Tonight at ten, yet more high rise buildings across England | :00:00. | :00:08.
fail fire safety checks, after the Grenfell Tower disaster. | :00:09. | :00:15.
Every sample of cladding removed from 60 buildings has failed | :00:16. | :00:18.
It is being tested, what is the current building | :00:19. | :00:23.
And the tests would imply that it wouldn't need the current | :00:24. | :00:28.
Are you going to be staying or leaving? | :00:29. | :00:35.
A few still staying put but most he'd call is to leave tower blocks | :00:36. | :00:47.

from the front line in the battle against so-called Islamic State | :01:05. | :01:06.

the Iraqi troops have. They tell us that the | :01:12. | :01:16.
nearest IS position And Hamilton and Vettel tussle, | :01:17. | :01:17.
but Ricciardo wins an action-packed More tower blocks across England | :01:18. | :01:25.
have failed safety checks on cladding, in the wake | :01:26. | :01:53.
of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster. 60 high rise buildings in 25 | :01:54. | :01:57.
local authority areas have now been checked, | :01:58. | :02:00.
and the results show a 100% failure rate in meeting | :02:01. | :02:02.
fire safety standards. Local councils are being urged | :02:03. | :02:08.
to send samples in for testing more quickly, with over 500 other | :02:09. | :02:10.
buildings nationwide, With the latest, | :02:11. | :02:13.
here's Duncan Kennedy. Pendleton in Salford, the latest | :02:14. | :02:26.
location where tower block cladding is being removed. It is unsettling | :02:27. | :02:33.
sight for another group of residents have lived here many years. It is | :02:34. | :02:39.
left us as residents very confused and very concerned about the safety | :02:40. | :02:45.
of where we live. The government has continued to test cladding. Tonight, | :02:46. | :02:49.
they released new figures. 60 buildings have now failed safety | :02:50. | :02:54.
checks. That is across 25 local authorities. Of the 25, 14 have been | :02:55. | :03:02.
named, including Barnet, Manchester and Sunderland. The government | :03:03. | :03:04.
confirmed that of those tested, so far there has been a 100% failure | :03:05. | :03:10.
rate on samples. It is a list that keeps on growing, but it is also the | :03:11. | :03:15.
fact that every single sample of cladding being tested is now failing | :03:16. | :03:20.
that will be most worrying for these local authorities and their | :03:21. | :03:23.
residents, but also the government, whose bill for fixing all of this | :03:24. | :03:31.
continues to mount. In 2009, six people died at Lakanal House in | :03:32. | :03:37.
London. The report author was Sir Kenneth Knight. He has been drafted | :03:38. | :03:40.
in by the government to join a team to look at the early lessons to be | :03:41. | :03:44.
learned from the Grenfell Tower disaster. We asked if the tests | :03:45. | :03:47.
being carried out go further than the current regulations. In answer | :03:48. | :03:53.
to your question, it is being tested what is the current building | :03:54. | :03:57.
regulations in place. And the tests would imply that it wouldn't meet | :03:58. | :04:02.
the current building regular -- regulations, and that is the crucial | :04:03. | :04:09.
point. Arnold has been a fire safety expert for 20 years. He says | :04:10. | :04:12.
cladding currently only has to withstand flame tests from the | :04:13. | :04:16.
front. But he says this is simply not enough. Make the tests more | :04:17. | :04:22.
robust. Test everything, test every angle, then you will know it works. | :04:23. | :04:31.
Today, entire families have been hauling their possessions away from | :04:32. | :04:35.
four tower blocks. Safety measures are being put in place. Many were | :04:36. | :04:41.
too upset to speak about it. Around 200 people, including this man, are | :04:42. | :04:46.
refusing to leave the blocks. Are you planning to stay? Staying. Have | :04:47. | :04:58.
you been told to leave today? Michel Burkard and her 87-year-old father, | :04:59. | :05:02.
Edward, are prepared to move out, but don't know where to go. We went | :05:03. | :05:06.
with them to check out a local hotel the council are offering. I have | :05:07. | :05:14.
actually heard they are quite hot. Michelle filmed on their phone to | :05:15. | :05:19.
see if it was suitable for their family. Afterwards, she seemed | :05:20. | :05:22.
satisfied with what was being offered. How was the Hotel? It was | :05:23. | :05:31.
OK. Not too bad. Good enough? Yeah, good enough. With you moving? Yes, | :05:32. | :05:38.
we will. Camden Council says it needs to MTV towers to start the run | :05:39. | :05:41.
media work but accepts its powers to remove people are limited. We just | :05:42. | :05:46.
keep having the conversation again and again, keeping people awake, | :05:47. | :05:49.
making sure there are people on the block. The fire services say it is | :05:50. | :05:53.
not safe to stay, and they need to go. 11 days ago few would have known | :05:54. | :05:59.
the words Grenfell Tower or cladding. But because of them, the | :06:00. | :06:02.
lives of thousands of people continued to be changed. | :06:03. | :06:04.
Duncan is in North London at the Chalcots Estate for us tonight. | :06:05. | :06:07.
Questions were Camden Council in north London over testing and | :06:08. | :06:12.
whether or not they can force people to leave over safety fears. Indeed, | :06:13. | :06:16.
these are issues for councils across England. Yeah, lots of confusion | :06:17. | :06:23.
here and elsewhere over this issue of accommodation and over the issue | :06:24. | :06:26.
of testing. As far as the accommodation is concerned, we still | :06:27. | :06:30.
have 200 people in 120 flats refusing to move out. They say the | :06:31. | :06:35.
alternative is simply aren't good enough. They don't want to go into | :06:36. | :06:39.
leisure centres like this. The council say they have to go, | :06:40. | :06:43.
otherwise this remedial work cannot take place, although it is still not | :06:44. | :06:46.
clear what legal powers the council have had to move these people. As | :06:47. | :06:51.
far as the testing is concerned, 60 buildings have now failed this | :06:52. | :06:55.
cladding test across 25 local authorities. But you will remember, | :06:56. | :06:59.
at the start of this crisis, the government was talking about 600 | :07:00. | :07:04.
buildings that need testing. What is happening with those? How far are we | :07:05. | :07:08.
in terms of the testing with those? Also, what action will be taken in | :07:09. | :07:12.
terms of those buildings themselves? Will people have to move out? Will | :07:13. | :07:17.
those buildings have to be closed? 11 days after Grenfell Tower, we | :07:18. | :07:20.
still have lots of unanswered, questions. | :07:21. | :07:22.
Duncan Kennedy in North London. The Brexit Secretary, | :07:23. | :07:24.
David Davis, says he's "pretty sure" but not certain, | :07:25. | :07:26.
the UK can secure a deal with Brussels, as it | :07:27. | :07:29.
leaves the European Union. His remarks come after | :07:30. | :07:32.
the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, said no deal would be "very, | :07:33. | :07:34.
very bad" for the UK. Here's our Political Correspondent, | :07:35. | :07:37.
Eleanor Garnier. A year after the vote to leave | :07:38. | :07:43.
the EU, talks about the terms of And Brexit looms overhead | :07:44. | :07:46.
for the Prime Minister. But a week after the Chancellor | :07:47. | :07:53.
said no deal would be very, very bad for the UK, | :07:54. | :07:55.
the Brexit Secretary, the man tasked with securing that deal, | :07:56. | :07:58.
seems uncertain as to whether he I'm pretty sure. | :07:59. | :08:01.
I'm not 100% sure. You said right at the | :08:02. | :08:07.
beginning of this, "We are guaranteed to get a deal, | :08:08. | :08:12.
you can be sure we will get a deal." You can be sure | :08:13. | :08:15.
there will be a deal. Whether it's the deal | :08:16. | :08:17.
that I want, which is the free-trade agreement, | :08:18. | :08:19.
the customs agreement and so on, it's - I'm pretty sure, | :08:20. | :08:21.
but I'm not certain. With the clock for two years | :08:22. | :08:24.
of talks ticking down, there are some key issues at the top | :08:25. | :08:26.
of the government in-tray. Working out what form | :08:27. | :08:29.
the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish | :08:30. | :08:33.
Republic will take, with car number plate recognition and tagging | :08:34. | :08:36.
containers being considered. Plus, calculating how much the UK's | :08:37. | :08:39.
financial settlement, also called And crucially, getting a deal | :08:40. | :08:43.
on the rights of EU citizens We are trying to ensure | :08:44. | :08:47.
that every individual citizen gets their current position, | :08:48. | :08:54.
as it were, locked in place for them, so the anxiety can go. | :08:55. | :08:58.
This is the real issue. It's not about the prospect | :08:59. | :09:01.
of deporting people. David Davis acknowledged | :09:02. | :09:06.
having left we would need a one or two year | :09:07. | :09:09.
transitional arrangement, with a phased process, | :09:10. | :09:11.
to allow businesses and government But he still insists a bad deal | :09:12. | :09:13.
would mean Britain walking away. What David Davis has revealed | :09:14. | :09:21.
is that his handling of this whole affair inspires | :09:22. | :09:23.
about as much confidence The problem is that when he crashes | :09:24. | :09:26.
to Earth, he will bring the The details of Labour's | :09:27. | :09:34.
position remains unclear, but the party insists | :09:35. | :09:38.
the economy must come first. What we have to have | :09:39. | :09:43.
is a Brexit which works for jobs and for growth, | :09:44. | :09:45.
and also for the protections which How that comes out of | :09:46. | :09:48.
the negotiations remains to be seen. With rumours of potential leadership | :09:49. | :09:54.
contenders whistling around Westminster, Theresa May | :09:55. | :09:57.
is under pressure from all sides, from within her own party, | :09:58. | :10:02.
inside her own Cabinet It's clear there is now | :10:03. | :10:05.
a new conciliatory, far less combative tone, | :10:06. | :10:11.
from those at the top of government. She is in charge of | :10:12. | :10:14.
the negotiations for now. But many Tories aren't sure | :10:15. | :10:16.
if she will see Brexit through to the finish, as the Prime | :10:17. | :10:21.
Minister is all too aware. Eleanor, it's a pretty important | :10:22. | :10:33.
week for the Prime Minister? Yes, tomorrow we get more detail from the | :10:34. | :10:38.
Prime Minister on those proposals for citizens rights. She will lead | :10:39. | :10:41.
out in Parliament. She has given the broad outline to EU leaders. Any EU | :10:42. | :10:47.
national lovely living here for five years, will be allowed to stay for | :10:48. | :10:51.
good with access to education, pensions and welfare. Broadly the | :10:52. | :10:55.
same rights as any British citizen. Questions to be answered include, | :10:56. | :10:59.
what happens to family members abroad? What about what date will be | :11:00. | :11:04.
set as the cut-off for that residents? And there is a row | :11:05. | :11:07.
brewing over who will set the rules and apply them for this new system? | :11:08. | :11:12.
Will it be British judges, the European Court of Justice or a | :11:13. | :11:16.
combination of been under to, some international jurisdiction? As well | :11:17. | :11:20.
as dealing with Brexit negotiations, she has to meet the expectations at | :11:21. | :11:24.
home of those within the public and also within her own party, of those | :11:25. | :11:28.
who want a much tougher stance on immigration. And don't forget, MPs | :11:29. | :11:33.
vote later this week on the Queen's Speech. The Conservatives' macro | :11:34. | :11:37.
programme for government. The Tories still haven't done a deal with the | :11:38. | :11:41.
Democratic Unionist Party of Northern Ireland, whose support she | :11:42. | :11:45.
needs to lead a minority government. All in all, it adds up to a pretty | :11:46. | :11:49.
difficult in tray for the Prime Minister. | :11:50. | :11:49.
Thank you. Eleanor Garnier. Reports from Iraq say fighters | :11:50. | :11:52.
from so-called Islamic State, have mounted a counter attack | :11:53. | :11:54.
against Iraqi troops, who are trying to recapture | :11:55. | :11:57.
parts of the old city. The battle | :11:58. | :11:59.
is intense, and Iraqi commanders have told the BBC | :12:00. | :12:01.
that British fighters, as well as Chechens | :12:02. | :12:04.

of the IS militants. The troops here - mostly young - | :13:27. | :13:37.
determined to end a reign of terror. "Daesh came and killed | :13:38. | :13:43.

Mosul back to life." Here's the hospital building | :13:49. | :13:56.
where commanders say about 200 foreign militants are holed up, | :13:57. | :14:00.
including some Britons. "That's what our intelligence tells | :14:01. | :14:02.
us", says this colonel. "And also we heard them | :14:03. | :14:07.
speaking on the radio." "We can tell their | :14:08. | :14:11.

that once controlled a third of Iraq, and that tonight has begun | :14:52. | :15:01.
a counter attack. A car has collided with pedestrians | :15:02. | :15:06.
in Newcastle, injuring six people. It happened near a community | :15:07. | :15:14.
centre on Westgate Road. A 42 year-old woman has been | :15:15. | :15:19.
arrested, and police say Around 150 people have died | :15:20. | :15:21.
in central Pakistan, after an overturned oil | :15:22. | :15:30.

the vehicle, which had crashed in the city of Ahmed-pur East, | :15:33. | :15:36.
to siphon the oil, when it exploded. Secunder Kermani has the latest | :15:37. | :15:39.

to the scene of the overturned tanker this morning, | :15:47. | :15:49.
despite being warned not to. In this impoverished area, | :15:50. | :15:53.
they collected fuel in buckets, jerry cans, and even | :15:54. | :15:56.
empty water bottles. But moments later, | :15:57. | :16:02.
grief and anguish - thousands of litres of petrol | :16:03. | :16:06.
