My Chemical Romance & Beady Eye Reading and Leeds Festival

Hello there and welcome back to BBC Three at Reading. We still have

loads more to come. Miles Kane or should I say the very well dressed

Miles Kane will be doing a live acoustic set for us soon. As well

as that we are going to be showing you a chunk of Beady Eye's set and

if you have questions for the boys get online. Now My Chemical Romance

are headlining tonight and Fearne is in the pit.

Earlier I met up with Gerard and Mikey ahead of one of the biggest

shows of their life, headlining at Reading for the first time. This

performance has been met with nerves and excitement so let's see

what happened when I chatted to My Chemical Romance earlier.

Mikey, Gerard, hello. Good to see you. Good to see you. Now, you have

performed at Reading before but this is your first time headlining,

any nerves ahead of this? Tonnes, yeah. I think I was more Moriarty

nervous, -- I think I was more nervous than I expected. I mean I

am less nervous now than I expected. It's this kind of excitement which

is really cool. Because it's a reality and it's happening

imminently. Yes. How did you feel when you first got asked? My mind

was blown. I remember getting the call and going wow, OK and then we

didn't really think about it, we just said yes. I saw you guys back

in the early 2 thousand playing a tiny venue, do you still think oh

my goodness we are headline ago huge festival? We think about those

days especially any time we do something like this and to us this

is the biggest, this is it. Something we may never get to do

again, you never know. Is it true these are some of your last shows

before you head back to the studio? We don't know if we are heading to

the studio straightaway, we are going back on tour after this and

when we finish that we are definitely considering putting

something together very quickly. For the UK this is sort of like a

little bit of a goodbye? Actually it is. Absolutely. What have you

got in store for the crowds later? There's a bunch of amazing

production things we have. Kind of a lot of things we haven't even

really seen but all worked on them together with the people and we

work with great people and we have designed this whole thing together

and the good thing about it we get to do our thing and they're going

to make this stuff blow up and stuff. We are going to be as

surprised as the people in the crowd because we haven't seen it

yet. I can't wait, it sounds brilliant. You are huge fans of

Pulp. You are going to miss these guys, it's different scheduling.

T in the Park it was tpeufbg. remember getting to see the Pulp

show I never got to see as a kid. Have a great show.

So we have been out on tour with Blink 182, I have been asking this

question, I think it makes sense, how many of you hout there is this

your first time seeing My Chemical Romance?

they're going to be very happy with that indeed. There was tight

leather, there were lasers, fire welcomes, there was Brian May on

stage, a lot of sweat. I became fixated at one point with the red

hair eye dripping down the ears slowly. But what a great

performance. Their first time headlining at Reading and it was

magical. They looked like they enjoyed it as well. This is Reading

and you got booked here and no-one knew your songs and that, and

about the first five songs. It was a great vibe. I think all day in

that tent has been a great vibe. They were rocking it. Looking good.

You've been touring with them as well, right? We did a few gig was

them. We were in Japan with them two weeks ago. We had a great night

great night that night in this little bar. It was a lot of fun.

2011. You've got one, right. We're joined fresh off the stage by

Beady Eye. Hello. Hello. You all right chaps. Maybe not so fresh.

Very fresh indeed. We played out quite a big chunk of your

performance earlier. Were you happy with how it meant? Yeah, man. The

crowd was good. A little bit of a leak on stage above mying head.

Halfway through the songs I had a drop on my head. Ti, was like Space

Invaders. There's something in the air this year. I was talking about

how amazing the crowd was - yeah rain! I've been talking about the

crowd. What is it about the crowd here that is so special. People

always talk about how amazing they are. Reading in general has a bit

more balls to it than a lot of other festivals. It's a bit more

rock-and-roll. A lot of the other ones are all a bit fancy dress. Do

they really want to be there or are they into music. This one seem to

be a lot into music. A lot of people celebrating doing their

exams, GCSEs out, having the best weekend of their lives as well.

Lots of Inbetweeners in the audience. Really bad hair cuts and

T-shirts I take it? It's the dance. The robot, it's the best. You guys,

your album did screamly -- extremely well, number three, were

you expecting that. Were you hoping it would be top ten? I was

expecting it to go to number one, but never mind. Three will do. It

was in the year of Adele and all that stuff. We're very happy with

it. I bought the Adele album, so I only have myself to blame really.

waited a week. Have you started thinking about the

second album yet. I heard rumours it was going to be released the end

of this year? Nah. I might have had too much coffee that day and I got

carried away with myself. It will definitely be out next year. That's

what we do, we make music, whether people like it or not. We'll go in

probably February and like to put it out in the summer. That's what

we're about, uplifting music. We don't want to be putting it out in

the winter. Have you started writing yet? No, but some songs are

written. Off the back of touring the first record, would you say

you've lrned anything that will impact the way you write the new

one? I don't know really. We knew this one was going to be our set.

This is all we have. I don't know whether that informed that. You

can't get all jigy with yourself because you know you are taking

that round the world. It will make a difference playing 100 gigs, you

know, because we hadn't done a single gig when we made the album.

Next one will be more like a real band, even more than this one.

this album, we just wanted to get back in the ring as soon as poss,

you know what I mean? I think we have. We're there. The next one,

you always want to make a better record than the last, whether we do

or not, I think we will definitely. We spoke to Miles Kane earlier on.

He played a wicked acoustic set for us. He's been supporting you guys

on tour. I believe you went to Tokyo. He's a good lad. Why did you

decide to have him as your support act? He looks good. Dapper. He's

into it man, into music. I think he's the only one out there as a

young guy, man, that looks cool and he's a good guitar player and has

good songs. He's a bit of a pop star in a good sense. On tour, it's

important the bands hang out. It's bad when you pick some people,

suddenly you come off and there's nobody there.

He said you had a good night out in Tokyo, right? Yeah we did.

the time on stage. He was doing a gig every two minutes. It was all

right. Nothing to shout home about, but all right. Unless it went right
