Elbow T in the Park

This programme contains repetitive Hello! Welcome back. Here we are,

final day of T In The Park. It's been a fantastic weekend so far. We

are finishing off with an incredible night of just brilliant

music. Coming up we have got Elbow, we have Chase and Status, and Nicki

Minaj. And a headline set from Kasabian tonight at quart tore 11,

you will see that on BBC Three. Look, they're here! How are you

all? Amazing. It's Kasabian in a box. Brilliant. That was a

brilliant bit of television. Sorry everyone. High fives. Welcome to

the treehouse. We love being in the treehouse. It's really warm in here.

You two are not feeling the festival vibe. In here, it's warm

and everyone is nice and drinking, it's great. The T stands for

trenchfoot in the park. Back headlining, what is it about T In

The Park? They love you. It's one of the best festivals in the world,

I am not just saying that. It stands out. It really does. It's

great because we are talking about it in the car on the way down, we

opened the NME Stage in 2004 and we have p come so far since then, it's

nice. Do you get nervous because you are such a natural frontman in

terms - stop making each other laugh! You are not 12 any more. In

terms of egging the crowd on, do you it brilliantly. They sing at

you. Headlining you must have expectation. We are born to do this.

We are good at it now. I have to ask you, are you wearing a headband

tonight? It's the right weather for it. It's like a little nod to Jimmy

Hendrix. Especially in the coat. like it a lot. We have your whole

set on BBC Three. Have you any special tricks up your sleeve?

Something magical is going to happen tonight and you will get

teary-eyed when it happens. Are you going to dedicate a song to me?

do that, yeah. I would actually cry. It would be the second time I cried

today. So bad. Do you tailor the set or is it the festival set you

are on at the minute? Yeah, we do. It's the place to play all the big

tunes, you know. The crowd appreciate the big songs, you know.

It's heavy with all those tunes, yeah. Your summer has been very

busy. Have you got any time off soon? What are you doing, record a

new album? The last show is August, playing Reading and Leeds, we might

go out again maybe at the end of the year, have time off, deckchair

time. We have not sat down since 1999. We went out on tour last June,

apart from Christmas - we even played Christmas. Yeah. Need a

holiday. Yeah. How is the feeling in the band, if you are with each

other for that long there's a - people get annoyed. We are good. We

toured America for a while and that was hard work. We got through it

and helped each other out and we are OK. A lot of bands say in

America you have to crack each state, like it's a different

country, have you found that? massive. It's one of those things,

if you get on a radio it makes things easier. It was nice for us

because we usually played huge shows, whereas in America we are

playing 2000 a night. It's nice, refreshing. Reminds you. Exactly,

we got in touch with those kids we were before all the big shows. On

that level it was great. Is it nice to get back into that frame of mind

of the size of shows you were playing? It's improved us as a band

massively. Since going to America and playing every day, we are now

frightening, we are a frightening outfit now. We were always good,

now we are really good. What is the track you are most looking forward

to playing? I love Days Forgotten and Roll Like We Used To. They're

great. I suppose tonight Fire because it will be the last song in

the festival and usually goes off with that, and I think there should

be a certificate for all these people at the end, it's not about

copping to T in -- coming to T In The Park, it's about surviving.

Anyone still there for Fire should get a certificate. Just a well done.
