Inside the Paloma Faith household,

what were the songs that

you remember being on all the time

that inspired you?

Baltimore, Nina Simone.

The Times They Are A

Changing, Bob Dylan.

Natural Woman, Carole King.

These were like the soundtrack

of my childhood.

When I was growing up I was quite

shy, believe it or not.

And my mum worked in a school.

And when you work in a school you're

kind of like a local celebrity.

So everyone knew us,

because they'd be like,

"Miss Ash, Miss Ash" -

that was my mother's name.

Calling out for my mum,

who's quite glamorous, walking

around in her leopard-print coat.

What about some of the

songs on your albums?

Were they inspired by

the surroundings around here?

So, there's a song on my

album, The Architect,

called Kings and Queens.

It was a very outdoors

kind of upbringing.

We played football in the street.

You know, hang out

on the street corners.

And in the song I say,

grazed knees and stolen alcohol.

Quite nostalgic.

All right, Paloma,

I hear you used to be

a quizmaster around here.

I did, I used to run a pub

quiz under the pseudonym

Pavlova La Tarte.

It's a really amazing

community around here.

You came from a really lovely part

of the world where people just

look after each other.
