Northern Ireland Assembly Election 2016: 25/04/2016 Party Election Broadcasts: Green Party

Once upon a time, there was a land with rolling green hills,

deep, blue lakes and sparkling shores.

But something was wrong.

The land was being spoiled.

Loud, angry voices shouted over everyone

and the people drifted away from each other

and became isolated and fearful.

The hills, lakes and shores became dismal and grey.

"What a waste," said the people.

A large machine was built

to end the wasted opportunities that blighted the land.

It was called Stormont.

"To make Stormont work," the people were told,

"you need some very important men,

"and maybe, just maybe, some very important women.

"You must call them MLAs

"and they will spend billions of pounds to make Stormont work.

"This will reduce the waste."

But this did not happen.

The machine often got blocked by some of the MLAs.

They had to keep bringing in men from America to fix it.

"What a waste!" the people cried again.

But there was one MLA who did get things done.

His name was Steven Agnew and he was in the Green Party.

The Green Party hated the waste.

In fact, they wanted zero waste.

Even though he was the only Green in the Assembly,

he introduced a law to make Stormont work better for children,

stood up for equality for all the people,

protected the hills and lakes and shores

from those who were causing damage.

"What if there were other Greens in the Assembly?" he thought.

"Think of the difference two, three

"or even 18 Greens could make.

"Then we could all live happily ever after."

More and more people have joined the Green Party

and it's now bigger than ever, but if we're going to end the waste,

we need more Green MLAs in Stormont.

We have 18 candidates, so for the first time,

no matter where you are in Northern Ireland, you can vote Green.

I'm very proud that we're standing an equal number of women and men

because we believe Stormont should reflect our society.

Vote Green Party 1 on Thursday 5th May for zero waste.
