in public services and policies that will lift people out of poverty, | :00:00. | :00:00.
that is better than Tory MPs who will be a rubber stamp for Theresa | :00:00. | :00:00.
May's cuts. Good morning ladies and gentlemen | :00:00. | :00:32.
and thank you very much for coming. Six weeks ago we started our | :00:33. | :00:39.
campaign talking about those issues such as integration, radicalisation | :00:40. | :00:46.
and the threat of fundamentalist Islam. At the time many people | :00:47. | :00:52.
disapproved of that. At the time many people said that it was | :00:53. | :00:58.
completely irrelevant. At the time many people said Ukip were | :00:59. | :01:00.
floundering around trying to find something. I think that in the most | :01:01. | :01:08.
appalling and terrible way, it has shown that these are the very issues | :01:09. | :01:12.
which are fundamental in the concern of the British people and which have | :01:13. | :01:19.
to be talked about. We were talking about at that time the short-term, | :01:20. | :01:25.
the long-term and medium term of how we should address these issues. But | :01:26. | :01:29.
today I'm very pleased to say that our leader, Paul Nuttall, is going | :01:30. | :01:35.
to be talking about an immediate response which is needed to the | :01:36. | :01:38.
terrible events which unfortunately are becoming all too regular. | :01:39. | :01:41.
Without further ado, thank you, Paul. | :01:42. | :01:48.
Good afternoon. It is clear from the terrorist atrocities over the past | :01:49. | :01:59.
month that the government is struggling to protect its own | :02:00. | :02:03.
citizens. And during this election campaign it has emerged that our | :02:04. | :02:07.
security and intelligence services are at any one time engaged in | :02:08. | :02:14.
thwarting 500 potential terror plots. They are monitoring 3000 | :02:15. | :02:22.
hard-core jihadis around the clock and keeping tabs on another 20,000 | :02:23. | :02:28.
extremists who have given cause for concern. These are truly shocking | :02:29. | :02:38.
figures. For a long time those services and the police foiled plot | :02:39. | :02:42.
after plot in the nick of time thanks to some incredible work but | :02:43. | :02:49.
now they are being overwhelmed by the impossible scale of the task | :02:50. | :02:54.
that they face. That task has reached this impossible scale and it | :02:55. | :03:00.
is a damning indictment of the profoundly complacent British | :03:01. | :03:05.
political establishment. It is an establishment that adopted way back | :03:06. | :03:12.
in the 1980s mindset that said is the mists should be allowed to set | :03:13. | :03:16.
up home in Britain because they would surely never attack the place | :03:17. | :03:23.
that was giving -- Islamist 's. It is an established wood that has | :03:24. | :03:27.
allowed hundreds of jihadis to return from fighting for Islamic | :03:28. | :03:34.
State in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in recent months. It is an | :03:35. | :03:41.
establishment that abolished control orders even as the Islamist threat | :03:42. | :03:44.
was getting worse and it is an establishment that was content to | :03:45. | :03:50.
whip up crime -- cries of racism against those of us who warned we | :03:51. | :03:54.
were on a disastrous course and called for a much tougher approach | :03:55. | :04:00.
to both security and integration. On Sunday the Prime Minister finally | :04:01. | :04:07.
took a step towards acknowledging the problem. Fought far too long | :04:08. | :04:12.
politicians in this country have lacked the courage to name the | :04:13. | :04:16.
source of terror within our midst. I will do so again today also it is | :04:17. | :04:24.
Islamist extremism. When I cited this fact during the debate in | :04:25. | :04:28.
Cambridge last week I was roundly criticised by the leaders of the | :04:29. | :04:33.
Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats, the greens, the SNP and Plaid Cymru. | :04:34. | :04:39.
The fact that these leaders are not prepared to acknowledge the source | :04:40. | :04:42.
of the problem means they cannot even again to stop solving it. I | :04:43. | :04:50.
want to make it clear, Islamist extremism is a cancer within our | :04:51. | :04:55.
society and it is a cancer that needs to be cut out. We must be | :04:56. | :05:04.
prepared to reverse the cuts to the police budget. This has led to | :05:05. | :05:10.
20,000 fewer police officers on our streets. We told you before these | :05:11. | :05:16.
atrocities had taken place that these cuts were wrong. In these | :05:17. | :05:21.
times of heightened terror, we need more bobbies on the beat and an | :05:22. | :05:25.
increase in community policing. We must also be prepared to reverse the | :05:26. | :05:31.
cuts to the prison service and that is wide Ukip is prepared to recruit | :05:32. | :05:36.
7000 more prison officers in an effort to curtail the rampant | :05:37. | :05:41.
radicalisation in our prisons. We must also properly control our own | :05:42. | :05:49.
borders. Therefore we are committed to recruiting 4000 more border | :05:50. | :05:52.
guards and I want to make it clear here today that any British citizen | :05:53. | :05:59.
who goes abroad to support or fight for Islamic State should have their | :06:00. | :06:06.
passport revoked, their citizenship removed and never be allowed back | :06:07. | :06:07.
into this country. I also call on all parties to commit | :06:08. | :06:21.
to a major increase in the resources for MI5 to help it in its brilliant | :06:22. | :06:29.
work in infiltrating, disrupting, and detecting Islamist terror plots. | :06:30. | :06:36.
We must also open a debate in this country as to whether we routinely | :06:37. | :06:42.
arm our police force, particularly in major cities. At the very least | :06:43. | :06:48.
we must double the number of armed police officers as soon as possible. | :06:49. | :06:54.
Some have said that some of my proposals have been extreme however | :06:55. | :07:00.
I make no apologies for taking nothing off the table to ensure that | :07:01. | :07:07.
our people are kept safe, whether this includes tagging or indeed in | :07:08. | :07:13.
the future detention orders. And we must demand more from the Muslim | :07:14. | :07:18.
community itself when it comes to reporting extremism. Here the Labour | :07:19. | :07:26.
Party is culpable. With people like Andy Burnham pushing the idea that | :07:27. | :07:30.
the prevent strategy should be scrapped because it is uncomfortable | :07:31. | :07:35.
for some people within the Muslim community. It is clear that there | :07:36. | :07:42.
has been a breakdown of trust between Muslim leaders and the | :07:43. | :07:47.
prevent strategy and indeed reports have suggested that only one in | :07:48. | :07:53.
eight referrals to prevent come from within the Muslim community itself. | :07:54. | :07:57.
This is simply not good enough. It is in no way unreasonable to expect | :07:58. | :08:05.
any British citizen or resident to report concerned that another may be | :08:06. | :08:10.
on the path to committing horrific violence. In fact I would suggest it | :08:11. | :08:14.
is the bare minimum that we should demand from any decent person in our | :08:15. | :08:21.
country. Therefore Ukip believes that prevent should not be dropped, | :08:22. | :08:28.
in fact it should be redoubled. Six weeks ago at the beginning of this | :08:29. | :08:34.
general election campaign Ukip launched it integration agenda. At | :08:35. | :08:41.
the centre of this agenda was a determination that every young | :08:42. | :08:45.
purple from every community should have the chance to enjoy the full | :08:46. | :08:50.
fruits of British society and make their maximum contribution to it. | :08:51. | :08:56.
That, we believe, is the way forward. Many of our suggestions | :08:57. | :09:01.
including banning face coverings, Chariot councils, monetary checks | :09:02. | :09:07.
for girls at risk of FGM and longer sentences for grooming gangs were | :09:08. | :09:16.
widely derided by the Westminster establishment -- Sharia councils. | :09:17. | :09:19.
Caroline Lucas of the Green party accused our agenda of being full | :09:20. | :09:25.
throttled Islamophobia. Lynne Featherstone of the Lib Dems said | :09:26. | :09:31.
our policies to stamp out FGM were outrageous and we were even accused | :09:32. | :09:36.
of going to war with the entire Muslim religion. I utterly refute | :09:37. | :09:43.
that our integration agenda is in any way Islamophobic or divisive. It | :09:44. | :09:46.
is about bringing communities together and ensuring that immunity | :09:47. | :09:53.
cohesion is improved. And I predict that history will prove that Ukip | :09:54. | :10:00.
was ahead of its time in highlighting these issues. Finally, | :10:01. | :10:05.
it is clear that we need to do more to prevent impressionable young | :10:06. | :10:12.
people from being influenced from extremist ideas. The authorities | :10:13. | :10:18.
must now get a grip on Saudi funding of radical imam 's and mosques. It | :10:19. | :10:24.
is now time to close down mosques where extreme Wahhabi or select list | :10:25. | :10:29.
versions of Islam are preached. We know that the government has | :10:30. | :10:34.
conducted research in this area and we therefore call on the Home Office | :10:35. | :10:39.
to release its findings. Moreover, I repeat my call which I have made for | :10:40. | :10:46.
many years now, for the banning of all Saudi and Qatari funding of | :10:47. | :10:48.
mosques in Britain. For all of the criticisms I have of | :10:49. | :11:00.
Mrs May, who I believe has been complacent at best during her time | :11:01. | :11:04.
as Home Secretary regarding these issues, they pale into complete | :11:05. | :11:08.
insignificance in comparison to the prospect of Jeremy Corbyn or a Diane | :11:09. | :11:15.
Abbott Government. It would be reckless, in my opinion, to have, as | :11:16. | :11:21.
Prime Minister, in these dangerous times, someone who has opposed every | :11:22. | :11:25.
single piece anti-terrorism legislation before them, someone who | :11:26. | :11:31.
has gone out of his way to defend terror groups in both Northern | :11:32. | :11:35.
Ireland and the Middle East, someone who has opposed allowing the police | :11:36. | :11:42.
to shoot to kill when confronting -- when confronted with armed | :11:43. | :11:49.
terrorists. I want to make it clear, if there is a Ukip candidate, go out | :11:50. | :11:57.
and vote Ukip to ensure that these policies are enacted. However, I | :11:58. | :12:03.
have no hesitation in saying that out of more of the 200 | :12:04. | :12:07.
constituencies where Ukip has stood aside in this election, there are | :12:08. | :12:12.
only a handful where I would recommend a Labour vote. But in the | :12:13. | :12:21.
vast majority of other seats, Labour candidates cannot be trusted on | :12:22. | :12:25.
Brexit and cannot be trusted on national security either. The same | :12:26. | :12:30.
is true of the Liberal Democrats everywhere. So where Ukip is not on | :12:31. | :12:37.
the ballot, I hope that those who voted for us in 2015 will bear that | :12:38. | :12:43.
in mind as they make their choice on Thursday. Whatever the result, I | :12:44. | :12:50.
will be proud of Ukip's campaign. We have set the agenda, as before, on | :12:51. | :12:57.
Brexit and immigration. But we have also marked out new priorities for | :12:58. | :13:03.
our country and we've been the one party with the guts to tell it how | :13:04. | :13:07.
it is on integration and security, T. I have never had any doubt that | :13:08. | :13:14.
we would be vindicated on these issues. And in fact, I'm only sorry, | :13:15. | :13:23.
that this indication has come to seeing and have involved so much | :13:24. | :13:41.
blood being shared. The moment when moral relativism and political | :13:42. | :13:45.
correctness are ushered off the stage and a new, muscular | :13:46. | :13:50.
no-nonsense approach takes their place, then we will have a better | :13:51. | :13:54.
chance of preventing another Manchester or indeed another London | :13:55. | :14:05.
Bridge in the future. Ladies and gentlemen. Under my leadership, Ukip | :14:06. | :14:14.
will continue to be a wonderful party that speaks up for the | :14:15. | :14:22.
electorate and speaks up whenever it's supporters are jeopardised. I | :14:23. | :14:30.
thank you very much indeed. APPLAUSE | :14:31. | :14:36.
Use that we need to have a discussion about arming all police. | :14:37. | :14:43.
What is your personal view on this. Should all UK police be armed? I | :14:44. | :14:48.
noticed there was a poll on your station last night that said that | :14:49. | :14:54.
72% of British people would like to see the majority of British police | :14:55. | :14:58.
being armed. I certainly would like to see more armed police, | :14:59. | :15:02.
particularly in cities, are guarding places of interest, guarding places | :15:03. | :15:08.
of tourist interest as well. I think we are now living in different | :15:09. | :15:14.
times. I work in Brussels. I work in Strauss Borg as well. You see armed | :15:15. | :15:19.
police everywhere, particularly in Brussels at this moment. I think we | :15:20. | :15:23.
need to realise we live in a different world now and we live in a | :15:24. | :15:26.
society where a small group of people hate the way we live, Haiti | :15:27. | :15:29.
we are and quite frankly, want to kill us. -- hate who we are and | :15:30. | :15:36.
quite frankly want to kill us. So, is that a yes? I would like to see | :15:37. | :15:45.
more armed police in cities, yes. You have that in your policy that | :15:46. | :15:49.
you would fund extra police. How would you fund that? We have made | :15:50. | :15:55.
over ?35 billion worth of savings in our manifesto. We would cut our | :15:56. | :16:03.
foreign aid budget, there would be the membership fee of leaving the | :16:04. | :16:09.
EU, we would have the Barnett formula and we would also... ?2.1 | :16:10. | :16:24.
billion. I am from the Guardian. You have been adamant she won not in | :16:25. | :16:29.
favour of the Labour Party and yet your Brexit spokesman -- you have | :16:30. | :16:38.
been adamant that you are not anti-Islamic and yet your Brexit | :16:39. | :16:47.
spokesman has put his bird anti-Islamic blog post out in as | :16:48. | :16:55.
many months. This is like Groundhog Day. What I will say is that these | :16:56. | :16:59.
are not my views. Islamist extremism in the cancer within our country. I | :17:00. | :17:05.
think Gerard has got his terminology wrong, they don't represent the | :17:06. | :17:09.
views of the party as a whole but we do have a problem in this country. | :17:10. | :17:13.
It's something that needs to be cut out and I think what I'd lay down | :17:14. | :17:17.
two-day race series of proposals that will go some way to ensuring we | :17:18. | :17:21.
don't have the kind of attacks we saw in London Bridge the other | :17:22. | :17:28.
night. Harry. Harry from the Sun. You have you have made an explicit | :17:29. | :17:37.
call today for tactical voting. Can you blame your previous voters for | :17:38. | :17:42.
lending their bait to a strong Brexit backing Tory in a seat that | :17:43. | :17:48.
Ukip are standing but don't have a chance of winning? No, because if | :17:49. | :17:54.
there is a Ukip candidate, go out and vote Ukip. We are the only ones | :17:55. | :18:00.
who really want to cut immigration, not this sort of Tory Jackanory | :18:01. | :18:05.
whereby they put it in their manifesto that they want to get it | :18:06. | :18:08.
down to the tens of thousands but never really want to do it. We have | :18:09. | :18:13.
a clear policy on cutting migration. If you believe the foreign aid | :18:14. | :18:16.
budget should be cut about money should be put into our NHS and | :18:17. | :18:20.
social care, you go out and vote Ukip. There is clear water between | :18:21. | :18:24.
ourselves and the other parties, though if there is a Ukip candidate, | :18:25. | :18:29.
you go out there and vote Ukip. And as for the future, is tactical | :18:30. | :18:37.
voting what you get is about? No, this is a unique election. It won't | :18:38. | :18:40.
be happening in the future and that is why a number of our branches have | :18:41. | :18:43.
stood down for this election and this election only. BBC News. I | :18:44. | :18:59.
believe masks that -- mosques that breach 120s and boys young minds | :19:00. | :19:08.
should be shut down other but funding from Qatari and Saudi states | :19:09. | :19:16.
should be shut down immediately. You say nothing is off the table for | :19:17. | :19:22.
Ukip in this fight. Does that mean you would consider a travel ban, | :19:23. | :19:28.
such as outlined by Donald Trump? No, I have made that perfectly clear | :19:29. | :19:30.
at the number of press conferences. Do you think they should be awarded | :19:31. | :20:07.
for their ballot? Yes, absolutely, I think the copper should be awarded | :20:08. | :20:10.
with the Queen 's police medal for gallantry and then we can move on | :20:11. | :20:14.
and talk about maybe the George Cross for other people, for the | :20:15. | :20:19.
civilians as well. There's been an immense number of examples of | :20:20. | :20:22.
bravery that just goes to show how great the British people really are. | :20:23. | :20:26.
We will stand up in the face of terror, we will stand up for our | :20:27. | :20:29.
fellow citizens and we will try to ensure everyone is kept safe. What | :20:30. | :20:36.
needs to happen now is whoever is elected on June eight must show | :20:37. | :20:41.
equal bravery to keep our citizens so, how ever politically correct | :20:42. | :20:47.
order forgot that might be. As for tactical voting, if there isn't a | :20:48. | :20:54.
Ukip candidate in your seat, you go out and vote for the Brexit | :20:55. | :20:58.
candidate. We need to ensure we get as many Brexit MPs in the next House | :20:59. | :21:04.
of Commons as possible. You talk about arming more police. Where do | :21:05. | :21:12.
you stand on personal citizens and gun control? Would you like to see a | :21:13. | :21:13.
relaxation Arr? No. toastie we have said in our manifesto we | :21:14. | :21:34.
would like to see 20,000 more police officers on the beat. That would | :21:35. | :21:41.
cost around ?1.2 billion. We would have more armed police on the | :21:42. | :21:46.
streets with training. Ukip has a policy that if anyone has served in | :21:47. | :21:50.
the Armed Forces for more than 12 years, they will automatically be | :21:51. | :21:55.
offered a job in the police, therefore they are automatically | :21:56. | :21:59.
fire arms trade. OK, thank you very much everybody. Cheers. | :22:00. | :22:03. |
