Do you have a few minutes to spare? | 0:00:13 | 0:00:14
Because this is a personal appeal for your support. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
My name is Ross Brown and I'm speaking to you today | 0:00:17 | 0:00:20
as a young person, a European citizen | 0:00:20 | 0:00:22
and a member of the Green Party. | 0:00:22 | 0:00:24
I'm also speaking to you as someone who is aware | 0:00:24 | 0:00:26
of the many injustices in our world. | 0:00:26 | 0:00:28
Are you concerned that, at a time when so many people struggle | 0:00:31 | 0:00:34
to put food on the table or heat their homes, | 0:00:34 | 0:00:37
others evade paying their taxes and live a life of obscene wealth? | 0:00:37 | 0:00:41
Are you concerned that, at a time when so many family farmers | 0:00:44 | 0:00:47
are hard pressed to get a fair price for their produce, | 0:00:47 | 0:00:51
corporate agricultural giants | 0:00:51 | 0:00:53
are receiving the majority of EU subsidies? | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
And are you concerned that, at a time when the current generation | 0:00:59 | 0:01:02
is burning fuels and consuming more than is sustainable, | 0:01:02 | 0:01:06
my generation is being left to face the consequences? | 0:01:06 | 0:01:09
As a trained economist, I chose to make a difference | 0:01:13 | 0:01:15
and dedicate my time and skills to helping those less fortunate. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:19
That's why I joined the Green Party | 0:01:19 | 0:01:20
and that's why I'm standing as their candidate for Europe. | 0:01:20 | 0:01:24
As the only party in the Northern Ireland Assembly | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
which does not accept corporate donations and which publishes | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
all their donations over £500, | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
I saw that the Greens were different as they believe in and practise | 0:01:34 | 0:01:38
financial transparency and clean politics. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:41
I saw that, while other parties talked about change, | 0:01:44 | 0:01:47
it was only the Greens that actually had a clear vision | 0:01:47 | 0:01:51
about what they'd do differently - | 0:01:51 | 0:01:52
a green industrial revolution to create jobs | 0:01:52 | 0:01:56
and make us much more energy and resource efficient. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
And, while other parties said they cared, | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
I saw that the Greens were different | 0:02:04 | 0:02:05
because they cared not only about people in this country but | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
about vulnerable people everywhere and the welfare of animals. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
As for all the identity politics, | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
I've come to appreciate that we're all different. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
As a big, European-wide party, | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
with 48 members of the European Parliament already, | 0:02:21 | 0:02:24
the Green Party embraces diversity. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27
Do you want to live in a society | 0:02:27 | 0:02:29
which is fairer, cleaner and more sustainable? | 0:02:29 | 0:02:32
I do. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:33 | |
On the 22nd of May, will you back a party | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
that's making a difference for the common good | 0:02:39 | 0:02:41
and give me your support? | 0:02:41 | 0:02:43
Please vote Ross Brown, number one. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:46
Thank you. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:47 |
