Next week marks ten years since the SNP came to power in Scotland. That | :00:24. | :00:47.
is ten years where the Government of Scotland haven't prioritised your | :00:48. | :00:50.
local school, they have not prioritised your local services, | :00:51. | :00:53.
they prioritised the break-up of our United Kingdom. And for much of | :00:54. | :00:57.
those ten years they have been allowed to get away with it. For | :00:58. | :01:01.
much of those ten years they have not had an opposition that has been | :01:02. | :01:06.
worthy of the name. But in the last year they have had the Scottish | :01:07. | :01:19.
Conservatives to content with! Yes! And now they've got to content with | :01:20. | :01:30.
Theresa May in Number Ten! Yes! And we say no to their devices, | :01:31. | :01:35.
disruptive, unwonted, unwarranted plan to drag us back to a second | :01:36. | :01:42.
referendum. We say no to forgetting about the north-east and privatising | :01:43. | :01:47.
simply the central belt. And we say it is time to start Scotland's fight | :01:48. | :01:58.
back against the SNP! Alex Salmond this week said he thinks the SNP | :01:59. | :02:03.
have got this election in the bag. He said they are going to use it to | :02:04. | :02:08.
keep ploughing on, to fight even harder to break up our country, so | :02:09. | :02:12.
we have do show how hard we will fight every day of the next six | :02:13. | :02:17.
weeks to start that fight back here in Scotland, because the Labour | :02:18. | :02:21.
Party can't lead it, the Lib Dems haven't got the strength, it will be | :02:22. | :02:26.
us, the Scottish Conservatives, that lead Scotland's fightback against | :02:27. | :02:28.
the SNP. And we're not doing it for our own | :02:29. | :02:43.
sake, we're not even just doing it to stop that referendum. We are | :02:44. | :02:47.
doing it all so to put a strong Government at Westminster able to | :02:48. | :02:50.
take us through Brexit and beyond and get the best deal for our | :02:51. | :02:54.
country, and that Government will be led by Theresa May, and here she is | :02:55. | :03:03.
to speak to you this afternoon. Thank you, thank you. Thank you very | :03:04. | :03:15.
much, roofs, so that staring introduction and for the leadership | :03:16. | :03:19.
you are showing here in Scotland for the Scottish Conservatives. Thank | :03:20. | :03:26.
you. It is great to be here in Aberdeenshire today as we approach | :03:27. | :03:30.
the most important election in the United Kingdom has faced in my | :03:31. | :03:35.
lifetime. An election in which every single vote will count. And my | :03:36. | :03:40.
message to the people of Scotland is clear. Every vote for me and my team | :03:41. | :03:45.
will strengthen my hand in the Brexit negotiations. That will | :03:46. | :03:54.
strengthen the union, strengthen the economy, and the UK and Scotland | :03:55. | :03:59.
together will flourish, because if Scotland is flourishing, the rest of | :04:00. | :04:02.
the United Kingdom is flourishing as well. And that... | :04:03. | :04:09.
APPLAUSE. And that is really important | :04:10. | :04:13.
because, as prime Minister for the United Kingdom, I want to see every | :04:14. | :04:18.
part of our country succeed. I want businesses here in Aberdeenshire to | :04:19. | :04:22.
succeed and thrive just as I do businesses across the rest of the | :04:23. | :04:27.
United Kingdom. I want young people in the north-east of Scotland to | :04:28. | :04:31.
have a secure job and a bright future, just as I do for young | :04:32. | :04:35.
people in the south-west of England. I want to see every single part of | :04:36. | :04:41.
our country thrive and succeed. And of course, | :04:42. | :04:55.
as I say, every vote for me and my team will be a vote to strengthen | :04:56. | :04:59.
our hand in those Brexit negotiations, and my commitment is | :05:00. | :05:02.
to ensure that we get the right deal from those Brexit negotiations, and | :05:03. | :05:05.
that is what is important. As I say, every vote for me and my team | :05:06. | :05:07.
strengthens my hand in those negotiations, every vote for me and | :05:08. | :05:11.
my team is a vote for five years of strong and stable leadership to take | :05:12. | :05:15.
us through Brexit and beyond. Every vote for me and my team is a vote | :05:16. | :05:20.
for strong and stable leadership in the national interest. And that, | :05:21. | :05:26.
that is what this election is about, it is about leadership, it is about | :05:27. | :05:31.
stability, it is about doing the right thing for Britain. And you | :05:32. | :05:36.
will only get that with the strong and stable Government that the | :05:37. | :05:39.
Conservatives can provide, because that is what we have shown in | :05:40. | :05:45.
Government. Think back, when I first took over as prime Minister just | :05:46. | :05:52.
after the referendum, there were predictions of immediate financial | :05:53. | :05:55.
crash and economic danger, but actually, because of the strength of | :05:56. | :06:00.
the Government has shown, what we have seen is consumer confidence | :06:01. | :06:04.
remain high, we have seen record numbers of jobs and overall growth | :06:05. | :06:09.
has been beyond all expectations. When I took over as Prime Minister, | :06:10. | :06:13.
people said the country was divided. They said it would never come back | :06:14. | :06:19.
together again. But today I see the unity of purpose as people want the | :06:20. | :06:22.
Government to get on with Brexit and make a success of it. | :06:23. | :06:36.
When I took over as Prime Minister, what was needed was a clear vision | :06:37. | :06:42.
and the determination to get on with that job Brexit and that is exactly | :06:43. | :06:47.
what the Government provided. That is the security that strong and | :06:48. | :06:52.
stable Government can provide. I think it is what leadership looks | :06:53. | :06:59.
like. At this general election, people will have a very clear choice | :07:00. | :07:03.
between five years of strong and stable leadership with me and my | :07:04. | :07:08.
team or a coalition of chaos led by Jeremy Corbyn. And that... | :07:09. | :07:18.
LAUGHTER. That is what is on offer, of course, | :07:19. | :07:23.
because if you look at the other parties they are lining up to prop | :07:24. | :07:28.
up Jeremy Corbyn. We see it from the Liberal Democrats and Nicola | :07:29. | :07:31.
Sturgeon's Scottish Nationalists. What they are doing is they want to | :07:32. | :07:37.
disrupt our Brexit negotiators, undermine the task ahead, stop us | :07:38. | :07:42.
from taking Britain forward, and every SNP MP who is elected to | :07:43. | :07:46.
Westminster puts a step closer Jeremy Corbyn getting into Downing | :07:47. | :07:52.
Street, and they want to disrupt our Brexit negotiations by disrupting | :07:53. | :07:56.
this election. And make no mistake, it could happen. Just remember this, | :07:57. | :08:03.
the opinion polls were wrong in the 2015 general election. They were | :08:04. | :08:06.
wrong in last year's general election. -- in last year's | :08:07. | :08:12.
referendum. And Jeremy Corbyn point out he was a 200-1 chance for the | :08:13. | :08:20.
Labour leadership and look what happened there! This election will | :08:21. | :08:27.
be made by people voting on June the 8th, real votes, and it is important | :08:28. | :08:32.
we get the strong and stable Government that will only come under | :08:33. | :08:35.
the Conservatives, because we want to build a stronger future for this | :08:36. | :08:39.
country, we want to make sure we get the right deal for Britain in | :08:40. | :08:43.
Europe, a deal that works for every part of the United Kingdom, England, | :08:44. | :08:47.
Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, North and South, town and city and | :08:48. | :08:54.
countryside, that is what we have a plan for, you only get that with a | :08:55. | :08:58.
strong and stable Government. We want to provide that stronger future | :08:59. | :09:03.
by ensuring we build a stronger economy, an economy where hard work | :09:04. | :09:09.
is rewarded, an economy where we see secure jobs, well-paid jobs, an | :09:10. | :09:14.
economy where we see people able to get on through their own talents. It | :09:15. | :09:23.
is what our modern strategy is about, prosperous growth across the | :09:24. | :09:29.
United Kingdom, which is why the strategy would continue to support | :09:30. | :09:34.
the oil Gas UK to, making the most of future opportunities, it is why | :09:35. | :09:38.
we will ensure that we support and give a brighter future for Scottish | :09:39. | :09:42.
fishermen by coming out of the Common fisheries policy. And we want | :09:43. | :09:56.
to support Scottish manufacturing, including the vital defence sector | :09:57. | :09:59.
and the great Scottish shipyards, but also we want to build new | :10:00. | :10:04.
markets for Scotland's world leading food and products, and we want to | :10:05. | :10:10.
ensure that we build a more secure and United nation, and that means | :10:11. | :10:14.
taking action against the extremists who would divide us, and standing up | :10:15. | :10:18.
against the separatists who want to break up our country. | :10:19. | :10:33.
There is only one party that is committed to the union. There is | :10:34. | :10:40.
only one candidate for Prime Minister who will stand up and | :10:41. | :10:44.
defend the United Kingdom. And my commitment is clear, that if you | :10:45. | :10:51.
strengthen my hand in those Brexit negotiations, I will work to ensure | :10:52. | :10:54.
that Scotland and the UK flourish together. So, on June the 8th, vote | :10:55. | :11:02.
for five years of strong and stable leadership. Give me the mandate to | :11:03. | :11:09.
lead Britain. Give me the mandate to speak for Britain. Give me the | :11:10. | :11:14.
mandate to fight for Britain, and give me the mandate to deliver for | :11:15. | :11:17.
Britain. APPLAUSE. | :11:18. | :11:40.
Thank you. Now, as you see, we have one or two | :11:41. | :11:52.
members of the media here. The majority of SNP MPs... Which | :11:53. | :12:00.
broadcaster... Sky News. The majority of SNP MPs... | :12:01. | :12:08.
INAUDIBLE. Do you agree with them? I am a | :12:09. | :12:17.
passionate believer of the uniting of the nations we have in this | :12:18. | :12:22.
United Kingdom. I believe that is good for Scotland and if you just | :12:23. | :12:26.
want one practical fact I see there was a report that came out the other | :12:27. | :12:31.
day that said nearly a quarter, nearly 25%, over 500,000 jobs here | :12:32. | :12:37.
in Scotland depend on the UK internal market. The UK is important | :12:38. | :12:43.
for Scotland. I think we have STV? You have talked a lot about the | :12:44. | :12:47.
strength of the union but what did you say to voters who believe it is | :12:48. | :12:51.
because of the union that they are now being dragged out of the EU | :12:52. | :12:57.
against their will in Scotland? What do you say to those as well who say | :12:58. | :13:04.
you are therefore denying them their second independence referendum? On | :13:05. | :13:07.
the issue of leaving the European Union, there was a clear decision by | :13:08. | :13:11.
parliament that a vote could be given to people across the United | :13:12. | :13:15.
Kingdom. People across the UK by a majority voted to leave the European | :13:16. | :13:21.
Union. The question now is who will be in Government, providing | :13:22. | :13:24.
leadership in Number Ten to ensure we get the best possible deal for | :13:25. | :13:25.
the whole of the United Kingdom from the whole of the United Kingdom from | :13:26. | :13:29.
those Brexit negotiations? We have seen how tough those negotiations | :13:30. | :13:33.
can beat and I think it is important to have strong and stable leadership | :13:34. | :13:37.
there to deliver for the whole of the United Kingdom because when | :13:38. | :13:41.
Scotland is flourishing, the UK is flourishing. We want to work | :13:42. | :13:44.
together to get the best possible deal for the whole of the UK. From | :13:45. | :13:51.
the BBC, if the SNP win the election in Scotland what's right would you | :13:52. | :13:55.
have two block a second referendum on independence once the terms of | :13:56. | :14:00.
Brexit are clear? First of all, as I have said, what is important, what | :14:01. | :14:04.
we should be doing today is not talking about a second independence | :14:05. | :14:08.
referendum, we should be... APPLAUSE. | :14:09. | :14:14.
Right now we should be working together, not pulling apart. That is | :14:15. | :14:20.
why I say every vote for me and my team in this election will be a vote | :14:21. | :14:24.
for strengthening our hand in the Brexit negotiations, which will | :14:25. | :14:28.
strengthen our hand to get the best possible deal for businesses and | :14:29. | :14:31.
people here in Scotland and across the whole of the United Kingdom. Do | :14:32. | :14:34.
we have the Scottish mail? Prime minister, you said now is not | :14:35. | :14:46.
the time for a second independence referendum, what do you say to | :14:47. | :14:50.
voters who fear one now is not the time in one or two or three years, | :14:51. | :14:56.
what reassurances can you offer them? I have said now is not the | :14:57. | :15:02.
time occurs I believe right now we should work together not pull apart, | :15:03. | :15:08.
we should show a strong hand as United Kingdom because that is the | :15:09. | :15:11.
best way to get the best possible deal for people in Scotland and | :15:12. | :15:17.
across the UK from the Brexit negotiations as we leave the | :15:18. | :15:20.
European Union. What Nicola Sturgeon suggests as a referendum towards the | :15:21. | :15:25.
end of the negotiations, how would the Scottish people be able to | :15:26. | :15:28.
decide when they would not know what the future held for them? It would | :15:29. | :15:30.
be unfair. Can you tell us will Spanish | :15:31. | :15:54.
trawlers be allowed in to the North Sea after Brexit? I could not have | :15:55. | :16:03.
been clear in what I said earlier, we will be ensuring as we leave the | :16:04. | :16:06.
European Union, we will support Scottish fishermen by taking us out | :16:07. | :16:16.
of the Common fisheries policy. And just in case you're in any doubt, | :16:17. | :16:21.
the SNP want to take Scottish fishermen straight back in to the | :16:22. | :16:25.
common fisheries policy. Is that the Telegraph? The Brexit deal on offer | :16:26. | :16:34.
from Brussels at the moment looks pretty bad, will you allow yourself | :16:35. | :16:42.
to be bullied by Brussels? Well, I would point out we do not have a | :16:43. | :16:47.
Brexit deal on the table from Brussels, we have negotiating | :16:48. | :16:51.
guidelines to the Article 50 letter and the Lancaster house speech I | :16:52. | :16:56.
gave in January. I think you have made my point for me, what matters | :16:57. | :17:03.
sitting around that table is a strong prime minister of the United | :17:04. | :17:06.
Kingdom with a strong mandate from the people of the United Kingdom | :17:07. | :17:09.
which will strengthen our negotiating hand to ensure we get | :17:10. | :17:13.
the best possible deal. There was a simple choice, strong and stable | :17:14. | :17:18.
leadership or a coalition of chaos and Jeremy Corbyn and I know which | :17:19. | :17:22.
one is going to get the best deal from Brexit and the European Union. | :17:23. | :17:24.
Thank you. | :17:25. | :17:35. |
