I see it as part of my pension. We investigate the power thieves who | :00:20. | :00:26.
are stealing their energy and costing us money. They have followed | :00:27. | :00:31.
the wires across the house and they think this electricity is being | :00:32. | :00:36.
stolen from the neighbours. And we challenge to families to see how | :00:37. | :00:39.
much they can save on their bills. It is a competition between two | :00:40. | :00:45.
families. Do you think you're to win it? Yes, we will try were hardest. | :00:46. | :00:52.
`` we will try our hardest. ENERGY FILM one Now, we all know how | :00:53. | :01:17.
the price of energy has rocketed in recent times and that families are | :01:18. | :01:20.
facing growing bills. Tonight, Jacey Normand reports on the extreme | :01:21. | :01:23.
lengths people in the Northwest are going to to reduce their energy use. | :01:24. | :01:27.
Energy price rises seem to be an inescapable part of our society and | :01:28. | :01:30.
recently whilst our consumption has decreased the price we pay per unit | :01:31. | :01:34.
has gone up. But there are some people across our region that are | :01:35. | :01:37.
trying to reduce their bills and they're doing it in very different | :01:38. | :01:44.
ways. Near Helsby in Cheshire, hidden away on a hillside, is this | :01:45. | :01:51.
modest property. Viewed from the roadside it's deceptively small but | :01:52. | :01:54.
it's actually a very cleverly designed and very energy efficient | :01:55. | :02:19.
eco house. Nine months of the year, it is everything you can do to keep | :02:20. | :02:27.
the Playschool. Steve's house is actually very large and you only get | :02:28. | :02:30.
to appreciate the size of it from the air. Its 16,000 square feet in | :02:31. | :02:34.
area which is the equivalent to ten four bedroomed houses, yet it | :02:35. | :02:37.
consumes just a fraction of the energy. The secret to the energy | :02:38. | :02:41.
efficiency is that half the house is underground. It does feel like we're | :02:42. | :02:50.
in a cave. This is the whole point. We're two floors below ground now. | :02:51. | :02:55.
The garden is way up there. The garden runs across the top. The | :02:56. | :03:00.
interesting element is just how warm it is here and we're now outside but | :03:01. | :03:06.
underground. This is the environment the house is sat in. It's sat in its | :03:07. | :03:10.
own thermos, it means the house isn't naturally dissipating its heat | :03:11. | :03:15.
out to the outside. It's in a very comfortable environment. This | :03:16. | :03:18.
subterranean structure means the house is well insulated. The rooms | :03:19. | :03:22.
are kept at a constant temperature and need very little heating to keep | :03:23. | :03:28.
them warm. And this is the boiler, that does 16,000 square feet, but | :03:29. | :03:31.
it's a very conventional boiler Yes. It looks about the same size as | :03:32. | :03:37.
the one I have at my flat! It is. The reality is, it isn't working | :03:38. | :03:42.
that hard. It's got a lot of house to look after but the house isn t | :03:43. | :03:46.
calling for a great deal of heat. It's a standard piece of kit. It's | :03:47. | :03:49.
not out of the ordinary. It's not what you'd think for the size of the | :03:50. | :03:53.
property. The science isn't about the boiler. It's actually about the | :03:54. | :03:56.
rest of the house. It's about creating an environment which | :03:57. | :03:59.
requires less energy to be introduced into it. Steve works in | :04:00. | :04:02.
the construction industry and believes that building better | :04:03. | :04:05.
insulation into our homes is vital to energy saving. I've been in | :04:06. | :04:09.
development for many years and we work on a lot of properties that are | :04:10. | :04:13.
considerably smaller than this. But the technology certainly can be used | :04:14. | :04:17.
and I think with today's building techniques houses are better | :04:18. | :04:19.
insulated and perhaps it's finding more innovative ways that we can | :04:20. | :04:23.
take elements of this and build it into any building. And innovation in | :04:24. | :04:29.
home building is exactly what they're doing in Oldham. They're | :04:30. | :04:32.
taking low energy housing to another level.. This is what is known as a | :04:33. | :04:40.
passive house and it's home to the Momin family. It's been specifically | :04:41. | :04:43.
designed to keep all the heat generated in the home. Nigel Banks | :04:44. | :04:48.
from the building company explained to me how it works. This is the heat | :04:49. | :04:54.
recovery unit in the property. This is used to extract warm moist air | :04:55. | :04:57.
from the kitchens and bathrooms out of the house, and also bring in | :04:58. | :05:01.
filtered fresh air from outside and it recovers 90% of the heat from | :05:02. | :05:05.
inside the house to heat the air from outside for free. All the walls | :05:06. | :05:08.
are super insulated, so there's more than 12 inches of insulation | :05:09. | :05:12.
compared to four inches of a normal new build house. The windows are | :05:13. | :05:15.
south facing and triple glazed to make use of as much of the free heat | :05:16. | :05:20.
from the sun and keep the house warm. And how does this compare to a | :05:21. | :05:25.
house that doesn't have all those adaptations. In terms of bills? So | :05:26. | :05:29.
we expect the heating bill for this house to be about ?20 a year. | :05:30. | :05:38.
Really? Absolutely! ?20 a year? This compares on average to a house of | :05:39. | :05:41.
this size about ?700, so an enormous reduction in bills. It sounds too | :05:42. | :05:45.
good to be true. So the question is why are we not building more of | :05:46. | :05:49.
these properties? Currently it does cost more to build these properties, | :05:50. | :05:52.
to build these homes it's about 20% to 25% extra so the question is | :05:53. | :05:56.
where does that money come from So for every five houses that are built | :05:57. | :06:00.
normally you could build four houses to this standard. So the question | :06:01. | :06:03.
comes to what standard do you want to build you homes and how many | :06:04. | :06:07.
homes do you need to build? The building of this estate was | :06:08. | :06:10.
subsidised by green levy funds. This included the building of four other | :06:11. | :06:13.
eco homes which have enough insulation and solar energy to keep | :06:14. | :06:16.
heating costs down to around ?3 a week. So we can create the homes | :06:17. | :06:20.
that save energy, but it does have a price tag. The passive houses are | :06:21. | :06:24.
the first of their kind in the north west and the tenants, Abdul and | :06:25. | :06:27.
Reema, certainly seem to notice the difference on their bill. Compared | :06:28. | :06:31.
to how it was before from the previous address, it's almost half | :06:32. | :06:36.
of what we used to pay. Do you have the heating on a lot in here? No, | :06:37. | :06:42.
not that much. Winter is here and we can't even tell it's Winter. We | :06:43. | :06:48.
don't have it on that much at all. I don't see why they're not building | :06:49. | :06:51.
more. If I'm saving, everyone should save. Obviously, lowering your | :06:52. | :06:55.
energy usage will really reduce your electricity bill but you can take it | :06:56. | :06:58.
one stage further, and start generating your own power. It's very | :06:59. | :07:05.
windy here today but it's not too noisy. No not noisy, the helicopter | :07:06. | :07:11.
noise you can hear is the sound of the air pressure of the blades going | :07:12. | :07:16.
past the pole. John Leonard lives in Saddleworth, one of the windiest | :07:17. | :07:19.
parts of our region. And he's putting the local elements to work | :07:20. | :07:24.
with his 10kw wind turbine. I wanted to know what motivated him to build | :07:25. | :07:31.
it. Mostly green reasons. I liked the idea after Fukishima exploded. | :07:32. | :07:35.
After various disasters, I thought there's got to be a better way. The | :07:36. | :07:42.
turbine cost John ?50,000 to install. With a fair wind, he can | :07:43. | :07:47.
expect to recover that investment within seven years. But more | :07:48. | :07:50.
importantly, he'll make a substantial reduction to his energy | :07:51. | :07:56.
bill. I usually use 7,000 kilowatt hours per year. I've already | :07:57. | :08:00.
generated in the five o six months it's been in, 11,700, so I've | :08:01. | :08:04.
already generated more than I use in a year. If you have a particularly | :08:05. | :08:14.
windy month how much can it make you? On a good day up about ?35 to | :08:15. | :08:20.
?40 a day. On a bad day nothing at all because it's not generating | :08:21. | :08:28.
This looks like the brains of the operation. Well, there's six | :08:29. | :08:35.
converters. As the turbine spins, it sends power into these converters | :08:36. | :08:38.
which regulate it, into a constant stream of electricity. This | :08:39. | :08:41.
electricity is then available for John to use or send back into the | :08:42. | :08:47.
national grid for a profit. You always pay for a bit of electricity | :08:48. | :08:50.
because it's often generating electricity when you're not using it | :08:51. | :08:53.
and sometimes, you've got a house full of people, everything on, | :08:54. | :08:56.
people using computers and it's not very windy. So on those days you use | :08:57. | :09:02.
electricity from the grid and buy it in the normal way. What we do do is | :09:03. | :09:12.
look out of the window, to see if it's going before we do washing So | :09:13. | :09:16.
if you're going to put the washing machine on or the dryer you wait | :09:17. | :09:21.
until it's windy. Definitely worth the investment, it's definitely | :09:22. | :09:24.
saving me money on the bills, and I'm feeling smug about being green. | :09:25. | :09:31.
We're trying to only use things around the house when it's windy so | :09:32. | :09:34.
the environment is affecting how we live which is quite rare. All three | :09:35. | :09:41.
of our energy savers have gone to extremes to reduce their costs. | :09:42. | :09:45.
While we can't all build wind turbines in our back garden or build | :09:46. | :09:48.
our houses underground, what is clear, is that as the cost of energy | :09:49. | :09:52.
increases, we will all have to address our energy use in the | :09:53. | :09:58.
future. I see it as my part of pension so we can afford to live in | :09:59. | :10:03.
the house that we like and afford to heat it because energy is just going | :10:04. | :10:07.
to keep costing more and it's nice to generate a little bit of your | :10:08. | :10:10.
own. It's nice to put something back as well. | :10:11. | :10:27.
Coming up, how you can save money on your energy bills. We are making | :10:28. | :11:36.
savings of ?15 every year. Difficult economic climate equals more people | :11:37. | :11:39.
feeling that this is the only way they can get their energy, I feel | :11:40. | :11:43.
the trend is upwards. This is a huge problem, we believe that perhaps | :11:44. | :11:48.
?500 million worth of gas and electricity are stolen a year, in | :11:49. | :11:52.
terms of what that means for a customer, potentially ?30 a yore on | :11:53. | :11:56.
their bills, that is a lot of money, it is money they shouldn't have to | :11:57. | :12:02.
pay P For the next few day, I am riding with Piers and Malcolm, power | :12:03. | :12:07.
theft investigators. The most bizarre case I think I have dealt | :12:08. | :12:10.
with is probably a nursing home When we caught him it cost him 250 | :12:11. | :12:18.
thousand. But this is for smaller fry The first three we have are | :12:19. | :12:23.
domestic. A routiner in reading has discovered a single mother of three | :12:24. | :12:28.
tampering with her meter. There was a cooker hose that replaced that gas | :12:29. | :12:34.
meter. Even with gas central heating they | :12:35. | :12:40.
only paid ?15 last year. How many people live in the property? My mum, | :12:41. | :12:47.
two sisters and myself. The meter is back but hasn't been installed | :12:48. | :12:51.
correctly. Because the mother has children she is considered | :12:52. | :12:55.
vulnerable and can't be cut off Potentially this will go to the | :12:56. | :12:59.
police, we try to trace back who is doing it. We find trends where | :13:00. | :13:03.
people are going round estates and tampering with meet meters in the | :13:04. | :13:07.
same way. They will change a range of ?10 up to 5 hundred moun a time | :13:08. | :13:13.
so, so they can do ten to 15 a day. If something happened there it is | :13:14. | :13:17.
the adjoining properties who will be affected by potential explosion | :13:18. | :13:21.
Hard up and hard times may drive some, but we are now in a very rich | :13:22. | :13:27.
part of Essex, homes often sell for over a million, but the team have a | :13:28. | :13:32.
tip`off about an eight bed mansion with ?300,000 worth of cars on the | :13:33. | :13:38.
forecourt. But the house is suspiciously energy`efficient. Can I | :13:39. | :13:41.
come in and have a look to see what you have got? OK. Thank you. | :13:42. | :13:48.
Where is the light switch for this room here? Within minutes of the | :13:49. | :13:53.
team's arrival the power to most of the house mysteriously goes off My | :13:54. | :14:02.
suspicion is that all the back of that house and that garage is off an | :14:03. | :14:08.
unMeathers supply which they have switched off. But where to look for | :14:09. | :14:13.
the illegal supply? I am looking to see if any has been taken up. The | :14:14. | :14:20.
owner insists the meters are the only ones outside. An hour into the | :14:21. | :14:25.
search Piers finds another supply. I can see the pipe. Ah! Another | :14:26. | :14:31.
electricity meter. Moments later... There we have | :14:32. | :14:39.
another gas meter. All the power gas or electricity are used and is not | :14:40. | :14:43.
being billed it appears so they are getting it for free. | :14:44. | :14:46.
For now. But very soon it is a mansion | :14:47. | :14:51.
without power. The illegal supply is cut off. It won't be restored until | :14:52. | :14:58.
an estimated ?6,000 of stolen energy is paid for. These people can | :14:59. | :15:03.
obviously afford to pay for their energy, yet they are not. | :15:04. | :15:09.
Theft is being made all the easier by the internet. There you go. Going | :15:10. | :15:14.
slow now. Video guides on stealing energy a | :15:15. | :15:20.
new local scam can go global in days. It is a cat`and`mouse game. | :15:21. | :15:29.
Close one scam and another quickly opens. The latest comes from Chinese | :15:30. | :15:35.
community newspapers. They openly advertise telephone numbers for | :15:36. | :15:39.
someone to come round, and medal with your meter. | :15:40. | :15:44.
Take control of your Meath ers with these supermoney saving device. | :15:45. | :15:50.
Especially suitable for take away, restaurants and households. That | :15:51. | :15:53.
Chinese scam has spread across Britain. We are from British Gas, | :15:54. | :15:59.
come to inspect the meter. Piers and Malcolm think they have found nit | :16:00. | :16:03.
this shop. Put something on gas That is good, yes. Doesn't seem to | :16:04. | :16:08.
be moving. We will take that and leave you off supply, so cut off the | :16:09. | :16:12.
gas. Piers unravels the crude scam from | :16:13. | :16:17.
China, that is being uncovered in restaurants across Britain. | :16:18. | :16:22.
Rights. OK. Remove that. Now we are going to remove the index mechanism. | :16:23. | :16:27.
He exposes the cogs that drive the meter mechanism. It is the moment of | :16:28. | :16:33.
truth. I don't know if you can see that. It has teeth that have been | :16:34. | :16:36.
taken off. Cut off half the teeth and you halve the bill. This one has | :16:37. | :16:43.
just a single tooth left. So only a fraction of the gas is being | :16:44. | :16:48.
recorded on that. You still don t know anything about it. You don t | :16:49. | :16:53.
know anything about it? Or who could have done it? Malcolm produces an | :16:54. | :17:01.
estimated bill. It is ?1782. 10 for the past four months. Can you pay | :17:02. | :17:07.
that now? Otherwise I have to tell theening sneers to make sure that is | :17:08. | :17:10.
capped off. We will walk away with the meter. It sounds tough, but they | :17:11. | :17:14.
can only charge for the few months he has been with British Gas. This | :17:15. | :17:21.
former Merseyside detective warns that thieves keep changing supplier. | :17:22. | :17:25.
If you can change supplier easily, as it is now, if you get caught | :17:26. | :17:31.
abstracting electricity from one company, you can leave and go to | :17:32. | :17:34.
another one, this is a problem. If you say to them, right, there is a | :17:35. | :17:41.
?1 million of electricity been abstracted. Their profits will be | :17:42. | :17:46.
the same, because that ?1 million loss will be spread over all the | :17:47. | :17:50.
honest bill paying customers, so they have lost nothing. Back at the | :17:51. | :17:54.
chip shop the owner's credit card means this is one bill we won't be | :17:55. | :17:59.
picking up. Incommunity from prosecution not included. | :18:00. | :18:04.
`` immunity. There is one area of power theft | :18:05. | :18:08.
where police not power companies take the lead. Step away from the | :18:09. | :18:13.
door. Nationwide, police uncover over 20 | :18:14. | :18:18.
cannabis farms a day. Most stealing their electricity It | :18:19. | :18:26.
is thought a third of the electricity stolen in Britain goes | :18:27. | :18:29.
on cannabis farms. So they followed the wires round the | :18:30. | :18:34.
house and they think this electricity is being stolen from the | :18:35. | :18:38.
neighbours. You can see there is a power cable, that is coming from | :18:39. | :18:42.
next door so they have spurred the power from next door. | :18:43. | :18:47.
Police are under orders to destroy everything that makes growing | :18:48. | :18:54.
cannabis possible. Power theft. Whether on cannabis farms or the | :18:55. | :18:58.
chip shop it is booming, and unless detected we get the bill. A total | :18:59. | :19:06.
invoice amount is ?700. Catching the thieves is costly. Few will ever see | :19:07. | :19:10.
prison, here cheeky enough to ask for a discount. We don't offer | :19:11. | :19:15.
discount. It is too much. Do you want to get | :19:16. | :19:20.
the electrician in? The lights go out but the bill is still on us Cut | :19:21. | :19:31.
the electricity off. OK? And finally, if you are counting the | :19:32. | :19:35.
pennies after Christmas, as the utility bills roll in, listen up. We | :19:36. | :19:41.
have got some tips on how you can save money, lighting and heating | :19:42. | :19:44.
your home legally. We sent Michelle out with their calculator for | :19:45. | :19:48.
advice. Billions of people facing higher | :19:49. | :19:52.
energy after one of the big firms puts up prices... It is the story | :19:53. | :19:56.
the moment. Frightening headlines about the spiralling cost of energy | :19:57. | :20:00.
bills, if like me you are worried about how to meet the price rises | :20:01. | :20:04.
don't panic. I am going to show you how to save hundreds on those bills. | :20:05. | :20:09.
So cuddle up, keep warm, sit tight, and take note. | :20:10. | :20:13.
I am going to set two families against each other. It is a North | :20:14. | :20:19.
East`north`west competition to see who can save the most from their | :20:20. | :20:23.
electricity bills. First up the Clodes from Cumbria. | :20:24. | :20:27.
Ruby the cocker spaniel. Mum and dad Debs and Andy, 11`year`old Ethan, | :20:28. | :20:32.
and Gracey who is nine. The recent headlines have forced Debs to have a | :20:33. | :20:36.
rethink. I have had my estimate in for my next year's bill on average, | :20:37. | :20:42.
and enough is enough, it is dead money to me. We are not seeing | :20:43. | :20:46.
anything for it. They live in a four bedroom house and spend round ? 25 a | :20:47. | :20:52.
month on gas and electricity. So what have we got in here? In here | :20:53. | :20:59.
we have got freezer. Washing machine. Tumble drier. Ice making | :21:00. | :21:06.
machine. An ice making machine? An ice making machine and another | :21:07. | :21:09.
fridge. A A lot of electricity going on, how often do you use the tumble | :21:10. | :21:15.
drier? Three times a day. We just walked into the room and the TV was | :21:16. | :21:19.
on but no`one is in the room: Children. They can leave the TV on | :21:20. | :21:23.
and walk out of the room. Yes. So that is something that needs to be | :21:24. | :21:30.
stamped out. Yes. How often do you have this on? All day. All day? Yes, | :21:31. | :21:35.
the only reason it is on is I don't know how to programme it so go off, | :21:36. | :21:38.
so there is another... This isn t good. It is not. This is an energy | :21:39. | :21:45.
hungry family. Even Ruby uses electricity. How is she going to be | :21:46. | :21:51.
involved. We leave the radio on for Ruby, so she has a bit of company. | :21:52. | :21:57.
She can have Jeremy Vine on. So how is the competition going to work? We | :21:58. | :22:01.
have got these gadgets to measure how much it is costing. It's a | :22:02. | :22:06.
competition between two family, the Cumbrians against the Geordie, do | :22:07. | :22:10.
you think you will win it? Yes, we will try our hardest. I will see you | :22:11. | :22:15.
in a week. Good luck with it. Next up the opponents the Geordie, | :22:16. | :22:19.
the Haley family. Dad David, mum Sam, and 17`year`old | :22:20. | :22:24.
Jake. This is another energy guzzling house. With bills of about | :22:25. | :22:29.
?250 a month. There is a lot of lights in the house. A lot of power | :22:30. | :22:36.
being used. A lot of wastage. You mention the gadget, take me through | :22:37. | :22:46.
the list. How many you got? IPads, iPods, laptops, Xbox. I have been | :22:47. | :22:51.
known to get to work and realise that I haven't switched them off and | :22:52. | :22:56.
had to ring somebody up to go and switch them off. Oh dear, how often | :22:57. | :23:04.
does that happen? Er... Regularly! Now this is a pretty big TV isn t | :23:05. | :23:09.
it. Yes, it is a decent size. Yes. And usings a lot of power, there is | :23:10. | :23:15.
so much going on I hadn't realise draws so much power. So it is eating | :23:16. | :23:20.
up energy. So what is the plan to do with this then? When we are out | :23:21. | :23:24.
this stuff is still working away but it is on stand by, and it is using | :23:25. | :23:30.
power, so we will be using a timer. So how often do you use this tumble | :23:31. | :23:35.
drier? We use in probably once a week, all day on a Sunday. All day? | :23:36. | :23:40.
Yes, it just goes from first thing in the morning right through the | :23:41. | :23:43.
rest of the day. Do you think you can win? Without a shadow of a | :23:44. | :23:47.
doubt. In fact switch that camera off! Yes, get the lights off now. So | :23:48. | :23:57.
the challenge has been set. Can you knock the lights off | :23:58. | :24:13.
upstairs sweetheart? It is judgment day for Ruby. I know you are asking | :24:14. | :24:18.
who is Ruby. Her dad is working out how much it costs to run the radio. | :24:19. | :24:24.
Well... The cloed family are keeping the radio on just for you. In | :24:25. | :24:33.
couple. It is telling me it costs 2.3 persons per day. On that basis | :24:34. | :24:36.
we can leave it on for her. It has been a week since I saw my two | :24:37. | :24:41.
families so I am back to see how much they have saved. I have brought | :24:42. | :24:46.
a friend alone. Catherine dug prn the Energy Saving Trust. | :24:47. | :24:50.
And it is just as well she has come. Her advice is badly needed. Your | :24:51. | :24:54.
electricity use has gone up and gone up by a considerable amount. | :24:55. | :24:59.
And this could be one of the main culprits. Lovely free Debs. How many | :25:00. | :25:04.
sets of lights have you gone on there. Four sets of one hundred So | :25:05. | :25:12.
four hundred lights on one tree What is better? This is congratulate | :25:13. | :25:16.
over your the fireplace you have some of the modern light, you can | :25:17. | :25:25.
say 85% by using them Debs hasn t worked out the time forethe | :25:26. | :25:28.
underfloor heating in the bathroom Great if you can get it down from | :25:29. | :25:33.
24/7, that is huge, that will be huge on the bill. What we can do is | :25:34. | :25:37.
maybe switch the one off downstairs. Definitely, I think that sounds | :25:38. | :25:42.
amazing, you will see a huge drop. She has a money saving plan for | :25:43. | :25:48.
washing. I have purchased a pully, an old maiden's pully, that will go | :25:49. | :25:53.
up in the ceiling, if we are the heating on it will generate enough | :25:54. | :25:57.
for them to be dry. If you can use that all the time, I know that might | :25:58. | :26:01.
not be President Obama I `` practical, if you use it half the | :26:02. | :26:04.
time you will see a massive saving when we come back. That is the my | :26:05. | :26:09.
biggest downfall. In the North East electricity consumption has been | :26:10. | :26:17.
going the wrong way. Plasma TVs on a much Scottish Football Associationer | :26:18. | :26:22.
sail would cost ?95 month to run. Switching to an LCD TV would knock | :26:23. | :26:27.
two thirds of the bill off. Bay individual has promised to fit a | :26:28. | :26:33.
timer to his telly. You might have considered washing the loads on 35 | :26:34. | :26:37.
degrees. That can save you ?13 a year. Do you think that is something | :26:38. | :26:42.
you can consider and work in? Yes, we could try that. In the bathroom | :26:43. | :26:47.
there is a big saving to be made. My son likes to be in the shower longer | :26:48. | :26:54.
than I, but yes, so they are used twice a day. People don't realise | :26:55. | :27:01.
within one day if someone has shaved off one minute per shower a day that | :27:02. | :27:06.
is saving ?15 a year. You are looking at ?90 and ?120 a year. I am | :27:07. | :27:12.
back to see if they have listened. Do you think you have won the | :27:13. | :27:15.
challenge? I would like to think we have. Perhaps the drier has done it. | :27:16. | :27:21.
Tumble drier doesn't get used any more. I would love to think we have | :27:22. | :27:25.
beaten the other family. I am trying to read your face and I am not sure. | :27:26. | :27:32.
Unfortunately you have lost. Oh no! You haven't managed to save enough | :27:33. | :27:39.
energy. You guys won. Get in! Get in! How do you feel about that? That | :27:40. | :27:46.
is good Perhaps this year we will turn it off in the summer. | :27:47. | :27:52.
So you have saved ?7 a week which is nearly ?360 so that is impressive. | :27:53. | :27:58.
It is. When you say it in terms of ?7 a week it doesn't sound a lot but | :27:59. | :28:04.
you start to think about the annual amount it does mount up I makes a | :28:05. | :28:08.
difference. So congratulations to you and your family and keep it up. | :28:09. | :28:14.
Thank you and the Geordies have won. So without even changing your | :28:15. | :28:19.
supplier acting on the simple tips and being more thoughtful you too | :28:20. | :28:22.
could save yourself hundreds of pounds. Why not give it a go. I | :28:23. | :28:27.
think I will try some of those tips myself. Well, that is all from us | :28:28. | :28:31.
for this week but we are back next Monday at 7. 30. Until then, | :28:32. | :28:34.
goodbye. Next week, David Hockney's muse and | :28:35. | :28:43.
60s fashion I concealia birth well recalls growing up in Salford. Used | :28:44. | :28:49.
to see Lowry going up the step, the crescent reminds me of him. | :28:50. | :29:04.
Hello, I'm Ellie Crisell with your 90-second update. | :29:05. | :29:08.
The mother of Mikaeel Kular has appeared in court charged with his | :29:09. | :29:12.
murder. The three-year-old's body was found in Fife on Friday. Rosdeep | :29:13. | :29:20.
Kular was remanded in custody. Suspended for refusing to apologise | :29:21. | :29:23.
