As a nation, we face the most important five years I can remember.
Getting on with the job and making Brexit work
is the most important task the government faces today.
Our future prosperity, our place in the world
and our standard of living
all depend on getting the next five years right.
This is why our plan for a stronger Britain will establish us
as the strongest and safest country in Europe.
It will lock in our growing economy so we can secure well-paid jobs.
It will provide real opportunity for all,
delivering more affordable homes
and a good school place for every child,
and it will make life in the United Kingdom even better.
But our opponents are already seeking to disrupt our chances
of getting the best deal possible.
That is why I took the decision to call a General Election,
so that we have the strong and stable leadership we need
to see us through Brexit and beyond.
The choice at the election is clear.
Strong and stable leadership with me in the national interest,
where what you see is what you get,
or a hung parliament and coalition of chaos under Jeremy Corbyn,
which every single one of us will pay for in higher taxes,
fewer jobs, more waste and more debt.
This will harm working families.
That is too big a risk to take.
Some people say Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister
is not going to happen,
but in the days of shock election results
and global uncertainty, no-one can ever really be sure who will win.
Just remember, the polls got the General Election wrong in 2015,
they got the EU referendum wrong
and, as Jeremy Corbyn has himself said, he was a 200-1 chance
for the Labour leadership, and look how that went.
So, surely it is better to avoid the chaos because,
if it does happen, we will all pay for it.
So at every election, whether local, regional or national,
every single vote for my local candidates
and my party, the Conservatives,
is a vote for strong and stable leadership in the national interest.
It is a vote to strengthen my negotiating position,
to ensure we get the best Brexit deal possible,
and it is a vote to strengthen our economy.
So, on May 4th and June 8th, vote for my candidate,
the Conservative candidate,
and together let's get on with the job
of making life better for all of us.
