-have won twice in this decade too.

-reserve champions last year.

-Will the Lims continue to rule?

-the best sight at the Show for me.

-you've had recently.

-It's a very special spectacle.

-to the Cattle Ring to see...

-..this massive parade of beef on

-the hoof on the Tuesday afternoon.

-How do you choose your five best

-animals as a society for the comp?

-It's quite a task.

-The breed competitions

-have been in the morning.

-Then the judge for the breed

-joins a few others...

-..and they head for the sheds to try

-and find five that match perfectly.

-The best individuals

-don't always make it.

-You must have at least

-one animal of each sex in the team.

-You can't have

-five bulls or five heifers.

-You mentioned there that sometimes

-the individual champions miss out.

-Normally though, they do make it.

-You look for power. Some breeds

-decide to go for five young animals.

-Power comes into the reckoning.

-You have power this year.

-One of the best

-Limousin bulls I've ever seen.

-They took the Supreme

-We have Llyr Hughes from Anglesey

-who breeds Limousins...

-..and Alwyn Rees from Meirionnydd,

-a familiar voice at the show.

-It's an amazing spectacle

-for the crowds to watch.

-It pulls on the heartstrings

-to see these cattle being tuned out.

-as Dick the Auctioneer.

-He's based at Dolgellau Market.

-He's been there for many years.

-the Charolais very well indeed.

-Without showing too much favouritism

-I must point out...

-..that the two at each end were

-the FitzHugh Champions earlier.

-Many of them belong to

-Boden & Davies from Cheshire.

-The young bull is supplied by

-Kevin Thomas. He's very promising.

-It's a promising team.

-The favourites are stepping up now

-considering their past record.

-These are your breed, Llyr.

-This is a real challenge

-to the Charolais.

-You'd like the bull

-to be a touch bigger...

-..but he matches nicely

-with the females.

-It's a great team.

-The Simmentals take their turn

-in front of the judges.

-I'm not sure about this team. There

-are some very strong individuals.

-very young heifers in there.

-They are around a year old.

-There's one very special cow

-in there that I'm a huge fan of.

-She really stands out again

-this year.

-They don't really

-come together as a team for me.

-That single cow is exceptional.

-She makes the team on her own.

-And now the Highland Cattle

-who are enjoying a renaissance.

-They live on heather and reeds.

-Where can by it?

-I have plenty of it if you want it.

-They live on very little, I swear.

-They are quite a sight as a team.

-People from an non-agricultural

-background will love seeing these.

-It's great to see them here.

-Alwyn, Richard has done a good job.

-He's taken his time

-and been very thorough.

-Yes, they must all be given

-exactly the same chance.

-Many of these cattle, like the

-British Blondes, for example...

-..have travelled

-a long way to be here today.

-We can look down the line

-and see the Salers coming up.

-Llyr, this breed is increasing

-in Wales every year.

-It crosses really

-well with continental breeds.

-They have become very fashionable.

-They're excellent cows

-with good width on the pelvis.

-That helps with calving.

-However, you'd like the bull

-to be a bit more powerful.

-Yes, the cow does dominate

-a bit too much.

-You could have a lighter cow.

-I agree.

-Excitement is building

-and the tension is mounting.

-The crowd is on its feet

-and they're ready for some fun.

-He is ready to address the audience

-before he chooses his winner.

-Yes!

-The Charolais have won!

-That is a real Team of Five.

-The Limousins are reserve champions.

-It was very close.

-It's always the judge's decision

-but what a team from the Charolais.

-I am Ela Roberts, this is my

-husband, Huw, Emyr, who is seven...

-..and Anest who is five.

-This year has been very successful.

-We won the championship and reserve

-in the Welsh Pig boar class.

-We won the sow championship and she

-also won the breed championship.

-In 2015, when Emyr was only five...

-..he asked a man from Wigan

-if he could have a Saddleback.

-A year later, Mr Mulkeen came back

-to the Anglesey Show...

-..with a young Saddleback for Emyr.

-Doris, the sow,

-was ultimately taken to a boar...

-..and a litter of pigs was born

-at the end of January, 2017.

-Walter was one of them.

-We will show the Saddleback pig

-on behalf of Emyr.

-He'll be looking on

-as we sweat in the enclosure.

-I prefer Welsh pigs

-because they are pink.

-I prefer Saddleback pigs because

-they're not as colourful...

-..and they're different from Welsh

-pigs like Mam, Dad and Anest.

-We've reached the Saddleback

-Championship in the pig enclosure.

-1936 Ferguson Brown Tractor.

-Two months ago she was in pieces

-in the corner of the garage.

-After lots of late nights and long

-weekends we got her into one piece.

-I think we've spent...

-..a solid three weeks on it.

-One of the reasons we chose

-the Ferguson Brown tractor...

-..was that my father sold

-new David Brown tractors...

-..between

-the seventies and nineties.

-We have history with

-the David Browns in the family.

-These are quite rare now but

-they were the fashion of the time.

-You can see how they've developed...

-..from buckets of rust

-to the modern machines.

-This project is finished now.

-There's an empty corner of the

-garage ready for the next project.

-People have flocked here in their

-thousands once again today...

-..to enjoy what the Royal Welsh

-has to offer.

-One person delights

-in being in just one place.

-That's Meinir right in the heat

-of battle in the Sheep Ring.

-One breed that's gained popularity

-at the Show is the Blue Texel.

-Numbers have almost tripled

-over the past decade.

-Iolo Prys Jones, even you have

-started keeping this breed.

-You're known as a Texel farmer but

-you now keep Blue Texels too.

-What's so special about them?

-Their colour attracts

-a lot of people.

-At the end of the day, they have

-the same qualities as Texels.

-They're bred for meat and they're

-much bigger than they used to be.

-They've started winning

-interbreed championships.

-They can compete

-with any breed really.
