NI Conservative Party 12/05/2014 Party Election Broadcasts for the European Parliament

The old sectarian politics have held Northern Ireland

back for too long.

The Northern Ireland Conservatives, and Mark Brotherston,

the candidate for the European elections,

believe that the day of the old politics is long gone.

Mark believes passionately, as do I, that trade and the free market

offer great promise to the people of Northern Ireland.

It is our chance to join the world leaders in innovation,

manufacturing and business.

For that to happen we have to leave the old politics behind.

We have got to look to the future.

Mark Brotherston

is going to be a new voice for Northern Ireland in Europe,

telling investors very clearly that the old politics

of sectarianism are over, state dependency is over

and Northern Ireland is open for business.

Northern Ireland needs real change in Europe,

change which the Assembly parties simply can't deliver.

At these European elections, there is

a new party with a different approach.

The NI Conservatives are proudly Northern Irish

but we are not defined by orange or green.

I am the only candidate,

though I will be part of a strong team of Conservative MEPs

with the power to deliver change in Europe

and a referendum on our EU membership.

At home, our long-term economic plan is working,

with 36,000 more people in work in Northern Ireland since 2010.

That is 36,000 people with a job

to provide for their families.

A stronger economy brings renewed respect abroad,

as we fight for change in Europe.

We have already delivered change.

We vetoed a new EU fiscal treaty that didn't guarantee a level

playing field for Northern Ireland businesses.

We took Northern Ireland out of the eurozone bail-outs,

we cut the EU budget for the first time in history,

saving Northern Irish taxpayers millions of pounds.

Meanwhile, the parties in Stormont

are sending hundreds of thousands of pounds back to Europe

because they can't agree how to spend it.

Unlike them, I will stand up for Northern Ireland as part

of a strong team of Conservative MEPs.

We will renegotiate our EU membership

and hold an in/out referendum in 2017.

At these European elections, we have the chance for real change.

Let's make that change by voting NI Conservatives.
