A triumphant show from The Vaccines earlier today. Unbelievable and

they're joining us now. That guy... The big guy? Respect to the people

who gave him that opportunity. Yes, respect to him for braving it

up there. It was good work! I love it when they hone in on people in

the crowd and they know the words and they are like, "Show me, show

me, I know the words.". How was it? It was amazing. All things

considered, it was amazing. We played in Denmark yesterday and we

flew in at 3am this morning and we got to Glasgow and none of our

stuff was here and until about ten minutes before stage time we were

sort of begging and stealing and borrowing leads and drumsticks. So

apparently some people were scared we weren't going to play. It was

fantastic all things considered. It is good to hear about these things

afterwards. Oh my god that sounds scary.

It is fascinating watching the performances with you in the studio

because you are going, "The crowd looks massive." You were worried

when you were on the stage, it wasn't as big as the crowd for Noel.

What do you mean, our crowd was bigger than Noel's? It is amazing,

it is weird because you are competing with a wide open space.

This is our first time really on like a main stage at a major

ecofestival. Last year we were in the tent and it is a more intense

environment... Intimate? intimate.

And personal. Do you prefer the the tent or main

stage? We had a special gig in the tent last year, it is easy because

you bounce auft walls and -- off the walls and stuff, but no, today

was special. Are festivals a good good way

because you have got the new album, but people know that first album so

well, those tunes that everybody fell in love with. But is it a

great way of teaching the new songs to an audience? It is an important

way for us to get good at them because like, you know, the songs

we have been playing for the last year-and-a-half are the songs we

played every night. The more we get a chance to play the songs, we're

giving them justice. You are forced to put in more

effort in at festivals, you are not preaching to the converted so you

have to up your game. We incorporated songs that we

thought would make sense in the set we're playing at the moment. There

are songs which are more dancable. Well, the new single went down a

storm today? Yes. How have you found the new album?

You must have written about it when you were touring around? It is

difficult. One thing we were keen to do is avoid making an album

about tour tour buses and missing our friend and family. The med

olies came from -- melodies came from high rise hotel rooms. When we

got days off on tour, we went into like little rehearsal spaces to

work things out and we tried loads and loads of different things out,

but it came together when we were off tour more than anything else.

I have to say Freddie is the person, the only band member that says

thank you quicker than anyone else in the world. He knowsI want to say

thank you. That's his moment. jurching in there before -- jumping

in there before you basically! We are looking forward to the new

album and it is going to to get bigger and bigger from here?

don't know. The first album did so well so

quickly as well. I liken it to being in the eye of a storm, you

don't know how well something has been received unless you spend all

day day Googling yourself. I don't know how much of an impact that

first record had. This next record is ten times times better and we

are so proud of it and we put faith in our own taste the first time

around and we have done that again and I feel if this record has

connected, there is no reason why this one won't even more.

actually. We have got a UK tour in November and we, I don't think we

have headlined Liverpool yet, but we're going in November.

An incredible band, they are ALT J and that was Breeze Blocks. Edith

has gone to meet Noel Gallagher and left me in the company of the lads,

The Maccabees. Why lads? How was your show earlier? It was really

fun. It is incredible the way people are braving the weather out

here and to have a crowd like that in this kind of conditions is

pretty amazing. We had a good time. It is the tent. If it is raining,

the tents will be packed. Ben Howard was watching your set,

he is a big fan of of you. I have been a fan and as a fan it has

grown naturally, with the third album, it is like, "They have

arrived." Do you feel that's happened as well? Festivals are a

good gauger. You turn up and no someone comes specifically for you.

There is a few weirdos at the front. If you are Noel Gallagher people

come and see you, but we're still figuring that out and we're getting

there. Creeping along. It is getting better and better and

you can't ask for more than that. The Scottish crowd is some of the

loudest and the best and most ridiculous in the whole world. Have

you had stuff thrown at you? Yes. Today. I had a whole Capri Sun.

Maybe it was a comment. I didn't see it as a statement. Maybe it was.

It is better than a dirty protest. I didn't feel like it was a dirty
