stories here in the BBC Newsroom. As the violence in Syria continues -

the US says it will suspend talks with Russia aimed at ending

the conflict. In Colombia, the people

one of these in the Atlantic. Hurricane Matthew crossing

big spectator sport? For weeks, we have been telling

you about the historic peace agreement in Colombia,

between the government and the FARC rebels -

which this weekend, was supposed to get the endorsement

of the public. The polls had suggested the majority

were in favour. But in the end -

and by the narrowest of margins - This tweet came from our chief

It was rejected by just 54,000 votes.

It's quite a shock, very unexpected result for us. We have been working

with President Santos and the negotiation team for the last four

years. Therefore, it's been enormous. Both parties, the

government and the FARC, have gone a long way to get to this agreement.

Of course, it was not a surrender by the FARC. It was a negotiation that

took place with the support of the international community, and to get

to the level that it was possible, the president always said, let's get

as much justice as possible in order to achieve peace. This is what we

were able to get with the transition to the justice system, and with us

says it's getting tougher for female She's launched a new initiative

to encourage more women Nick Parrott went along to find

out what it's about. It's a start of the day with a

difference. No traffic jams for these schoolgirls. They are being

encouraged to zoom into careers in motorsport at a karting track in

Manchester. It is part of the dead to be different initiative which

aims to develop female talents -- Dare to be different. It's about

getting girls in at the grassroots level so the most talented rise to

the top, it is about talent and performance at the end of the day,

to find the most talented we need more entering the sport. The scheme

entered in January this year, in partnership with the Motorsports

Association and is generating plenty of enthusiasm. It is nice to do with

all of the girls. It's been great. We are having fun, we have tried

something we've not done before. We did this thing where we would do a

pit stop challenge, we had to change the wheels and run, it was mad.

Natalie McLaurin is one of the project's ambassadors. Paralysed

from the chest down, she was the first woman with a spinal-cord

injury to be granted a racing licence in the UK. But she believes

driving is not the only route to success in the sport. It's not just

about getting girls to become race drivers or go-karting. It is about

getting them to think differently about the industries that are

accessible to everyone. Engineering, presenting the F1 Channel as a raise

reporter, any of those things are achievable for anyone. It is not a

male only sport, it is mail. -- male dominated, but it is changing. How

long until we see a woman racing in Formula 1? Talented girls are coming

through but it is the question of whether they can get into Formula 1.

With the current car, it is definitely possible for a woman to

compete successfully in Formula 1. Technical regulations are changing,

cars have more downforce and bigger tyres, the lap times will be much

quicker. I cannot then judge whether it is something manageable for a

female driver. There is plenty of challenges ahead. It is hoped the

next generation will drive female talents to the front of the sport.

Nick Parrott, BBC News. It's official: drone racing will now

be a televised sport. FUNKY MUSIC

Perfect, ready to go. It's an absolute adrenaline rush. I

personally think that the sport is going to be one of the biggest in

the world. Throwing racing, -- drone racing is the art of racing your

quad copter as fast as you can around the track in a first person

view. This is my racing drone, it does 100s extent kilometres per

hour. It has a camera which transmits to these goggles. -- 160.

You have quick reaction times with your sticks. To reach the pinnacle,

you have to train a lot. That looks fun, doesn't it? Let's speak to the

drone racing league chief executive and founder. When you say the drone

racing league, it is a leak? Yes, it is highly competitive races, similar

to what you see with MotoGP and Formula 1. It looks good fun, how do

they compete? Each pilot has their own quad copter drone, they go very

fast, 80-100 mph. The pilot sees what the drone seas, the camera and

a video feed to a pair of goggles. It is like sitting in a cockpit.

They race through obstacles? Convex 3-D courses, we have races in NFL

stadiums or abandoned factories. Any place you can carve a cool 3-D line.

Other audiences? Yes, but the most exciting thing is we get to race

them in a way you could not raise any other craft. Through hallways,

round corners, things like that. It is so new, a lot of people have not

heard of it, how have you managed to get such a huge TV deal? It is a

huge underground sport, a couple of hundred people around the world do

this regularly. We created version that can be seen on TV so people

know how exciting it is. Tell us about this drone. They are small,

they come in different shapes and sizes? Everyone in our league races

the same drone, we have designed and built it, it is called the race two,

it weighs just less than a kilogram. What kind of speeds are they doing

there? They top out at 120 kilometres per hour. Extraordinary,

so health and safety goes out the window? LAUGHTER

We take a lot of precautions, they crash a lot, it is part of the

sport. What do they race for, what is the price? Where do the

competitors come from? All over the world, we've had them from eight

different countries -- what is the prize. The winner this season gets a

6-figure salary contract, they will be the first professional drone

racer in the world. For these people who dedicate so much time and energy

into the sport, it's a huge opportunity. You said it is an

underground sport at the moment, harmony people will you pulling to

start watching these programmes? We hope a lot, it blends the best of

eSports and easier games with high-speed motor racing. It has a

broad appeal. They are so fast, how do you record a programme like that?

We filmed it in the same way that you would film any high-speed racing

sport. A lot of cameras in special places, that's one of our

expertise is. It's only the size of a dinner plate, how do you do it?

And they train all day every day? Yes. They are professionals? Yes,

most of these guys have quit their jobs and. Dedicated to the sport

full-time. They are so addicted to it, that's all they want to do. How

many competitors in the league? 25. And how were they selected? Through

hurricanes in recent years has been moving

across the Caribbean towards Haiti. The category-four Hurricane Matthew

is huge and the heavy rains it is carrying have already found

Jamaica, bringing flooding to parts The eye of the hurricane

is now heading east, edging closer to Haiti -

where there is a hurricane warning in place and then by

Tuesday onto eastern Cuba. Matt Taylor is part

of the weather team - A little earlier I spoke with him

about the strength of A massive canopy of cloud in the

satellite, you can see in the centre this blog, the eye of the storm.

This hurricane has strengthened quicker than we were expecting over

the weekend, and maintaining its strength as well. It is category

four at the moment, major hurricane. Wince at the core at around 140 mph.

It won't we can quickly. We have not seen one of these in the Atlantic

for a long time? It's been a good nine years since we saw one this

strong, about 1979 since a major one hit Haiti which is worth we saw the

storm -- where we could see the storm going. How will it develop?

And huge amounts of flooding to go with those strong winds. It is a

triple whammy to a certain extent. As it goes over land, does it

dissipate? That's the problem, the core may not go with the land for

long enough, for the storm to be ripped apart. As it moves north it

clips to the Far East of Cuba, C temperatures around here are pretty

high, maintaining the strength of the storm, and even into Wednesday,

it is expected to hit the Bahamas and we could talk of a major

hurricane still on the go. This will not fizzle away rapidly, but

continued to cause problems for a good few days yet. Thank you Matt

Taylor. I just spoke to the weather team, they have told me it is eight

hours from Haiti now, about 100 miles from the coast. So, by

morning, we will know whether it has hit Haiti or not. Keep a night on

between India and Pakistan. The main source of that tension

is the long disputed territory More recently it has led to some

of the worst fighting between Indian It affects bi-lateral

relations in all kinds Today the Indian Producers

Association banned all Pakistani Wiht the reaction from Bollytwood

here is Haroon Rashid from the BBC This political divide should not be

influencing which actors film-makers choose to cast in their films, for a

number of years, Pakistani actors have been peacefully working in

Bollywood. Most famously, they have built a substantial fan bases in

India as well. The producers have all said that

this should not affect their films. There are upcoming releases that

include Pakistani members in the cast. Those films are under threat

right now and it all follows political threats that Pakistani

actors have not condemned the attacks that took place in Kashmir a

couple of weeks ago now, why should we allow them space in the industry

and let them be earning money in the industry when they can't condemn

what the soldiers have done. Is there any solidarity between the

Pakistani and Indian actors? There is definitely unity between them,

there has been a hashtag trending but there are a number of producers

and film-makers who say that there is enough talent within India not to

need to cast Pakistani talent. If it creates a bigger divide, they don't

need to look beyond the border. This association that it imposes, the

Indian Producers Association, are they powerful? One of the most

famous Bollywood actors in the world have said that they have been

following their rules for decades now, they do have a certain amount

of influence over the industry. It's important to mention that a member

of that association resigned from his post cars he was so disgusted

with that decision. They have said the film has already -- they have
