Hello and welcome to highlights of the World Indoor Championships from

:00:49.:00:57.

Portland, Oregon. We have an action packed hour ahead with plenty of

:00:58.:01:03.

medal chances for the British team. Tiffani Porter has the world indoor

:01:04.:01:07.

bronze medal and silver medals in the 60-metre medals. Angie Abba Gold

:01:08.:01:15.

medal rush to mark the men's 60 metres is on and James desolating

:01:16.:01:24.

leads the charge. Morgan Lake is in the pentathlon but she will face a

:01:25.:01:29.

tough battle to make the podium. After a breakthrough silver medal

:01:30.:01:34.

last year, Shara Proctor is one of the favourites in the long jump. An

:01:35.:01:43.

enthusiastic crowd packed out the Convention Centre on Thursday night

:01:44.:01:45.

with all eyes on the Olympic champion. But expectant fans would

:01:46.:01:52.

have to wait because he sat out several early rounds. He has done

:01:53.:02:02.

it. But the big surprise was the form of Shaughnessy Barber. He has

:02:03.:02:10.

only got one chance at this. It wasn't to be this evening. His

:02:11.:02:18.

failure means the poll gets the bronze medal. The first tiny little

:02:19.:02:32.

blip from Barber. It was left to the American, Sam Kendricks to put the

:02:33.:02:35.

pressure on. blip from Barber. It was left to the

:02:36.:02:37.

American, Sam Kendricks to put the pressure on. Having passed up 575,

:02:38.:02:42.

he finds himself out of the medals. Yes! He has got the confidence and

:02:43.:02:50.

he's got the belief. Got a battle on your hands.

:02:51.:02:59.

Huge sense of expectation. The world record holder... Yes! Oh my goodness

:03:00.:03:14.

me. And now Sam Kendricks is under pressure. The pressure told and he

:03:15.:03:22.

was unable to clear five metres 90, but claimed the silver.

:03:23.:03:32.

Yes, not only does he retain his world indoor title, it is a

:03:33.:03:40.

championship record. He is in a class all have his own. The

:03:41.:03:47.

Frenchman raised the bar again to a potential world record raking six

:03:48.:03:57.

metres 17. Has he hurt himself? He is OK. He is OK. It is good to drive

:03:58.:04:10.

to jump pretty high. To take the win at the six-metre jump, I was secure.

:04:11.:04:17.

The championship record the me, it means a lot. But the first time ever

:04:18.:04:22.

in women's pole vault competition, all four competitors clear four

:04:23.:04:36.

metres 80. Yes, yes, yes! Katarina Stefan Aigner jihad managed a

:04:37.:04:41.

faultless performance. That successful clearance saw the Greek

:04:42.:04:50.

go on to win the bronze. The US hair battled it out for the title. Can

:04:51.:04:58.

she go over four metres and 85? Yes! The successful clearance from

:04:59.:05:06.

Morris. Put her team-mate go one better for the championship record?

:05:07.:05:14.

Well, well, well! She punches the air. Gold for the American, but

:05:15.:05:20.

there wasn't to be another world record attempt. To win the gold

:05:21.:05:27.

medal on home soil means a lot. It is a good build-up for the out door,

:05:28.:05:34.

but it starts clean on Olympic trials day. Seven events over two

:05:35.:05:39.

days will decide who will be the heptathlon champion for the men. In

:05:40.:05:44.

the first of two 60-metre heats, it was Kurt Felix who crossed the line

:05:45.:05:50.

first. But the second heat, it was all about Ashton Eaton looking to

:05:51.:05:58.

add to his medal tally home soil. He didn't disappoint in the opening

:05:59.:06:03.

events, putting him top of the leaderboard followed closely by

:06:04.:06:09.

Alexey Cassie on. The Ukrainian cleared an impressive 7.49 in the

:06:10.:06:16.

long jump. But the American managed a massive eight metres and eight

:06:17.:06:22.

centimetres. Much to his delight and that of the home crowd. Alan Curtis

:06:23.:06:28.

speech took the opportunity to get into the running for a medal. --

:06:29.:06:39.

Curtis beach. A continued solid display in the shot put. But to the

:06:40.:06:47.

surprise of those in the crowd in Portland, the man at the top through

:06:48.:06:51.

an overthrow on his first attempt. But later did register 40 metres and

:06:52.:06:57.

16 centimetres, enough to keep him in the gold medal position for now.

:06:58.:07:03.

But it was Felix who topped the bill in this discipline. That put him

:07:04.:07:14.

back into third place. Beach reminded people he was still in the

:07:15.:07:20.

running. This allowed Felix to finish the day in second place after

:07:21.:07:25.

an impressive two metres and 11 centimetre clearance. Meaning, at

:07:26.:07:31.

the end of the first day of competition, Eaton holds on to first

:07:32.:07:38.

place and Cassie are not in third with it all to play for. Heat one of

:07:39.:07:43.

the 60-metre hurdles in the women. So Rita Solomon has to get in the

:07:44.:08:08.

top two, if she is to make it through. Solomon is away.

:08:09.:08:20.

Top two only guaranteed a place. It was a decent run from Solomon.

:08:21.:08:33.

Rollins has been in such good form. Welcome and good evening to Tony

:08:34.:08:40.

alongside me. Rollins, as expected, but Solomon was quick. Do you think

:08:41.:08:50.

she has a chance? If she can get K eight seconds or close to eight

:08:51.:08:54.

seconds dead, it might be good enough to make the final.

:08:55.:08:57.

Confirmation of the result of the first heat.

:08:58.:09:08.

Solomon has got to cross her fingers and hope it is quick enough. The

:09:09.:09:12.

second heat. Tiffani Porter should be able to go

:09:13.:09:39.

through. Daniel Williams, despite being the world champion outdoors,

:09:40.:09:43.

is not so good at 60 metres hurdles in doors. It should be between

:09:44.:09:49.

Porter and Ali, closest to the camera. Porter was left in the

:09:50.:09:54.

blocks, a bad start from her. Williams has gone out. It leaves it

:09:55.:10:02.

clear that Ali and Porter, getting what was a bit of a ropey start for

:10:03.:10:07.

Porter. I said Williams might struggle. Not as quick in doors,

:10:08.:10:12.

prefers the full distance outdoors. Ali, very good. Porter not so good.

:10:13.:10:20.

Terrible start. She put her arm up into the air and went vertical

:10:21.:10:26.

straightaway. Took a short step off. Didn't really drive out. Williams,

:10:27.:10:32.

making a mess of it helped Porter get through in an automatic

:10:33.:10:36.

qualifying position. On to the final heat. Things are looking good for

:10:37.:10:45.

Solomon, she is still the fastest of the fastest losers. With only two

:10:46.:10:50.

fastest loser spot available, only one more race to go. Rings not

:10:51.:10:53.

looking too bad for her. Another cracking start from

:10:54.:11:03.

Harrison. Just putting a bit of daylight between herself and the

:11:04.:11:12.

others. Matching her team-mate Rollins. They are looking head and

:11:13.:11:15.

shoulders above the others. We will have to see who goes through

:11:16.:11:32.

as the two fastest losers. But certainly Solomon will be one of

:11:33.:11:39.

them. It was tight in terms of times between Harrison and Rollins. You

:11:40.:11:43.

imagine they would either two contesting the gold medal. Ali will

:11:44.:11:50.

be hoping to make it USA one, two, three. Tiffani Porter will have to

:11:51.:11:55.

be quicker and start better than she did in the first race. Great view of

:11:56.:12:02.

the athletes already out and getting ready for the semifinal of the men's

:12:03.:12:09.

60 metres. What a mouthwatering Ross Barkley have. Great Britain goes in

:12:10.:12:23.

the first of the semifinals, watch out for the former youth champion

:12:24.:12:31.

from Japan. Competitive field with no room for error. First two in each

:12:32.:12:37.

of the semifinals and the two fastest losers to go through to the

:12:38.:12:39.

final. James Dasaolu, was that a false

:12:40.:12:59.

start? It looked pretty clear to me. James Dasaolu, his World

:13:00.:13:04.

Championship hopes disappear in a split second. False start and James

:13:05.:13:10.

Dasaolu knows what an opportunity goes down the drain for him.

:13:11.:13:23.

Rahman Gittins going well. What are run by Ramon Gittens. That is a

:13:24.:13:40.

surprise. With the talent to come in the next semifinals, it is difficult

:13:41.:13:41.

to separate the top two. I am disappointed. I just wish I had

:13:42.:14:00.

another chance to go out there and, if I could rerun the race again, I

:14:01.:14:07.

could. But I can't, so it is the end of my Championships. Second

:14:08.:14:11.

semifinal, the name of Kim Collins always jumps out.

:14:12.:14:26.

Going to be very, very close on the line. Collins gets it. 6.40 nine.

:14:27.:14:39.

Close to his personal best. Collins has a lovely action, he never

:14:40.:14:49.

changes, even at age 30 nine. Rogers having a glance across. Confirming

:14:50.:14:54.

the results of that second semifinal. Quick running from Kim

:14:55.:15:05.

Collins and Mike Rogers. Start list for the third semifinal. Andy

:15:06.:15:11.

Robinson goes for Great Britain. Asafa Powell of Jamaica.

:15:12.:15:23.

Powell gets a good start. Bracy has work to do here. Su got second.

:15:24.:15:32.

Powell 6. 43 this time. He is getting quicker. He makes it look so

:15:33.:15:40.

easy. Su ran another cracking race. Bracy, despite a reasonable start

:15:41.:15:43.

never got going. It may be that he couldn't react to the speed of

:15:44.:15:47.

Powell. Powell good out of the blocks. Brayc

:15:48.:15:52.

goes backwards there and tries to come back. He is not catching Su who

:15:53.:15:57.

ran another superb race, that's got to and personal best for the Chinese

:15:58.:16:01.

athlete. Powell with that world leading 6. 44. Su, a new Asian

:16:02.:16:06.

indoor record. 6. 50 from the Chinese athlete.

:16:07.:16:22.

Robertson in fifth place there. The women's pentathlon started with

:16:23.:16:27.

the 60 metre hurdles with Morgan Lake. Away they go. A good start by

:16:28.:16:42.

Nwaba. It's Fodorova. That's a super start from Ukraine. Canada's Brianne

:16:43.:16:51.

Eaton was next in lane two. Williams left a little bit there. Eaton has

:16:52.:16:58.

gone away with Mokhnyuk. Then Williams. What a super start for the

:16:59.:17:03.

favourite Eaton. In the high jump Eaton's early lead

:17:04.:17:14.

started to get closed down. Fodorova was in medal contention. The

:17:15.:17:21.

Canadian consolidated her lead at the same height. A season's best for

:17:22.:17:28.

Mokhnyuk. Morgan Lake jumped highest with 1 metre 88. She was

:17:29.:17:32.

disappointed not to clear any attempts at 1 metre 91. That meant

:17:33.:17:41.

after two events Eaton was out in front followed by Mokhnyuk and

:17:42.:17:53.

Fodorova of Ukraine. In the shot put the Canadian through

:17:54.:17:59.

a season's best of 13 metres 70. Morgan Lake's best throw came in the

:18:00.:18:07.

second round with 13 metres 61. In the long jump Mokhnyuk jumped a

:18:08.:18:13.

personal best and earned her the victory and extended her lead.

:18:14.:18:20.

Fodorova stayed on the heels of her ecranian counterpart. Morgan Lake

:18:21.:18:26.

produced the best of 603, a fair way off the pace.

:18:27.:18:32.

Going into the last event those were the three in contention.

:18:33.:18:39.

Pushing and shoving at the beginning trying to find a position. Then

:18:40.:18:48.

settle down. Morgan Lake just getting her elbows out there. Moving

:18:49.:18:55.

around the outside. Nwaba goes to the front. I think it's always about

:18:56.:19:00.

judgment and trying to be ambitious but not be silly in the 800, because

:19:01.:19:06.

you can get it wrong if you just go out a little bit too hard. She has

:19:07.:19:11.

to attack this as much as she can. 30 seconds for the leader. Eaton

:19:12.:19:16.

getting a nice ride through the first 200 metres and a gap

:19:17.:19:19.

developing already in the pack. Yeah, if you look at Briaannee is

:19:20.:19:28.

going for it, set up the quickest race, with a 210 personal best even

:19:29.:19:31.

though it's outdoors. She will be looking to go through. Let's look at

:19:32.:19:34.

the split time as she comes around. It's probably going to be much

:19:35.:19:38.

quicker than she should have really paced it at. She will probably pay

:19:39.:19:51.

the price later. Nwaba leading. Yeah, she's going for it. It's a

:19:52.:19:55.

question of whether or not she can hang on here and at least put a

:19:56.:20:00.

decent distance. The two Ukrainians in terms of the gold medal. Fodorova

:20:01.:20:10.

and the three seconds with Eaton, she could move into the silver medal

:20:11.:20:14.

position which is one she has held before. Not what she would swranted

:20:15.:20:18.

coming here but is going for it here. 200 metres to go. The question

:20:19.:20:24.

is can she speed up when you hear that bell? You get that little bit

:20:25.:20:28.

of excitement. It's usually the third lap you see them just changing

:20:29.:20:31.

their rhythm a little bit and slowing down. Here you see her

:20:32.:20:35.

picking up the pace. Eaton really giving this a go. She could be

:20:36.:20:39.

running for the silver medal here. Will have to wait to see what's

:20:40.:20:47.

happening hyped her. Fodorova is behind. Eaton just hangs on for the

:20:48.:20:51.

win. A really good performance from her. Nwaba says well done. A skrael

:20:52.:21:00.

on after that. Eight, nine, ten seconds. Morningen Lake crossing

:21:01.:21:05.

outside of the time required. She needed 217. I reckon it was around

:21:06.:21:10.

about 220. A solid day for Morgan Lake.

:21:11.:21:18.

Theisen Eaton wins the gold medal. What a performance from her in the

:21:19.:21:23.

800 metres. Has snatched the gold from the Ukrainians. Her husband,

:21:24.:21:26.

the first to come and congratulate her. He has had his gold medals.

:21:27.:21:33.

This is her first. Her first global title. Goodness me does she deserve

:21:34.:21:37.

it for that performance in the final event. I came here with a goal in

:21:38.:21:42.

mind of doing absolutely the best I could do at every event. I honestly

:21:43.:21:46.

couldn't have done more. So, to do it the way I was supposed to do it

:21:47.:21:51.

and get a gold, the gold is the cherry on top. I think I would have

:21:52.:21:56.

left with a bitter taste in my mouth with silver. A little disappointed

:21:57.:22:00.

obviously, hoped to get higher than 7th. I can't be too unhappy with 7th

:22:01.:22:07.

in the world at the end of the day. Yeah, it's a bittersweet feeling.

:22:08.:22:13.

Confirmation, Theisen Eaton wins the gold.

:22:14.:22:23.

In the women's long jump Shara Proctor is concentrating on moving

:22:24.:22:35.

on to bigger things. I have to erase last year out of my memory. It's

:22:36.:22:39.

important to do that and to move forward this year. I need to go into

:22:40.:22:43.

this year with a new mindset and new goals and new standards.

:22:44.:22:53.

It's a new British record! A stirring jump from Proctor. When I

:22:54.:22:59.

look back at the jump it was one of the ugliest jumps. If I fix a couple

:23:00.:23:02.

of things I can definitely go further.

:23:03.:23:09.

The women's long jump. That's got to be close.

:23:10.:23:33.

It is a good jump. This is a big effort in the

:23:34.:23:42.

A world lead in the first round. What an enormous lead that is.

:23:43.:23:54.

America's Brittany Reese has won this title also. Looking to respond

:23:55.:24:02.

from that huge effort. The American goes in chase.

:24:03.:24:06.

A big scream there. It's good. She likes it. Not sure what that means.

:24:07.:24:18.

But this might threaten that seven metre leap. It's a good start for

:24:19.:24:21.

the American. Maybe saying she twisted in the air. Let's look at it

:24:22.:24:28.

from the front. A good leg shoot. The white flag is raised. It's a

:24:29.:24:39.

very good start for Reese. Proctor jumped in the first round.

:24:40.:24:45.

The second round saw fellow Brits jump 6. 31. Seven men to line up in

:24:46.:24:56.

the first of the two races. Burgen is not one of the top

:24:57.:25:20.

Kenyans. He is a bit of a journeyman. Not bad indoors, he is

:25:21.:25:24.

somebody you wouldn't fear too much. For Centrowitz he has proven come

:25:25.:25:48.

championships he can time it to perfection. And run really well. I

:25:49.:25:53.

think he would say this year, especially, he is a lot further on

:25:54.:25:56.

in the indoor season than in previous years and seems to be

:25:57.:26:02.

racing very well. He ran that 350. He is in good shape and will run it

:26:03.:26:06.

tactically well. Charlie has got himself in a great position. He is

:26:07.:26:10.

able to monitor and stay out of the bumping going on ahead of him but be

:26:11.:26:17.

able to react when he needs to. The danger always is that in a small

:26:18.:26:21.

field of seven the people have been invited to these World

:26:22.:26:24.

Championships, it makes it of a very high quality. Everybody can finish

:26:25.:26:28.

fast. In a slow run race these guys wouldn't be here if they couldn't

:26:29.:26:32.

finish fast. They've won national championships or run a qualifying

:26:33.:26:36.

both or time. Holusa didn't look great in Glasgow,

:26:37.:26:40.

I didn't think. He has run a new national record of 1,000 metres

:26:41.:26:45.

before that. He has enough pace in his legs. Olmedo is always

:26:46.:26:54.

dangerous. Birgen. It's good to see Charlie taking the initiative. The

:26:55.:27:03.

Spaniard has gone, Olmedo. He still needs to concentrate on the task at

:27:04.:27:07.

hand. The good thing for Charlie Grice is getting that chance to go

:27:08.:27:11.

with Mo and train with him and get that extra endurance and strength

:27:12.:27:14.

will have done his confidence a lot of good but will also mean that his

:27:15.:27:17.

endurance is strong and he can be able to have a different way of

:27:18.:27:21.

running the race and different options and making taking it on

:27:22.:27:28.

earlier in the race. That was the fastest lap. Just

:27:29.:27:31.

beginning to pick up a little bit. It's slow through the first 800.

:27:32.:27:36.

That won't bother Centrowitz. This is where Charlie has to stay on his

:27:37.:27:41.

toes and get pushed in. He gets his elbows out himself. He has got out

:27:42.:27:46.

of the box there. A bit of rough and tumble indoors Starting to stretch

:27:47.:27:52.

it out. Centrowitz finds himself at the back again after that. Charlie

:27:53.:27:56.

did well to get out of trouble there. He didn't do Centrowitz any

:27:57.:28:00.

favours. We will see if he is able to get back into the position he

:28:01.:28:04.

worked hard to move up to. Two laps to go.

:28:05.:28:11.

Centrowitz lurking on the outside there. Charlie has to just stay on

:28:12.:28:18.

top of this here. Holusa can finish quickly. The Ethiopian trying to

:28:19.:28:24.

hold off Centrowitz. Charlie has work to do on this last lap. They're

:28:25.:28:28.

all still there. Every single one of them has a chance. Just the top

:28:29.:28:32.

three don't forget to go through. As they go to the bell Charlie

:28:33.:28:39.

Grice, I don't know whether he has much left to give now. Holusa moving

:28:40.:28:48.

into third spot. Moving away from Charlie Grice. At the front

:28:49.:28:54.

Centrowitz, Wolde and Holusa. It's going to be a good finish.

:28:55.:29:00.

Centrowitz will hold on for the win. Wolde and Holusa can look back. That

:29:01.:29:06.

will be a disappointed Charlie Grice. He can finish well. I didn't

:29:07.:29:11.

think he looked great in the trials. He is meant to have been training

:29:12.:29:15.

hard, things are going well for him but that isn't a reflection of his

:29:16.:29:20.

ability certainly. Centrowitz winning ahead of Wolde and Holusa.

:29:21.:29:27.

They qualified comfortably. Charlie can only hope that for some

:29:28.:29:31.

reason in the second semifinal they crawl around.

:29:32.:29:39.

The second semifinal. Nick Willis of New Zealand one of the big games.

:29:40.:29:48.

Souleiman one of favourites for the gold taking on Chris O Hare of Great

:29:49.:29:55.

Britain. A tough race here. Only the top three go through. Chris O Hare

:29:56.:30:00.

knows that the top three definitely go through, but all of these men

:30:01.:30:04.

know that the first heat was not particularly fast and if they win a

:30:05.:30:10.

fairly pace and pick it up on the last 400 then six men could go

:30:11.:30:11.

through from that race. How many times have we seen all

:30:12.:30:25.

coming out are not taking advantage of the advantage you had in the

:30:26.:30:30.

second heat. We will have an idea when they get to the first couple of

:30:31.:30:36.

laps. There is quality in this field and you do need to take advantage.

:30:37.:30:41.

You cannot rely on a fast finish because they can all finish fast. As

:30:42.:30:46.

we saw last week, Robbie Andrews is a huge danger if you let it go to

:30:47.:30:56.

slow. Willis said he is training in Flagstaff. He said he ran a personal

:30:57.:31:06.

best, rolling start metres. You go quicker at altitude. You hit a golf

:31:07.:31:15.

ball further as well! Wote, setting them off at a pretty good pace.

:31:16.:31:23.

Andrews of the USA, in third spot. Chris O her of Great Britain happy

:31:24.:31:29.

to stay at the back. Six of those top seven no app this pace, they

:31:30.:31:36.

have only got to get ahead of one of those people in the group, then you

:31:37.:31:40.

will go through to the final. The question is, of the group of seven,

:31:41.:31:49.

who will lose out? The idea is to keep moving forward one space and

:31:50.:31:58.

one spot at the time. If you are Chris O Hare, he can keep their

:31:59.:32:05.

night on who is struggling. They will take turns at the front. When

:32:06.:32:10.

Wote gets fed up of leading and moves aside, hopefully they will not

:32:11.:32:14.

lose the work they have done. Chris is moving up. The Spaniard has won

:32:15.:32:24.

the under 23 indoor Championships, so he must possess some speed.

:32:25.:32:36.

29.99, just slowing a little bit. They have given themselves a

:32:37.:32:39.

platform, they need to finish this off. Willis at the back of the

:32:40.:32:52.

group. Souliman takes a wider track to go around Wote. Was it an

:32:53.:32:59.

invitation was it encouragement by Chris, to get somebody to go to the

:33:00.:33:05.

front that didn't have to be him, to keep the pace moving along. Andrews

:33:06.:33:11.

gets a little nudge and decides to go back inside. Wote, now wants to

:33:12.:33:15.

be on the outside as we take the bell. Only six will go through.

:33:16.:33:29.

O'Hare in a great position. They are all having a look behind. All six

:33:30.:33:45.

will go through. Sadly it means Charlie Grice will not make it

:33:46.:33:54.

through to the final. But Chris O'Hare running a very well judged

:33:55.:33:55.

race. Wote, Kibet and Willis will go

:33:56.:34:15.

through as the fastest losers. Back in the long jump. Shara Proctor had

:34:16.:34:17.

no jump in the fourth. Brittany Reese. She likes it. Her

:34:18.:34:45.

best so far, 6.97. She jumped 6.88 in the previous round. This might

:34:46.:34:55.

threaten the leader. Just as we wait to see this measurement, it looked

:34:56.:35:01.

as though Brittany Reese has given the Serbian something to think about

:35:02.:35:05.

in the penultimate round. Look at that, exactly the same. Seven metres

:35:06.:35:10.

exactly, goes into the lead with count back. 6.97 as a back-up. Ugen

:35:11.:35:24.

in the fifth round. That is very much better the Ugen. Struggled to

:35:25.:35:31.

find her form in the early rounds. But has improved by a fraction of

:35:32.:35:37.

centimetres. 6.93. She has gone into third place. It is all kicking off

:35:38.:35:50.

in the fifth round of the long jump. Maybe as a result of Eton's

:35:51.:36:02.

performance in the 800 metres. Has she gone back into the lead? That is

:36:03.:36:13.

a New World leading mark the Spanovic. Absolutely superb

:36:14.:36:21.

performance the Spanovic. On to the semifinals of the women's 400

:36:22.:36:22.

metres. The line-up is like this: At the American Championships,

:36:23.:36:53.

Spencer came through. This time she has started quickly. Has a tendency

:36:54.:37:04.

not to go hard on the first 200. The poll has not use the advantage of

:37:05.:37:08.

the outside lane. Spencer coming across. Swift, but not too fast

:37:09.:37:15.

through the first 200. Spencer controlling things. De Witee is

:37:16.:37:26.

trying to get into this. Top three only go through. Spencer starting to

:37:27.:37:33.

move away. She is always stronger in the last 30, 40 metres. Showing her

:37:34.:37:43.

talent, the American. 52.41 the American. Second semifinal.

:37:44.:38:13.

MacPherson is going to have to make up some ground to get on terms with

:38:14.:38:24.

these two. MacPherson has got herself involved. They cut across at

:38:25.:38:33.

the break point. Top three will go through. If MacPherson is third, she

:38:34.:38:40.

will not get a good lane in the final. Hayes, still looks

:38:41.:38:53.

comfortable. The American looming. MacPherson trying to challenge

:38:54.:39:03.

again. Hayes wants to win this. It was the quicker race, very quick

:39:04.:39:06.

through the first 200 metres. All three were struggling in the last

:39:07.:39:08.

50. Adekoya long on. MacPherson will be

:39:09.:39:26.

in the final, but won't get a good lane draw. A full summary of the

:39:27.:39:35.

athletes who have made it through to the final. Adekoya heading up the

:39:36.:39:40.

qualifiers. Ashley Spencer, may be a bit more to come from her. That

:39:41.:39:50.

could be telling. The road to Rio's Olympics is a long

:39:51.:40:06.

one, so watch Mo Farah on Saturday from 1:30pm on BBC One.

:40:07.:40:13.

Ugen, in third place. This is the last round of the long jump. Quick

:40:14.:40:23.

on the approach. She has matched the British record in the penultimate

:40:24.:40:27.

round. This, the last round. It is another long way into the sand pits.

:40:28.:40:33.

Finally found her form. She struggled slightly in the early

:40:34.:40:40.

rounds. It is a valid jump. Lorraine Ugen, finally got her rhythm going.

:40:41.:40:46.

6.86, it is another good effort. May come away with a bronze medal. It is

:40:47.:40:57.

De Loach, who could deprive her of that. Britain may be has its first

:40:58.:41:07.

medal from these world indoor Championships. De Loach, of the

:41:08.:41:11.

United States, can stop that happening with this very jump. 6.93,

:41:12.:41:20.

or better. De Loach, quick on the approach. It is a huge effort. That

:41:21.:41:29.

is an enormous jump for De Loach. It may even take the lead. 6.89 it is

:41:30.:41:36.

for De Loach. A season's best, but not enough to stop Lorraine Ugen

:41:37.:41:43.

taking the bronze medal. Great performance for Lorraine Ugen. 6.93

:41:44.:41:51.

it was. Brittany Reese in a silver medal spot. Olympic champion from

:41:52.:41:55.

2012, went into the lead in the fifth round momentarily. For a

:41:56.:41:59.

matter of seconds before it was pulled back in favour of the

:42:00.:42:10.

Serbian, Spanovic. What is it to be? Whitney Rees, you need to jump in

:42:11.:42:17.

excess of 7.7 centimetres. If you want to upgrade your silver medal to

:42:18.:42:23.

a gold medal. She is attacking this hard. It is enormous. Brittany Reese

:42:24.:42:32.

looks as though she has saved her best for the last round. She knows

:42:33.:42:40.

it. She doesn't need to look back. Surely that goes into the lead.

:42:41.:42:49.

Spanovic, has another jump. Their effect on the board. The crowd know.

:42:50.:43:01.

7.22! I New World leading mark. But it's not a gold medal yet. My word,

:43:02.:43:17.

what an enormous effort. Spanovic has led for the majority of this

:43:18.:43:22.

competition. Responded well when she sought Brittany Reese take the lead.

:43:23.:43:32.

Has just seen a world leading mark of 7.22, one centimetre short of her

:43:33.:43:40.

own championship record. She said that when she won this title four

:43:41.:43:48.

years ago. Spanovic, 7.20 two. Twisted in the air. It is not going

:43:49.:43:53.

to be enough. That is agonising the Spanovic. William performance from

:43:54.:43:58.

Brittany Reese. Gold medal for the USA. Brilliance performance.

:43:59.:44:07.

Absolutely superb effort in the last round. The showcase worked well in

:44:08.:44:14.

favour of the home advantage for the American. Huge effort. And Britain's

:44:15.:44:26.

first medal. Superb from the rain Ugen. 6.93, to get the bronze medal.

:44:27.:44:34.

How Brittany Reese responded, 7.20 two. It feels fantastic. I am happy

:44:35.:44:41.

to be able to jump well at a championship and get on the podium.

:44:42.:44:48.

Big jump, 6.93? Personal best, and the national record. The gold medal

:44:49.:44:53.

to Brittany Reese. Spanovic has to settle for the silver and a bronze

:44:54.:45:03.

the Ugen. New Zealand's Tom Walsh dominated the men's shot at with

:45:04.:45:09.

five throws over 21 metres. His best sixth round throw.

:45:10.:45:26.

The men's 400 metres semifinal. Two races. Again first three and no

:45:27.:45:36.

fastest losers making it through to the final.

:45:37.:45:41.

This one looks pretty tough with Clemons of the United States and

:45:42.:45:43.

Brenes. Taplin away quickly. Taplin normally

:45:44.:46:17.

likes to control this. He run it hard through the first 200. The

:46:18.:46:24.

American Clemons is trying to make up. His team-mate was disqualified.

:46:25.:46:30.

He has work to do. Top three. Taplin out there.

:46:31.:46:36.

Clemons is doing his best to get around. Out in front Taplin all the

:46:37.:46:41.

way looking very dominant and strong. Moves away, a real scrap for

:46:42.:46:48.

third. Lendore hangs on and Mweresa taking third.

:46:49.:46:56.

A tough semifinal with Brenes and Clemons not going through.

:46:57.:46:59.

Impressive running from Taplin. That's quick. You can see how much

:47:00.:47:07.

distance there was between him and Lendore and Mweresa.

:47:08.:47:11.

The line up for the second semifinal.

:47:12.:47:27.

Top three to go through. Winning this semifinal is so important. A

:47:28.:47:37.

very good start. Just makes up a yard on Haroun. Maslak started

:47:38.:47:43.

quickly. These three already pulling away. Gordon gave a wide run into

:47:44.:47:47.

that bend there. This tall figure getting around. They're not steep

:47:48.:47:53.

curves here but Haroun cannot hold off Maslak who cuts across. Loses a

:47:54.:47:57.

metre or so. Loses momentum. That could be critical for Haroun. Trying

:47:58.:48:03.

to get back on terms with Maslak who is controlling this. Gordon can't

:48:04.:48:11.

keep with these two. Can Maslak hold off Haroun. He moves out, makes them

:48:12.:48:18.

run further. Haroun just about... Well I am going to say gets there,

:48:19.:48:25.

did he? The chest of Maslak protruding as they cross the line.

:48:26.:48:28.

It's going to be close. He thinks he did it. He may be right. Haroun

:48:29.:48:33.

strong. You have to say just lost a little bit of momentum. He wanted to

:48:34.:48:40.

get in the front. You can see why. These two certainly gave Gordon no

:48:41.:48:45.

chance of getting involved at the front. The result of an extremely

:48:46.:48:54.

competitive second semifinal. Gordon having to settle for a distant

:48:55.:48:59.

third. Tiffany Porter missed out on a medal in Beijing but is looking to

:49:00.:49:03.

add to her collection here in the 60 metre hurdles. She caught up with

:49:04.:49:07.

David McDaid. Sglp 2012, you got the silver. 2014

:49:08.:49:12.

you had a bronze. How much do you want to complete the

:49:13.:49:18.

set? I want desperately to come away victorious. I love champs in

:49:19.:49:22.

general. It's another opportunity to put on the GB vest. Every

:49:23.:49:26.

opportunity is an opportunity to race against the best there. The

:49:27.:49:28.

ladies are running fast and it's going to be a great competition.

:49:29.:49:32.

Nobody really trains to be second place. Hopefully I can put together

:49:33.:49:39.

a race that will make me victorious. The USA so well represented here.

:49:40.:49:45.

Rollins, Harrison, Porter, Solomon for Great Britain.

:49:46.:50:00.

Will be a big surprise if Ivancevic was to pip the Americans here.

:50:01.:50:11.

Rollins I think is the favourite but it's so close to call here.

:50:12.:50:16.

It's about executing. It always is in the hurdles. You have to start

:50:17.:50:22.

well, obviously. And then stay calm. Hurdles clattering around you.

:50:23.:50:28.

Harrison has the ability to run 400 hurdles as well. She was so close to

:50:29.:50:35.

Rollins in the US championships here last week. It was less than 100th of

:50:36.:50:43.

a second. Ali looked good in qualification. Maybe she's rounded

:50:44.:50:48.

nice le at the right time for the final. I said that Porter will need

:50:49.:50:55.

to improve a little bit. Only ran eight flat in qualifying and in

:50:56.:50:57.

qualification race it was a poor start, as well.

:50:58.:51:03.

She will have to be much better. No country has ever had a clean sweep

:51:04.:51:06.

here. The USA have had two in the top three. Canada have had two in

:51:07.:51:11.

the top three. Jamaica have had two in the top three but no country has

:51:12.:51:17.

ever had a clean sweep in the women's 60 metres hurdles.

:51:18.:51:23.

Set. Look at that in the middle Harrison

:51:24.:51:27.

gets the best start and hits the first hurdle. Rollins is leading.

:51:28.:51:31.

Porter trying to get there. Ali gets there!

:51:32.:51:36.

Nia Ali right at the end came through to defend her title. Porter

:51:37.:51:42.

ran a much better race. Rollins couldn't hang on.

:51:43.:51:48.

Well, no American one, two, three again. Tiffany Porter, a much better

:51:49.:51:53.

performance from her. What about Ali? It looked as though... Harrison

:51:54.:51:59.

got the best start and then slammed into the first hurdle. Because of

:52:00.:52:06.

that her race was gone. Ali now realising what she has done. Only

:52:07.:52:10.

Jones has ever defended this title successfully. Of the three Americans

:52:11.:52:16.

she was not the one expected to win the gold medal. The other two were

:52:17.:52:19.

the favourites. She's the one who has come through.

:52:20.:52:23.

Tony? It's an interesting start here. Rollins stumbles. Harrison

:52:24.:52:28.

gets out. I think she pushed too hard, got too close to the hurdle

:52:29.:52:33.

and ended up on top of it. She has eight strides to the first hurdle

:52:34.:52:37.

and is pushed, and determined and got right on top of it. There is a

:52:38.:52:43.

lead. As it comes up, hits the hurdle. From that point on it looked

:52:44.:52:48.

like Rollins... Look at Ali. Porter got a better start and held on well.

:52:49.:52:52.

She wasn't sure about her position but to be fair she was a clean

:52:53.:52:56.

bronze medallist there. The gold and bronze the same as last time.

:52:57.:53:01.

Rollins coming through for the silver this time. As you were! Well,

:53:02.:53:10.

the Americans getting the two, not the full three, though. Well done

:53:11.:53:14.

Tiffany Porter. She saved her best performance of the season for the

:53:15.:53:18.

final. The gold medal goes to Nia Ali, she defends her title with a

:53:19.:53:24.

season's best. Rollins takes silver. Another world indoor championship

:53:25.:53:28.

medal for Tiffany Porter. Same as two years ago. Bronze medal.

:53:29.:53:34.

A really good performance from her. Serita Solomon in 7th. Tiffany,

:53:35.:53:37.

another world medal. A bronze this time. How do you feel? I am just

:53:38.:53:43.

very pleased I was able to bounce back from a horrendous preliminary.

:53:44.:53:47.

I am encouraged, happy to come away with the medal. Everyone is running

:53:48.:53:50.

fast and I am pleased. I have to focus on my own lane. You cannot get

:53:51.:53:54.

caught up in what everybody else is doing. As a competitor it's

:53:55.:53:59.

important, it's important to focus on yourself and I am happy I was

:54:00.:54:02.

able to do that and bring home another medal. Tiffany Porter, a

:54:03.:54:08.

deserved bronze. It hasn't been the best of seasons for her. She

:54:09.:54:15.

certainly saved her best until last. Coming through to take another World

:54:16.:54:19.

Championship medal. Not the gold yet, but that's her third world

:54:20.:54:24.

indoor medal in a row. Now we move to the men's. 60 metres

:54:25.:54:32.

flat. First ever world indoor title. There they are.

:54:33.:54:44.

Bromell surely will be looking to the Olympics this summer as a chance

:54:45.:54:50.

to show what he can do. Collins will be there again. Qualification for

:54:51.:55:00.

him won't be as difficult as it is for the Americans.

:55:01.:55:09.

You know that Collins won't tie up. Collins always seems to produce his

:55:10.:55:15.

best when he needs it. Powell always has those question

:55:16.:55:23.

marks hanging over him. What about Su? Just missed out on a medal two

:55:24.:55:30.

years ago. Gittens can start very quickly. He did that in the semis

:55:31.:55:38.

and then kept going. Mike Rodgers, 30 years of age now.

:55:39.:55:41.

Finding himself on the periphery of this final.

:55:42.:55:47.

The final event of day two of these world indoor championships.

:55:48.:55:55.

Powell gets another cracking start. So does Bromell. Powell is trying to

:55:56.:56:04.

get there. Bromell wins it! Once again Powell cannot win a world

:56:05.:56:08.

title. He has been beaten by a younger man and a better man on the

:56:09.:56:15.

day. This is a huge sprint talent. A medal outdoors last year and it's a

:56:16.:56:23.

gold medal this time. Trayvon Bromell comes out on top and once

:56:24.:56:27.

more Powell can only look and wonder. You couldn't say that Powell

:56:28.:56:30.

didn't start well. He was in the race at this point. Then he doesn't

:56:31.:56:35.

move through. Where is the flowing Powell? Where is is the Powell that

:56:36.:56:42.

we saw in the heats and semifinal? He doesn't run with the same

:56:43.:56:47.

fluidity. Bromell got ahead of him and you said get ahead of him and

:56:48.:56:52.

put him under pressure, Tony. You do not see the same Powell coming

:56:53.:56:57.

through. That's what Bromell did. It's interesting, you look at

:56:58.:57:01.

Asafa's face. He is more tense running. That tension throughout the

:57:02.:57:06.

whole body probably affected the stride length. May have had the

:57:07.:57:12.

frequency of step but doesn't get the knees into the same position.

:57:13.:57:16.

Bromell confirmed as the gold medallist with a new personal best.

:57:17.:57:22.

Brilliant run from him. Powell needs to wait and perhaps come back again.

:57:23.:57:27.

Will he ever win a global title? This -- this was his big chance. It

:57:28.:57:32.

was silver for the Jamaican. A really cracking race. Just look at

:57:33.:57:50.

that at the bottom two, you might have thought they would be among the

:57:51.:57:55.

medals in these championships, having to settle for 7th and 8th in

:57:56.:57:57.

a cracking men's 60 metre final. Our coverage of the championships

:57:58.:58:06.

continues tonight on the red button at 6.00pm. Then on BBC Two at

:58:07.:58:11.

midnight. For those of you who can't stay up that late you can catch

:58:12.:58:14.

highlights tomorrow at 3.00pm on BBC Two.

:58:15.:58:18.

It's been a cracking day two. A wonderful story. Gold medal for

:58:19.:58:33.

Eaton in the women's pentathlon. Hopefully more success for Great

:58:34.:58:35.

Britain. Goodbye and we will see you soon.
