-Emyr, before we discuss Argrph,

-tell our loyal Ochr 1 viewers...

-about your musical background...

-..and the bands

-with which you've been involved.

-I'm still in a band called Tymbal.

-I play the drums,

-which is a bit different for me.

-I wanted to write my own stuff...

-..and do more

-than just the drumbeats.

-You are used to playing the drums

-but Argrph is your own project.

-What kind of sound are you looking

-for and what are your intentions?

-It started out

-as an experiment with demos.

-I wanted to see how much I could

-record myself and how it sounded.

-That's why it wasn't originally

-released under my name.

-The aim was to get

-a surf rock sound...

-..with some psychedelic stuff

-thrown in.

-Do you have

-any particular influences?

-In the Welsh scene, Sen Segur and

-Y Niwl have been huge influences.

-It's quite loose too, allowing you

-to play around with various sounds.

-Have you been recording

-your own stuff?

-Yes, over the past year,

-just in the house.

-Just trying out different things.

-If I liked it, I'd set it down.

-If not, it would go in the bin.

-The new single

-is on Ochr 1 this evening.

-You recorded it

-with Llyr of Jen Jeniro.

-He has been recording with many

-artists like Sen Segur and Palenco.

-Tell me a little about the song.

-This song

-was the first demo I recorded.

-It sounds very much like beach pop.

-I didn't like it

-but I liked what I could do with it.

-I knew that Llyr would know exactly

-what to add to it...

-..or what to take off it.

-It was a great experience

-for me to go up there...

-..and play with Geth and George,

-formerly of Sen Segur.

-Are you thinking of an EP

-or looking at making an album?

-I fancy an album because I already

-have a lot of stuff to put onto it.

-I think I'll just be trialling

-some singles over the next year...

-..before, hopefully, setting down

-an album sometime next summer.

-The Battle of the Bands has produced

-some very exciting artists...

-..and this year was no exception.

-A band from Pontypridd made its mark

-with some energetic punk rock.

-They've already released an EP and

-have featured on BBC Introducing.

-It's just like an opening shot.

-We are Chroma.

-That was shit.

-The Battle of the Bands was amazing.

-It has opened so many doors for us.

-Being able to perform...

-...at the Eisteddfod

-and at Maes B was incredible.

-We played on the Saturday night

-with Band Pres Llareggub.

-That was a highlight for us.

-They are superb.

-Your first experience of Maes B

-was when you played there!

-A great first experience.

-We all listen

-to different kinds of music.

-An amazing band

-called Marmozets...

-..are the biggest influence on us

-as a band.

-I listen to a lot of Biffy Clyro.

-I just live my life listening

-to Queens Of The Stone Age.

-And nothing else!

-All the time.

-We've recorded and released

-our first EP.

-It's on iTunes,

-Spotify and Google Play.

-We've just recorded a single...

-..and that will be coming out

-in the next month or so.

-We're looking to record a few more

-EPs and then, hopefully, an album.

-We wrote the new single

-after the referendum.

-It's our response to what happened

-as young people from the valleys.

-The best thing ever was a man asking

-"What has the EU ever done for us?"

-He was being interviewed

-outside a 1m EU building...

-..and I thought "Oh, my God".

-I like to write about

-a variety of topics...

-..but really about anything

-that pisses me off.

-It's a mixture of things that

-happen socially which piss me off...

-..and people who piss me off.

-You can't say that!

-It's Ochr 1,

-I can say whatever I like!

-Do you want to mention Casaiety...

-.."Hate you, society.

-Hate you. Hate society"?

-The whole thing.

-Casaiety is a song about...

-Do you want to explain it

-because you do a better job?

-It's the first song on the EP.

-We've played around with a pun.

-The chorus goes "I hate you".

-The song is called Casaiety.

-It sounds a bit like "society".

-Hate you, hate society.

-It merges into one word.

-We like to make up new words.

-We like to create new Welsh words.

-We should start our own language,

-Chrom-raeg.

-More cheesy but worth it.
