-I picked out a Limousin bull

-early this morning for success.

-It has claimed

-the Limousin Championship.

-There are several good ones.

-There's the heifer that won

-the Welsh Black Championship.

-It belongs to Eirian Griffiths.

-She's a good heifer.

-She's well turned out.

-The Hereford bull is

-also an excellent animal.

-It's a modern, well-balanced bull.

-This is the Charolais heifer.

-She's quite special.

-She was in the final four

-last year as a young heifer.

-She's still a heifer.

-She's the daughter of Barnsford

-Ferny, the bull that won...

-I come from Ceredigion.

-I steward the wine section.

-I've been with the wine

-for about 8 years.

-I start at 7.00am

-by dusting the bottles down.

-I also check that

-none of the corks have popped.

-Fairly fresh wine

-does sometimes pop its cork.

-Hot days can also do that.

-The judges taste the wine.

-They also look at

-the colour of the wine.

-They are looking for

-impurities in the wine.

-If they like the wine

-we might get a little taste.

-I have a caravan down in the

-stewards and judges section.

-There's quite

-a few of us down there.

-We all meet for a drink after work.

-We might then come back to the

-showground for a few drinks...

-Is it their style and character

-that attracts you to this breed?

-First of all, the sheep's character.

-It's a pretty sheep

-and produces good lambs.

-Its character,

-colour and its markings...

-..are what catches the eye.

-There are some typical markings

-and their location is important.

-It's the markings

-which make the Kerry Hill breed.

-Also on the legs.

-What do you look for?

-I look for a narrow head and ears.

-Personally, I like two black ears.

-Black around the nose

-and around the eyes.

-Back to the legs,

-you want them black and white.

-This is the ram championship.

-Three in the race, Keith.

-Three good sheep.

-The middle one stands very square.

-Yes, indeed but as I said earlier,

-I want two black ears.

-I'd put it down the line because

-it doesn't have two black ears.

-He's looking at them walking now.

-That is important.

-The ram is a bit shy

-but it's going quite well.

-It's moving now.

-When they're at their best, they're

-like a Welsh cob moving around.

-I think Mr Barrow from Ireland

-has made his decision.

-Where is he going?

-He's gone for the old ram.

-Now for the ewe championship

-in the Kerry Hill section.

-All three sheep were originally

-bred by Owens of Hereford.

-That's great for them.

-Three wonderful sheep.

-Owens always breeds good sheep.

-They own ewe lamb

-and the yearling lamb.

-Tom Ryan Evans from Powys

-has the older sheep.

-Quite a sheep.

-That's the sheep that's taken it.

-They've done the double.

-Well done.

-He's won the ram and

-the ewe championships.

-Fantastic.

-Unbelievable, absolutely

-Young Tom is part of the team,

-he's the main boy.

-The Dr Emrys Evans Prize winner this

-year is Dewi Jenkins from Talybont.

-He's a proud and happy shepherd.

-It came as a shock.

-I wasn't expecting it at all.

-It's a huge honour.

-I pleased the judges most with the

-shearing and the sheep dog trial.

-I was picked to represent Wales...

-..at the 2015 International Young

-Handlers competition in Scotland.

-I was fortunate enough to win.

-I've reached intermediate shearing

-finals at the Royal Welsh recently.

-Training sheepdogs is my hobby.

-After supper,

-I'll go out to train the dogs.

-If you spend five minutes with each

-dog every evening, it really helps.

-I have a busy day

-on the Monday of the Royal Welsh.

-I've qualified for the

-YFC shearing competition.

-That takes place

-at 9.00am on Monday.

-I'll receive

-the Dr Emrys Award at 2.20pm.

-I'll quickly change out of my suit

-to show the sheep at 3.00pm.

-He wasn't blowing

-his own horn or anything.

-He was quiet but everything he did,

-he did well.

-He's just sold a dog

-for a top price in Bala.

-He's been shearing at the finals

-here in the last few years.

-He got a good average price

-selling his Welsh sheep.

-Everything he's done,

-it's been fantastic.

-The icing on the cake

-for Dewi today...

-..was the family's

-sweeping success...

-..in the

-Welsh Mountain Sheep class.

-Dewi Jenkins there from Tanygraig,

-Talybont is the winner.

-The yearling ewe takes it.

-The reserve champion went to Dewi

-which is the yearling ewe.

-The yearling ram has taken it.

-He's having a week to remember.

-Dewi, how did it feel to receive the

-award in front of so many people?

-It was quite a thing.

-It was a huge honour...

-.particularly considering the names

-of some of my predecessors.

-It meant a lot.

-with the sheepdogs and the rams.

-he's had success in many things.
