 1:06:40
Lord Jesus Christ,
who said to your Apostles: | 1:06:40 | 1:06:44
Peace I leave you, my peace I give
you, look not on our sins, | 1:06:44 | 1:06:51
but on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her peace and | 1:06:51 | 1:06:55
unity in accordance with your will | 1:06:55 | 1:06:59
who live and reign
for ever and ever. | 1:06:59 | 1:07:02
ALL: Amen. | 1:07:02 | 1:07:04
The peace of the Lord
be with you always. | 1:07:04 | 1:07:07
ALL: And with your spirit. | 1:07:07 | 1:07:10
Let us offer each other
the sign of peace. | 1:07:10 | 1:07:13
B with you -- peace be with you. | 1:07:19 | 1:07:36
