Welcome to World Business Report I'm Sally Bundock. | :00:41. | :00:45.
Also in the programme we'll be bringing you news of a hacking | :00:46. | :00:49.
ransom that's bought parts of the San Francisco transport | :00:50. | :00:51.
The former French Prime Minister, Francois Fillon, has become | :00:52. | :00:57.
the centre-right Republican Party's candidate for next year's | :00:58. | :01:00.
Mr Fillon won the nomination with a liberal economic programme | :01:01. | :01:06.
which includes cuts to public services and freeing up | :01:07. | :01:10.
He wants to cut half a million public sector jobs over 5 years, | :01:11. | :01:18.
in an austerity drive to cut public spending by 100 billion euro | :01:19. | :01:21.

He is now favourite to win the presidency in the Spring of next | :01:55. | :02:00.
year - addressing a cheering crowd of supporters, the former prime | :02:01. | :02:03.
minister promised to build a fairer society for all French people. | :02:04. | :02:06.
TRANSLATION: I began might path three years ago, listening to the | :02:07. | :02:14.
French people, it might policies, high values and slowly I became | :02:15. | :02:20.
aware of a wave of respondents that swept away everything people had | :02:21. | :02:25.
been dead. My message is simple, France will not be torn apart, | :02:26. | :02:37.
France wants honesty. The current five-year presidency which is coming | :02:38. | :02:43.
to an end has been pathetic. It is time to start leading again from the | :02:44. | :02:48.
front, in a way we've not done for three decades. A lot more on that on | :02:49. | :02:52.
our website. Black friday is so last week - | :02:53. | :02:53.
the discount bonanza may have only have been 2 days ago but retailers | :02:54. | :02:57.
have already moved on because today Online retailers are expected | :02:58. | :03:00.
to slash prices as shoppers log on in search of a bargain | :03:01. | :03:06.
but while billons of dollars in transactions will be taking | :03:07. | :03:09.
place, criminals will also be ratcheting up their efforts to get | :03:10. | :03:12.
access to your account details. Experts are warning that there | :03:13. | :03:15.
could be as many as six and half million cyber attacks from Friday | :03:16. | :03:21.
to Monday as bank cards The increased traffic means that | :03:22. | :03:23.
it's easier for hackers to make purchases on your account | :03:24. | :03:28.
without you or your bank knowing. Globally, predictions for attacks | :03:29. | :03:31.
during this busy shopping week And it's important to stay vigilant | :03:32. | :03:34.
in the run up to Christmas - last year 76 million transactions | :03:35. | :03:42.
were blocked because they were fraudulent in the three month lead | :03:43. | :03:45.
up to the holiday - Joining me to discuss this | :03:46. | :03:50.
is David Mole, the Head of Retail, Good to see you. Good morning. How | :03:51. | :04:10.
big a deal is Cyber Monday because I know personally I have had so many | :04:11. | :04:18.
details to shop online. It is one of the biggest online retail days for | :04:19. | :04:25.
most retailers globally. Certainly, cyber crime is on the increase. | :04:26. | :04:36.
Research shows 13% of consumers have experienced some online fraud in the | :04:37. | :04:43.
past 12 months. That is only growing year after year, particularly around | :04:44. | :04:48.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In the UK, a third of people have | :04:49. | :04:53.
experienced financial fraud at least once and two thirds have experienced | :04:54. | :04:59.
it more than once. So the numbers are quite high. Eight out of ten | :05:00. | :05:09.
would not know how to spot a scam or fake websites are people need to be | :05:10. | :05:12.
more aware especially during this shopping period. What are the red | :05:13. | :05:23.
flags? A few basic ones. If a deal is too good to be true, it probably | :05:24. | :05:32.
is. A lot of cyber-criminals set up pages and they will set up and | :05:33. | :05:41.
replicate branded websites or they may take a completely fake website | :05:42. | :05:45.
and rent it with names we have never seen before output deals in that | :05:46. | :05:51.
attract us as consumers. We are so eager to get these deals, we have | :05:52. | :05:57.
seen the media hype, the retailers spend a fortune on marketing and we | :05:58. | :06:01.
are drawn into these deals and risk to be compromised. Just slow down, | :06:02. | :06:07.
stop and think and analyse what you are looking at. If you are a victim, | :06:08. | :06:17.
what do you do? Contact your bank, your retailer and do it as quickly | :06:18. | :06:22.
as possible. They will take you through the steps. As consumers and | :06:23. | :06:29.
shoppers - this is not specific to this time of the year - cyber crime | :06:30. | :06:37.
is increasing. Particularly financial fraud. There are a few | :06:38. | :06:41.
things consumers can do to be aware and if a deal is too good to be | :06:42. | :06:46.
true, it is too good to be true. Make sure you have security | :06:47. | :06:53.
installed. Thank you so much for coming in and sharing that advice. | :06:54. | :06:58.
It is all was good but particularly the day on Cyber Monday. | :06:59. | :07:00.
In other cyber crime news, hackers have compromised the system | :07:01. | :07:03.
which runs San Francisco's trams and buses. | :07:04. | :07:05.
The hacking group is said to be demanding $73k in ransom money | :07:06. | :07:08.
with a deadline, although it's not clear what that deadline is. | :07:09. | :07:11.
Our North America Technology Reporter has the details | :07:12. | :07:13.
In San Francisco, the public transport here trains, buses, even | :07:14. | :07:27.
the iconic cable cars are run by this company. Nothing was disrupted | :07:28. | :07:34.
but it will still be a troubling day to officials. They are attacking | :07:35. | :07:42.
ransom were which you can put on in even one computer and will demand a | :07:43. | :07:50.
fee to have things unblocked after they lock them up. Were talking | :07:51. | :07:56.
about $70,000. The company says no customer information has been access | :07:57. | :08:02.
by the hacker and it should really have backup of these files. But | :08:03. | :08:09.
there are still a couple of questions that remain. Firstly, if | :08:10. | :08:13.
the attacker has this information, they could sell it on the black | :08:14. | :08:18.
market they could be employee details, payroll information. Also, | :08:19. | :08:22.
if it was able to attack the system, it still may have access to it. | :08:23. | :08:27.
In other news: Lufthansa pilots say they will strike again on Tuesday | :08:28. | :08:31.
and Wednesday after weekend talks failed to resolve a long-running | :08:32. | :08:33.
The pilots' union said the walkout would affect short-haul flights | :08:34. | :08:41.
on Tuesday, and both short and long-haul flights on Wednesday. | :08:42. | :08:49.
Around 350,000 passengers were affected | :08:50. | :08:51.
by last week's four-day stoppage which involved nearly 2,800 | :08:52. | :08:54.
Messi eaters alongside moaning are among the biggest workplace | :08:55. | :09:23.
irritations. Sometimes suggest some habits suggest workers lose 22 | :09:24. | :09:32.
minute of an individual day. Any hearing now? He is so noisy! Japan | :09:33. | :09:42.
is down just slightly. I really mixed day. Not strong for the US | :09:43. | :09:47.
because they had a quiet end to their weak because of Thanksgiving. | :09:48. | :09:52.
This week is focused on the US with a lot of economic news coming out of | :09:53. | :09:58.
the US which will play a big role to the next Fed meeting in the middle | :09:59. | :10:02.
of December. I will see you soon. The growing workload pressures faced | :10:03. | :10:13.
by GPs in England poses a threat | :10:14. | :10:17. |
