A second referendum on Scottish independence COULD be held

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says that's possible

if the UK government triggers Article 50 to leave

the EU this year without Scotland's position

Three weeks on from Brexit, two days on from meeting the new Prime

Minister. Dealt a long way from clarity. The First Minister saying

today we are in uncharted territory. Theresa May once agreement to be

reached by all parts of the UK before the formal process to leave

the EU begins and promises Scotland a strong voice. What happens if

Westminster triggers article 50 later this year without fully

reflecting Scotland's desire to retain from European links? Might

the First Minister seek another independence referendum early in

2017? That is why I am also in parallel with these discussions

making sure the Scottish parliament is making preparations to have

another independence referendum if we find ourselves in that situation.

Would you be happy to have a referendum on independence in the

early half of next year? I would have an independence

referendum if I come to the inclusion it is in the interest of

Scotland. I don't think there is a majority in

Scotland at the moment. We have to I don't think there is a majority in

all options were open including the possibility of Scotland staying in

MSPs are due to head to Brussels this week in an effort to find out

Members of the Scottish Parliament's European

and External Relations Committee will meet ambassadors from the EU

and the European Free Trade Association on Tuesday.

Later this month the committee will hold an evidence session.

It will hear from businesses and the public sector likely to be

affected by last month's vote to leave the EU.

Entering the final round it felt more like a prizefight. Phil

Mickelson and Henrik Stenson exchanging blows. It was Henrik

Stenson who edged in front at the turn. This at the Railway hole 11.

It was all square again. It was Match Play golf with Mickelson and

Henrik Stenson clear of the field. Who would make the decisive move? It

was Henrik Stenson. The second birdie in a row at the 19th and a

two shot lead. Henrik Stenson winning his first major Championship

after what will surely go down in history as the duel of Royal Troon.

Hello. Hotter weather is on the way. If some areas do not get to 30

tomorrow, they will on Tuesday but if you have had a sunny Sunday, this

is a view from Lincolnshire, from one of our weather watchers. Not

everyone has had the blue sky for that there may be a heavy shower

somewhere in southern England. Misty, murky, Wales and south-west

England. A warm night as well for that there will be missed and fog

patches to start the day tomorrow. Things for many will improve. There

could be a bit of sea fog turning things misty and reducing visibility

at times. For many it will be a glorious Monday afternoon. Near 30

in the Channel Islands. 26 for Cardiff, Hull. Just an indication

North Wells, northern England, Northern Ireland, southern Scotland

may catch an isolated heavy shower and perhaps a thunderstorm. Most

won't. 20 in Glasgow, which will feel very different. Still reign in

northern Scotland. That gets the message and clears the way
