Kansas City Chiefs v Detroit Lions Highlights American Football

Good evening. Welcome to highlight from the NFL International Series.

We will show the best of the action from Wembley as the Detroit Lions

took on the Kansas City Chiefs in the third and final game played in

London this season. Judging from the first two, this has a lot to live up

to. Are you already do this? Are you ready, fellas. Touchdown. Ivory is

overseas, we went to get it done. It is a big six. If you are Buffalo,

have come back to score 28 points. We will find out a lot about Greg

Williams. It is a touchdown. Game-winning touchdown pass. The

future is bright and Jacksonville. Joining me to dissect the action, a

two-time Super Bowl winner, and Mike Carlson. Both these teams looking to

bounce back from disappointing start to the season. The Chiefs officially

the home team, hoping to recapture the form that took them to the

playoff two years ago. They have had a 2-5 start. Even worse in the

trade. Having made the playoffs last season, the Lions winning only one

game this year. Finding themselves at the bottom of the NFC North. The

NFL likely put on a show, to date no different. British music legends

Madness providing the pre-game entertainment. After it was a House

of Fun, down to the game. COMMENTATOR: The Chiefs winning the

toss, and choosing to differ. The ball bouncing, touchback in the

Lions will start. -- and the lines. Matthew Stafford leading the team on

the field. 85th start at the quarterback for the Detroit Lions, a

franchise record. Certainly he is the key focal point of the coaching

change, the assistant coaching change. The coordinator taking over.

Jim Caldwell's first comment on the coaching change, said the guy with

the ball in his hands, the quarterback, as to become double.

This was done to make Matthew Stafford feel better. Calvin Johnson

makes the catch, steps out of bounds, across the 30. Some kind of

week for the Lions. The shake-up, travelled to London. What do you

make a border this as far as the players are concerned? It is they

get rid of it, if it is not there. Otherwise you will get sacked. With

fans, a lot of fans of the Chiefs. If you give them free beer, they

will become Chief stands. That is what they did this week. Getting

away from a couple. Outstanding return this Knile Davis. The Chiefs

setting up good field position. Knile Davis them gets to the crease,

and breaks it. 49 yard return. We rejoin the action with the Chiefs

at the Lions 32-yard line. Travis Kelce, another 1st down. The big

tight end. Johnson was on him, but no match. He crosses the field,

trying the linebacker early, putting a cornerback on him. A little

traffic. Travis Kelce outruns Wilson. This guy has big-time

talent. They realise they have to feed him. Anthony Thomas in a wide

receiver. He is in motion. And off to West. Insider 20. To the 18-yard

line. The Chiefs have been a team getting into the red zone OK, once

they get in there, cannot seem to get in the end zone. They have the

weapons, Jeremy Maclin, Travis Kelce. I think you have to be

aggressive, take some shots in the end zone, as opposed to the small

ball they have been playing so far this season in the red zone. Anthony

Sherman in at fullback. Smith, feels pressure, takes off with a lot of

room. Slides are the 10-yard line. 1st down for the Chiefs. Remember,

Alex Smith is a guy that played in the zone read offense at Utah. He

has the ability, all that green grass, he says he will take that. He

gets the line to gain, before taking the slide. The ball is right on the

10-yard line. First and goal for the Chiefs.

De'Anthony Thomas in motion, going the other way. A couple of blockers.

It is a touchdown. We sell them in practice, Friday, working on that

later. Perfectly timed. De'Anthony Thomas takes it in. The Chiefs

grabbed the lead. We talked about it, De'Anthony Thomas has so much

speed, get him the ball as much as you can, as fast as he can. They

want him with the ball in space. Brian Parker, beautiful block on

Lewis. Thomas just jogging into the end zone. Tremendous execution. The

two blockers in front. Really well executed by the Chiefs. Second

career rushing touchdown for De'Anthony Thomas. Extra point for

Cairo Santos. It is good. The Chiefs start off with a great kick-off

return, 49 yards. Finish it off with a ten yard touchdown run by

De'Anthony Thomas. This is really a cool play. They are having fun

utilising it. The blocks by the two tight ends. There are your two

blockers. Easy job into the end zone for De'Anthony Thomas.

Both sides were forced to punt, Time running out in the first you order

-- first quarter, the ball is in the lines.

Three on the play. We will give them four on the play. As the Lions up

the tempo. Very wide receivers in. Stafford gets time, the pass off the

hands of Eric Ebron. Looked like a catchable ball. Very much so. Looks

like struggled to pick the footballer for whatever reason. You

can see the emphasis on getting your star players, not as much shifting

of the personnel moves. They have been trying to highlight the stars.

Struggling to keep these drives going after the first initial drive.

Theo Riddick in the backfield. On 3rd 6.

The blitz is coming. They get him. Two men blitzing on the play.

Derrick Johnson gets there. You see Derrick Johnson, a delayed blitz.

They bring more than they can protect. Matthew Stafford has the

get rid of the football. He doesn't. The timewise down, the end of the

first quarter. That smack of the time winding down.

We rejoin the action on the Chiefs' next drive. Alex Smith taking. A lot

of running room. He keeps going. Down the sideline, what are run by

Alex Smith was out of bounds at the 24-yard line. I'd tell you what,

great mobility by Alex Smith. This is poor defense. A huge void. They

should not be that kind of boy, you should never get out run by

quarterback like the Lions' defense did. They are strong up front. The

backfield have been struggling mightily, we're seeing that on the

field. Alex Smith put it up this time, little too low for Travis

Kelce, the tight end. Sam, you have to wonder, offensive Lee, Joe

Lombardi, very nice man, but tough for Jim Caldwell to fire him. The

production was not there, when you look at the talent on the offense,

it should be there. The Lions offense, I then see a whole lot of

talent on the defense. -- I don't see a whole lot of talent. West,

stopped short of the line of scrimmage. At the 25-yard line.

Jumping across, for the Lions. Jason Jones, Steven Taylor, the defensive

ends, firing across. Encroachment, defense number 91.

Still further down. -- still 3rd down. Everybody up, the receivers,

that is. Charcandrick West inside the 15, he's got enough for the 1st

down. He was chased down but not before he picked it up enough for

the 1st down. A gains of eight. If a loss to ask of video. Last week he

chased down Adrian Peterson. As doing Ansah to cover Charcandrick

West in space is a lot to ask of a defensive end. Two tight ends in,

Demetrius Harris to the left. Travis Kelce is right. Off the hands of

Harris, incomplete. Covered on the play by the safety. Demetrius Harris

is a guy who they really like in Kansas City, they use a lot of tight

ends that. We are seeing Brian Parker with a tremendous block on

the Anthony Thomas's touchdown earlier. -- De'Anthony Thomas's

touchdown. 2nd 10. West motions. Smith gets time. Too high for

Charcandrick West, he had Travis Kelce wide open in the end zone and

didn't I think that the one thing you would like to see if you are

going to comment and constructively criticise this Chiefs offense, down

in this red zone, Alex myth. -- Alex Smith. Because they have the weapons

to do it in Kelce, the guy you mentioned, he was opened in the end

zone. 3rd 10. Two tight ends, two wide receivers in the game. Takes

off again. Ten, five, touchdown! Chiefs run it in again. Alex Smith

is beating the Lions with his legs, with his mobility, you should not

see... Watch Alex met, they get all the receivers out, everybody in

coverage, Alex myth says man-to-man coverage, I see all of that green

grass, I'm going to take off and run. -- Alex Smith. He sees nothing

but green, he thinks, why not? It worked earlier, let's make it work

again. If somebody normally designated to watch the quarterback

John? Somebody usually is, apparently now they don't have that.

The Chiefs take advantage of some room, Alex Smith takes off on a 12

yard run and the Chiefs lead 14-3. STUDIO: The poor start for the Lions

continues, things got worse when Sean Smith picked off Matthew

Stafford on their next drive. COMMENTATOR: Sean Smith with an

alert play. The cheese had to settle for a field

goal to stretch their lead to 14 points. -- the Chiefs.

From 44, Stafford, gets protection, the pass is intercepted. Justin

Houston with the second interception of the game. Houston was there to

make the catch on the interception, the Chiefs take over. Chiefs from

their own 48-yard line. Smith with time put it up, it's off the hands

of Jeremy Maclin. He was covered by Darius Slay. Stafford wants Calvin

Johnson to his left, he decides better, now you have to check it

down through it away, instead he goes over the middle. Ron Parker

tremendous break on the football. Houston does it all to sack the

quarterback. Two interceptions in the game, 11 for the season, the

most of any quarterback in the league. 2nd 10 for Justin Houston,

his second career interception. Knile Davis is in a running back.

Picks up a couple of blocks, nice moves by De'Anthony Thomas. Down the

29-yard line. Jeff Allen with a big block. Jeff Allen with the big

block, watched Jeremy Maclin, their top receiver. Selfless, blocking

Josh Wilson, it creates this. See that burst from De'Anthony Thomas,

we saw it in college. Is he a running back, slot, receiver? They

decided he's all of them, that's how we're going to utilise him. We've

seen them through which to him in space. 23 yard gains on that last

play. Stephen Tulloch is in on the stock. On the 27-yard line. Once

again, the Chiefs threatening the score. They move the ball well

offensively with 170 total yards will stop -- 170 total yards. Josh

Wilson is back for the Detroit Lions, so that's a positive sign.

Smith quick outside, Albert Wilson wrestled down by Nevin Lawson. Short

picked up down the 21-yard line. To bring up a third and short for the

Chiefs. Something that stands out to me, Eric Fisher is a guy, 2013 was

the number one pick in the draft from he's taken a lot of heat for

his poor playing career. In the last couple of games he's starting to

become the player they thought he would be when they drafted him.

Playing really well, athletic, he's got Ansah quiet here today, it's

very tough. Ezequiel Ansah is one of the better defensive ends in

football. 1st down... Inside the tent. Paul's down. -- inside the

tent. ! -- ten. He's going to get out front

and make the key block on Josh Wilson, it frees Charcandrick West.

They are one step of the Detroit Lions will stop gained 13 on a 3rd

down play, 1st goal at the eight. West is the running back. Jason

Dovanne is motions. -- Jason some really good execution on behalf

of the Kansas City Chiefs, some poor defense on the Detroit Lions. As in

tackles, not where they are supposed to be, some bad defense being played

by these Detroit Lions. The Chiefs opening up the big lead. The extra

point by Cairo Santos is good. The Chiefs have three rushing touchdowns

in the game. Charcandrick West taking it into the end zone. It is

24-3. A commanding lead for the Chiefs, we rejoined the action.

First and ten Detroit, just inside the Chiefs half. COMMENTATOR:

Stafford being blitzed. In trouble. Parker's second is that of the game.

This is what you've seen with the Detroit Lions, when they get

blitzed, they are not picking it up, you have to adjust your site, see

the pressure of top. Here comes Derrick Johnson. Here is why in

Parker. Matthew Stafford, you don't have enough blockers to pick it up.

You have to get rid of the football. Matthew Stafford holds it.

The Chiefs have used the time-out. Hoping to preserve some time and

maybe get the ball back. Lost to the 48-yard line. The Lions have to get

to 33 for 1st down. Stafford in trouble, down he goes, a

flag on the play. This time it was Ali breaking off the block. -- it

was Hali. Working against Riley Reiff. We talked about it last week

he came alive. He's relentless in his pressure. Boy, does it make a

better defense. Justin Houston on one end, when he starts winning

every time, this is a difference defense. Riley Reiff called on the

hold, the Chiefs accept the penalty to push the Lions back further, back

to the Detroit 42-yard line. The series started at the Chiefs 43.

Stafford steps up. In trouble again. Down he goes again. The Chiefs are

all over him. Matthew Stafford is leading the league in interception.

Matthew Stafford's sacks are not near the top of the league. He's

been hit as much as any quarterback in the league. You've got pressure

from the outside, Matthew Stafford holding the football too long. He's

been affected greatly by all the hits, the accumulation of hits is

taken through the year. Sometimes it is the players. People protecting

him, giving this guy who can't throw the foot or well time to do it. --

can't throw the football well. Theo Riddick, 3rd down, they have to get

to the Chiefs 33 for 1st down. Third and 27. Everybody out, the pass off

the hands of Calvin Johnson, even the reliable Calvin Johnson unable

to hang on. Things continue to go badly for the Lions. Calvin Johnson

third and 27, even he could not have converted that. It was the last

meaningful action of the half, Kansas City in charge, leading 24-3.

The Lions have defined their game, can they make the adjustments? Let's

see what adjustments they make when they get the ball. De'Anthony Thomas

on the return. One man gets across the 20, down to the 24.

We return to the action with the cheats on third antics on the Lions

35-yard line. Keep the play alive. Uses his legs,

again gets 1st down. Leading rusher in the game is Alex Smith. Just an

outstanding job I Alex Smith, he was under a lot of duress he played

Houdini here, you see the rush coming. Ezequiel Ansah getting

double teams. Alex Smith finding his way out, Charcandrick West with a

tremendous block to allow Smith to get that 1st down. Staying in front

of Whitehead. Nine yard run, Alex Smith, five calories, 77 yard this

is Charcandrick West. Down to 32-yard line. The Chiefs have run

the ball effectively in this game. They've run it very effectively,

they've been excellent on 3rd down, now seven of nine, almost 80% on 3rd

down, it's what happens when you put yourself in an advantageous

third-down situation. 2nd 6. West with 13 carries, 57 yards.

Knile Davis at running back. Smith, diving catch. It is a catch by

Jeremy Maclin, a great grab. There is no butter on these hands of

Jeremy Maclin. See the play action, the effect of it. Maclin works

behind. A tremendous catch with his hands, great concentration by Jeremy

Maclin. At his fingertips, brings it in with strong hands. How about

getting that left hand under the ball so it doesn't hit the ground?

West, 1 yard on the play. The Chiefs playing ball control to start the

second half. Taking time off the clock. They have a big lead. The

Lions have to find a way to change an amendment the game. About four

weeks ago we have the Chiefs against the Chicago Bears, this offensive

line was much maligned, they were playing football that was not good.

This is a very much changed line. The past to Travis Kelce. Inside the

five, down to the one line. That is toughness personified. Alex Smith

staring down the gun barrel, knowing he will get it, standing there,

delivering a strike. That is cool sticking your face in the fan,

giving yourself up for the team. Absolutely perfect ball, tremendous

football by Alex Smith. At the two yard line. The fifth trip to the red

zone for the Chiefs. Outside the Travis Kelce. Looking for the

opening. Touchdown. First passing touchdown of the game for the

Chiefs. Smith to Travis Kelce. The Chiefs take the second-half

kick-off, marching down the field. Andy Reid continuing to be creative.

Travis Kelce in the corner, you are thinking run if you are the rich

redlines defense. He steps back, blockers in front, great execution.

Man on man, Travis Kelce running through one guy, going through

Tulloch. This is an old-fashioned whipping they are putting on the

Detroit Lions. They have been in the red zone five times, coming away

with four touchdowns, one field goal. 11 play, 61 Yard Drive to

start the second half for the Chiefs. Andy Reid wanted more

toughness from his team, he saw it last week, we are seeing it from the

quarterback, Travis Kelce, toughness leading the Chiefs to a great

bondage. Following a punter piece, the ball is on the Lions' 10-yard

line. Stafford. Up for Calvin Johnson. The catch is made. Along

the sideline, at the 24-yard line. Marcus Peters says no. Let's take a

look. Marcus Peters is right. Let's see. Calvin Johnson bobbles the

ball. I don't think he is inbounds. The left knee out of bounds before

he has control. No, I think they are going to play.

No challenge. The Lions. Stafford hits Calvin Johnson on the left

side. Another 1st down on 37-yard line. Calvin Johnson working against

Sean Smith. I have to tell you, the weather is the offensive

coordinator, if I am, I'm finding number 81, finding creative ways to

get to him. Roger is short passes, but down the field. Nobody does it

better than Calvin Johnson. They just haven't been able to get them

down the field. Yards per catch is down this year. That one intended

for Golden Tate. For the Lions, Matthew Stafford, a tough day. Not

passing through a lot of yards. Two interceptions. They have been turned

into ten points for the Chiefs. Bell had one big run, the first

possession of the game. Theo Riddick, in the backfield. With

Matthew Stafford. The Chiefs are showing blitz. The break outside

completed Lance Moore. Is first catch of the game at the 33-yard

line. Seven carries, above seven yards per carry. When you are

behind, hard to consistently run the ball. They talk about wanting to run

it. When you are behind, that is why they have thrown it 75% of the time

this year. Stafford gets time, hitting Golden

Tate for a 1st down. Good throw, good catch. This is what you see

from Matthew Stafford, natural, big-time thrower of a football. That

is why they say they are wanting him comfortable. If the quarterback

likes a play, he tends to make it work. Trying to find things Matthew

Stafford likes, protecting him to use that great arm. In travel, down

he goes. Justin is used in getting right around the block. Getting

around Waddle. This is why he does not get single much, there is not

much of a chance for Waddle. Good job, but just in Houston had over 20

sacks last year, this year so much intention. A really fine player.

Tough, back-to-back weeks for Matthew Stafford. Seven sacks last

week, five today. Finds Theo Riddick. Getting inside the 40.

39-yard line. Parker with the stop. Riddick doesn't excellent job as a

pass receiving running back. We have reached the end of the third

quarter, the game still belonging to the Kansas City Chiefs, leading

31-3. Right now, as we start the fourth quarter, the Lions on the

move, third in line. -- 3rd 9. A special day, the International

Series. The blitz was on. Stafford got rid

of it in a hurry. Abdullah, with the safety blitz. 4th down. Stafford,

they got him. Sack number six. Justin Houston, and Ali. More great

work from the defense, the offense could not take advantage, having to

punt. Detroit deep in their own half, let's rejoin the action.

Lance Moore taken down by Teflon branch. You talk about the problems,

what about the chance they have with the new offensive line coach, how

will he make things better for them? Tough to do it mid-season. He is a

no-nonsense, we saw it in practice, believe me, no-nonsense. Getting

into their faces. Trying to simplify the protection. Make it much easier,

it may not be perfect, but everyone doing the same thing. As not work

today. De'Anthony Thomas gets away, picks up a couple of blocks. Broke

down inside a 20-yard line. It looked like he was going down, just

after catching the short punt from Sam Martin. Great return, down to

the 13-yard line. 37 yard punts, 37 yard return. De'Anthony Thomas

catches the punt, his own man coming into his lap. He sees the outside,

turning on the Jet. He has a electric speed and quickness, we saw

it at the University the Oregon -- University of Oregon, we're starting

to see it for the Chiefs. They spot the ball at the 16-yard line. Once

again, everything going right for the Chiefs. All three phases, they

are dominating. Sherman, in that fullback. West, bouncing outside.

The Lions stretch it out, to take him outside and out. Stephen Tulloch

with the tackle. Kansas City Chiefs will have a bye week, in the second

half of the season, playing only one team with a winning record, the

Denver Broncos. They have them right after that by week. At Denver.

Denver plane the Green Bay Packers tonight. That will be a showdown.

The Chiefs sense, you cannot control Denver, but they can control

themselves, keeping the heat on them. All receivers out. Alex Smith

rushing for the end zone. Touchdown. Jeremy Maclin. He makes the ground.

-- grab. The Chiefs are machine-like in this

game. Nothing small ball about this. This is swinging from the fences.

Alex Smith seeing a matchup he likes. Jeremy Maclin, on the inside

linebacker. That is just a dart by Alex Smith, who has played nearly

flawless game today. Second touchdown pass trained by Alex

Smith. Smiles all around. Jeremy Maclin making his return after being

inactive last week. Extra point by Cairo Santos, is good. They are

having a wonderful trip to London. Jeremy Maclin with the catch, and

the touchdown. Abdullah, on the return. Tries to

get outside, pulled out of bounds at the 22.

Stafford puts it deeper Calvin Johnson. Great catch. Calvin Johnson

against Sean Smith. I hate to say it, that is the second time in the

entire game they have gone downfield to this guy. They cannot be your

entire offense, but a pretty good option to have. Just throw it up to

81, good things happen when you do that. They need more of that in the

offense. Longest pass play in the game. Johnson with five catches, 81

yards. That goes to Eric Eve run, at the 35. Derrick Johnson covering up

the blade. Seam quick passes, the Lions with no vital, on the move.

Calvin Johnson testing his leg on the sideline. His ankle. Don't want

to see that. Stafford. Going outside, a bit too

far. Corey Fuller. The start of this drive, I have said it numerous times

today. The offensive group led by Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford.

Golden Tate, Eric Eve run. You have weapons all over. -- Eric Eve run.

The offensive line has struggled mightily. Unless you are Tom Brady

gets rid of it so quickly, and frankly does not matter, you will

have issues. Stafford, Ian rushed, goes short to

Riddick, out of bounds by Abdullah. Short of the 30-yard line, the Lions

will be one and seven at the halfway mark of this season after this game.

What can Jim Caldwell do the remainder of the season to get this

team going in the right direction? The past is the past. He was 11 and

five last year, it makes this more perplexing. What the Ford family

needs to see from Jim Caldwell is progress, you have juicy you've made

these changes offensive Luke Morris get better defensively. -- you have

two C. Slides down at the 26-yard line to

bring up 4th down. See how I speak about defensively, the front hasn't

been their problem. At one point this defensive line featured Nick

Fairley. They came at you from every direction. They are not the force

they once were. That pass is caught for 1st down, a good catch by Ebron,

who had trouble early in the game in the first half. 1st down from the

Lions at the 21 yards line. As they try to get something positive late

in this game. Stafford. He throws. Rolling into the end zone for a

touchdown is Moore. We've seen Alex Smith mobilise

Peters drops coverage, throws it to Lance Moore, who rolls it to the end

zone for the Lions full. The extra point tried by Matt

Prater. For the first time since the opening possession of the game, the

Lions put points on the board. Matthew Stafford throwing to Lance

Moore for the touchdown. Onside kick try, it hit a Chiefs. The Chiefs

have it. It was loose for a moment. On the Lions sideline, Calvin

Johnson is being checked out by the medical staff stop putting the issue

back on. It's a good sign. Word from Pam Oliver as they were looking at

his left toe. As he tests it out. The Chiefs have the Lions 41-yard

line. Chase Daniel is in the game at quarterback, Alex Smith had himself

a great afternoon. Charcandrick West! Is brought down at the 10-yard

line. A great run, Grover Quinn saved a touchdown. What can you say

about this offensive line that we haven't already? Watch the right

side, look at the gaping hole, again, poor defense from the Detroit

Lions and Charcandrick West makes them pay. 32 yard run for

Charcandrick West. Jeff Triplett... We didn't see a horse caller, they

did eventually call that. Personal foul, horse caller tackle, number 27

defense, half the distance to the goal, 1st down. Jim Caldwell

wondering about that call. You get a hold of that inside of the Jersey,

the shoulder pad, early, yanked it down, it's very here in the NFL will

back that it is a penalty. -- in the NFL rule book. Charcandrick West has

rushed for 97 yards in the game. Spencer Ware at running back. Taken

in. How about that? Spencer Ware comes in, gets the ball and scores a

touchdown. Fourth rushing touchdown of the game for the Chiefs.

Everybody sharing in the joy. Watch the offensive line, you can see the

movement of that line of scrimmage and Spencer Ware really unimpeded

until the end, then he fights his way in. This offensive line for the

Chiefs playing big, big football. Three weeks ago he was on the

practice squad, now scoring a touchdown in London, his first NFL

the Kansas City Chiefs by 45-7. For as the focus has been put in

quarters together, it's been the aim of the game all season. We haven't

put four quarters together in any of the losses. I'm proud of the guys

today, especially second half, coming out continuing to stay

focused. The big guys up front set the tone for us. Offense and defense

have made the difference today. An emphatic victory for the Kansas City

Chiefs it's fair to say. 35 points, that margin equals their best ever

for nine years, pretty good day at the office, Mike? Absolutely,

everything was working well for the Chiefs, they did exactly what they

wanted to do and Andy Reid was able to put together the kind of offense

he needed to have with Jamaal Charles being out for the rest of

the season. He got his running game together, he got some passing game

with Jeremy Maclin back, everything clicked. Alex Smith had a fantastic

day, 78 yards rushing for him. 81 in total for the whole of the Detroit

Lions, it says more about the decisions Alex Smith made than the

Detroit Lions, but it wasn't their day-to-day. It wasn't Detroit Lions

day at all. Kansas City Chiefs had a lot to do with that, they came out

and executed their game plan flawlessly whether of them to become

they did what they wanted to do with the Detroit Lions, kudos for playing

the way they did. When it came to rushing they knew what to do. It

illustrates it as good as anything else, they got their first touchdown

on a tremendous play. To De'Anthony Thomas. Those tight ends with the

line, Ansah. De'Anthony Thomas comes back, gets the ball, Ansah doesn't

see it and he's caught, nobody has to block him. Thomas got the two

great blocks from the tight ends, he was in standing up. We have to

mention how Alex Smith, when he chose to run, this man ran, 49

yards. The most rushing yards he's ever had on his career on the day.

He exposed the defensive line for the Detroit Lions, he steps up, the

Detroit Lions up the field, the defensive tackle is too far down he

ran right through the middle. The running back is running right

through. The celebrations. And the celebration by him. Charcandrick

West is a man they really needed to step forward, a second straight 100

yard game, then right at the end Sean where came in. -- Ware came in.

It was the stuff in the air Alex Smith was able to decide on. Jamaal

Charles wasn't there but he had some outlets including Travis Kelce. Who

everybody knew would be his top target. This is Kelce... Set up by a

long pass to Kelce, they threw the ball outside, only one blocker, but

he's so strong he doesn't need any more and does it himself. Alex

Smith, nice through over the middle, Jeremy Maclin coming through, the

middle linebacker had him in coverage, but he's too slow to cover

Jeremy Maclin, he comes up with a nice catch. As soon as he saw

Maclin, his eyes lit up. Talk about his game a little bit. Coming into

this it was a little bit of anxiety around his game. He picked the right

passes and the right times to run and he managed. Use a game manager,

that is exactly what he did today, managed the game for the Kansas City

Chiefs, made all the right weeds, man when he needed to run, through

the exact pinpoint passes when he needed to. They and I can call him

the game manager, he won the game for the Chiefs. A game manager is

what you want. It doesn't get more contrasting for quarterback Stan

Alex Smith against Stafford. It was down to the defense Detroit was

playing. They put exceptional pressure on Matt Stafford for the

whole game, it came from overload ellipses, one guy rushing on block.

It came from all sides. -- overload blitzes. If you spend that much

time, eventually you will go down. If the game is bad when it comes to

the sacks, the interceptions come. Pressure on the quarterback, Riley

Reiff looks really bad. Just Houston comes through, he had a fantastic

game today by the way. Stafford looking to Calvin Johnson on the

left, he threw over the middle and finally in the fourth quarter he

decides, maybe I would have run from this rush. He makes his decision

earlier, that was the lesson we took as Lance Moore rolls into the end

zone. We took from Matt Stafford that decisions need to come more

quickly, we thought that is what Jim Bob Kusal was going to do when they

brought in a new offensive coordinator this week. -- Jim Bob

Cooter. They go one and seven, it'll hurt for them going into the locker

room and going back to the States, where do they go from here? It is

what you refer to as gut check time, their season is lost, they will not

make the lay-offs with their record, they need to find out how the team

will build next year, who will lay down, who will quit and you will

stand up and play like they have tried? It'll determine their future

moving forward. What about the Chiefs? It was five and zero not

long ago, now three and five. Great situation for them, they go home,

get some rest, coming on a roll of a really good win. If Oakland lose

today, they are even opened behind Denver and Denver is the first game

of the buying week, they'll be prepared for that. What about the

international series? The atmosphere incredible. This game is building

over here. It moves from strength to strength, there is an appetite year

for maybe even more than three games every season, but we get the best of

the NFL and right in our backyard, it's great. But its change

perceptions? When you sell out Wembley you won't just have NFL

fans, 89,000, in the stadium, this is a board game and has broad

appeal. The whole of England coming to support the National Football

League, it's a wonderful job by NFL international. We know the NFL is

trying to expand globally and this is the first place they need to do

it in and they've done a very good job of that so far. They have some

good ambassadors into! They have! Pleasure talking to you, gentlemen.
