The government I lead has made it its mission to build a country
that works for everyone, not just the privileged few,
so we will tackle the challenges that our country faces
and build a Britain fit for the future.
It starts with a strong economy.
We will take a balanced approach to government spending,
getting debt down, so that future generations aren't burdened
whilst continuing to invest in our key public services,
like schools and our precious NHS.
Our modern industrial strategy, which invests in the skills,
industries and technologies of the future, will help businesses
to create better, higher-paying jobs in every part of our country
so there are more opportunities for young people.
We will get the best Brexit deal for families
and make sure that businesses can make the most
of the opportunities that lie ahead.
We're investing £44 billion to increase house-building
to its highest level since the 1970s,
building the homes that the country needs
so that everyone can have the security of a home of their own.
We're also taking steps to help young people
get their foot on the housing ladder
by abolishing stamp duty for 80% of first-time buyers.
We're improving standards in our schools and colleges
so that our young people have the skills they need to succeed in life.
And underpinning everything that we do
is a commitment to protect our environment
so that we leave our planet in a better state for future generations,
with cleaner air and stronger protections for animal welfare.
By delivering all of this,
we can create a country with a stronger economy,
a fairer society,
and one that guarantees a better future for the next generation.
A Britain fit for the future.
