-Ladies and Gentlemen, it's a

-pleasure to be here with you again.

-Carmarthenshire is this year's

-feature county.

-There is more of Carmarthenshire

-in me than any other Welsh county.

-That makes it a real pleasure for me

-to be here today.

-This show, now in its 98th year,

-is hugely important.

-Above all else...

-..whilst there is serious business

-done on this showground...

-..it's a tremendous place

-to have fun.

-It's a wonderful Monday morning

-here in Llanelwedd.

-Competitions got under way

-early today...

-..and are taking place

-across the showground.

-The sheep were centre stage.

-I'm Gwilym Williams from Tregaron.

-I'm the judge for the Texel Sheep.

-It's the first year

-I won't be exhibiting.

-I've been coming for twenty years.

-This is another honour.

-It's an amazing feeling

-which you'll only get once.

-It's an honour to judge

-at the Royal Welsh.

-I've loved it.

-I was nervous but once the first

-class was over I got used to it.

-It went really well.

-Currently, the Bennett family from

-Meifod are first, second and third.

-It's a clean sweep right now.

-It's very, very unusual.

-The stewards

-are bringing the prizes.

-They've done it.

-What a show for them.

-They'd already won

-the ram lamb class.

-First second and third here.

-They have a fourth animal

-in the line.

-Quite a show.

-They've coloured them

-a similar way so they stand out.

-Never mind the colour,

-they stand out in every way.

-What an achievement!

-The first three

-out of fifty ewe lambs.

-Thank you, my dear.

-We're very pleased.

-He had four animals in the class

-and he won first, second and third.

-Tremendous.

-The best I've seen in years.

-The standard was amazing

-in every single class.

-The top five in every class

-were outstanding.

-The Bennett sheep were exceptional.

-Where will it go?

-Ewe or ram?

-It's the ewe as you suspected.

-It's a picture.

-An amazing show already

-for that family.

-The ewe lamb

-stood out from the start.

-Nothing got near. Outstanding.

-The main prize awarded

-by the Society is the Sir Bryner.

-they honoured an individual...

-..for their special contribution

-to the dairy industry.

-There were four contenders.

-he will be a worthy winner.

-Our son is over from Hong Kong

-and happens to be here.

-He looks after the export side.

-Our eldest son is at home and his

-wife is here with the children.

-It's very much a family affair.

-We wouldn't bother

-going outside the farm gates...

-..if I didn't get that support.

-It is a farm of families.

-We employ lots of young families

-which support the local communities.

-I'm a firm believer in that

-and Welsh culture, Welsh products.

-Eira, you must be delighted

-and proud of the whole family....

-and especially Laurence.

-We are very proud.

-He works hard

-and continues to do so.

-When Daioni started,

-I came in to help a bit more.

-I am a farmer, a farmer's wife.

-As a family, we are very chuffed.

-It took about three weeks

-for us to settle down.

-One word was key to the decision.

-He is a fantastic ambassador.

-Exactly.

-..so you must have enjoyed

-seeing Laurence's reaction...

-..but the Society honoured me again

-by allowing me to be a judge...

-the dairy industry.

-was given quite a surprise...

-..as he received the Society's

-highest honour, the Gold Medal.

-He's not a fervent sun-worshipper

-I've been involved with the show

-in some capacity for years.

-I started commentating

-first of all in the Cattle Ring.

-I moved on to the Pig Enclosure.

-I gave the job up last year.

-It was time for

-someone better to take over.

-I'm Cennydd Jones. I'm the

-commentator in the Pig Enclosure.

-I started off in cooperation

-with Lyn Richards and Phil Fowlie.

-Phil knows everything about pigs.

-Lyn had perfected the art

-of speaking to an audience.

-I've learnt

-everything I know from them.

-My first visit

-was during a Winter Fair.

-I met Lyn and he welcomed me

-and started training me right there.

-What to do and what not to do.

-He's taught me all I know...

-..but I'm not sure

-he's taught me everything he knows.

-When I hear him

-addressing you so clearly...

-..I know the job

-is in capable hands.

-I know he's the

-right man for the job.

-I want to wish you

-This is the Welsh Pig Championship.

-Huw and Ela Roberts have three

-of the four animals in the race.

-They are having quite a show.

-They have the champion boar, the

-champion sow and the reserve boar.

-owns the other reserve sow.

-She's come all the way

-from East Sussex.

-Kevin Matthews has been

-adjudicating this whole section.

-He probably knows

-who the winner will be by now.

-He's speaking to Phil Fowlie.

-and hope the judge agrees.

-There's a lovely finish.

-It's a lovely use of a Sycamore.

-made from kitchen utensils.

-I opted for this effort here.

-That is slick.

-There's a combination of materials.

-It's been placed into the concrete

-to make a sign for a shop.

-It's quite exciting and interesting.

-I'm already married but I can see

-this being good for a wedding.

-You could put this on the table

-and put people's names into it.

-I think you'll be

-making these yourself.

-One of the today's highlights was

-the Welsh Cob Under Saddle class.

-As always, there were two judges.

-Mrs Emma Green

-would ride every stallion...

-..whilst Mrs Alison Squires

-was judging the conformation.

-Whilst riding, the judge is looking

-for a horse which reacts quickly...

-..travels smoothly

-and is easy to ride.

-These are the best in this class.

-It's interesting, David.

-In past years the Cobs

-and Section C Under Saddle horses...

-..didn't show off

-all the various gaits.

-The riding fraternity

-would say that cobs could only trot.

-That's how they used to be judged.

-Things have changed over the years.

-Horses must now show off every gait.

-Walking, trotting,

-canter and gallop.

-It's great to see all these

-stallions looking so magnificent.

-They've performed ever so well.

-The judges are comparing notes

-and deliberating.

-They kept a close eye on this class.

-The horse placed first stays first.

-Yes, it stays in first place.

-Grey horses in first,

-second and third place.

-The winner of the Welsh Cob Stallion

-Under Saddle class...

-..is Mrs Karen Johnson

-with Menai Eurostar.

-The two stallions went on to the

-Welsh Cob Under Saddle Championship.

-Once again, Menai Eurostar

-took first prize.

-It achieved the same success as

-another star from the Menai Stud...

-..the stallion Menai Martino, who

-won the same double back in 2013.

-Another unforgettable day for Peter

-and Ann Jones of the Menai Stud.
