Good evening and welcome to the final stop of BBC Three's summer of

:00:15.:00:22.

festivals. We've done Big weekend. We've done T in the Park and

:00:23.:00:28.

Glastonbury and we've come to Reading. I love Reading. All the

:00:29.:00:32.

other festivals are great, but this is home to me. It is like you step

:00:33.:00:34.

on the grass and, I've arrived, is home to me. It is like you step

:00:35.:00:40.

at Reading. Look at this wonderful sight. The sun is setting on day one

:00:41.:00:46.

of Reading and people are excited. Everyone is quite fresh, they want

:00:47.:00:51.

to go and see stuff. By Sunday it is like, I want to go home. And

:00:52.:00:57.

everyone is excited. There's the train depot. Across the weekend we

:00:58.:01:03.

have Arctic Monkeys headlines, Blink-182, Paramore and Queens of

:01:04.:01:07.

the Stone Age as well. And this is what else you can expect in the next

:01:08.:01:21.

three That's a good weekend I would say.

:01:22.:02:03.

Yes. Summer is almost done, exams are done, GCSE results done,

:02:04.:02:07.

A-levels done. So many teenagers come here just to have that amazing

:02:08.:02:10.

final weekend of their summer. We are going bring you the best bits of

:02:11.:02:16.

it up until Sunday night. I've been coming here since I was 15 and I

:02:17.:02:20.

haven't stopped. Like likes three whole years! Hudson Taylor is coming

:02:21.:02:26.

up with an acoustic system. Paramore are in the Treehouse right now. How

:02:27.:02:33.

are you feeling? I feel sick. You love them. I love them so much.

:02:34.:02:38.

Paramore are going to be here for a chat in a second. First we are going

:02:39.:02:43.

to the Main Stage from earlier today. This is Deaf Havana.

:02:44.:03:14.

What seems like I miss my friends # End up feeling bad

:03:15.:03:28.

# You made sure I'm still live # Nobody but you

:03:29.:03:42.

# You make me feel this way # Nobody but you makes me feel

:03:43.:04:07.

# Centre between happy and OK # I'm somewhere between happy and OK

:04:08.:04:43.

# Yeah, nobody but you. #Can make me feel this old at 22.

:04:44.:04:49.

Yeah, nobody but you. # Can make me feel this old at 22.

:04:50.:05:41.

# Yeah, nobody but you. # Can make me feel this old at 22.

:05:42.:05:50.

# I know you met the devil once when you were young

:05:51.:06:50.

# You let him in just enough to push you out

:06:51.:06:56.

# You managed 21 years before he talked you round to giving up# We

:06:57.:06:59.

traded knowledge in our fields of expertise.

:07:00.:07:07.

# We parted ways and you gave up on everything

:07:08.:07:15.

# You think it's too hard to leave now?

:07:16.:07:17.

# You always were such a stubborn kid back then

:07:18.:07:25.

# In the room where we spent our days

:07:26.:07:32.

# I remember you told me you threw your father's Jimmy Nail CD

:07:33.:07:36.

# Because I know when you got home

:07:37.:07:48.

# You bent your spine over the back of a kitchen chair

:07:49.:07:54.

# I thought I saw your reflection in the window of a passing car # But

:07:55.:08:44.

# I thought I saw your reflection in the window of a passing car

:08:45.:08:52.

# Because I know when you got home

:08:53.:09:35.

# You bent your spine over the back of a kitchen chair

:09:36.:09:58.

bit of music from the Main Stage. Jen, how excited are you? Pretty

:09:59.:10:03.

excited. We have some guests in the Treehouse I would like to welcome,

:10:04.:10:12.

Paramore! Welcome! Applaud. They're the headliners! As first

:10:13.:10:14.

Paramore! Welcome! Applaud. They're you are not a bad guest for us.

:10:15.:10:19.

Welcome you are not a bad guest for us.

:10:20.:10:25.

your fourth Reading? Yes. It is. It is crazy.

:10:26.:10:32.

your fourth Reading? Yes. It is. It little strange to be at the top. A

:10:33.:10:34.

your fourth Reading? Yes. It is. It little nervous, but we are going to

:10:35.:10:37.

do it right. And sharing the headline spot with Queens of the

:10:38.:10:41.

Stone Age must feel incredible to be up there. Nerves. I'm going to throw

:10:42.:10:49.

up. Are you big Queens fans? Queens of the Stone Age. Seriously, to be

:10:50.:10:54.

on this stage for us is cool. It is different music from what we are

:10:55.:10:59.

part of normally, but to be sandwiched between Vampire Weekend

:11:00.:11:05.

and Queens of Stone Age is really cool. You're music fans and music

:11:06.:11:10.

lovers. Who else on the line-up did you want to see today? The only band

:11:11.:11:16.

I saw today, we rolled up a little bit late today. Tomorrow we'll see

:11:17.:11:20.

more bands. My sister came with me. This is her first trip to England.

:11:21.:11:31.

Our band we grew up listening to is Jimmy Eat World. And Warpaint. They

:11:32.:11:37.

are on tomorrow. The UK loves you as well. This is the only UK date for

:11:38.:11:43.

Paramore this year isn't it? This is the place to see you. We are

:11:44.:11:48.

embarrassed, sorry. Reading and Leeds should feel privileged. You

:11:49.:11:54.

came over here and did the tour when the album first came out and now

:11:55.:11:58.

you've come back especially from the United States. In the middle of the

:11:59.:12:04.

tour. It was like, OK, pause that tour, we've got to go to Reading and

:12:05.:12:08.

Leeds. This is an iconic festival, the one that everyone knows and

:12:09.:12:11.

talks about. What makes it so special? Is it the legacy, is it the

:12:12.:12:18.

bands they keep putting ro on? Definitely the legacy, for sure.

:12:19.:12:23.

Last time we played this was when we played with The Cure. It is a great

:12:24.:12:29.

festival to be a part of. Like I said before, for us to have been

:12:30.:12:33.

able to start small and grow here is a huge deal for us. Tonight it is

:12:34.:12:38.

sort of in a weird way for us playing a show in England it is a

:12:39.:12:42.

homecoming and we get to celebrate the time we've spent here and the

:12:43.:12:47.

fans that have come out almost for the last ten years, and play a

:12:48.:12:51.

massive show. That's why people love Reading and Leeds, because bands

:12:52.:12:55.

realise how big a deal it is and they play a show that's worthy of

:12:56.:13:01.

it. Do you get daunted at the prospect of headlining? What are you

:13:02.:13:04.

going to add to your show tonight to take it to that headlining level? We

:13:05.:13:10.

brought a tonne of production. More than we've ever been able to bring,

:13:11.:13:16.

so we got tonnes of stuff. Keep it quiet on the confetti but we are

:13:17.:13:21.

going to blow everyone away with confetti. We want to make it an

:13:22.:13:25.

experience for the fans as well out there in the crowd and even far back

:13:26.:13:30.

in the crowd. We are going to try to involve as many people as possible,

:13:31.:13:34.

and there's a tonne of people here. It will be a lot of confetti and

:13:35.:13:39.

lights. You said last time you played here, in 2012, you were

:13:40.:13:44.

nervous. Yes. You've toured this album from a year or 18 months,

:13:45.:13:49.

something crazy like that. We are at two years almost at promoting this

:13:50.:13:53.

record and having finished the album. I think we finish the album

:13:54.:14:00.

in October of 2012. It's been a very long cycle but I don't think the

:14:01.:14:04.

nerves have gone away, to be honest with you. Tonight is going to be so

:14:05.:14:11.

cool for us as music fans. As a part of Paramore, which we've been

:14:12.:14:15.

building and growing. This is our life. This is our life's situation.

:14:16.:14:20.

We've made this for the past ten years. Yeah, I'm really nervous. I

:14:21.:14:26.

don't want to screw up tonight. You won't. You won't. I want to find out

:14:27.:14:31.

what makes a band work for such a long period of time. How do you all

:14:32.:14:36.

keep from punching each other and keeping well? Obviously you like

:14:37.:14:41.

each other and like making music. What's the secret of your band? If

:14:42.:14:46.

there was a secret I'm sure a lot of bands would still be together. Are

:14:47.:14:50.

you sure you are asking the right band this question! We stay

:14:51.:14:55.

grounded. We all know none of us are special. We all started off from the

:14:56.:15:00.

same place, so us keeping each other grounded and having the same goals.

:15:01.:15:05.

Even for how important our fan base is. To some other bans that's not

:15:06.:15:09.

necessarily important, and that's their whole thing. Whatever our

:15:10.:15:15.

goals are, we are in unison. Having that and just being friends and

:15:16.:15:19.

making sure that your friendship is more important than the job part of

:15:20.:15:24.

it. It's pretty similar to taking care of a normal friendship,

:15:25.:15:31.

exceptor for you might have to find a -- except you might have to find

:15:32.:15:36.

more space. It's the opposite. To me when a band is fighting, that's a

:15:37.:15:40.

healthy band. It is like what they say about relationships. If you are

:15:41.:15:44.

not communicating and fighting it out, you are not billion yourselves.

:15:45.:15:50.

We've had, you are not being yourselves. We've had to learn that

:15:51.:15:54.

the hard way. You are going to smash it tonight. I cannot wait. Thank you

:15:55.:16:00.

so much Paramore. Thank you. We are going to see some Drenge from

:16:01.:16:03.

earlier, with some flashing lights. # Wanna give up and don't know why

:16:04.:16:21.

# It is # I've never seen blood or milk look

:16:22.:16:45.

so divine # Never seen so much beauty in my

:22:25.:23:24.

didn't want it. I'll take the next bit. Out sit quietly on your own and

:23:25.:23:31.

take a moment. So, two boys from Dublin, they make up Hudson Taylor.

:23:32.:23:40.

They announced their debut album is Single for Strangers. This is their

:23:41.:23:44.

debut performance. This is Hudson Taylor.

:23:45.:24:00.

# You raise the flag, I'll tear it down

:25:06.:25:17.

# Though you may have won the battle # But I'll take the fight to you

:25:18.:25:21.

:26:54.:26:57.

# Only time will tell if we're all just cynics on the run

:26:58.:27:03.

:27:04.:27:25.

Not too nerve-racking? Snow no, it was good. Two years ago to the day

:27:26.:27:30.

best eel did their first ever TV in here and look what happened to them.

:27:31.:27:38.

They became stars. So you are on stage today? We had a great crowd.

:27:39.:27:42.

Couldn't believe it. Our first time here. Had a great day. There's lots

:27:43.:27:47.

of stuff you can download from wherever you get your music from,

:27:48.:27:53.

from Hudson Taylor. Their album comes out in February time. Thank

:27:54.:28:00.

you. Thank you for having us. CHEERING ??LINEBR OK. Let's have

:28:01.:28:06.

some Mallory Knox now shall we? Yes. With some flashing lights I think.

:28:07.:29:20.

# Without you, without you # Full throttle, full speed ahead

:29:21.:29:33.

# Only you and I could try # Just try

:29:34.:30:10.

# Full throttle, full speed ahead # My head has had a heart attack

:30:11.:30:23.

# Full throttle, full speed ahead # Without, without you

:30:24.:30:35.

# Just try, just try # Reading make some noise!

:30:36.:31:23.

# Hold your heavy head. Full throttle, full speed ahead.

:31:24.:31:40.

# In my head have a heart attack without you.

:31:41.:31:50.

# It is only you and I. # Just try, just try.

:31:51.:31:59.

That was Mallory Knox from earlier on today. You've had quite the day

:32:00.:32:04.

haven't you? I have! It's been a roller coaster of emotions. Let me

:32:05.:32:10.

try and explain. Paramore, Hayley Williams is one of your obsessions.

:32:11.:32:16.

try and explain. Paramore, Hayley Just for Paramore, I love Paramore.

:32:17.:32:21.

And My Chemical Romance, but unfortunately they split up a couple

:32:22.:32:27.

of years ago. But now Gerrard is playing two tiny shows, one in LA

:32:28.:32:33.

and one last night in Portsmouth. So you got some exclusive time with

:32:34.:32:38.

you? He did his great solo proper performance at Reading this morning.

:32:39.:32:42.

He picked Reading and I had a chat with him. I chatted to some fans and

:32:43.:32:48.

found out what was going on, and I got a little overemotional. I think

:32:49.:32:53.

we should watch that right now. It is the first day here at Reading.

:32:54.:32:56.

Behind me several hundred people are is the first day here at Reading.

:32:57.:33:06.

queuing up to watch Gerrard. Everyone is running. We saw some

:33:07.:33:11.

girl nearly dropping all her bags trying to get there in time.

:33:12.:33:14.

girl nearly dropping all her bags is panic in their eyes that they

:33:15.:33:18.

might miss one second of Gerrard Wade. I'm really excited. We've come

:33:19.:33:21.

to see Gerrard Wade. Red Hair is Wade. I'm really excited. We've come

:33:22.:33:32.

always a winner. I don't think I've ever seen this many people in a

:33:33.:33:37.

crowd at a festival before midday before.

:33:38.:33:46.

CHEERING I love you! I thought the gig was

:33:47.:33:57.

incredible. Totally worth getting up for really early. Worth blagging it

:33:58.:34:03.

for. It is so much different from before with all the black hair and

:34:04.:34:09.

gothic look. Now it is a simple red tie. He is still a punk look. You

:34:10.:34:15.

gothic look. Now it is a simple red could tell it was still Gerrard, but

:34:16.:34:19.

later in the set it did get more Britpopy. There were no my chemical

:34:20.:34:28.

romance songs. Why but pick Reading Festival for the location of the

:34:29.:34:32.

debut show? Really? I have a long history with the festival, but it

:34:33.:34:37.

kinda came down to I needed a finish line. I needed a deadline. If we

:34:38.:34:43.

didn't just do it, the craziest biggest show that we could, I would

:34:44.:34:48.

have spent too much time waiting to get ready, or when's the record

:34:49.:34:53.

coming out? Booking Reading forced everything. How have you felt that

:34:54.:34:58.

the fans have reacted to it on stage. It is different from what you

:34:59.:35:02.

did before. It is different. They reacted amazingly. It was a lot of

:35:03.:35:07.

love. The looks that I saw and the energy I felt, they were happy I was

:35:08.:35:11.

back on stage. That's a nice feeling. I'm glad you got some good

:35:12.:35:20.

time with him. I did. That chat was a lot longer. We had a chat about

:35:21.:35:26.

the Pixies. That was cut. I was proud of that interview. We'll put

:35:27.:35:32.

it on USB for you later. I thought we were friends. You are friends

:35:33.:35:37.

with Paramore and with Gerrard Wade. Let's see Gerrard's set from earlier

:35:38.:35:38.

today. This is us new single, No # Stay free, free, free

:35:39.:37:08.

# Don't wanna go # Cos we don't need no show. We

:37:09.:37:19.

don't need no show. We don't need # She is sweet as battery. Man, I

:37:20.:38:38.

have got nothing. # You kiss an enemy's hands, I got nothing. We got

:38:39.:38:44.

an animal band and that is something.

:38:45.:39:05.

I could somebody. You could be beautiful, too.

:39:06.:39:55.

performance Gerrard Way earlier today, opening the festival. If you

:39:56.:39:59.

want to see the whole of Gerrard's set you can on the Red Button from

:40:00.:40:06.

10.00pm. We have another acoustic performance in the Treehouse. This

:40:07.:40:10.

chap here is responsible for my favourite song of the summer, no

:40:11.:40:15.

question. So, debut in the BBC Three Treehouse, this is the wonderful

Bipolar Sunshine. # Let's take a ride, let's get

:44:52.:44:56.

that song. It is basically sex music. That's what it's talking
