Scottish Parliament Election 2016: 06/04/2016 Party Election Broadcasts: Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

At the Scottish Parliament elections on May 5th, we face a big choice.

Do we go back to the divisions of the last few years,

to the possibility of another referendum on independence?

Or do we get the country focused back onto what really matters?

Many people who voted to stay part of the UK

now just want the country to move on.

What I want is for all of us to feel like one again,

and work towards a greater goal, which isn't just about me,

it's about every single person that chooses to live here.

The trouble is, if they win in May,

the SNP has said it will kick-start a new drive for independence.

And Labour and the Lib Dems say

they'll let their candidates and supporters back independence.

So how can they keep the SNP focused on running the country?

Hello, my name's Ruth. I'm leader of the Scottish Conservatives.

-Good to meet you.

Many people are now looking to Ruth Davidson

to provide the strong opposition our country needs.

And, perhaps for the first time,

they're looking to the Scottish Conservatives,

the one party which can be trusted to stand up for the UK.

I know the likes of Ruth Davidson - she's making a big stand for it.

And I know you can trust her word.

She will stand up for Scotland to remain part of the United Kingdom,

and that's why, from now on,

I will definitely be voting Scottish Conservative.

Ruth's commitment at this election

is to be a strong opposition which holds the SNP to account.

It's to ensure we get better government,

not a return to division with a second referendum.

Labour hasn't laid a glove on the SNP in nine years.

I just can't see Labour taking them on.

But I can see me doing it.

And, with that, we'll all benefit,

by getting out government focused on your school,

your hospital,

and growing jobs.

I won't let the SNP focus on a second referendum,

when they should be focusing on being a better government.

The bottom line is, I'm up for the job.

Holding the SNP to account,

focusing the government on what matters,

no to a second referendum -

the Scottish Conservatives will stick by that.

That's the choice we offer.
