That's all from the BBC News at Six, so it's goodbye from me - | :00:00. | :00:00.
Tonight on Reporting Scotland... . Ed Miliband says, "Elect a Labour | :00:00. | :00:14.
government and reject independence." Yes campaigners say it's a guarantee | :00:15. | :00:17.
he can't deliver, because it's becoming less likely that Labour | :00:18. | :00:21.
will win the next general election. Lightning speed. The fastest man on | :00:22. | :00:25.
earth says he hopes to compete in Glasgow at the Commonwealth Games. | :00:26. | :00:34.
He is the fastest man in the world. Faster than a rocket! More | :00:35. | :00:38.
excitement to the Commonwealth Games. Usain Bolt is recovering from | :00:39. | :00:43.
injury, but hopes to be fit in time for the Games. | :00:44. | :00:45.
Also on the programme... Scotland's most wanted tax fugitive | :00:46. | :00:48.
has been jailed for a total of 11.5 years. | :00:49. | :00:53.
I am at Bannockburn, I head off this weekend's re-enactments of Bruce's | :00:54. | :00:57.
victory at the Battle of Bannockburn, 700 years on. | :00:58. | :01:02.
And Andy Murray prepares to head onto Centre Court for his third | :01:03. | :01:04.
round match. Good evening. The Labour leader, Ed | :01:05. | :01:17.
Miliband, has urged people in Scotland to help change the UK for | :01:18. | :01:20.
the better by rejecting independence. However, his claims | :01:21. | :01:25.
are being dismissed by the Yes campaign, who say he can't guarantee | :01:26. | :01:28.
change because it's becoming less likely that he'll win the next | :01:29. | :01:32.
general election. Later, Mr Miliband also told | :01:33. | :01:37.
journalists that a future Labour government would consider border | :01:38. | :01:39.
controls with an independent Scotland. | :01:40. | :01:46.
Enough time for a photograph and a quick chat, Ed Miliband's referendum | :01:47. | :01:52.
to stopping briefly in Livingston. The tone was set in Edinburgh with | :01:53. | :01:56.
the Labour leader setting out his vision for a Scotland that votes now | :01:57. | :02:00.
and is instead at the forefront of radically changing the UK. -- votes | :02:01. | :02:07.
No. We can change the country and change the world, not a Scotland | :02:08. | :02:11.
outside the United Kingdom, but leading the way with in it. Friends, | :02:12. | :02:17.
that is why I asked you to vote No in the referendum and say Yes to | :02:18. | :02:23.
changing. Underpinning the message, the detail, a higher minimum wage, | :02:24. | :02:30.
ended 20 hours contract, a 50p tax rate, set out last month as part of | :02:31. | :02:35.
his proposed contract with the Scottish people. Edinburgh's | :02:36. | :02:40.
historic old town offered a fresh background for the well rehearsed | :02:41. | :02:44.
vision of Scotland's future within the UK, but away from these cobbles, | :02:45. | :02:49.
there were some revealing insights. At lunch, he told parliamentary | :02:50. | :02:54.
journalist is that, if an independent Scotland pursued a | :02:55. | :02:57.
looser policy on immigration, a Labour government would look at | :02:58. | :03:01.
border post, and he said to look at Ireland, a border with no guards | :03:02. | :03:06.
within a Common travel area, typical of a message that ignored is | :03:07. | :03:12.
Scotland's needs, they have said. He cannot guarantee change, it is | :03:13. | :03:16.
looking less and less likely he can win a UK general election. And what | :03:17. | :03:20.
people in Scotland will reflect on is where we have ended up with this | :03:21. | :03:25.
highly unequal and unfair society is much a product of new Labour as it | :03:26. | :03:30.
is the Conservative Party. For both sides, ticking clock, 12 weeks | :03:31. | :03:36.
today, voters will have had the final say. | :03:37. | :03:41.
He's the fastest man on earth. And now, in a boost for the Commonwealth | :03:42. | :03:45.
Games, Usain Bolt says he's available for selection for Glasgow. | :03:46. | :03:48.
But the Jamaican has a foot injury. And if he does make it, he'll only | :03:49. | :03:52.
be competing in the relay. Catriona Renton reports. | :03:53. | :03:58.
We get the chance, perhaps, to see history in the making. He holds the | :03:59. | :04:05.
world records for the 100th and 200 metres, but a Commonwealth medal is | :04:06. | :04:10.
one he has yet to achieve. Usain Bolt says he has received lots of | :04:11. | :04:15.
requests, invitations and messages of support from his Scottish fans to | :04:16. | :04:20.
take part in Glasgow 2014, and in a message on his website, he says he | :04:21. | :04:26.
is available for selection. Final preparations are being made for the | :04:27. | :04:31.
track and field events. Imagine the Hamdan Rohrer from more than 50,000 | :04:32. | :04:36.
fans if the fastest man out whizzes by. -- Hampden roar. This is where | :04:37. | :04:43.
he would take his mark, and in the time it has taken me to get here, he | :04:44. | :04:49.
would have crossed the finish line. There has been some doubt over | :04:50. | :04:53.
whether he will compete. He says he is not ready to take part in the | :04:54. | :04:57.
Jamaican Championships weekend and does not want to take the place of | :04:58. | :05:02.
anyone who qualifies for an individual event, but is available | :05:03. | :05:07.
for the four times 100m really. The fact that he wants to be there, and | :05:08. | :05:13.
please consider me part of the team, that could add value, and we all | :05:14. | :05:18.
know he is an absolutely fantastic athlete, the fastest man in the | :05:19. | :05:23.
world. And in Glasgow, it seems he is an inspiration. He is the fastest | :05:24. | :05:31.
man in the world. He is as fast as a rocket. A world record holder, maybe | :05:32. | :05:36.
bringing more excitement to the Commonwealth Games. So if he joins | :05:37. | :05:43.
names like Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mo Farah, the man who is as quick as | :05:44. | :05:49.
lightning and quite a character, he could add some value to the games. | :05:50. | :05:54.
Scotland's most wanted tax fugitive has been jailed for a total of 11.5 | :05:55. | :05:59.
years. Michael Voudouri admitted cheating the taxman out of ?11.6 | :06:00. | :06:02.
million, before fleeing to Cyprus to avoid going to jail. He was | :06:03. | :06:07.
extradited back to Scotland last month. Julie Peacock reports. | :06:08. | :06:15.
This man was once Scotland's most wanted tax fugitive and today, two | :06:16. | :06:19.
years after fleeing to Northern Cyprus to avoid prison, he was | :06:20. | :06:24.
jailed for a total of 11.5 years. Michael Voudouri was part of a | :06:25. | :06:27.
complex money-laundering scheme which involved claiming back VAT on | :06:28. | :06:33.
bogus transactions. He admitted conning the taxman out of ?11.6 | :06:34. | :06:38.
million. Then fleeing the country after admitting the crime in 2012. | :06:39. | :06:44.
Today, he got ten years for the tax fraud and a further 18 months or | :06:45. | :06:49.
going on the run. But so far, not 1p of the money stolen has been | :06:50. | :06:54.
returned. Even though he enjoys a luxury lifestyle. Michael Voudouri | :06:55. | :07:01.
spoke to the BBC five years ago about a previous conviction, which | :07:02. | :07:06.
saw him go to jail for a ?3 million tax evasion. Then he appeared | :07:07. | :07:12.
blatantly an awful. Yes, I stole ?3 million, went guilty and -- pled | :07:13. | :07:18.
guilty and went to jail. We has the money gone? I spent it on a good | :07:19. | :07:26.
life. 19 people were named as part of this money-laundering scam, but | :07:27. | :07:31.
only three convicted. Today, Michael Voudouri's lawyer wanted to know why | :07:32. | :07:37.
the others did not face justice. The crime will claim today I am finally | :07:38. | :07:41.
facing justice, but at best, HMRC have turned a blind eye to millions | :07:42. | :07:48.
of lines of tax fraud. An accusation HMRC refused, saying Michael | :07:49. | :07:51.
Voudouri was a key player in the scam. We carried evidence from | :07:52. | :07:58.
across the globe, it was complex, denies crime, but thankfully, to | :07:59. | :08:03.
date, we see Michael Voudouri, who we believe was the mastermind behind | :08:04. | :08:08.
this fraud, we see him behind bars. Revenue and Customs is now trying to | :08:09. | :08:16.
get the money back from Mr Voudouri. A man has appeared in court in East | :08:17. | :08:19.
Lothian, charged in connection with online threats against Scotland's | :08:20. | :08:21.
First Minister Alex Salmond. Steven Thomson, who is 43-years-old and | :08:22. | :08:24.
from Renfrew, made no plea during the hearing at Haddington Sheriff | :08:25. | :08:28.
Court. He has been charged with threatening or abusive behaviour. He | :08:29. | :08:33.
was released on bail and will be expected to appear in court again at | :08:34. | :08:37.
a date which is yet to be set. You're watching Reporting Scotland | :08:38. | :08:40.
from the BBC. Still to come on tonight's programme... A hint of | :08:41. | :08:48.
menace as the Queen's Baton Relay visits Dundee. | :08:49. | :08:51.
In sport, we're live at Wimbledon where Andy Murray is playing for a | :08:52. | :08:55.
place in the last 16 of the men's singles. | :08:56. | :08:57.
And surfs up. We're at the beach with the Scotland rugby team as they | :08:58. | :09:01.
prepare to play South Africa. Stirling is preparing to host the | :09:02. | :09:05.
annual UK Armed Forces Day. It's only the second time it's been held | :09:06. | :09:10.
in Scotland. Visitors can expect the Red Arrows, Apache helicopters and | :09:11. | :09:14.
parachute displays. Ahead of the celebrations, our Referendum | :09:15. | :09:16.
Correspondent Laura Bicker assesses what impact independence would have | :09:17. | :09:19.
on the forces and what an independent Scottish Defence Force | :09:20. | :09:28.
might look like. This is a show of strength. | :09:29. | :09:33.
Terrorists have captured hostages, these marines aimed to bring them | :09:34. | :09:38.
home. It is the kind of situation UK forces face. But what would be the | :09:39. | :09:44.
threat to an independent Scotland? In terms of evident threats, there | :09:45. | :09:49.
really are not any. It is not exactly clear what would be a threat | :09:50. | :09:54.
to the nation of Scotland. As its own independent state. This | :09:55. | :09:58.
demonstration follows years of training and experience in the likes | :09:59. | :10:03.
of Afghanistan and Iraq. But an independent Scottish Defence Force | :10:04. | :10:06.
would focus more inwardly on its coastline and on a peacekeeping | :10:07. | :10:11.
role. That is something this former lieutenant commander in the Royal | :10:12. | :10:15.
Navy believes we do not do at the moment. We have lost amphibious | :10:16. | :10:19.
capability, we do not have conventional warships, and the UK | :10:20. | :10:25.
and Scotland no longer have a maritime patrol aircraft capability. | :10:26. | :10:31.
We are wide open. UK forces have seized one round of redundancies | :10:32. | :10:35.
after another. Just last week, these tycoons were moved to Lossiemouth, | :10:36. | :10:41.
more changes to Scottish bases. But those against independence say the | :10:42. | :10:45.
referendum adds further uncertainty. After 38 years in the reserves and | :10:46. | :10:49.
regular army, one former major believes we would lose valuable | :10:50. | :10:54.
expertise. We are country as the United Kingdom that punches way | :10:55. | :10:59.
above our weight. And we do it well. I know from my time in Bosnia and | :11:00. | :11:04.
Afghanistan how well-respected we are as unarmed forces unit. Many | :11:05. | :11:08.
have wondered why an event of this magnitude has been placed in the | :11:09. | :11:13.
shadow of Stirling Castle in the year of the referendum. Whatever the | :11:14. | :11:17.
politics, this is a time to honour those who serve. They have just | :11:18. | :11:21.
under three months to reflect on the choices they face on September the | :11:22. | :11:25.
18th. Religious leaders in Scotland's | :11:26. | :11:28.
Muslim communities have used the traditional Friday prayers to urge | :11:29. | :11:31.
young men not to join the fighting in Syria. The message was in | :11:32. | :11:36.
response to the appearance of a Muslim man from Aberdeen in a | :11:37. | :11:39.
recruitment video for the extremist militant group Isis. -- ISIS. | :11:40. | :11:49.
Traditional five-day players, the imam, condemning the radical actions | :11:50. | :11:57.
of a man who used to play here. He urges others not to follow the same | :11:58. | :12:01.
path and for elders to steer them away from extremism. Many channels | :12:02. | :12:07.
on you Tube, Twitter, Facebook, Internet, and if you do not find as | :12:08. | :12:18.
United, -- us united... This is a community which has become even more | :12:19. | :12:21.
united in the last few days, they are together in their condemnation | :12:22. | :12:28.
of this one urging Muslim men in the West to join him as a fighter for | :12:29. | :12:34.
the Syrian militant group ISIS. Friday is the traditional news on | :12:35. | :12:36.
holiday when the most number of people come here to the mosques. At | :12:37. | :12:41.
this one in Aberdeen, the message from the imam has been helped by a | :12:42. | :12:46.
couple of hundred people. It has been echoed to many thousands across | :12:47. | :12:53.
Scotland. In Glasgow, the Muslim community offers the same message to | :12:54. | :12:57.
its worshippers in terms it says are clear. It is not right, definitely | :12:58. | :13:03.
wrong, just unfortunate that they have picked up the wrong message | :13:04. | :13:08.
from somewhere. I can 100% stand on that and Muhammad, peace be on him, | :13:09. | :13:13.
never practised anything like that. Muslim community here are still in | :13:14. | :13:18.
shock at the path taken by one worshipper and they have worked hard | :13:19. | :13:23.
to make sure this man does not cause reputational damage to Scotland's | :13:24. | :13:24.
Muslims. A look at other stories from the | :13:25. | :13:35.
across the country... A mid-air collision between an RAF | :13:36. | :13:38.
Tornado and a helicopter over Grantown-on-Spey on the 30th of | :13:39. | :13:41.
January was narrowly avoided, thanks to the action taken by the jet's | :13:42. | :13:45.
crew. That's according to a report into the incident. The aircraft came | :13:46. | :13:48.
within one nautical mile of each other, before the evasive action. | :13:49. | :13:53.
Tunnocks and Lees of Scotland are in line for a combined tax rebate of | :13:54. | :13:56.
?2.8 million, after winning their case for Snowballs to be defined as | :13:57. | :14:00.
cakes and therefore exempt from VAT. The companies appealed a claim from | :14:01. | :14:03.
Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs which defined Snowballs as | :14:04. | :14:07.
confectionary. After sampling the products, judges at the First Tier | :14:08. | :14:10.
Tax Tribunal ruled they should be characterised as a cake. | :14:11. | :14:17.
Thousands of pipers and drummers descend on the town of Forres this | :14:18. | :14:21.
weekend for the European Pipe Band Championships. The event will | :14:22. | :14:25.
feature more than 115 bands and has attracted musicians from around the | :14:26. | :14:32.
world. We have been competing several times in Switzerland and | :14:33. | :14:38.
even in Scotland. And, well, this is kind of a highlight for everybody in | :14:39. | :14:42.
the band to be here in Forres, one of the best pipe band competitions, | :14:43. | :14:48.
I have heard, best organised, and an honour for us to be here. | :14:49. | :14:52.
The ferry routes to Orkney's Outer North Isles have finally returned to | :14:53. | :14:56.
a full roll-on, roll-off service. Bow doors on two of the three | :14:57. | :14:59.
vessels have been out of operation for over a year now. It meant | :15:00. | :15:03.
drivers had to reverse on and off the ferries at Kirkwall pier, at | :15:04. | :15:06.
times leading to delays. Animal welfare officers were called | :15:07. | :15:10.
to rescue a reptile from a tree in Thurso, only to find it was a cuddly | :15:11. | :15:15.
toy nailed to a branch. A passer-by spotted what she thought was an | :15:16. | :15:20.
iguana. SSPCA inspectors say the caller was shocked when she found | :15:21. | :15:23.
out, because she thought she'd seen it blink. | :15:24. | :15:30.
Final rehearsals are underway in Bannockburn for a re-enactment of | :15:31. | :15:34.
the battle that saw the forces of Robert the Bruce defeat the English | :15:35. | :15:39.
army 700 years ago. However, only two thirds of tickets for the event | :15:40. | :15:43.
have been sold so far. Our reporter Willie Johnston is in Bannockburn | :15:44. | :15:47.
tonight. Where are you? | :15:48. | :15:54.
Yes, at Bannockburn, and medieval village has sprung up in the past | :15:55. | :15:58.
few hours as followers and foot soldiers of Robert the Bruce and | :15:59. | :16:02.
King Edward the second of England have set up camp ahead of this | :16:03. | :16:07.
weekend's big Devon Hundred years commemoration. Living history, these | :16:08. | :16:10.
people staying in character all weekend, very relaxed at the moment, | :16:11. | :16:14.
but this is the calm before the storm. | :16:15. | :16:20.
The Battle of Bannockburn, 2014, re-versioned by this trust. They | :16:21. | :16:26.
have been choreographing and rehearsing for one year and today is | :16:27. | :16:32.
the first time the group has come together in its bloodcurdling, | :16:33. | :16:36.
terrifying entirety. 200 warriors taking the place of 20,000. | :16:37. | :16:41.
Bite-size Bannockburn. What they are lacking in numbers, they can make up | :16:42. | :16:49.
for in enthusiasm and velocity. Worked hard, no wind to aim low is. | :16:50. | :16:57.
But it can be realistic. You are on the losing side? We came second. At | :16:58. | :17:03.
the centre of it all, King Robert the Bruce and self, farmer Roy | :17:04. | :17:09.
Ramsey fulfilling a lifelong dream to portray his personal hero. | :17:10. | :17:15.
Something I wanted to do since I was a wee, wee lad. I wanted to be part | :17:16. | :17:23.
of it. It is only part of a big festival incorporating culture, food | :17:24. | :17:27.
and fine music. The music programme is stellar, one of the best line-ups | :17:28. | :17:33.
of Celtic music, great names, two stages. We have discussions, book | :17:34. | :17:40.
talk, huge clan village with over 40 clans from around the world. Ticket | :17:41. | :17:45.
sales were slow when first going on the market, but organisers say they | :17:46. | :17:51.
have picked up and expect around 15,000 to attend. Not far short of | :17:52. | :17:54.
the number gathered on this field back in June 13 14. | :17:55. | :18:02.
I think he lived to fight again. This is just part of a big weekend | :18:03. | :18:07.
in Stirling. Tonight, starting at seven o'clock, and event called Pipe | :18:08. | :18:14.
Fest, about 1600 pipers and dancers taking part. And tomorrow, to mark | :18:15. | :18:20.
the centenary of the outbreak of World War I, Armed Forces Day, loads | :18:21. | :18:25.
of events, with some highlights including displays by the red arrows | :18:26. | :18:32.
and the parachuting team Red Devils. Thank you. And a big weekend from | :18:33. | :18:37.
sport. Especially from Wimbledon. Indeed, yes. Andy Murray is on court | :18:38. | :18:43.
at Wimbledon as I speak. He's playing Roberto Bautista Agut of | :18:44. | :18:46.
Spain in the third round. Our tennis reporter Keheredine Idessane joins | :18:47. | :18:49.
us now from the All England club. How's the defending champion doing? | :18:50. | :18:56.
The news is good. We had to wait until half past six for a ball to be | :18:57. | :19:00.
fit, because there was quite a long match earlier. -- to be hit. We can | :19:01. | :19:07.
go live to some pictures and the news is good for fans of Andy | :19:08. | :19:11.
Murray, because he has made a great start against Roberto Bautista Agut. | :19:12. | :19:17.
He is leading by 3-1, he has broken the Spaniard 's serve. He then | :19:18. | :19:23.
successfully held his own, a cracking start, because this is a | :19:24. | :19:29.
big step up against opposition, two easy games so far, this against the | :19:30. | :19:35.
world number 23. Andy Murray making an excellent start. The already | :19:36. | :19:40.
knows who he will face in the next round on Monday if all goes to plan. | :19:41. | :19:45.
Kevin Anderson of South Africa awaits. If all goes to plan for Andy | :19:46. | :19:53.
Murray, and he gets through against Roberto Bautista Agut, he will play | :19:54. | :19:56.
in the fourth round on Monday against the world number 18, Kevin | :19:57. | :20:02.
Anderson. Great stuff though far, thing is crossed he can keep his | :20:03. | :20:05.
form going. We have had some Scottish success, Colin Fleming, | :20:06. | :20:10.
doing well in the mixed doubles, the gold winning duo, through to the | :20:11. | :20:16.
next round. Fingers crossed, there will also be success for Andy | :20:17. | :20:20.
Murray. If Andy Murray prevails, he will | :20:21. | :20:26.
play a South African opponent. Scotland's rugby team play South | :20:27. | :20:32.
African opponents tomorrow. The head coach thinks they can do it this | :20:33. | :20:38.
time. Maybe. In a stadium named after South Africa's most iconic | :20:39. | :20:43.
figure, Scotland's so far successful summer of adventure concludes with | :20:44. | :20:48.
winning very much on their minds. There is a desire to do well and be | :20:49. | :20:56.
competitive. As long as we stay concentrated, from start to finish, | :20:57. | :21:01.
if we can keep the cord tight right to the end, we could give ourselves | :21:02. | :21:07.
a chance. The tour started four weeks ago in Texas, they have been | :21:08. | :21:10.
to Toronto, Argentina, ending here tomorrow in Port Elizabeth. And the | :21:11. | :21:16.
players have been recuperating in the cool waters of the Indian Ocean. | :21:17. | :21:22.
With stunning beaches close by, this was an opportunity just too good to | :21:23. | :21:30.
miss. In Glasgow, you do not get to body surf and enjoy the waves as | :21:31. | :21:34.
much as we have this week it has been really enjoyable. It has been | :21:35. | :21:39.
their winter, but it is like summer back home. Dry ball, dry paddock, | :21:40. | :21:44.
nice to throw the ball about in training and have a smile your face. | :21:45. | :21:49.
IPod South Africa have not played in the stadium for three years. And the | :21:50. | :21:55.
capacity crowd of 45,000 is expected. We need the bagpipes to | :21:56. | :22:03.
keep us up. Hopefully we will see home support keeping the boys in the | :22:04. | :22:09.
game. The team fly back to the UK on Sunday. As the sun goes down on | :22:10. | :22:12.
another summer tour. And there's live coverage of South | :22:13. | :22:21.
Africa versus Scotland on BBC Radio Scotland on line and on digital. | :22:22. | :22:23.
Kick off at four o'clock. Now, a look at what else is | :22:24. | :22:30.
happening across Scottish sport. Kris Boys is back at Rangers. The | :22:31. | :22:34.
striker signing a one year deal with the championship club. His first | :22:35. | :22:37.
spell with Rangers ended four years ago when he moved to Middlesbrough. | :22:38. | :22:40.
Michael Jamieson's won the 200m breast stroke at the British | :22:41. | :22:43.
international meeting. His last race before the Commonwealth Games. He's | :22:44. | :22:46.
expecting tougher races at Glasgow 2014. It is going to be world-class | :22:47. | :22:55.
and I will need to be in shape to break world records to be on the | :22:56. | :22:58.
podium as well. Former world boxing champion Ricky | :22:59. | :23:01.
Burns makes his comeback tonight. He fights unbeaten Motenegrin Dejan | :23:02. | :23:03.
Zlaticanin in a WBC lightweight bout. He likes to come forward, and | :23:04. | :23:12.
defeated in 18 fights with dirty knockouts, big puncher, -- 13 | :23:13. | :23:22.
knockouts. Need to give him that respect. | :23:23. | :23:24.
England's Sir Bradley Wiggins will concentrate on track cycling at | :23:25. | :23:26.
Glasgow 2014, preferring that to road events. The Tour de France | :23:27. | :23:30.
winner isn't taking part in this year's tour. | :23:31. | :23:32.
And you can read all about Kris Boyd's return to Rangers and more on | :23:33. | :23:35.
the BBC sport Scotland website. That is it from me for now. | :23:36. | :23:40.
Thank you. The Commonwealth Games baton has | :23:41. | :23:43.
spent the day in and around Dundee. Our reporter Graham Stewart has been | :23:44. | :23:47.
following its progress. He is the last person you would | :23:48. | :23:52.
trust with a baton, but Dennis the Menace on his best behaviour after | :23:53. | :23:57.
he arrived by speedboat. Team Scotland's Doctor alongside to deal | :23:58. | :24:01.
with any mishaps. He will play an important role in the nation's hopes | :24:02. | :24:07.
for medal success. We work hard to keep the guys doing what they have | :24:08. | :24:11.
to do, which is performed. How much are you looking forward to the | :24:12. | :24:16.
games? Fantastic, great opportunity for the country. Injury is no | :24:17. | :24:22.
barrier to playing sport, Dundee University student Elizabeth Ferris | :24:23. | :24:26.
suffered a spinal-cord injury and has since gone on to find a local | :24:27. | :24:31.
wheelchair rugby club. I am but sport is such a part of my life, it | :24:32. | :24:37.
has been great. I wanted to share that with others. It does not matter | :24:38. | :24:40.
which board, get out there and get on with it. Plenty of inspiration | :24:41. | :24:45.
for young sports fans at this athletic stadium and one chance to | :24:46. | :24:55.
join father as he held the baton. From its journey, this baton has | :24:56. | :25:02.
wowed the crowds in the city of discovery and it reaches its peak | :25:03. | :25:08.
literally behind me as Ricky Burns holds that baton aloft, proud to | :25:09. | :25:15.
hold it there. And you can see this baton's journey yourself across the | :25:16. | :25:19.
weekend, it will be in Angus tomorrow, in Aberdeenshire on | :25:20. | :25:23.
Sunday, and follow it every step of the way on the BBC website. | :25:24. | :25:29.
Let us get the weather for the baton and the rest of us. | :25:30. | :25:31.
Not looking too bad. Generally dry across most of the | :25:32. | :25:40.
country, brighter skies across the south-west, occasional showers | :25:41. | :25:45.
elsewhere. Through this evening and overnight, largely dry, some light | :25:46. | :25:51.
showers on a north-easterly breeze, but fairly cloudy. Temperatures in | :25:52. | :25:55.
towns and cities around about nine Celsius, some rural parts of touch | :25:56. | :26:02.
cooler. The weekend, low pressure to the south, rain for England and | :26:03. | :26:06.
Wales, but dry and settled here. Still with the north-east breeze, | :26:07. | :26:11.
thicker cloud along the north-east and Easter and side, further west | :26:12. | :26:17.
brighter skies and sunshine. -- eastern side. Light showers on the | :26:18. | :26:23.
breeze, but warmest where the sun comes out, unsurprisingly. Further | :26:24. | :26:30.
east, more cloudy, some light showers through the central belt. | :26:31. | :26:36.
And cool along the east coast, fresh with the breeze. Sunshine further | :26:37. | :26:42.
west, but a noticeable breeze in the north-west and the Northern Isles. | :26:43. | :26:47.
If you are hill walking or climbing, it is dry and great visibility, but | :26:48. | :26:53.
fairly cloudy. Winds from north easterly direction, and wind speed | :26:54. | :27:01.
20-25 miles an hour. Really cool on the summit. Something to bear in | :27:02. | :27:10.
mind. Some good visibility for the inshore waters. A northerly wind for | :27:11. | :27:23.
the Firth of Tay. Queen's Baton Relay is in Angus tomorrow, | :27:24. | :27:26.
generally dry, cloud coming and going, and the rest of the afternoon | :27:27. | :27:35.
into the evening, largely dry, late evening sunshine if you have the day | :27:36. | :27:41.
full towards Sunday, little change. More cloud probably across northern | :27:42. | :27:45.
parts. Their sunshine in the central belt and south. Lighter wind. | :27:46. | :27:52.
Feeling pleasantly warm. For Monday, we increase those temperatures are | :27:53. | :27:58.
not. 19 or 20 degrees, but the risk of showers across the far north. It | :27:59. | :28:02.
does not stay settled. More information next week. | :28:03. | :28:08.
One quick headline for you. The former Prime Minister of monks of | :28:09. | :28:12.
bird is the new president of the European Commission. David Cameron | :28:13. | :28:17.
was against the progression of Jean-Claude Junker and called it a | :28:18. | :28:23.
bad the food Europe. Stage tune for Andy Murray. | :28:24. | :28:25. |
