recorded me more than anybody else in the entire world - this one

person has recorded me more than anyone else ever. He's recording

this show tonight and tonight is his last night at the BBC, would

tell you a little story. So, I grew up in Virginia, right outside of

Washington, DC. I played in a punk rock band. We played in squats and

we starved and it was really, really fun and then one day this

friend of mine says, "Hey, you ever heard of that band Nivarna?" I am

like, "Yeah." He was like, they are looking for a drummer and they

think you are pretty good. I said, "really?" so, I flew up to Seattle

and they already had a drummer - this guy Danny. He was a locking

great drummer. He was in a band called. So the first day I hung out

with all the guys we were having a barbecue. I said to Danny, "What's

the biggest audience you have ever played to?" he said "35,000

people." I said where did Mud Honey play to 35,000 people? He said, oh

Oh, this place called the Reading festival - it's in England.

About a year later, we had recorded the record Never Mind. We were

coming over here to play some festivals.

I looked on my schedule and it said "Saturday - Reading festival."

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE I think we played like 2pm in the

afternoon or something like that. But I'd never been so scared in the

entire of my life. I had to play to 35,000 people - that was beyond my

wildest dreams. So, tonight, I think there's like a

fucking100,000 of you. Over the years, I have seen this

stage get taller and taller. I have seen the barrier get further and

further away. CROWD: Booing

BUT FROM RIGHT HERE, IT LOOKS THE For me, to be here tonight, with my

mother - you know in 1992 when Nivarna played here - the last show

we ever played in England - it was, I think the day before my mother's

birthday. Birthday is next week. So here's

the promotors told us, "Go on the big stage, there's too many people

first time we played England." It was the craziest show we have ever
