This week, I'm in West Sussex for a fusion of festival and faith. | 0:00:02 | 0:00:05
The bands are warming up, | 0:00:05 | 0:00:07
everyone's preparing for the crowds that are going to descend | 0:00:07 | 0:00:10
on this area very shortly because it is | 0:00:10 | 0:00:13
the biggest Christian gathering in Europe. | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
This is the Big Church Day Out. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:17
I'm going to be backstage, onstage and in amongst the crowd here, | 0:00:21 | 0:00:25
to capture the atmosphere of this giant family get-together | 0:00:25 | 0:00:28
of Christians from across the UK. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
I'm also going to be enjoying the music | 0:00:31 | 0:00:34
and company of some of the biggest names in global Christian music. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:38
And from festival to festive, later in the programme, | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
I'll be joining our art experts to decide the ten winners | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
of our Christmas card competition in aid of BBC Children In Need. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:51
-I like that! -Yes, I like that. -Yeah, I like that! | 0:00:51 | 0:00:54
And to mark the Queen's official 90th birthday, | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
Pam celebrates with 90 of Her Majesty's peers in Gloucestershire. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:03
Well, as the first performers here prepare to take to the stage, | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
it's time for our opening hymn. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:17
And just to prove that festivals are nothing new, | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
this iconic tune was commissioned for a Baptist festival | 0:01:20 | 0:01:23
of song in South Wales over a century ago. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:26
And legend has it that its composer, John Hughes, | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
wrote the score using chalk and a tarpaulin. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:33
ELECTRONIC MUSIC PLAYS | 0:04:28 | 0:04:32
Big Church Day Out is in its eighth year. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:37
It's the brainchild of Tim Jupp from the '90s band Delirious. | 0:04:37 | 0:04:42
It's overwhelming every year to see so many people turn up. | 0:04:43 | 0:04:46
I think people just love being together. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:48
We often hear a story about the church being in decline | 0:04:48 | 0:04:51
and it feels like sometimes it's almost on its last legs. | 0:04:51 | 0:04:55
And I think, you know, there is a different story to tell | 0:04:55 | 0:04:58
because the church is very much alive. | 0:04:58 | 0:05:02
I usually find it really encouraging to see this many people | 0:05:02 | 0:05:05
in one place, all here for the same purpose, | 0:05:05 | 0:05:07
and that's to worship our Lord. | 0:05:07 | 0:05:09
There's just so many types of different people here. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:15
We're all getting on the same page. | 0:05:15 | 0:05:17
Different ages, you know, different people, groups, | 0:05:17 | 0:05:19
different streams of the church, different expressions of the church, | 0:05:19 | 0:05:22
-but we're all gathering in this one place in the thousands... -Uh-huh. | 0:05:22 | 0:05:26
..and we're becoming a big choir together. I love it. | 0:05:26 | 0:05:28
DRUMS PLAY UPBEAT RHYTHM | 0:05:28 | 0:05:34
I've met someone with an even better laugh than me. | 0:05:34 | 0:05:36
HE LAUGHS It's Andy! | 0:05:36 | 0:05:39
Andy, what is it you're doing here? | 0:05:39 | 0:05:40
Well, essentially, we are worshipping here. | 0:05:40 | 0:05:43
That's the main thing we're doing. | 0:05:43 | 0:05:45
You're praying, you're in the midst of people. | 0:05:45 | 0:05:48
-The drums are like a prayer and the flags are a declaration. -Mm-hm. | 0:05:48 | 0:05:53
A declaration of God's goodness, so... | 0:05:53 | 0:05:56
-It's not a bad way to spend your day, is it? -It's fantastic! | 0:05:56 | 0:05:59
This stunning tree has been turned into a prayer tree this weekend. | 0:06:04 | 0:06:09
It's always a lovely moment, isn't it, to just pause and reflect | 0:06:09 | 0:06:13
on things in and amongst all the fun that's going on here? | 0:06:13 | 0:06:17
I think it's just amazing to see what God's up to in the church | 0:06:17 | 0:06:21
today and, I think, to be part of that is always a humbling thing. | 0:06:21 | 0:06:26
It's a privilege to be in the mix of what's going on. | 0:06:26 | 0:06:30
And so, we love the music, we love the bands, | 0:06:31 | 0:06:33
but more than anything, we love the worship that goes on here. | 0:06:33 | 0:06:37
# Who breaks the power of sin and darkness? | 0:06:39 | 0:06:44
# Whose love is mighty and so much stronger? | 0:06:44 | 0:06:49
# The King of Glory The King above all kings | 0:06:49 | 0:06:54
# Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder? | 0:06:59 | 0:07:04

That was American singer-songwriter, Phil Wickham, | 0:09:13 | 0:09:16
performing on the festival Main Stage. | 0:09:16 | 0:09:18
Big Church Day Out has something for everyone - young, not so young, | 0:09:19 | 0:09:23
music lovers and families - they are all here. | 0:09:23 | 0:09:27
But recently, Pam was invited to a church celebration | 0:09:27 | 0:09:30
in Gloucestershire that had a rather more exclusive guest list. | 0:09:30 | 0:09:34
BAND PLAYS HAPPY BIRTHDAY | 0:09:38 | 0:09:41
This weekend marks the culmination of three months of celebrating | 0:09:42 | 0:09:45
the 90th birthday of the Queen, a woman who so perfectly represents | 0:09:45 | 0:09:50
her remarkable generation, | 0:09:50 | 0:09:52
who have seen so much change and challenge over their long lives. | 0:09:52 | 0:09:56
So, I've come here to join the congregation of St Mary's Church | 0:09:56 | 0:10:00
in Thornbury | 0:10:00 | 0:10:02
as they pay tribute, not just to the achievements of the Queen, | 0:10:02 | 0:10:04
but to 90 of their own Gloucestershire nonagenarians | 0:10:04 | 0:10:09
during nine decades of life. | 0:10:09 | 0:10:11
# Long to reign over us | 0:10:11 | 0:10:17
# God save the Queen. # | 0:10:17 | 0:10:21
The service was the idea of Dame Janet Trotter, | 0:10:22 | 0:10:25
the Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, | 0:10:25 | 0:10:27
the Queen's personal representative in the county. | 0:10:27 | 0:10:30
Well, my aims were very much to involve the local community, | 0:10:30 | 0:10:35
so we've gone out across South Gloucestershire and invited people | 0:10:35 | 0:10:38
from every parish, and of course, 90 90-year-olds! | 0:10:38 | 0:10:42
And I think this year, when the Queen is 90, we can put | 0:10:42 | 0:10:46
a particular spotlight on them and recognise all that they have done. | 0:10:46 | 0:10:51
You know, they are a feisty generation. | 0:10:51 | 0:10:53
Every time I see them, I think, "Crumbs!" | 0:10:53 | 0:10:55
You know, they are just fantastic. | 0:10:55 | 0:10:57
The light and peace of Jesus Christ be with you... | 0:10:57 | 0:11:02
The service was devised by Thornbury Parish Church's vicar, | 0:11:02 | 0:11:05
the Rev Dr Jan van de Lely. | 0:11:05 | 0:11:07
Well, the service is about community service | 0:11:07 | 0:11:10
because that's so important in Christianity. | 0:11:10 | 0:11:14
Jesus lived a life of service and he died for us | 0:11:14 | 0:11:18
and, in fact, one of the readings is about how | 0:11:18 | 0:11:20
he washed his disciples' feet the night before he died, | 0:11:20 | 0:11:23
and he was demonstrating he was there to serve them, | 0:11:23 | 0:11:26
and that was his example to us. | 0:11:26 | 0:11:28
So if I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, | 0:11:28 | 0:11:34
you also ought to wash one another's feet. | 0:11:34 | 0:11:39
That picture of servant leadership is what the Queen really stands for. | 0:11:39 | 0:11:43
She has lived that out throughout her years as our monarch. | 0:11:43 | 0:11:47
THEY SING | 0:11:47 | 0:11:50
In today's congregation, we've got the whole span of ages, | 0:11:55 | 0:11:58
from the 90-year-olds right down to the youngest children, | 0:11:58 | 0:12:03
and the children are really important in the service | 0:12:03 | 0:12:06
because we want them to see those older people | 0:12:06 | 0:12:10
and to recognise what they've achieved | 0:12:10 | 0:12:12
and to learn to respect them and, of course, | 0:12:12 | 0:12:15
to follow in their fantastic example of living lives of service as well. | 0:12:15 | 0:12:20
Tell me about the pebbles. | 0:12:20 | 0:12:22
So, the pebbles are a symbolic act, | 0:12:22 | 0:12:26
so that everybody in the church, whatever age, | 0:12:26 | 0:12:30
will contribute a pebble, and that pebble will represent | 0:12:30 | 0:12:34
their contribution to the health of the community. | 0:12:34 | 0:12:38
I asked a few of the 90-year-olds | 0:12:40 | 0:12:42
what they thought of the Queen and the service today. | 0:12:42 | 0:12:45
I think she's wonderful. | 0:12:45 | 0:12:47
I think she's a tremendous example to all of us. | 0:12:47 | 0:12:50
If we could only be like her, it would be wonderful. | 0:12:50 | 0:12:52
I don't know how she does it. | 0:12:52 | 0:12:54
To be... To be invited, as I am, | 0:12:54 | 0:12:58
it's an honour, really. | 0:12:58 | 0:13:00
I liked it. | 0:13:00 | 0:13:01
The seats are a bit hard! | 0:13:01 | 0:13:03
I should bring a cushion next time. | 0:13:05 | 0:13:08
So, throughout long years of war and peace, | 0:13:08 | 0:13:11
of hardship and prosperity, the Queen's generation have | 0:13:11 | 0:13:15
worked with faith and friendship to bring up their families | 0:13:15 | 0:13:18
and build communities, and it's those years | 0:13:18 | 0:13:21
we remember now in a hymn from the prolific modern-day writer, | 0:13:21 | 0:13:24
Timothy Dudley-Smith, | 0:13:24 | 0:13:26
who, later this year, will be celebrating his own 90th birthday. | 0:13:26 | 0:13:30
Music is often a large part of Christian worship | 0:16:11 | 0:16:14
and it's no different here at the Big Church Day Out. | 0:16:14 | 0:16:17
But, as well as being a lot of fun, | 0:16:17 | 0:16:19
it does have that special power to lift the spirit, | 0:16:19 | 0:16:22
comfort us in times of need and, of course, help us to feel connected. | 0:16:22 | 0:16:27
At our church, we sing some of the hefty hymns - we love that | 0:16:29 | 0:16:33
at our church - but I really love the modern praise as well. | 0:16:33 | 0:16:36
You can see just, sort of, Jesus breaking into people's hearts, | 0:16:36 | 0:16:39
people getting touched, you know, crying, | 0:16:39 | 0:16:41
and it's just lovely. It's just wonderful to be here. | 0:16:41 | 0:16:44
I think, when you go to a music festival, | 0:16:44 | 0:16:46
you can almost worship the band, you can worship the artist, | 0:16:46 | 0:16:49
whereas here, you're worshipping God. | 0:16:49 | 0:16:52
For Donna Francis, Big Church Day Out's fusion of faith | 0:16:55 | 0:16:58
and music has had a big impact. | 0:16:58 | 0:17:00
I have a very rare condition, so I have a lot of pain, | 0:17:01 | 0:17:04
I've had to have a lot of operations, | 0:17:04 | 0:17:06
but I think that having faith in God has given me someone to go to, | 0:17:06 | 0:17:10
someone to pray to and I know that God's always there, | 0:17:10 | 0:17:14
he's always right beside me and I'm never alone. | 0:17:14 | 0:17:16
There is a song by Matt Redman and this is a song very special | 0:17:16 | 0:17:20
to my heart because I was about 15, | 0:17:20 | 0:17:23
and when that music was played I really felt touched by God, | 0:17:23 | 0:17:28
and I believe that I received some healing from God - | 0:17:28 | 0:17:31
an overwhelming sense of peace that you just can't explain, | 0:17:31 | 0:17:35
and it has to be God, it can't be anything else. | 0:17:35 | 0:17:38
# When the music fades | 0:17:38 | 0:17:42
# And all is stripped away | 0:17:42 | 0:17:45
# And I simply come | 0:17:45 | 0:17:48
# Longing just to bring | 0:17:52 | 0:17:55
# Something that's of worth | 0:17:55 | 0:17:58
# That will bless your heart, my God | 0:17:58 | 0:18:03
# And I'll bring you more than a song | 0:18:05 | 0:18:08
# For a song in itself | 0:18:08 | 0:18:11
# Is not what you have required | 0:18:11 | 0:18:15
# You search much deeper within | 0:18:18 | 0:18:21
# Through the way things appear | 0:18:21 | 0:18:24
# You're looking into my heart | 0:18:24 | 0:18:28
# I'm coming back to the heart of worship | 0:18:31 | 0:18:37
# And it's all about you | 0:18:37 | 0:18:40
# It's all about you, Jesus | 0:18:40 | 0:18:44
# I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it | 0:18:44 | 0:18:50
# When it's all about you | 0:18:50 | 0:18:54
# It's all about you, Jesus | 0:18:54 | 0:18:58
# I'm coming back to the heart of worship | 0:18:58 | 0:19:03
# And it's all about you | 0:19:03 | 0:19:06
# It's all about you | 0:19:06 | 0:19:08
# It's all about you, Jesus | 0:19:08 | 0:19:11
# I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it | 0:19:11 | 0:19:17
# When it's all about you | 0:19:17 | 0:19:20
# It's all about you, Jesus. # | 0:19:20 | 0:19:25
I feel like I need to get in the mood for this next feature. | 0:19:30 | 0:19:34
Cue the snow machine! | 0:19:34 | 0:19:36
We have been inundated with your designs for | 0:19:37 | 0:19:39
our Christmas card competition in aid of BBC Children In Need, | 0:19:39 | 0:19:42
so thank you so much if you entered. | 0:19:42 | 0:19:45
Time now to reveal the ten designs that will make up | 0:19:45 | 0:19:50
our Songs Of Praise Christmas card pack - | 0:19:50 | 0:19:53
hitting the shelves nationwide from September. | 0:19:53 | 0:19:56
Over the last few weeks, Team Songs Of Praise, | 0:19:59 | 0:20:02
under the watchful eye of Pudsey, has been shortlisting | 0:20:02 | 0:20:05
your wonderfully varied Christmas card designs, ready for the judges. | 0:20:05 | 0:20:10
Joining me to cast an expert eye over the entries are | 0:20:20 | 0:20:24
BBC arts editor Will Gompertz, | 0:20:24 | 0:20:26
and actress and accomplished water-colourist Una Stubbs. | 0:20:26 | 0:20:29
I'm hoping to see today cards obviously that I like | 0:20:29 | 0:20:33
and I can see some ones that really, really appeal. | 0:20:33 | 0:20:37
Super simple and wow! | 0:20:37 | 0:20:40
'I just like something which is, | 0:20:40 | 0:20:42
' "Oh, my goodness, I wasn't expecting that!" ' | 0:20:42 | 0:20:44
Maybe something which is comic, or it could be serious, | 0:20:44 | 0:20:47
but definitely unusual. | 0:20:47 | 0:20:50
This is pretty good, isn't it? | 0:20:53 | 0:20:55
-Josie, don't you think? -Yeah, I do, I love that one. | 0:20:55 | 0:20:58
To me, Christmas cards are one of the best things about Christmas. | 0:20:58 | 0:21:03
You get a card from someone | 0:21:03 | 0:21:05
you haven't spoken to for a year - "Aww! Aww!" | 0:21:05 | 0:21:08
SHE CHUCKLES | 0:21:08 | 0:21:09
-I really like this arrangement. -Oh! | 0:21:09 | 0:21:11
"And the greatest of these is love" - | 0:21:11 | 0:21:13
obviously a very Christmassy sentiment. | 0:21:13 | 0:21:15
And you've got the boxes and the gold. | 0:21:15 | 0:21:17
But, actually, I really like the typography. | 0:21:17 | 0:21:19
Yeah, this is one of my favourites. | 0:21:19 | 0:21:20
I probably shouldn't say just yet, but, yeah, | 0:21:20 | 0:21:23
I like the typography as well. | 0:21:23 | 0:21:24
-I like that. -Yes, I like that. -I like that. | 0:21:24 | 0:21:27
Because music is such a beautiful thing, | 0:21:27 | 0:21:29
and certainly very much part of Christmas, | 0:21:29 | 0:21:31
-and that's just a very elegant representation. -It is. | 0:21:31 | 0:21:34
-Good use of colour. -Yes. -And, again, nice arrangement. | 0:21:37 | 0:21:41
I think this artist has done Christmas cards before. | 0:21:41 | 0:21:44
-Very professional. -Yeah. | 0:21:44 | 0:21:46
Well, I think we are spoilt for choice, aren't we, really? | 0:21:48 | 0:21:51
Absolutely. | 0:21:51 | 0:21:52
But we do have to decide, so what I've got for you is ten pegs | 0:21:52 | 0:21:56
-with love hearts on them, appropriately, each... -Oh! | 0:21:56 | 0:21:59
..and now it's time for you to just wander around in your own time | 0:21:59 | 0:22:02
-and put these pegs on the ten that you're most fond of. -OK. | 0:22:02 | 0:22:06
You have to capture the spirit of Christmas in this image | 0:22:10 | 0:22:14
and to communicate that sentiment in a single image is quite tricky. | 0:22:14 | 0:22:19
I'm looking for cards that catch your eyes, | 0:22:21 | 0:22:24
when you see a row of them and you think, "Why did that catch my eye?" | 0:22:24 | 0:22:27
But it did. Or it grabs you somewhere. | 0:22:27 | 0:22:29
It's been fantastic because the standard is so high, | 0:22:31 | 0:22:36
the variety so wide and the messages so sincere, | 0:22:36 | 0:22:41
I just find the whole thing rather moving, actually. | 0:22:41 | 0:22:44
I've really, really enjoyed it. | 0:22:46 | 0:22:47
I love looking at art anyway | 0:22:47 | 0:22:49
and I think there's some really good art here - | 0:22:49 | 0:22:52
better than I ever imagined - it's very good! | 0:22:52 | 0:22:54
If we've done our job well, I think | 0:22:54 | 0:22:57
we've curated an amazing pack of ten Christmas cards, | 0:22:57 | 0:23:01
which should sell millions, to the benefit of Children In Need. | 0:23:01 | 0:23:06
Later in the programme, we will reveal our final ten designs, | 0:23:08 | 0:23:11
but if you did send one in, thank you so much. | 0:23:11 | 0:23:14
Absolutely brilliant to see | 0:23:14 | 0:23:15
so many different expressions of what Christmas means to you. | 0:23:15 | 0:23:19
One image that has always been popular on Christmas cards | 0:23:19 | 0:23:23
is the candle - for Christians, a reminder that | 0:23:23 | 0:23:26
whatever the time of year, Jesus is the light of the world. | 0:23:26 | 0:23:30
-MUSIC PLAYING -..to go absolutely bonkers! | 0:25:30 | 0:25:33
Big Church Day Out caters for all music tastes. | 0:25:33 | 0:25:37
Mobo award-winning rap artist Guvna B is here | 0:25:37 | 0:25:40
for the eighth year running. | 0:25:40 | 0:25:42
-Guvna B, welcome to Songs Of Praise. -Thank you. | 0:25:42 | 0:25:46
-About time we had you on here, I feel! -I know, man! | 0:25:46 | 0:25:48
This year was amazing for me. I grew up with this programme. | 0:25:48 | 0:25:51
-It's quite cool to be on it. -It's cool for us, too! | 0:25:51 | 0:25:54
Now, you use rap music to get your message across, | 0:25:54 | 0:25:58
but as an art form, it's not always associated with positive things. | 0:25:58 | 0:26:03
Yeah, definitely. I think it is often associated with violence, | 0:26:03 | 0:26:08
misogyny, but there's tonnes of artists, not just me, | 0:26:08 | 0:26:11
that are using rap as a way to really inspire people. | 0:26:11 | 0:26:14
# What can wash away my sins? # | 0:26:14 | 0:26:17
I think my main kind of mission is to encourage people that God | 0:26:17 | 0:26:22
has created all these different ways to worship him | 0:26:22 | 0:26:27
and I'm using rap music as a way to inspire everyone that God has given | 0:26:27 | 0:26:32
them a purpose, a hope, a future, and we can share that through music. | 0:26:32 | 0:26:37
Something I and I think a lot of people will find very encouraging | 0:26:37 | 0:26:40
is your personal testimony of how you came to the faith. | 0:26:40 | 0:26:44
We were on a small council estate in East London. | 0:26:44 | 0:26:47
Home and church, it was amazing, but on the estate, | 0:26:47 | 0:26:51
I was being pulled in a different direction. | 0:26:51 | 0:26:53
But when I was about 15, me and a few friends were playing | 0:26:53 | 0:26:56
football in the playground at school, | 0:26:56 | 0:26:58
about six of us in the playground, pouring down with rain | 0:26:58 | 0:27:01
and out of nowhere, a massive lightning bolt struck | 0:27:01 | 0:27:03
the middle of the playground and we all kind of fell to the floor. | 0:27:03 | 0:27:06
But in the middle of the playground | 0:27:06 | 0:27:08
was a good friend of mine, Izzy, and he was unconscious, | 0:27:08 | 0:27:10
and they just couldn't get him breathing, | 0:27:10 | 0:27:12
so he got rushed to hospital and was put on an intensive care machine. | 0:27:12 | 0:27:16
For me, I just couldn't think of anything else to do | 0:27:16 | 0:27:19
but to run to God and, thankfully, for me and my friends | 0:27:19 | 0:27:23
and all the people we knew, God came through and healed him, | 0:27:23 | 0:27:26
and it just inspired me that, you know what, | 0:27:26 | 0:27:28
I don't just want a saviour for the difficult times, | 0:27:28 | 0:27:30
but whenever there is trouble or difficult situations, | 0:27:30 | 0:27:34
or I need an answer to prayer, he is the first one I run to. | 0:27:34 | 0:27:37
Well, we're going to hear one of your tunes now. | 0:27:37 | 0:27:39
-Can you tell us about it? -So, this is Nothing But The Blood. | 0:27:39 | 0:27:42
As I said, I grew up as a Christian and this has always been | 0:27:42 | 0:27:44
my favourite hymn, and I wanted loads of people to hear it, but not | 0:27:44 | 0:27:48
everyone loves hymns as much as I do, so I thought, "You know what? | 0:27:48 | 0:27:51
"I'm going to do a rap version". And this was the result! | 0:27:51 | 0:27:54
# No other fount I know | 0:27:54 | 0:27:56
# Nothing but the blood of Jesus | 0:27:56 | 0:27:58
# Yo, me and Adam, man, we've really got to have words | 0:27:58 | 0:28:01
# I'm sorry, brother, but I heard you made it all worse | 0:28:01 | 0:28:04
# I'm stuck, I don't know what works | 0:28:04 | 0:28:05
# I know it ain't all your fault | 0:28:05 | 0:28:07
# You're as flawed as me | 0:28:07 | 0:28:08
# I know what it's like when I let Satan talk to me | 0:28:08 | 0:28:11
# And though I've read all these books | 0:28:11 | 0:28:12
# And I've read all these verses | 0:28:12 | 0:28:14
# Why when I progress do I get caught reversing? | 0:28:14 | 0:28:17
# I'm keeping it moving, trying to find your grace | 0:28:17 | 0:28:20
# I just feel like in my life, I've made so many mistakes | 0:28:20 | 0:28:23
# What can wash away my sins? | 0:28:23 | 0:28:25
# Nothing but the blood of Jesus | 0:28:25 | 0:28:28
# What can make me whole again? | 0:28:28 | 0:28:32
# Nothing but the blood of Jesus | 0:28:32 | 0:28:35
# Oh, precious is the flow | 0:28:35 | 0:28:37
# That makes me white as snow | 0:28:37 | 0:28:41
# No other fount I know | 0:28:41 | 0:28:43
# Nothing but the blood of Jesus | 0:28:43 | 0:28:45
# They think I'm crazy | 0:28:45 | 0:28:48
# And they don't understand where I've been lately | 0:28:48 | 0:28:50
# I've been battling myself, but can he save me? | 0:28:50 | 0:28:53
# I put my faith up on that shelf and yeah, it changed me | 0:28:53 | 0:28:55
# You could tell that I've been lazy | 0:28:55 | 0:28:57
# It's the world that I was craving | 0:28:57 | 0:28:59
# But then I had a dream | 0:28:59 | 0:29:02
# He told me life ain't even always what it seems | 0:29:02 | 0:29:04
# Cos every test is a lesson | 0:29:04 | 0:29:06
# Every lesson is a blessing if you choose to see the message | 0:29:06 | 0:29:10
# What can wash away my sin? | 0:29:10 | 0:29:12
# Nothing but the blood of Jesus | 0:29:12 | 0:29:16
# What can make me whole again? | 0:29:16 | 0:29:18
# Nothing but the blood of Jesus | 0:29:18 | 0:29:21
# Oh, precious is the flow | 0:29:21 | 0:29:24
# That makes me white as snow | 0:29:24 | 0:29:27
# No other fount I know | 0:29:27 | 0:29:30
# Nothing but the blood of Jesus | 0:29:30 | 0:29:32
# And so I'm here | 0:29:32 | 0:29:34
# And I'm still standing by his grace, it disappeared | 0:29:34 | 0:29:37
# All of my failures, all my shame, now I see clear | 0:29:37 | 0:29:40
# And that's because no other name has brought me near | 0:29:40 | 0:29:43
# And I can't wait to see his face, I'm pressing on | 0:29:43 | 0:29:46
# All my mistakes, they are erased and now I'm strong | 0:29:46 | 0:29:49
# It's like the judge has closed the case, I can't move on | 0:29:49 | 0:29:52
# And yeah, I've moved from place to place | 0:29:52 | 0:29:54
# But now I've found where I belong... | 0:29:54 | 0:29:55
# Wave your hands with me | 0:29:55 | 0:29:57
# It was the blood, it was the blood of Jesus | 0:29:57 | 0:29:59
# He saved us all! | 0:29:59 | 0:30:01
# It was the blood... # | 0:30:01 | 0:30:03
Earlier in the programme, | 0:30:03 | 0:30:05
we selected the ten winning designs | 0:30:05 | 0:30:06
for our Christmas card competition... | 0:30:06 | 0:30:08
..and here they are. | 0:30:09 | 0:30:11
They will be available in the shops from September | 0:30:12 | 0:30:15
and, of course, all in aid of BBC Children In Need. | 0:30:15 | 0:30:18
So, it's the perfect way to send your Christmas greetings | 0:30:18 | 0:30:22
and raise money for a worthy cause. | 0:30:22 | 0:30:24
Next week, cards will be flying off the shelves for Fathers' Day | 0:31:04 | 0:31:08
and here, on Songs Of Praise, | 0:31:08 | 0:31:09
Connie will be meeting some remarkable dads. | 0:31:09 | 0:31:12
Well, we've had a fantastic time here at the Big Church Day Out, | 0:31:18 | 0:31:21
and we've had some great weather, | 0:31:21 | 0:31:23
but our final hymn is Carl Boberg's How Great Thou Art. | 0:31:23 | 0:31:27 |
