The workers at Welsh Country Foods had hoped to hear good news today,

that a new buyer would be found. And that work would continue in

future. But they've received bad news. I have children and a house

to run. I have a two-year-old boy and a little girl on the way. What

can I say? The Dutch company which runs the abattoir would all its

sites in Britain up for sale last year. We have left - that we have

let the workforce and unions know that we are going into a 90 day

consultation period. We will be looking at what the options are.

ASDA said this was not an easy decision. 350 people are employed

at this site, and losing these jobs will be a blow to the local economy.

It is a concern. This company has been here for a long time. This

site has been operational for many years. We hope to find someone to

take over the site. There are grants available, we will have to

work with the Welsh government to try and get some eight. But the

company did not want this. We will have to look again at the business

plan, to make sure we retain these jobs on Anglesey. This is the

largest remaining abattoir in North Wales. I take around 2500 lambs

there every year. The prospect of losing this company is frightening.

failings have taken place and young people have suffered. Things have

moved forward. We have learnt in Wales since an earlier report that

we have to be very careful, that we have to make sure we are not

complacent and must still listen to the voices of young people. It is

important that people have these skills and support, to listen to

launched at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay. It is important for

young people to have an opportunity to be able to gain information, to

help them with any decisions they need to make. The aim is to use
